TAMPA – Here’s what the Falcons were saying after the game.

WR JULIO JONES

ON THE LOSS: [The Buccaneers] were the better team today. We tried to pull it out; it’s just something that we need to continue to keep working on.

ON HIS FIRST CAREER 100-YARD GAME: I really did not know I had one hundred yards. They needed me to show up and I tried my best to do what was necessary.

ON THE MATCHUP WITH CB AQIB TALIB: He’s a good corner, physical and [has] great size as well. I’ll see him again, but he’s a great athlete.

CB DUNTA ROBINSON

ON THE DEFENSE:  These young guys that I play with on the back end are getting better and better every week. So we’re just trying to go out there and win. Obviously, [today] it wasn’t good enough to win, which is the main thing. Everything we did really doesn’t matter, because we didn’t win the football game. Winning is the biggest thing. This was a disappointing loss for us.

ON STOPPING THE SCREEN: We understood that was one of our nemeses in our past two games. So we wanted to come out here and get those things stopped early. They did some things that we haven’t seen, which a team in your division is going to do. They’re going to give you a lot of new looks. For the most part, we knew what kind of offense they were going to come out there and run, and did they things that we thought they were going to do.

ON COREY PETERS OFFSIDES PENALTY: It’s tough, man, those guys are so anxious. It’s fouth-and-one, we’re out of timeouts. You can tell the guy not jump a million times, watch the ball a million times. But when all the quarterback has to get is six inches, those guys are looking to chop their man and make a play. We need to have more discipline then that; we can’t give them those opportunities. But, hey, we shouldn’t be in the fourth-and-inches, anyway.

S THOMAS DeCOUD

ON THE DEFENSE: We have to figure out what’s not going right and make sure we get it corrected. We are not playing up to our full potential right now.

ON HIS INTERCEPTION: They got down in our red-zone, [so] we needed to make a play to get the ball back to our offense [because] if they had scored on that drive it would have given them a lot of momentum. We were in a coverage where I could free up. [I] played the run and slid back into coverage and plucked the ball out of the air.

SS WILLIAM MOORE

ON TAMPA RB LeGARRETTE BLOUNT: He’s good on his feet. For his size, he can definitely move and you have to respect the kind of athlete he is. We never took that for granted [today].

ON THE DEFENSE: It’s discipline, you know. We had a couple of offside penalties and we just have to discipline ourselves. Josh is a big boy. We knew that, [and] they have a big back [Blount] that kept pushing the ball up the middle. We just have to get better.

Julio, your are correct Tampa were better prepared by the coaching and the players made more plays. They did play better football.

Execution was superior…

It was slap down knockout knuckle dragging beat down…

Terrible, Huge loss for the broken birds……Yawn…

Mr Freeman is a pretty good football player…
You’ll notice already his pocket presence is greater that PattyMelts.

8-8 with that OL?

Game was lost on Roddy’s dropped TD. He knows it and admitted it on his Twitter acct.

O-Line has been whipped three games in a row and, sorry folks, you can’t fix that during a season.

Dunta said it best “We need to have more “”discipline”" then that; we can’t give them those opportunities. But, hey, we shouldn’t be in the fourth-and-inches, anyway.”

Why does no reporter ever ask the tough questions to Mike Smith? Is it because if you do, you won’t get access to the team?

Fans want to know:

What are you going to do about the Oline? It is horrendous. If you can’t fix that, nothing else matters.

Why is the play calling still so conservative and predictable?

What happened to Douglass being a big part of this offense? In the preseason all we heard was how he was going to be the one to benefit from Jones and White.

If we are most successful in the no huddle, why don’t we use it more often? What does it say about MM when we are most successful when he is NOT calling plays.

I’m wondering, if the Falcons offense line is so bad why don’t they start Tyson Clabo at right guard where he has already played then play Will Svitek outside of him. Svitek has played right tackle and he is a pro in the league. Tyson seems to be to slow for the speed rushers, moving him inside might open holes up the middle for Michael Turner. Sam Baker needs to get mean out there; he’s a first round pick that is playing too tentative. After being drafted from USC with all those expectations he’s just not getting it done. Isn’t this his 4th year in the NFL? Matt Ryan has shown if he has the time to throw like they are trying too has time he can get the job done.

CDG, you do realize that Ryan played better in every single facet of the game than Freeman except rushing right? Freeman was horrible in this game. He played like a rookie. You put Freeman behind the Falcons Oline and he probably has sub 20 passer rating.

DFAT, good pt. Nobody can operate with that OL. I give Ryan credit he is one tough humbre working behind that OL. Dude had 330 yards passing.. Rodney played like a rookie? Just stunk today..

This coaching staff needs to find a Greyhound STAT!!! This squad is not being coached up to their potential…

If Coach Clean shot does not win a playoff game this year he needs to kick rocks along with his staff..

If we keep playing like we did today, we aren’t going ANYWHERE, let alone, playoffs!!!!

Here are the biggest issues we have:

1. O-Line

2. If number one isn’t working our protecting, all other problems don’t matter.

First rule in football; Your QB is only as good as his O-line allows him to be!!!!!!!

Our defense is WAY TOO soft right now and we are not getting ANY kind of pass rush, and even if we do, it’s too late and we end up getting flagged for a personal for for late hit on the opposing QB. We have GOT to get Babineaux back ASAP!!

I knew from preseason and I told my friends that if our starters get injured then we are pretty much screwed b/c our No. 2 defense couldn’t stop anyone in preseason.

It was good to see McClure back but he had that COSTLY snap that didn’t even get to Ryan, so he is going to have to shack some rust off.

Daunta, nothin’ but love for ya but you have GOT to play the ball quicker. Yet again, you slipped down after your receiver caught a quick slant. You get paid WAY TO MUCH to making ROOKIE mistakes like that.

Will Turner EVER hit the hole without stopping five yards in the back field first????? He has NO SPEED when Ryan hands off the ball to him. That’s why he only gets 3 yards per carry. Snelling at least hits the hole at full speed and says, “Try and stop me!”

The offsides on the last play of the game was COMPLETELY INEXCUSABLE!!!!! Again, these guys get paid way too much to making these types of STUPID mistakes.

In closing, I will say that the Falcons ARE BETTER than their 1-2 record, but as the old saying goes, your only as good as your last game!!!!!

Right the ship FAST or we are staring at an 8-8season….IF WE ARE LUCKY!!!!!!!!!

@Michael, we’ll hold off on the wreath for now. There’s still a whole lot of football left to play.. lol

You just have to move on to the next one.But this hurts more than the Bears loss imho…

Must win next week!
@ 2-2 in 2 weeks they’ll face the best team in football! Going in @2-2 is much better than 1-3 for sure..

Tech, that is exactly right… if you don’t fix the Oline, it doesn’t matter what else you do.

I do disagree with you about Turner though. You don’t have 2 100 yard games out of 3 games played if you are slow and can’t hit the hole. He is still one of the best every down backs in the NFL. This still goes back to the Oline. Again, if you can’t fix that, nothing else matters. They knew Ryan didn’t have time to throw the ball even against a 4 man rush, so they stacked the box on down and distances we tend to run from. Quite simply, there were no holes there for him to run through because they were not afraid of our passing game. The other problem is that we don’t have a quality change of pace back. Snelling is too similar to Turner in that he is a down hill runner. When they stack the box, you need someone who can get to the outside. They apparently don’t have enough faith in Quizz yet. If your entire running game is between the tackles and they aren’t afraid of your passing game, no one is going to run. Philly gave teams confidence that they can get to Ryan with ease. That hurt every other aspect of our offense.

Its the same song out of Coach Smith, only a different key ! I look for another loss next week against Seattle and then a lop-sided Home Loss against The Pac.
I am starting to be as bad as the Trolls !
I say Stop paying da Bums and ship em outta here ! This is just not acceptable !

Oh yeah, the stats look good on different individuals after this Tampa Loss but it is what it is ! ! !
Just another loss and one step closer to the foot in the grave with no chance of coming back to make a run at anything except the back door !

They lose 3 or 4 more games then a run to the playoffs is outta reach too ! A 10-6 might slip em in there as wildcard but I doubt it. I think my wife said it best because a female can and does see things different than us men do.

She said, well, they going to get paid regardless of whether they win another game or not and as long as they know that, its just like Joe Blow going to work everyday

Clabo at RT isn’t the problem. Baker at LT is. If the O-line is going to play this way, then nothing else matters. You can’t win if you are weak up front.

Turner struggled because he was getting hit in the backfield all game.

Ryan struggled until he started calling his own plays. Say what you want about the short passing game, it slows the pass rush down. They should start that way and try to finish with the run more. This way, you have a fresher Turner pounding a tired defense. I would think our OC would know that. That strategy seems to be working for Green Bay.

The offsides penalty hurt but, like Dunta said, they shouldn’t have been in 4th & inches anyway.

The Bucs didnt win. The Falcons just lost. Our coach plays nervous and the team has taken on that personality. 4th and goal…you take a chance and if you dont get it, you MAKE TB drive the length of the field. The conservative play of this team is gonna always hold them back. Honestly, I dont know what kind of team this is anymore. They look lost from top to bottom. Like I have been saying, this is a 9-7 10-6 team that WILL miss the playoffs b/c the Lions and Bucs will fill those wildcard spots. Rise up? Why? to become so nervous that you’re up so high that you start “decorating” all the cars below?

How would you like to be Matt Ryan, if I have gotten that many sacks, hits, thrown around I would really be pissed. If this keeps up, Matt is going to get hurt and then where are we. The O line got to get better. By the way White ,Peters, Mcclure, didn’t lose the game, the whole team did. Don’t blame one person, blame yourself and the rest of the team. Grow up, you make good money…..

The offensive line has to play better. Both the offensive and defensive play calling is poor. Especially the offensive calling. We do so much better in the no off because the QB is calling plays. We do not stop4 and long because of poor def play calling. Fix it. This is a good team.

Its tough being a Falcon fan, or any other Atl sports team. I was born and raised here. But there are two things wrong with the Falcons. Mike Mularkey and Brian V Gordy or what ever his name is. They have to be replaced. And as much as I try to support Matt Ryan… he just dont have the arm strength or the Wow factor. The Falcons are boring.

“But, hey, we shouldn’t be in the fourth-and-inches, anyway”

Exactly what I said last night when everyone was going in on Peters for that jump. We had multiple chances to get a TD on our last drive. MULTIPLE – and we fell short. Furthermore, if the offense would have shown up in the first 3 quarters, Roddy’s drop wouldn’t have mattered. Tampa did NOT play that well – we gave that game to them.

The sad part about it is, Falcons fans were all over Raymond James – we traveled to represent our team. The stadium could have been ours with a win. I’m just glad we came back and made it close. The Bucs fans were definitely scared for a minute there. One of these days the Falcons will be feared – yesterday was not it.

Mike Smith quote: Its a long season (taken from the mouth of Fredi G.) and look how that quote has played out for the Braves. Mike Smith (O lineman will be earning a start) this is a must and should have been the approach since the beginning of camp.

So far this season is sad, lucky to have beaten Philly. I guess we can take some satisfaction in that we got beat by better teams (Chicago and Tampa Bay), boy thats a kick in the a$$.

It’s not just the falcons offensive line, its just simply other teams have a better defense.no need to try and find excuses now.All i heard before the season started is how good the falcons front 4 will be with edwards, when all i’ve seen him do is pick up a fumble and get chased down. This team might go 9-7 and thats pushing it.I also heard roddy white say they will be the greatest show on turf? well the turf is there but they(Falcons) forgot the show.

It’s not just the o-line fault, Matt Ryan is not an elite qb. Daunt Robinson is the best db on the team (and that’s more of a insult than a compliment). Ray Edwards couldn’t get to the qb enough playing along side Jared Allen and the Williams bros. And while the falcants defense looked like s#!t in shallow water against the pack in the playoffs, & a receiver is supposed to get y’all over the hump? Lmfao. No matter how many fans come to Raymond James, it’s only eleven people on the field for the falcants, and they got their a$$ handed to them. J- Freeman’s dirty bird rendition and “kicking a man while he’s down”, priceless. Get ready for a long season dirty birds, you might not have to trade in to the top ten of the draft this year. See ya in the dome. CANT WAIT ( in my Bart Scott voice ) Go BUCS !!!
