The Fans have spoken.

A whopping 65 percent of the fans who responded to my poll question, want to see the Falcons on HBO’s Hard Knocks.

Last week, general manager Thomas Dimitroff, in a major shift in thought, said the franchise would be more open to an invitation in the future.  (The answer before this pronouncement was always a “no way.”)

Falcons coach Mike Smith told the NFL Network that the team discussed it, but agree not to do in 2011. That makes sense coming off the lockout and all. But 2012 would figure to still be in play.

Of the 1,088 fans responding, 45 percent selected “Yes, the show is awesome.” Another 20 percent selected, “Yes, but not after the lockout. 2012 would be better.”

When asked Tuesday if he’d like to appear on Hard Knocks, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan said, “That’s not for me to decide.”

THE POLL RESULTS:

Should the Falcons accept an invite to appear on HBO’s Hard Knocks?

* Yes, the show is awesome. (45%, 494 Votes)

* No, because the the cameras are too invasive. (25%, 273 Votes)

* Yes, but not after the lockout. 2012 would be better. (20%, 213 Votes)

* No, because Kim Zolciak might show up at practice. (10%, 108 Votes)

Total Voters: 1,088

I’m glad that Coach Mike Smith and/or Thomas Dimitroff decided not to do this. The Falcons don’t need all of the distractions from the cameras, microphones and whatever else. Let them concentrate on the task at hand.

Have the Falcons been officially invited, by HBO, to appear on the show? I love the idea, but was just curious.

Matthew – No. They were two years ago, but turned it down. TD went on the radio last week and said the team was open to a possible future appearance.

Thanks D. I appreciate it. I am a huge fan of the show and I hope that they get the offer and get on it. That show and Boardwalk Empire are the main reasons to pay for HBO.

No way!!!! The team deosn’t need the distraction. The lock out is a big enough distraction without adding a Reality TV show to it. Let’s let the team fly just below the national radar and see when the national “experts” finally figure out the Falcons are for real!
GO FALCONS!!!
