FLOWERY BRANCH – The Falcons have played in the Eagles in each of the past two years, but Matt Ryan and Michael Vick have not been on the field at the same time.

In the 2009 meeting, Ryan missed the game with a turf toe injury. Vick, was in his first season back in the league after serving his sentence in the notorious his federal

dogfighting case. He came on late in the 34-7 Eagles victory to score on a 5-yard run and throw a 5-yard pass to Brent Celek.

Last season, Vick was injured and never showed up on the sidelines for the game at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles gave some bizarre reasoning that didn’t matter much after they’d won 31-17.

On Sunday, Vick and Ryan are expected to meet in their first showdown: past vs. the future, old franchise quarterback vs. the new franchise quarterback.

Get ready for another humiliation on national tv. We won’t rise up, we seldom do. I hate to be negative but after lasts week’s performance and all the hype. The birds will choke! I hope I am wrong.

One thing in our favor, the Eagles are having trouble defending the run. Hopefully our running game will get us thru. Don’t expect and explosive plays downfield this week. The Eagles defense will shut those down as well.

It’s hard for me to believe we are actually depending upon two castoffs to improve our defense. The more they learn about the defense, the worse they will become.

I’m more concerned about the Smith vs Reid matchup. Reid has had the Falcons number over the last several years.

Ryan is a better all around quarter back, but if the Falcons defense is going to try and PUSH runners instead of TACKLING them, then it doesn’t matter who’s behind center, because the birds are going to lose. Hey, Falcons defense here’s how you tackle a runner: you HIT the runner as HARD as you can and then you WRAP your arms COMPLETELY around the runner’s body and DRAG/HAUL him to the ground. I learned this playing football at the Boys Club back in the 60’s

“#Falcons Coach Mike, said Joe Hawley had the most solid game of all of the offensive linemen. 17 hours ago”

That is the scariest statement coming out of this past Sunday’s game. If it wasn’t Hawley’s fault whose was it. You mean to tell me the other four guys were just screwing up. Wow. We got BIG problems.

I’m very nervous about Philly as they have DOMINATED us over the last few years..

Obviously Reid and his staff are far superior to ours as we are hamstrung with BVD and Mularkey..

I want us to line up in a run and shoot with White, Jones, Douglas and Tony G along with Snelling in backfield and throw the ball DOWNFIELD!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD THROW THE BALL NORTH AND SOUTH!!

throw and throw some more!!

Also, Mike Mularkey needs to understand that you can throw a TD pass from midfield if you want! You dont have to nickel and dime your way down to the goal line and try to run the ball in or then settle to kick a FG! If you don’t understand this Mularkey please resign!! This offense has more weapons than almost any other team in the NFL but you continue to be a ball and chain on us..

@Michael M. You’re exactly right. This is exactly why Georgia Tech, Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, and the former Atlanta Thrashers can’t keep their stadiums filled. Because of fairweathered fans. Why would a sports team want to be here? They only want to support the team when they’re winning. Bandwagoners!

is Matt Ryan checking out of all explosive plays, to just pat his stats, may be they should call the play and tell him to run it. is he scared, where is the gunslinger from Boston College, id rather see the attempt and fail rather than the check down, practice makes perfect.

Big C, so the fans are the reason players can’t make plays…. excuses, excuses, excuses…… man up man!!! it couldn’t possibly have anything to do with the lack of consistent winning by the teams you named, I mean you didn’t name the steelers, the colt’s, the packers or the patriots…… just might be the teams themselves ya think……

Matty ice is a weak arm quarterback. He can’t throw the ball down field his arm is weak. He has trouble throwing the deep out rout. When he was in the draft the scouts rated him low because of his inability to throw deep…All his interceptions are on deep passes. Check his stats… he doesn’t have many passes over 20 yards…He is a chock artist..
