What I’ve noticed is that teams who regularly DON’T splash the free agent market are the ones that win most often. They draft well, bring in un-drafed guys. Pick up a piece here and there, and develop their own talent. NE, Pittsburgh, Green Bay etc…
TD is cut out of that NE mold, and we are winning. I’m really not looking wildly for a DE we have to pay out the nose for. That actually makes me happy.
I don’t want the Falcons to be a Jerry Jones freak show that does not win but should because of all the bought talent. You know?
I like what TD and Smitty are doing. Keep it up. See ya’ll at camp soon with my 3 boys in tow.

Not much talent in that list. They need to get some real defensive help or they won’t make it above .500 this year.

Going to be tough evaluating the fringe players with only one practice a day. How are they going to get their reps in? The UDFAs are mostly just camp bodies but they aren’t gonna get a fair analysis with just one practice a day. Though it might help out the geriatrics like Gonzalez, it hinders player development, especially for those hard to find diamonds in the rough, who are undoubtly there, but going to get lost in the sand.

dimitroff is the biggest farce in sports. the julio jones move will go down as one of the worst moves in all of sports! in his defense mr. blank had his fingerprints all over that one.
back during the draft all the knuckleheads in this city downplayed the need for drafting a DE by saying “oh we’ll just get one during free agency” like good DE’s grow on trees and all we have to do is walk outside and grab one. now the that reality has set in, charles johnson signing for a boatload of money and ray edwards (who isn’t that good) will demand just as much. the falcons have their own free agency issues 3/5 of their offensive line are free agents. they have a 100 yr old tight end who’s wheels looked flat last year… one can only imagine how much slower he’ll be this year. HEY BUT IT’S ALL GOOD. we got julio freaking jones. an overrated bust from alabama. but he sure can run real fast. hmmmmmm i wonder that last championship team that brokered their future for a wr? oh ya NEVER!
TD you’re a moron. the falcons will be lucky to make the playoffs.

Did you see that clip of Yenga lining up at the nose??? Maybe scheme wise, we are looking for another John Abraham build. I would bet they line him up at DE instead of LB. He is likely just a camp body, but I like the video and he could be a lot like Abe if he gains a few pounds.

honest_abe, you are such a negative person. let them play the game. if it doest work out then so be it. but your job as a fan (if you are one) is to support your team. this team has made good moves for 3 years straight. you probably would have taken glenn dorsey over ryan too! let them do their job and watch!

Yeah they drafted Jones but unless he can cover someone or rush the QB the defense is still going to be bad. I guess they forgot that the Packers didn’t punt once in the playoff beatdown.

aside from your falcons bashing you actually had a good point seen. th udfas will not have a fair chance this year and will be nothing more than tools at camp. a lot of talent may get over looked this year and that is sad for those players.

They aren’t going to do it because of they money they just gave Stephen Nicholas, but I’d feel better if they brought in Nick Barnett at OLB too.
This defense was OK for most of last year but outside of Grimes who some sports talk people in this town seem to ignore… who are the playmakers?

mr. negativity is my middle name. i swim in a sea of cynicsm. but i do love my birds. i just wish they had addressed their myriad of needs through the draft and then patched up other holes through fa.
trading away valuable picks to get a wr is just indefensible. he isn’t going to have an impact this year.
this game is won in the trenches and the falcons are sorely lacking on both sides.
they’ll be lucky to go 7-9.

For the record, I’m not concerned about the Panthers overspending for retaining thier own talent.
I’d like to know the Falcons are signing Grimes and Claybo though. Seems like this is taking forever.
Look at the freaking QB’s we go up against this year. This defense can’t afford to be as poor as they were rushing the QB last year.

Seems like a lot of teams are signing and scurrying to get guys signed and in place.
The Falcons on the other hand are a bit passive from the start.

well we just got a win, NO traded reggie bush away which we all knew was bound to happen. but you cant ignore the fact that our d-line has potential that hasnt been groomed properly. our coaches need to start using people based upon there talents. sidbury has great speed and agility, there has to be some way to translate that onto the field!

@MAXXFALCON Youri Yenga seems more like a pass rush 3-4 guy. We run a 4-3 what use is he if he does not cover?

Every team in the NFL (except Oakland) would be thrilled to have Nnamdi Asomugha on the roster. I haven’t heard any reports that linked the Falcons and Asomugha and I can’t figure out why. He is exactly the type of guy the Falcons want. An exemplary citizen away from the stadium, according to all reports. An obviously ferosious AND sound player on the field. Exactly what our team needs.
Forget the pricetag, he is the real deal, and as we all know the team could juggle the numbers to make them fit.
Someone please explain this to me because it only comes out one way when I do the math.

Who is our Nickel Back and please don’t tell me its going to be Christopher “I can’t cover my grandmother” Owens. He is the reason we lost to Philly early in the season and the reason we got absolutely killed by the packers in the playoffs. WE WILL NOT WIN WITHOUT A GOOD THIRD CORNER. Where is Brian Williams playing? He saved us last season until he got injured right before the playoffs.
