FLOWERY BRANCH – The Falcons promoted safety Rafael Bush from the practice squad to the roster on Wednesday.

A roster spot became available when safety Shann Schillinger, who was playing on special teams, was placed on injured reserved with a fractured ankle.

The Falcons also added wide receiver Brandyn Harvey to the practice squad.

Bush, 5-11, 195 pounds, was signed as an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina State by the Falcons after the 2010 NFL Draft.

Bush was waived as part of the NFL’s mandatory roster cut down on September 4 and signed to the practice squad on September 5.

Bush was voted the S.C. State’s most valuable player as a senior after finishing the season with 54 tackles and three touchdowns.

Harvey was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Villanova by the Falcons after the 2010 NFL Draft. He was waived prior to the start of the season.

Harvey recorded 131 catches for 1,835 yards and 11 touchdowns in his colligate career.

So What? Ignorance really is bliss, huh. Do a little research and you will find out that Historically Black Colleges and Universities were the RESULT of systemic racism against Blacks, not the misguided reverse racism you have been mis-educated to believe. There was a time not too long ago in this country that Black people were not allowed to attend the majority of schools in this country. Therefore we created our own educational opportunities. Isn’t that what all you conservative, pull yourself up by your own bootstraps say we need to do?

And then to top it all of, White people were NEVER EVER, in the history of HBCU existence, excluded or forbidden to attend an HBCU.

Your ignorance may go unremarked where you come from, but don’t bring that nonsense around here.

IF BLACK COLLEGES ARE SO “HOT” FOR BIG-TIME PLAYERS – Why are they never in the top twenty or bowl games at the end of the year? HuM?

That’s the whole point of hbcuclassics.com.

Americans simply don’t know their own history and if someone doesn’t remind them it will be distorted.

White people attend, graduate, work, teach, coach, administrate and play for HBCU’s.

Currently, some of the top players in HBCU football are white players: Mike Mavromichalis, Albany State and Thibodeaux, Jackson State to name a couple.

Most of all HBCUs were started by white religious groups, some before, but most after slavery.

HBCUs are national treasures with a unique educational mission – to educate the descendants of slaves and freedmen. However, all are welcome to share in that unique, culturally enriching endeavor.
