INDIANAPOLIS — Miami defensive end Allen Bailey, who is the player I had the Falcons selecting the Mockiavelli 1.o, has interviewed with the team.

“I talked to the Browns, the Chargers, Tampa Bay, the Falcons and the Chiefs,” said Bailey on Saturday.

He felt that his interview went well.

“I talked to the Falcons at the Senior Bowl also,” Bailey said.

He considers stopping the run to be the strength of his game.

“I’m willing to work on the things I need to correct,” said Bailey, who was measured at 6-foot-3, 285 pounds, had a wingspan of 82 ½ inches and a size 10 ½ hands.

Don’t thinks Bailey is the answer for falcons
seemed to disappear in big games for the canes

reminds me on someone they already have that disappears

Wow, third…on the move. I don’t believe Bailey is the answer as a bookend pass rusher. In The Know knows that we can do better in selecting a defensive end…let’s look at the guy, Pernell McPhee out of Miss State.

Bailey fits the same role as DE’s Davis and Jamaal Andersen. It is stupid to consider wasting another number one pick for the same type of player they currently have. What part of Rushing the passer do Dimitroff and Mike Smith not understand? What about Bierrmann and Sidbury? Will Dimitroff finally admit he don’t have a clue on personnell!

At 285, he could grow into a pass rushing DT; we don’t need another Jamal. Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t JA55 play at around 265-270? Maybe TD thinks he can slim down and become more than a run stuffer.

I don’t know about Bailey, but what I do know is the Falcons better get it right. Abe is getting long in the tooth. He despertly needs help.

Or maybe there just doing there due diligence jeeez guys, you act like we already drafted him smh.

I’ve said before TD has no clue. How is it he has been GM of the year for 3 years anyway?

Cliff Mathews Cliff Mathews Cliff Mathews you can get him in later rounds and he is a football player on every play, and can pass rush.So TD stop with the Allen thoughts PLEASE PLEASE> D Led tell him

I’ll rubber-stamp the Cliff Matthews proposal but I really like Steven Friday even better. Either will add some speed to the pass-rush. One thing we could do on the interior to instantly improve would be one of the bigger DT/NTs like Kendrick Ellis, Sione Fua, maybe Jarvis Jenkins to force some double teams. We already have good gap-penetrators in Jerry, Peters & Co. and a Space-eater like Ellis could open up some different fronts/looks to attack the OL….

He isn’t what we need. We don’t need a run stuffer, we have that. We need a PASS RUSH?!!! Damn, what does it take to finally get a pass rush in this organization?!

If we can get him in the 2nd rd fine, but he should not be our first pick

I think Bailey might fall into late second round and the Falcons should consider taking him there. I think the first pick has to be DE and Bailey is there in the 2nd than take him there and have 2 DE’s to build around. Cause we all know in 2 years that Abraham, Davis and Anderson aren’t gonna be there.

Falcons relax...

Did the draft happen already?? Did we already draft this guy in the 1st? THE TITLE SAYS WE INTERVIEWD HIM. THATS ITS!!!! Man this is getting hold. Some of you knee jerk way to fast. I agree with some are saying though about he isn’t the answer. I say give Biermann more time to develop the same way we did with Grimes. Biermann just missed a lot of sacks last year. He was close to a lot. I say rebuild the o-line. Draft Mike Pouncey and more o-lineman. No need to worry about WR because Meier is coming back and we will get Fitz or Calvin Johson next year in free agency.

The most important thing for TD to do in order for that to happen is to draft “NEEDS” and not “WANTS.” Screw the al davis sexy picks. Thats what messes you up. There is still ton of work to be done. They’re still Petrino/Mckay Non Dimitroff guys still on this team. I.E. Jenkins, Anderson, etc.

Using a draft pick on a DE to groom and replace Abarham in a few years would be great, but the glaring and long-standing lack of a capable DE to play opposite end to the only pass rusher we have must be addressed via free-agency. HOW MANY MORE YEARS DO WE WAIT.

Who else did the Falcons talk to as well? Don’t panic everyone D Orlando is playing it up so it looks like hes could have been right in his mock draft.

No sweat DOL you will do better in your next mock draft, unless you think it’s called a mock draft because you want us to mock you.

You see what I did there?

We need a wide receiver. How many drafts under Smith do we waste on defense without getting any results. Here’s a new idea…..draft an offensive player! Let Matt Ryan grow…..

Bailey, in the first, seems like a reach to me. He is just too much like Jamaal Anderson for my taste. If we are destined to take a DE in the first than it should be Adrian Clayborn. He’s a high character, high motor guy that has a lot of leadership skills. He would be perfect for RDE and allow Kroy to move behind Abe for a season. However, I think the man we should be concentrating on will be the steal of the entire draft, Greg Romeus.
Here’s a guy the Falcons should be able to get in the third but who has first round talent. The only problem with him is that he has some injury concerns due to his Senior season. However, that was the only time he really got dinged. I will add in that he got 19.5 sacks in what amounts to only three seasons. He also has 38.5 tackles for loss and four forced fumbles. Even if we take a DE in the first I don’t think we should pass up this kid.
Also, I would hope that Jonathan Baldwin could last until our second round pick. That would be a true gift. It would also give us a great draft. I don’t think he’ll be there but he is good.

guys if bailey would have been on any other team hed be a top ten pick. The problem is shannon and his program at the U. Im a huge canes fan and this guy has all the upside in the world. Coach Golden has come in and in short embarassed about what was going on under shannon,
Lets take Sam Shields for instance. He couldnt crack the depth chart at UM b/c he was in Randys doghouse. Whne GB got their hands on him, their coaches words were ” I dont know what they are teaching or coaching down in Miami but its not working. Sam didnt even know how to watch game tape when he go here”….

Enough said.

Bailey is a beast of a specimen. He has about 5% body fa. Will run a 4.5 40 easy. Only down side is, he has no neck :)

Look everyone. This is just speculation. Don’t take shots at TD, because he has done good in the draft. Dimitroff and Coach smith have done to this franchise what no other has, back to back winning seasons. They know what the need is and they will address it. Just give them time.

Wow, even some Atl people are as much of a jerk as all of the Aints fans. It just really kills me to hear people making comments when they dont even know the aheletes game or personal history. Please post your own scouting analysis, draft board, 2010 falcon individual player assessments and FA evaluations to back up your opinions. If you can’t, please go entertain some other audience with your negative and unsubstantiated misinformation. Fox news will air any old lie.
Oh, and you fans that end in “dawg” even though you may be proud of “Georgia” or your southern heritage being a bulldog fan these days detracts from your football intelligence score.

Dear No Clue: You say TD has no clue about personnel? With three back-to-back winning seasons I just wish the Falcons had had GMs with no clue all along. Everyone will make a mistake now and then, but you certainly can’t argue with success, and TD has been the most successful GM the Falcons have ever had.

Packers GM way better than Dimitroff.
It’s pretty obvious with their overcoming a deluge of injuries that continued into the Superbowl while the Falcons can’t overcome a nickle back injury.

Packers GM has had more time to develop that team Robert. I love the progress that Dimitroff and company has made so far.

To all of you who think Dimitroff isnt a great GM then just look at what he’s done for this team! Matt Ryan, Roddy could have been traded at any time cause he had started to seem like another WR bust but TD stuck with him, gave him time to grow now is a top 5 recevier in the game, Tony G (FUTURE HALL OF FAMER) for a 2nd round pick, Mike Turner. Dunta Robinson hasnt turned out like we’d hope YET but he will.

Oh and for the record, it’d be great to see Clavin Johnson wearing a #81 Falcon jersey in a few years…what D Cord would want to have to try to stop Roddy and Calvin…Opperation bring Calvin home starts NOW! haha

Bailey isn’t close to the same type player Jamal Anderson was coming out of Arky. Anderson was an outside pass rusher and little else. Bailey is very strong against the run and he’s better taking the inside pass rushing routes. G.B. kicked our azzes with guys that fit his type.

the Falcons aint going to say who they are really interested in this early in the draft process. They aint stupid to disclose that.

This is to throw other teams off of who they really want so the teams around them picking dont get any bright ideas.

When you really look at it, the Falcons have alot of needs that wont even be addressed in this draft. It showed when they got trounced by Green Bay. Turner the burner has to go. Trade him for draft picks NOW.
Aberaham is past his prime. Trade him NOW.
Trade Gonzalez too .

Problem is no one wants Norwood or any of these has beens.

It could be 2-3 more years to get it right . That is if TD dont make any mistakes again.

The cornerback from Texas is a bust .

Guy cant intercept his mama.

Falcons need to focus on best available player at each turn in the draft. They may over load missing a need, but can pick up off waivers, or trade to fill gaps. Getting best availble gives you a bargain tool and insures strenght of competition at each spot. We need reserves as much as we need to fill gaps!!!

The Falcons have enough under size DE.The Falcons needs a 6”5 or a 6′6 DE.with speed. Not another plow horse.I would like to see them get a cover corner and a wide receiver that have speed and hands.and 6′4

I forget how many idiots get on the blogs. People saying TD can’t draft and doesn’t know what he’s doing…having zero intellect on a college player saying he’ll be a bust…bloggers should have to take an IQ test before posting. I’ll trust a GM and the coaching staff that has given the Falcons 3 straight winning seasons.

Im not opposed to drafting a top quality DE that would fit the falcons scheme but they still need to work on stopping the pass a little bit better. I wish that van gorder would blitz a little bit more and having another good DE with abraham would help….We also need to be addressing another tight end soon to replace gonzalez ….the key is to remember rome wasnt built in a day and at least we are a winning football team and not losing …we are slowly building a team for dominant future seasons

Interesting comment that Bailey “has no neck.” Look at #56 in the photo; that guy has a neck. His head is swiveled around almost completely backward trying to tackle that VT quarterback.
