Senior Bowl: Boise State WR Titus Young making some noise

Boise State receiver Titus Young is turning some heads at the Senior Bowl. (Associated Press)

Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff checked in via cell phone from the Senior Bowl last night.

We had some off the record things to clear up and on the record, he wanted to assure the Falcon fans that the team will make a very thorough and detailed search for the next quarterback coach to replace Bill Musgrave, who left to become the coordinator in Minnesota.

The team recognizes that quarterback Matt Ryan is at a critical stage in his development and that he is the franchise quarterback that they feel will eventually take them to the Super Bowl.

There is no timetable for the search, but it will kick into overdrive when the coaches return from the Pro Bowl next week.

NFL.Com’s Jay Feller wrote a piece from an interview on Sirius Radio on how TD is dealing with the playoff loss and how he’s ramping up for the draft.

The Falcons are picking 27th and several onlookers down in Mobile have reported that Dimitroff and Les Snead, the director of player personnel, have been intensely studying the wide receiver group.

Also, one receiver who is turning a lot of heads in Mobile is Boise State’s Titus Young.

Yes, Mr. Ledbetter, a little more info and background on Titus Young would be helpful. I did not watch the All-Star game.

I love it. Lets’s get a big/fast reciever opposite Roddy White. Put Jenkins @ 3 then alternate HD & Weems at the slot, along with quick running back. That would definitely open up the offense

Titus Young measured in at 5′11 175. The guy is a play maker, but man that’s small.

Who are they going to trade to Arizona to get him that Arizona would accept? Do you really want to be paying 2 WRs $10M+ a year?

Looking is not drafting. We do have seven rounds so it doesn’t have to be a first rounder.

Number 85 in Cincy will not be paid the bonus he is due and will be cut.
But we won’t even go there.

Wonder if Dimitroff has Mark Richt on his list of possibilities for QB coach? No idea if it’s the best choice, but worth consideration? He had a pretty good track record developing QB’s at the college level. None of those guys made a big splash in the pro’s, but that just makes me wonder if they were coached up beyond their talent level(s).

5′11″ and 175 is the same size as Harvin and Deshaun Jackson. Titus Young is big enough and more importantly FAST!

Falcons need to work on Defense in this draft and free agency. How can you allow a team to go for 41 coming off a bye week. They need a DE and #2/3 CB. If they draft WR, it’ll be the worst move TD has made as GM

We need to make a play for Big Play CJ when he becomes a free agent. I bet he would love to be back in Atlanta and could help Matt Ryan win a super bowl.

I think we should trade up for julio jones i would prefer a.j. green but thats least likely we can pick up d lineman in free agency adding corner frm the draft we mainly need consistent pressure on the qb to give our cbs a chance we have good enough corners on the outside we need a better nickelback

Titus Young is a game changer/big play type receiver, if he available when we pick in the 2nd its a no brainer, speed, elusiveness, hands etc he would be a good compliment to Roddy or a stud in the slot.
Our first order of bussiness should be the best LT/DE available

Any thoughts on Young’s fellow Bronco WR Austin Pettis? We need a change of pace in the backfield with excellent recieving skills. Who is out there beyond the popular backs that we might pick-up in the 3rd or 4th round? The Pouncy kid from FL would be a great pick-up @ center as the eventual sucessor. There’s a number of good OT in the draft. Does anyone see that as an area of need or planning for the future? UGA LB Dent has looked good all year long, but do we have a spot for him? Need a good show stopping CB to add to the mix. Any suggestions on how we can get more pressure on the opp.s QBs? Just some thoughts to throw out there.

I’ve watched both of them play here in Boise for years. Young had some serious maturity issues early on, and sat out most of a season on suspension. He did have very solid jr and sr years, but that’s an issue TD will need to review closely. Pettis, on the other hand, has been rock solid throughout his career. Tall, excellent hands–and while he doesn’t have the same speed as Young, he gets open and is very reliable catching the ball.

GTFALCON EXACTLY!!!!! I swear TD has something up his sleeve. MEgatron is from ATL and will be a free agent next year. See when we don’t draft a WR until round 4th thru 7th falcons are gonna be pissed. I won’t, because I truly feel that TD is gonna go agressive next year for MEgatron. We jus spent money on Dunta. The key is drafting a lot and taking care of the needs, so if the lions won’t to use the franchise tag on Johnson, it won’t matter to give up a 1st round pick because most key positions are already filled. White is a poor mans reggie wayne, time for him t take on that role. While I feel that ATL still needs to get ryan his MARVIN HARRISON.

I do believe TD will go after Megatron NEXT YEAR. The key of this draft, is o-lineman, scatback RB, defensive help, AND BACKUPS.

We need defense!…some more of it! We need someone to push Decoud…I don’t think he played good this year. He got burnt a lot.

Geez. We need corners, safeties and a few linebackers. And we’re looking at taking Titus Young as our 1st rounder? No no no. Offense had little to do with Brian Van Gorder’s crappy defense getting smoked out of the playoffs…..get a corner or a hard hitting safety. And FIRE that idiot Van Gorder and his Porn Stache!

well if the falcons are gonna boost up at reciever atleast let them start
for example mike williams in tampa bay
they let him start and look how good he is..
these young players need a chance to shine ..let them play
i bet you dominique franks DB in atlanta has more skill than Chris owens
but they didnt let him play…. i say draft baldwin or titus and if so let them start on the other side of roddy white

We should go for Justin Houston in the 1st rouund to help John Abraham and KRoy Biermann out with sacks. If we can get Titus Young in the 2nd Round great pickup to be the number 2 recicever to help white out.

Petton Manning had a string of years before he advanced in the playoffs and if Ryan turns into another Donnnan McNabb he will still have done more than any other Quarterback in Falcon history so at this point I am “cool” with having Matty Ice as the franchise Qb. Wide out is a position that may very well have to be addressed in the first round but most of the other areas of concern ( rb, de,ol,te, and secondary) can be address in the later round ( rb,ol,& te ) or in free agency this season.
