FLOWERY BRANCH – The Falcons have reportedly signed 22 undrafted college free agents, but are not going to release the official list until all of the contract are in the building.

Boise State’s Ryan Winterswyk was signed by the Falcons and will play tight, according to his representatives.

He played defensvie end in college and tight end in goal line situations.

Also, reportedly, West Virginia running back Noel Devine is not currently on the list of 22 players. He’s signed with the Eagles.

Here’s some info on Winterswyk:

* Ryan Winterswyk, DE, Boise State (6-4, 258):  He was named to the All-Western Athletic Conference team for three consecutive seasons. He will need to get stronger. He lifted 225 pounds only 18 times at the scouting combine. “Will have to overcome athletic and speed limitations to earn a backup spot,” according to Pro Football Weekly’s Nolan Nawrocki.

Really? i don’t understand this. If tight end is what you wanted why not sign Wesley Saunders out of South Carolina.

This is just a Blanket signing…. grab up as much potential as you can.. weed out the less keep the more….

Everyone is allowed to make a mistake. Remember when the AJC reported the Braves had signed Rafael Furcal and then a few weeks later had signed Ken Griffey Jr.? That didn’t happen. For all we know his blog about Devine was put out on accident. Maybe he had it ready thinking he was going to sign here and he went to Philly instead.

all of these reports about free agent signings are based on what the players (or their agents) are putting out on tweet’s, facebook, etc. Nothing will be official until contracts are signed on Friday. Much of the info out there is dis-information to help drive up the interest, i.e. money, for the players.

Yeah, this is kind of wack. Deleting old blog posts and deleting comments en masse. Last night there were over 100 comments – now there are 8! Totally unprofessional.

So DLED ran with a story that didnt come to fruition..big deal.. If he wasnt tearing up the phone lines with speculation you fools would still have something to say. DLED I appreciate you at least telling us that Devine considered the Falcons at one point. Keep it coming so when the fans can at least know somewhat how the Falcons brass is thinking

Jalopy, it is the new modern way of journalism. Scrubbing, as it is called, is the modern way of saying it is okay to cover up the truth.

Sad but expected.

I am sure he said yes to the Falcons (Devine), then changed his mind and went to the Eagles. His contract was not sent in, so mis-info was put out there (probably by his agent to D-Led). If you want the info to be confirmed, then wait for the release from…you want news first, though it may change, read the blog…liked Devine, but with Rodgers as a higher round draft pick, I thought he was an odd fit.

I hate to be picky, but in regard to Murrow, it is UNA (University of North Alabama) not Northern Alabama. You know, the school with the former Auburn coach named Bowden.

UGA is going to MANHANDLE Boise st. The new strength and conditioning and nutrition program have produced amazing strength and body fat results. UGA will manhandle WEAK Boise St. and that will be the diifference. Stronger and faster.

So Boise St players don’t have a strength and conditioning program? Trust me, Boise will bring it and them some. UGA will NOT manhandle them.

Falcons had opportunities to draft quality players in rounds 6 and 7, however, Dimitrioff tried to be smart and witty; just goes to show that even the highly intelligent can screw things up.

look at all the Small college players signed. See I guess you don’t have to play in the SEC to get a Chance in the NFL after all.
Go Luke Cox. I know your parents are so proud. You and Mike both getting a shot at the NFL.

Weak list of players and no FA Johnson or Edwards either. No nickelback. GB, Pittsburg, TB, NO, and Philly are kicking our butts again in draft and free agency. Looks like McCay is picking players again.

Youri Yenga – SMU is a OLB, not a running back. Also, Adam Froman, QB from Louisville could give 3rd string Billy Bob Joe Tom Wilson a run for his money.

Sylvester Phillips will get a good long look and open some eyes. Probably will come down to the final roster cut for him. He may have too settle for practice squad but he’s a solid runner that had a very productive college career. Excellent scouting Falcon staff, kuodos.

Mike Leach pulling in his Pirate Ship into the Cape Rear River would be perfect. To Bad UNC isn’t closer to the ocean. He is living in South Florida and I don’t think he is ready to leave.

The U…..Philip Sylvester is a steady rb. 3000 yrds in his career and ran a 4.42 on his pro day workout. His problem has been staying on the field due to many injuries over his college career. At 5′09″ 200lbs, he better do something quick. Don’t think he will be in camp long, but I hope so.

Did it say that Devine was expected to sign? I can’t remember, and I can’t go back and check either because the original post is gone! The URL was changed: before it said Devine signed.

I’m not even sure Devine was expected to sign – I think you got bad info. Profootballtalk even thought this was a mistake on your part – so it’s not just this bozo who thought you messed up. You, sir, are the one that is tripping. LO friggin L.

,What happened ? Of all the top rated undrafted college players we got only one? What about Miehl, Oregon, Dana Sanzenbacher, OSU, Henry, Nebraska, Tolliver, LSU just to name a few. What about Lockette? I find it hard to believe that he isn’t as good as the receivers that were signed.

Deeply dissappointed as a fan.

What’s going on with free agency? Hope Atlanta can get at least one good free-agent off the market, preferably Ray Edwards or Cliff Avril, or Brandon Mebane.

I do think that the management staff will make the right decisions. I admit the team’s must first sign it’s talented and first string of free agents. I do believe their are a slew of non-productive players behind them that could be released or signed at a lesser rate. That would free up $$$$’s to go after the big producers in free agency.

As a fan, I just want something positive to happen with Atlanta in free-agency. Each year we seem to sign those that can’t quite get it done at the DE position and too see Green Bay kick the Falcons ass in the ” first round” of the play-off’s was sickening !!!!

It’s great to see all the experts come here and leave all of this great information. The Falcons don’t really need a scouting staff. They simply need to post a blog and collect all of the fine information posted to the blog by all of the experts here… (where are those little rolling eyes smiley faces when you need them?)

[...] In the NFL, the Atlanta Falcons have released their list of 22 undrafted free agents who have signed, and will join the team for training camp, which opens today. Falcons players will take their physicals Thursday, before getting on the field Friday. See D. Orlando Ledbetter’s complete list of undrafted free agents here. [...]

TD and Co. have a history of taking very skilled, smart, and fast players who are too light. A lineman or skill position players who attended a smaller school only because they were 20 pounds lighter than the next best at the position. The falcons cook’s add the weight, and the trainers do what they can so they keep speed and agility while adding the weight. You can’t make a player faster or smarter, but you can easily help add weight.
