CHICAGO — Pro Bowl fullback Ovie Mughelli left the game with a knee injury.

Also, wide receiver Harry Douglas  went to the locker room late in the game, but was walking under his own powers.

Early in the game, defensvie tackle Peria Jerry saw the trainer, but he returned to the action.

If the injuries are serious, Falcons coach Mike Smith will likely make an announcement on Monday. If they are not serious, he will just include them in the league-mandated Wednesday injury report.

both ovie and babs looked fine as they walked to th locker room after their injuries, so hopefully if was just precaution that held them out.

We can’t afford to lose Ovie. He’s like our 6th blocker. Losing him would be critical and would stunt our running game tremendously. But he was walking under his own power so maybe he hit it awkwardly and just thought it would be best to not push it. Same with Babs.

The boys got a strong cup of reality today. 15 games left with some serious O-Line and Secondary work to do. I hope we respond. BTW ANybody else think it may have been a good idea to give dunta robinson some reps in pre-season? He looked very rusty today.

Dunta Robinson didn’t look good at all. He was being targeted early and often which means that Grimes was holding his own. I think Grimes is starting to become one of the premier corners in the league.

Duna Robinson is a reincarnation of De angelo Hall: over rated and over paid and must sit down. That the D coach must go. He has this team playing scared ball. You can’t line up 10 yards off off the ball in this league of talented speedsters. Thats a haven for pop warner ball. And it seems that a head coach with the said to be defensive mind would fire this guy. What going on.

We need to play our best football this Sunday night and get a win, we did not give Chicago our best punch and that’s not good….but all will be well with a big win against Philly.

Anybody else see CB Christopher Owens make two wrong turns in coverage against the Bears receivers? How he is still on the team baffles me, i guess he is one of BVG favorites! CB Franks should be the nickel back and the punt returner too. Weems didn’t even try to fair catch those short kicks and let them roll and pen us into bad field position! i hope that wasn’t coach Smith telling him not to catch the punts like he told him not to do in the last preseason game. Coach Smith can’t play scared.
Anyway, i predicted in earlier post, we start the first five games with 1 win and 4 losses until we get to the softer part of the schedule and start to jell as a team. We still make the playoffs!

That was the most pathetic display of football I have ever witnessed. I know High School Coaches with better game plans and play calling.

Ladies and gentlemen the Falcons are who we thought they were. Gave up 4 picks in the draft for more explosiveness well congrats we blew up on the field. The only thing that could have made this weekend worse was for the Dawgs to lose, oh yeah that’s right they choked too.

Subtraction by addition. We add Julio to help with explosive plays but lose the offensive identity in the process. Secondary is worse than last year if that is possible. I could have hit those WR’s they were so wide open! DeCoud, how about you do some tip drills this week?

I don’t think I have ever seen a NFL game with that many WR’s completely wide open, play after play.

The entire team from the coaching staff down to the special teams players ought to be ashamed of themselves. It was as though they were totally disengaged and didn’t even want to be there Sunday afternoon. Get ready for 0-2, the Eagles will absolutely have their way with them.

@nes I saw Owens make those mistakes and don’t understand why the coaching staff still likes him. Hopefully after yesterday and the Green Bay game they won’t like him anymore. Robinson is still a good corner, he suffers in that weak zone (let one guy run by you and pick up another guy), but I’m pretty sure if the Falcons played man he would be more succesful and Grimes would hurt.

Sorry but Robinson needs to sit his butt on the bench!!! He did the same thing last year. Couldn’t practice all camp/preseason due to a ‘hamstring injury’. Then he gets out on the field at the beginning of the year and stinks the place up. He isn’t any better than Chris Houston, the guy he replaced. I’m sick of watching him and his dreads chasing receivers from behind or getting up off the ground when they run by him. Same thing Chris Houston did!!! Give me a break!! Franks could play better than him and his 57 million dollar contract. Oh, and on the first defensive play of the game, I saw Chris Owens out on the field. I knew then it was going to be a long, long, long day!!!

They looked the same as they did in Green Bay – I am just grateful it was Cutler and not Rodgers. The coaches owe the fans a DETAILED explanation as to why they flopped at Green Bay and again yesterday. I am holding my ticket purchase until I get that explanation. I’m tired of hearing “we’ll get it fixed” – Fix what exactly? One of the problems is they play with little emotion – getting fired up is not a bad thing.

I have read these things since 2002 and haven’t put one comment on here but after yesterday’s performance I felt like I had to. Brian Van Gorder needs to be releived of his duties because clearly not a thing was learned after the playoff slaughter that was witnessed by us fans. The offense will come around. The D-Line was the only bright spot of the day. The linebackers didnt tackle The secondary was awful as usual…why are we playing 10-12 off the ball from ROY WILLIAMS? Devin Hester Can’t catch anything beyond a bubble screen. And sunday night its going to be even tougher task…..Lets get it together

I am a fan that looks at the situation first. Todd was no on the OLine and our QB has too much pressure on him too win. On D we are just making lazy plays and the D-coach much take risks and not letting these guys play their games. Atlanta Falcons will be 14-2 and that game will be history.. I know your think I am crazy but the Falcons will win the NFC SOUTH AND THE NFC.. Leave it alone and just get behind them and cheer. We need too stop seeking answers because no of us have them. Each one of those players have too look in the mirror and leave the GB game behind. This is mental for the Falcons.

DeCoud (Man, I toss those types of easy balls to my 4 year old to catch), Robinson, Owen all looked lost in the secondary.
Spoon’ – what was he thinking trying to nudge Forte out of bounds while he was 4 yards from the sideline???
OL played the worst I’ve seen in years from that group. Granted 2 new players in there but still very poor effort.
Weems??? Good Heavens just fall on the ball to prevent it from rolling to within our 10 yardline.
KO???? Uhm, all kickers can kick them out or to the back of the endzone but we struggle to even get the ball to the goalline??

Really only Abraham, Grimes and Bierman came to play!!!!

PlanB

Completely embarassing!!!!
TD has done some good things for this team but using a draft choice for a kicker that can only kick the ball to the goal line was a mistake. One we will live with until the heat is off the decision. To get another kicker now would be admitting a mistake and TD will not do that. I’m watching college ball and seeing many kickers kicking deep into the enzone from the 30 yard line.
I know this team is better than this but we need to improve our OL and NCB. If we lose players like Ovie and Babs, we are in bigger trouble.
Chicago went to play ball, we didn’t.

We need to fire Mularkey as this offense has WAY TOO MUCH TALENT to sit back and accept this dull, almost wishbone, attack ATL tries to run.

We need to come out against Philly with arun and shoot style offense and air the ball out, and I mean north/south not east/west..

If we were to ask the 31 other Offensive Coordinators in this league what other offense they would like to coach I’m sure a majority would say ATL with all the explosive weapons we have but sadly our OC just runs the same old plays, game after game, year after year…

People need to be questioned. That means all coaches and political leaders. To borrow and spend $100,000 to create a $50,000 job is not solving the problem.
Sorry, I got off on politics. The two subjects seemed so related

I want get into politics with my two master degrees all in politics and it seek too be you did not get your Civic because if you did you would understand Public Policy dude. I am just keeping it real and watch the falcons stay true too them and fly on too a winning records. It is people and fans like you that gives America a best name because people like you find fault in others besides yourself. You probably wish you was the President or you wished you played NFL sports but maybe you cannot do either because you are so negative. The falcons will be fine if they trust in god and true in them as a team. This was the first game of the season man grow up or give up sports
