NFL reduces Dunta Robinson’s fine by $25,000

FLOWERY BRANCH — Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson’s fine was reduced by $25,000 by the league for a hit

he made on Philadelphia’s DeSean Jackson on Oct. 17. He appealed his original fine of $50,000.

“I feel a little bit better,” Robinson said. “I appealed and it took a long time. I guess they had to really sit down and think about it and just decided what they wanted to do.”

Robinson was not given a rationale behind the reduction.

“I just stressed that I’ve never been a dirty player,” Robinson said. “We went over some of the other hits that I had throughout my career and maybe that made a difference, not being in trouble before for spearing or hitting illegally. That ultimately was probably the reason why they reduced the fine.”

The league recognized the fact that was the first and only play Robinson made all year and showed him some love and lowered his fine.

Scott, thats the only play he’s made all year? Thats because he has been lock down and rarely gets thrown at. Grimes has had so many pics this year in part because of Robinson’s great coverage skills. I hope Robinson gets a chance to crack Jackson again! (legally, of course)

He should never have been fined, or penalized.
That was a legal hit, all of the way through the play.

It was legit clean hit. NFL overreacted that week.

I still say the reason Desean Jackson and other WRs are acting the fool over the middle is b/c the NFL is outlawing the enforcer DB by punishing “violent” hits.

If Jackson learned anything from Robinson’s hit it’s that the NFL will not allow anyone else to hit him that hard. Against a Jack Tatum or Ronnie Lott he, or a fellow WR, would be maimed the next time thru the middle.

The current system seems haphazard and arbitrary. I suggest that each case be judged by a panel of officials, players and coaches (not involved in the game, of course). The players should be balanced among offense and defense.

Only after a consensus of this panel should a fine or any action above and beyond a penalty called during the game be applied.

I think that would be more sportsmanlike (in lieu of the word fair).

Go Falcons!!!

All for penalties when they are intentional, but that one was NOT intentional! I’m with Gov Rendell of PA! We are becoming a nation of WUSSIES — and think it is being fostered by too many mommies and daddies, and supported in our public schools!

The NFL is being reduced to a league of frilly underthings and strawberry daiquiris. Fining players for hard hitting is like putting someone in jail for burping in church. I guess they are doing there dead level best to start introducing female players.

take it from me.

lol @ take it from me. Dunta hasn’t had the spectacular plays as a falcons yet, should’ve had his 1st INT either last week or the week before. I can say none of our CBs gave up a big play to Drew Brees. The guy will come out and play though, I think he will be 1 of the key guys for us in the playoffs.

The play on Jackson was legit…….shouldn’t have been fined. But good to know both players are fine.

take it from me.

Take me back to the good old days, when men were men,and claude humphey and john zook use to slap lineman in the head and the meet at QB and throw him on his head! now thats football, the way it used to be played.my kind of football!

The hit looked worse than it really was in large part because DeSean Jackson is so little. On a normal sized WR, that hit probably doesn’t draw such a huge fine to begin with.

I just love how all you tough guys whine about the hits being reduced. Wonder how much you’d love it when you’re the one who gets laid out. I hate when a player gets all excited after a big hit, and the other guy still held on to the ball. Celebrate if you stop the completion.

Hi Mr Ledbetter. Please read my first post carefully. Is it out of line or pessimistic? Disrespectful? Remember I have been Falcon sufferer since 1966. I value your opinion. If you say it is I accept your decision. Do not think so. Thanks for open minded site. Do not use other one. Unwanted there. Oh well. Best…

Michael Sick not NFL MVP after all! Eagles upset by Vikings. Vikings! Snicker. Hee hee. I love it. Maybe Obama will give him a kiss to cheer him up. Sorry pieces of trash. Andy Reid looked so unhappy. Glad fat ignoramus had no challenges on first down spot. Now the jackass knows how Mike Smith felt during that ream job seasons ago. Hate those Eagle whiners! If Falcons want to defeat Panthers they better blitz, blitz then blitz some more. (Defense) may have to score. Have no confidence in Falcon offense any more! Let all down big time against Saints. If Falcons lose to Panthers then mark down first game playoff exit. Do not say that is impossible. THESE ARE THE FALCONS! STENDEK

Scott. I agree with you all the way. What the hell do you people mean thay don’t throw his way? In the N.O. game every pass thrown his way was caught except the one over thrown pass that he should have had an INT. He is over paid nobody.

as I understand it, the penalty is supposed to be for helmet to helmet contact. Judging by the replay, if helmet to helmet contact occurred it was minimal. Therefore it seems to me that Dunta was fined for hitting too hard. What’s next? Running too fast? Jumping too high? excessive effort? May I suggest that we change our team colors to pink and violet so as to better reflect the modern NFL. Oh I nearly forgot. Have a great New Year excepting New Orleans of course.

Take a second look at some of the defenders wiffing on Drew Brees the other night. How many of those misses (Spoon) do you think were due to the excessive penalty rule?

Dunta did exactly what you do to a smurf when he sprints across the defense; plant him. Lincoln Field will be sprouting little baby smurfs come spring.
