apparent left leg injury and was taken off the field on a cart during Sunday’s morning practice.

Falcons coach Mike Smith will update Peters’ status after the evening walk-through practice.

Linebacker Akeem Dent, the Falcons third-round draft pick (91st overall), did not practice and was wearing a brace on his left knee.

“That was a very physical game (against Miami),” Smith said. “Both teams play hard. We have a couple of guys that are probably not going to be ready to go by the end of the week.”

In addition to Dent, tight end Justin Peelle (knee) and quarterback John Parker Wilson (concussion) did not practice on Sunday.

Right guard Mike Johnson (concussion) returned to practice on Sunday and is expected to fully participate in practice on Monday.

Tight end Marquez Branson (left knee) and defensive tackle Vance Walker (ankle) could return to action soon.

Defensive end Ray Edwards, who is recovering from knee surgery, had his practice schedule ramped up a bit on Sunday.

“It was almost full participation,” Smith said. “We will know more by the end of the week.”

Smith was not ready to declare Edwards in or out of this week’s exhibition game against Jacksonville.

I hate that news, just dang.
Suddenly, what seem to be a position of good depth is now thin.

It good that Walker is about ready to return and Edwards is new ready to go.

Depth has been the problem with this team since the lockout ended, the fins proved that Friday night.

I hope Peters is ok, I was expecting Jerry to take his spot anyways but Peters provides much needed depth and can be used in situational plays. Hopefully it’s nothing more than a sprain at the very worst.

Despite some of the goofy garbage he usually posts, “seen” is (in his 2nd post) just typing what many of us are thinking about the team’s depth…even a broken clock is right twice a day. ATL isn’t the only team with depth issues but it’s the only one worth worrying about.
Falcon Fan is right about preseason, especially his reminder about the Lions great preseason and their disastrous winless year that followed….

It is probably just a sprain. He is a solid player, and will likely sit out until the season opener. There is no report of him writhing in pain. Looks to be cautionary move by birds medical staff.

I thought Peters got hurt during the game, on one play he made on the sideline he came up a little gimpy.

Seen, this is why no one can actually discuss football with Aints trolls and why a lot of us no longer even bother reading it. I understand you are not a fan of the Falcons. I understand you come on here because you get some kind of joy from being a troll. I don’t care. Have at it. Anyone with even a bit of football knowledge knows that you can not really know anything about our depth from the Miami game. The coaching staff did not play it like the Saints played. We weren’t tuning up our team. Most of the people who played after the first quarter weren’t second string or even third string. They were UDFA that the coaches wanted to see on the field. For instance, Emmanuel Stephens played a most of snaps at DE. He isn’t second or third string, though he may be now. I don’t mind intelligent banter from other fans, but you and other trolls refuse to be intelligent. The Falcons lack depth at DB. That is it. So do the Saints. Saints also lack depth at LB. And, don’t say they don’t because I can show you plenty of articles from Saints sites talking about those two positions. Every team needs to be deeper somewhere.

Redmon is an above average backup QB. He has starting experience. He is a game manager. I would take him over any of the Saints backups this year.

We have tons of depth at RB. Snelling is more than capable of being a starter. Johnson and Rodgers are great change of pace guys. Ovie can even be the HB if we need him to.

WR we are set. Weems has really worked hard to be a better receiver and showed that. We have Meier who is going to be a productive possession guy. A lot of the rookies who played averaged over 15 yards per catch. Douglas is back to form and will be a real weapon in the slot.

OL, we have been developing two guys and we have a rookie who is stepping up and making waves in camp. We are ok there as long as the entire line doesn’t get in a plane crash or something

DL As long as the recent DT aren’t all serious, we have one of the deeper rotations in the league.

LB We are deep. Especially if Bear Woods continues to look as good as he did in the first game. Peterson could be a starter on a lot of teams but is going to be the primary backup here. Dent, Woods, and Wire are all good backups.

DB is the one place I wish we had some more depth. I would love to sign one more veteran CB. It is our weak spot, but I like our starters a lot. Grimes is proving last year was not a fluke. He is truly a very good corner. Robinson has not been flashy, but he is solid. Moore is going to be something special. He has great instincts and can lay the wood in an old school way. DeCoud I can take or leave. I wouldn’t mind having another vet to back them up too.

We have much more depth on this team than a lot of other teams in the NFL.

DON’T FEED-These AINT FANATICS love to talk about our alledged lack of depth, yet their entire starting secondary got fewer INT’s combined than Falcons CB BGrimes or FS WMoore. Their entire starting DL gave up tons of rushing yrds and registered fewer sacks than DE JAbraham.

If the AINTS had any depth at all they wouldn’t hesitate to replace at least a few of their under achieving starters. Righ now, they’re depending on a rookie RB to solve the rushing issues, a rookie DE, who isn’t much of a pass rusher, to solve their pass rushing issues, and a FA DT who’s coming off a poor season, to solve their poor run DEF issues.

Unlike the AINTS, who rely heavily on signing inexpensive past their prime FA starters who’ve usually been waived by other teams, the Falcons primarily sign FA’s who are in their prime and still productive and consistent.

Don’t feed and Kennie boy: Once again you are both wrong. I come on here to see what your team is doing, or not doing.

The Miami game didn’t show all your weaknesses, but when your starters spot your second teamers a 14 point lead that they can’t hold on to, it means something, I’m sure Smith knows what it means. The Saints didn’t need their starters to beat the 49ers.

As for Kennie boy’s claim that the Saints lack depth at LB, he obviously hasn’t been keeping up with his adversaries. The Saints are deep at linebacker. The Saints didn’t hesitate to trade Reggie Bush for a player and a pick. (What did you all get for Norwood? Nada!) And they didn’t hesitate to pick a rookie in the draft for DE while the Falcan’ts are the ones depending on a gimpy old DE who can only excel if he has 3 other quality dlinemen to help him, even then, he never was able to lay a hand on Brees last year. Imagine! Kenny boasting about a surgically impaired DE who wasn’t up to playing a preseason game. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Instead the falcan’ts mortgaged their future picks on a WR known for dropping passes at key moments, instead of bolstering their defense.

SeenThis A-Hole-B4 you said “I come on here to see what your team is doing, or not doing”

Why you need to see what the Falcons are doing? What differences does it make to you? Do you do the same for the Buc’s and Panthers? And if so, why? You can’t do shyt about what any of these teams do. So your constant attack and dismissal of the Falcons certainly reveals the level of concern you have about the Falcons and tells me the you do not have a great deal of confidence in the Saints. Deep down, you are really worried about the Falcons. You always will. You’re paranoid about the Falcons. In fact obsessed over our team. So stop worrying about the Falcons and concern your dumb azz self with the Saints.

Also, the Saints have quantity at LB, but not quality. You have one guy who would be a starter on any other team. Vilma is you only quality LB. All those other guys are second string at best and none of them have done anything to distinguish themselves which is why you still don’t know who your starters will be other than Vilma.

Saint fans need to be worried, as the Falcons win back to back division titles. Green Bay destroys the Saints on opening night, Drew Brees is injured and out for the season. Tell me how your depth will get you in the playoffs. you are coming off of a Super Bowl win, with a wild card first round exit.
it’s Not For Long, in the nfl, and the Saints are not for long, as your QB is old, and your team is overrated!

Seenthis, you are back to being the Aint’s and no one remembers you winning the super bowl. not relevant anymore. BTW, who is your backup QB? that’s what I thought loser.
