FLOWERY BRANCH — Defensive end Cliff Matthews, formerly of South Carolina, was a seventh round pick (230th overall) in the 2011 draft.
Here’s a quick Q&A with Matthews:
Q: When did you start playing football?
A: Middle School I want to say. Every since then I’ve been playing. It was Long Middle School.
Q: What’s your favorite food?
A: I really don’t have a favorite food. I like to eat a little bit of everything.
Q: What’s your favorite movie?
A: I’m a big movie guy, but I can’t just name one.
Q: What’s on your iPod?
A: I listen to a lot of G-Unit. A little bit of everybody. Some Jay-Z.
Q: Can you predict the score of South Carolina and Georgia game?
A: I’m not going to predict a score, but I’ll predict us to win.

I am excited to see Cliff Matthews get a shot in this league. I am more intrigued to know what’s going to happen with Lawrence Sidbury. We grabbed him in the 4th round a couple of season’s ago, but he has not sniffed the Georgia Dome. Now that Edwards is in the fold, I hope that Sidbury wakes up or he can plan to enjoy the season from the comfort is his own home… Let’s go Sid! A lot of people are waiting for your arrival after the Touchdown you scored… We don’t know what’s going on between you and Coach Hamilton, we just hope you do what you need to do to make your presence known.
Abe #55 if healthy (a beast)
Edwards #? played opposite Jared Allen with the Williams wall in the middle (can he generate pressure on his own; is this guy overrated and maybe that’s why teams backed off of him?)
Bierman #71 great team guy but I have said all along use him on 3rd downs and he will become more effective as a sack artist. (Professional baby maker)
C. Davis #92 after he got paid he became Casper the friendly ghost…
L. Sidbury He must moonlight as David Copperfield because he has performed a masterful 2 season disappearing act…
J. Anderson #98 Great person. Low production. We wish him nothing but the best. Could be re-signed at discount as a D-Tackle in a pinch….
Cliff Matthews #? Let’s see what you got!!
