Falcons offensive coordiantor Mike Mularkey and quarterback Matt Ryan are ready to expand the use of the no-huddle attack and maybe throw in some gadget plays. (CURTIS COMPTON/AJC).

FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey made it clear that his focus is on the team’s playoff march and not on landing a head coaching job when talking with the media on Tuesday.

He was cordial in telling us that he wasn’t aware of an ESPN report about him being a candidate for the Denver Broncos’ top job.

Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey.

Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey. did state that he wanted to be a head coach again. That was news because it was not clear if his experience in Buffalo had soured him on being the head guy again.

Mularkey said he’d worry about his head coaching aspirations later.

“I don’t know anything about it,” Mularkey said. “I’ve got so many other things to deal with. I literally take it day-by-day. That’s just the way this business is, especially with the travel that we’ve got coming and the games that we have coming. There is no room for it.”

Tuesday is game-planning day and Mularkey took a break to update us on the offense and deal with the head coaching report.

“That hasn’t even crossed my mind,” Mularkey said. “I didn’t hear that report. We still have to win this football game. I’m telling the players to focus on the now, don’t worry about anything else. Don’t worry about what anybody else is doing. There is no control over what anybody else is doing with regards to jobs or any of that.

“All I can do is help these guys win this game. That’s been my approach with them and that’s been my approach.”

Mularkey, 49, was the head coach of the Buffalo Bills in 2004 and 2005. He posted a 14-18 record. He went 9-7 in 2004, Buffalo’s last winning season. He went 5-11 in 2005.

Mularkey, who’s in his third season with the Falcons, and assistant head coach/quarterbacks Bill Musgrave have been credited with the development of third-year quarterback Matt Ryan and with helping head coach Mike Smith guide the Falcons to three straight winning seasons.

Does it have Talons?- We do not throw the Deep-ball enough. I see the rest of the teams doing it all the time on Sportscenter. Now go feed Tina.

#1 – not a “Dawg”
#2 – odds on 7 – 5:1; odds on 6 or 8 – 6.2:1

Please don’t argue this point; you are out of you league.

High pctg short yardage passes are not bad “eats up the clock” coupled with the hardnosed running attack. That being said, timing is near for us to see to that long ball attack, coming soon enough.

Falcons are fine even if they don’t throw deep they are balanced we need to shore up the defense cause it can get too loose at times.

I bet on 6 or 8 everytime, sometimes the hardways!

I agree with Greg and hjones. Too predictable. Paddy, other OC’s may have worse records but that may be because they don’t have the weapons MM has. They might be winning these close games we are supposed to win easily by the larger margin we are supposed to. I may be wrong but I don’t think I would mind seeing him go.

Also I always wondered why some post were “Enter your comments here”. Now I know how that is done.

I think that Blank should do whatever it takes to keep Mularky and Van Gordor. I think it would be a sound investment to overpay for an OC and a DC. Of course, I blog about the Falcons and Blank owns the Falcons… so… maybe he should make that call.

Who do you think made the plays for matt ryan for the no-huddle? The no-huddle works on the defense due to speed of the play and the defense cannot audible a change if need be.

DumbA$$ — NO way you can roll a 6 or 8 at the same time…… “HELLO” —- Percentages of the number of throws vs the odds of what number the dice would land on per throw = the odds of the number of times/chances vs 7 or 6/8 —- ComON – Man call whoever you need to check it out —- “YOU ARE WRONG” —- Just keep betting “NO Passline” then look around the table and count how many “MORONS” bets “NO PASS” vs those that bet the numbers

I dont like when other teams take your coaching staff during the year of football play. Do that stuff at the end of the season. Give coach mularky a chance to get to the playoffs. This is a big year for him. Wait to the end of the season if you really want him. He’s working on something BIG right now. COACH MULARKEY STAY TO THE END. RISE UP

No matter how good you are, there are always ways to improve. Some of us see that, some don’t. We are very proud of our Falcons but see ways to improve. Most that go by records (11-2, 1st in this or 5th in that) don’t seem to see the big picture and have very little experience in having a good team for years to come.

“At the same time” How many times you seen a 6 and 8 at the same time? You said it – STUPID

Any 5th grader knows the chance of a 7 is greater than any other number. If you want to combine chances, the chance of 6 or 8 is significantly less than NOT 6 or NOT 8.

But I guess you failed basic logic as well. Perhaps you should stick to Jeff Foxworthy’s show – it’s more your speed.
