FLOWERY BRANCH – The Falcons will open their unofficial minicamp on Tuesday at an undisclosed site. The camp is closed to the public.
The players, who are locked out and can not use the team’s facilities, will hold their own seven-on-seven drills.
Last season, the Falcons held their minicamp May 7 through 9. The team’s organized training activities were held May 25 through June 17.
Most of the players have been participating in a strength and conditioning program in Cumming since early March. Quarterback Matt Ryan and wide receiver Roddy White are expected to participate in the minicamp. It is not known if rookie Julio Jones will attend.

Julio BETTER be there! He needs to fully understand what this franchise sacrificed to bring him here and do everything humanly possible to justify it.

Julio needs to find himself a house. It’s not like he has nothing to do between now and September but practice. Of course it would be great if he made these unofficial practices, but give the guy a break!

Julio shouldn’t be there to risk injury and millions of dollars if he has any sense. Now if he plans to attend to start learning the plays, then that’s different.

The falcons are holding an illegal minicamp? That sounds unethical. Maybe the birds should call up Thomas Paine.

i second that emotion regarding, Julio. the man does not have a contract, so if he injures himself what then. Beckzhere why don’t u cover the premium on an insurance policy since he better be there.
on another note i’ve sent email’s via the falcon website asking that Blank and other owners end the “lockout” while still negociating.
good luck with that i know – but perhaps fans from all over should do the same.

Its funny how much it bothers people to read first, second, third. If you don’t like it then skip them. What’s the big deal? People on blogs get bothered over the smallest things like first second third, or when a noob comes in a forum and ask a question. Chill out already!

Oh, for heaven’s sake! It’s football, not baseball. If the Braves did a voluntary mini-camp they’d all be on the DL. And, yes, I oppose disallowing deck chairs during games for major league position baseball players.

I have to agree withe poster at 6:02 who stole my highly original name. Who cares if someone wants to say first etc… The AJC blog bosses encourage this big time. If you want to get whiney about something focus on all the pathetic losers who live to post negative comments on message boards for teams they hate. These pitiful morons have to be some of the saddest people on the planet.

That’s precisely why Julio left Alabama just before earning his degree — so he could play pickup football for free! I wonder what the premium on a $60,000,000 insurance policy would be.

What is wrong with this picture on players scheduled private practice? Owners and players please reach an agreement and lets play football! Mr. Blank, use your influence with the other owners and bargain in good faith with the players. Players, use some common sense in your demands, after-all, you are working for your franchise owners and that is not going to change. All i can add to this is: don’t let the actions of a few on both sides keep the majority from reaching a new agreement both sides can live with! This is driving us football fans crazy who work for pennies a day but love our football games!

Now is when a team will win the Super Bowl. The team that has guys sit around and not go to camps like this aren’t going to be ready. Hopefully, the Falcons will all be there and will do what they need to do to be ready for Week 1 in Chicago. Hopefully, the Falcons have enough good leadership to run an effective camp. Hopefully….

I hate reading comments here about people hating people saying they’re 1st, 2nd, etc.
Sports fans are here to read about competitors, and competition… and (of course) many themselves are competitive. A race to be 1st, 2nd, etc. is a form of competition. So, get over it and have fun with it… or just ignore it… but don’t hate it. Go Dawgs, Falcs, Braves and especially, tonight, GO HAWKS!

You gotta love the unspoken denial that runs just under the surface. It’s been going on since before last season. No one wanted to talk about 2011 and the season that stood not to be. The sports media flat-out denied that this would happen… but of course, who believes them anymore, anyway, lol. They are vested partners in the NFL.
I do not personally blame the Falcons organization or its players. This is about a billionaires club facing of against a larger group of multi-millionaires. we the people; the lowly fans who depend on football season to save us from ragged housewives and obnoxious children, are left out of the equation. No matter how much we spend on tickets, on team sportswear, on products from the sponsors… nobody stopped to ask us what we thought.
Personally, I think I may lock the NFL out of my life for a few years. It might do both of us some good.
