FLOWERY BRANCH — Falcons wide receiver Roddy White and tight end Tony Gonzalez are getting some love in the fan voting for the 2011 NFC Pro Bowl squad, according to the results released by NFL.com earlier this week.

The league announced the leaders at each position so we don’t know how the rest of the Falcons are doing.  But fan voting continues through Monday, Dec. 20 online and on web-enabled mobile phones by going to NFL.com/probowl.

The Falcons have it set up where you can vote through the teams’ Facebook page at www.facebook.com/atlanta falcons and you have to click the “Pro Bowl” tab at the top of the page.

(REMEMBER: CHICAGO VOTING RULES APPLY – VOTE EARLY AND OFTEN!!!)

The Falcons have the best team in the NFC at 8-2 and should have more players leading at their positions. Matt Ryan is trailing Michael Vick and Aaron Rodgers, because they were both in the top 10 vote getters. (The Packers fans know how to stuff the ballot box.)

linebacker Curtis Lofton will get a lot of attention from the coaches and players. Lofton should be able to overtake San Franciso’s Patrick Willis. If Willis is so good, the 49ers would be 3-7. Also, he didn’t do much when they played the Falcons.

The fans, players and coaches vote for the teams. Each group’s vote counts one-third toward determining the teams. The players and coaches will vote on Dec. 22 and 23.

The teams will be announced at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28 on a special NFL Total Access 2011 Pro Bowl Selection Show on NFL Network.  The 2011 Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 at 7 p.m. ET at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.

I don’t care what you say, I wish we took Patrick Willis that year in the draft. We could’ve and should’ve.

a comment from milwaukee paper forum:

Actually, the Falcons 8-2 record is a smoke screen. 5 of their wins have come against teams with losing records (just like the Packers.) The other 3 wins are against TB, NO, and BAL. Here’s the thing: TB Hasn’t won a game against ANY team with a winning record. NO has only won two games against teams with a winning record (but one of those was Tampa) and BAL has only won two gaems against winners as well. OF all their wins, the Ravens were of the highest quality. The other 7 are basically against lousy teams (The NFC south has the easiest schedule of all divisions.)

I don’t think the Packers can take this game lightly at all, because no matter how bad the opponent, Atlanta has done what they had to to win the games. However, the Falcons do not need to be feared. Their record is a very hollow record indeed (even more so than the Packers.) This Sunday will show who the real contender is.

apparently, the Packers have nothing to worry about.

“Falcon”,
…don’t wanna slip in the playoffs; too many decent to good teams (including the bears whom nobody saw this happening with).
I’m excited to see where my Packers are at; nobody up here is taking the Falcons lightly I can tell you that. Packers are more focused on “how” they play, what they do…and not “who” they play and what that team does. That starts with Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson.

…after all the injuries this year, nobody up here saw this (7-3) happening either; while Coach McCarthy and Ted Thompson can’t and won’t use injuries as an excuse…I can and have. I’m surprised that they’ve won 4 in a row, considering who they play, where and with this many devastating injuries. I was afraid that the year was over when they were 3-3.
It’s a testament to McCarthy and the staff that they’ve held this thing together.

Willis better than Lofton? Maybe, maybe not. Probably a good debate.

If the Packers come in here thinking they have nothing to worry about they will get their A$$ handed to them. I dont expect that to be the case…

…I have read nothing which would indicate that they’re taking the Falcons lightly; there is no reason to.
8-2 speaks for itself.
On the contrary, I think they see themselves (all year long) as underdogs, on the road, in a hostile dome, versus the best record in the NFC. Nah…they know ATL is for real…and they’re gonna bring their “A” game, I’m sure.

A loss would hurt GB much more because it would essentially give ATL a 2 game lead. An ATL loss and the teams are tied with GB holding the tiebreaker…not nearly as precarious a position given there are 5 games left.

@QUICK80…I appreciate your mature discussions and support for your team. We don’t get too much of that on these blogs anymore. As a fan of football, I hope this game goes down as one of the greatest ever played……with ATL squeaking away with a victory, of course :)

Vegas has the Eagles, Packers and Patriots 7/2 favorites to win the Super Bowl.

The Falcons have the best record in the NFC and Vegas says “we don’t buy” it.

Want to talk about NO RESPECT.

As far as the Joe Montana comment, the Falcons don’t run the West Coast Offense and Ryan is far from Joe Montana.

@htwo0rider

Finally someone that makes sense.

The Eagles lead the NFL in wins vs teams with winning records (5).

All quality wins and didn’t need the opponents to miss field goals and strips to win.

LOL @ Ledbetter saying Packers fans know how to stuff the ballot box. Gonzalez, Turner and White SHOULD go to the ProBowl since they carry the Falcons on their backs, but dont pretend like Ryan is one of the top 3 NFC QBs. He is top 6 or 7.

Hi Mr Ledbetter. Fantastic victory! Believe Falcons escaped after extreme error in judgment. Fourth down called for pressure. Why? A great QB will find open receiver if provided enough time. Packer QB did! Previous pressure forced rushed QB throws. One on fourth down which just missed for major gain stands out. Falcons should have brought heat to force quick decision. Anything short of end zone, with tackle of course, meant almost certain victory. Will say Falcons of old would have lost this one. Not these guys! Fab time to be Falcon watcher. Soar even higher birds! STENDEK
