Hi D-Led,

My keys: The Packers seem to have a good defense (0,7, and 3 pts in their last 3 games) but they are weak in the secondary and these victories came against two corpses and the Jets on a bad day. But their offense will shred us if we let them have the ball too much. So:

1) Ball control – this is becoming a Falcons specialty. We have to keep the ball – that means lots of short out passes and pound the tackles.

2) Forget about the run, let the linebackers take away the tight ends and cover the flats.

3) Stunts to get at Rodgers. He still has happy feet to some extent. Forget about blitzes, take away the receivers and work hard to get inside pressure.

Mainly it will come down to ball control.

FIRST!

1. Keep their offense off the field
2. Keep their receivers from running free in the secondary
3. Keep the chains moving.

One of the biggest keys is a stat that often goes unnoticed time of possession. If the Falcons can control the ball with long time consuming scoring drives it will lead to Packer defenders lining up trying to get a breather any way they can. In a lot of ways the Falcons offense can really frustrate an opponents defense just as they did against the Ravens and Rams. The Falcons on defense need to get a good pass rush going against Aaron Rodgers and keep him uncomfortable all afternoon long. Falcons will be too hot to handle for the Packers especially at the GA Dome Falcons 28 Packers 20

1. Score more points than the Packers score.
2. Ball control, keep the it out of Rodgers hands.
3. Stay aggresive on defense the entire game. When the Falcons get a 10-14 point lead in the 3rd qt., don’t act like the game is won, and go into that soft prevent defense, like they have been doing.

Can the Falcons ever beat the Eagles? Well the Eagles look like they are headed to 12 or 13 wins, so it doesnt make much sense for the Falcons to even go to the playoffs if they are just going to lose to the Eagles again.

Cool coverage, but can we please get dled a decent webcam or a good MIC? This sounds so rinky dink for something that the AJC would allow on their site…..I’m pretty sure I could develop a better sound in my house!!

Three keys!
1)Keep an eye on Clay Mathews and keep Ryan off the turf!
2)Spread the ball around to all of our weapons and pound the rock
3)Be creative on offense and let Matt keep running the no huddle

Go Falcons

the eagles game was a complete fluke. If(when)we meet them in the post season, it will be a completly different outcome. we were extreamly outcoached that day. but that will not happen again. Matty Ice looks to have taken complete control of the offence. But first, take care of the Pack this weekend. Close game. the dirty birds will finish on top.

I think Greenbay is a decent team, but to say they are capable of beating the Falcons at home is a long shot. ESPN, or whoever is looking over the games this year… fail to realize that the past 2 games where against teams that were giving up on their coaches, or the quarterback was too old. I think that Greenbay will get a rude awakening against this offense. I think we are seeing Matt Ryan going to a new level in this game and as far as our offensive line… We had 0 sacks @ the Rams, you think I am worried about Greenbay’s D-line? As far as our defense, well… put up or shut up time for them. This game will show if we paid too much for our top corner, and if the pass rushers are playoff capable. I feel this game is gonna be a shootout, hopefully we will be better in the red zone.

I’m not taking us too serious, either. Just want a nice, solid win, slip under the radar and have no one around the league even notice that the Falcons are special. Just dance through until the talking heads say, wow, where did these guys come from?………….as we win the Supper Bowel.

Okay, before all you Falcons analyze the Packers (which I am sure most of you have not watched every game) let’s get some reality here.
1. they do not have a weak secondary. Williams, Woodson and Collins could all be in the pro bowl this year. Woodson and Collins everyone knows and your man above makes the case for Williams.
2. You are saying the Packs d is bad because they played Dallas and Minnesota while hyping Atlanta after playing the Rams???? Excuse me? Here is the quote “We had 0 sacks @ the Rams, you think I am worried about Greenbay’s D-line? ” huh? I understand the Rams have some sacks but they play in the NFC WEST, probably the easiest schedule EVER.
3. Rodgers has happy feet? Really, you must be the only guy I’ve heard say that.

Here are some more tidbits; yes the Packers played a down Dallas team and a down Minnesota team and ANNIHILATED them so bad they fired the coaches the next day. Now, Minn and Dallas have been bad all year but no one killed them as bad as GB.

beat the Jets on a bad day? How about the Packers had a good day? Why do the Jets get the discredit for the loss and the Packers don’t get the credit for the win?

Now I’m not saying GB is better than the Falcons, or can win in the dome, but get real on some facts here.

Instead of dissecting the team you DON’T know, tell me about your team and I will be honest about my team.

Ryann, you make a great case for the Packers. If we are being honest about our team’s strengths and weaknesses, do you feel that the Packers are a balanced offense? Im just curious because as a team the Falcons have trouble with teams that can run the ball in addition to being able to pass. From what I have seen of the Packers, you guys pass the ball an awful lot. Am I correct?

zolaistheone

November 24th, 2010

Sly Ty – Pack does not run a lot. Leading rusher last week was a former Falcons practice squad player – Dimitri Nance – with 37 yards or something like that. Not a run-first team, or even run-second team. Don’t know what that makes them, but…

Najeh Davenpoop

The Packers are elite at everything except running the ball. If the Falcons can make them one-dimensional and force Aaron Rodgers into some mistakes, they can win the game, but that’s way easier said than done. There are no major holes on their defense, and the Charles Woodson/Tramon Williams combo is probably the toughest test Roddy White will have this year.

Tyson Clabo is going to have to play the best game of his life, having to block Clay Matthews.

Reality check………The Eagles are not going to make in into the playoffs this year.

Samuel

Well the Falcons should run the ball right at Clay Matthews similar to what the eagles did to John Abraham. Secondly we have to get a pass rush and not just from Abe somebody has to make a play. You have to be aware of Charles Woodson coming off the edge, and get him blocked. Also we have to score points in the red zone. Because they have a high power offense. And by all means do what you do best, ball control and time of posession. We simply need to get that defense tired in the first quarter. Pound them early and often.

I would like to wear out their d-line with a few screens to Snelling. I would also like to see our corners knock receivers off their routes. Too many times I’ve seen opposing receivers get a free run at the L.O.S

There is only one thing the Falcons need to do this Sunday against the Packers and that is to play Falcons football.

Run, Run and Run some more timingly. The Packers defense can’t stop the Falcons run game which will lead to play-action pass down field or intermediate passing game.

The Packers will do defensively what the last teams attempted to do to the Falcons. They will stack the box. No team really believe that Ryan will consistently play at the level that he has over the last three games.

So it goes back to Ryan proving to the opposing team that he’s legit passing quarterback. A quarterback that can read defenses and take what the defense gives him without becoming a dink and dunk quarterback.

What team are failing to accept about Ryan is his canny astuteness to the game. Ryan knows where his receivers are suppose to be and he delivers the ball before the receivers get there. So the defenders really is at a disadvantage. Only if Ryan stare down his receivers will the defender know the route.

So I think the Falcons defense shows up stout in this game to build credibility by containing an elite quarterback in A. Rodgers.

The Falcons running backs get just enough creases to exploit Packers second line of defense. Then Ryan and his targets shreds the Packers’ secondary on big plays.

Results 35-19 Falcons.

@Dbird

A fluke is when an under dog upsets you once.

The Eagles last 2 games vs the Eagles is a combined score of 65-24 and Andy Reid has dominated the series and the birds have not beaten the Eagles since the last franchise qb was here and the last game was against their 2nd string qb.

If you think that is a fluke, then you need to look up that definition in Websters.

Also, the Eagles lead the NFL in wins vs winning teams and they are 2nd in the NFL in offense and 1st in the NFC.

Skip Bayless just RIPPED the Falcons being ranked that high on the power polls.
He mentioned something I said “they got embarrassed in Philly with the backup”.

Falcons have proven the can beat good teams, albeit by razor thin margins. First, play smart, no penalties and no turnovers, second, play physical..RUN RUN RUN the ball with Turner, Snelling, Ovie, and the new kid Smith for a change of pace. If we rush for over 125 yds we will win. Third, make Rodgers throw when he doesn’t want to, sacks are great but not necessary, just make him throw it before he wants to and enable our secondary to make plays. Fourth, use Peele and Gonzalez at the same time creating mismatches and confusion.

Hey “Gamer” What makes you think you can run the ball on the Packer defense? When healthy(and they are now) no one has been able to run on them. They were the #1 ranked rush defense last year and when healthy this year have completely shut down opposing team’s rush game,,see Adrian Peterson, LeSean McCoy, LT and Shonne Green, etc. So…good luck with that Turner.

I find it hilarious that Falcons fans and media keep talking about the Rams and Packers as if the Rams have a better defense. Are you people sniffing glue? Green Bay is the #1 scoring defense in the NFL. The only D in the league that stacks up to GBs is Pittsburgh. Do some research before talking stupid.

Hey Quick,

I’m just being sarcastic.

I think it’s going to be a tough, close game. I don’t always go bravado, that’s why the games are played. I sure don’t let opposing fans get to me (too old and been through too much.)

Thanks.

Hey Jim,
…lol; me too (53 next time).
All that really matters is who is better on game day, not who you play.
I’m happy for the Falcons…AND it was nice whuppin Dallas and Minnesota.
The Pack lost the three games by fieldgoals at the end of the game after not playing terribly well (or was it the other team played better?)…havn’t seen the Falcons play, other than highlights.
Do love their uniforms though! (how simple am I?)

Quick,

The Falcons have played only truly bad in one game, Philly.

We have played well against good teams.
We have played poorly against good teams.
We have played well against bad teams.
We have played poorly against bad teams.

Just don’t know which it will be. The one thing we have not done is play a complete game. When we finally do that, we could and would beat anybody. Too bad for you if that is this coming Sunday.

Bottom line, 8 – 2 ain’t bad, no matter how you get there.

Packer fan here. It’s great to see Atlanta have a good team, some fresh blood while the Cowgirls and Queens suffer. Good stuff. This should be a good battle. Packers started rough, 3-3, but were adjusting to MANY injuries. They have made the adjustments and are playing great. We have no running game to speak of but the short 5-6 yard passes Rodgers is so good at take the place of the running game. And they work because of the deep threats (Jennings, Driver, Jones) that we have. You guys are VERY tough at home, Packers are 10-3 in domes under McCarthy. I expect a good game. A win by either team wouldn’t surprise me and there could very well be a rematch in the playoffs. Good luck.

The Packers can’t stop the Falcons run game? Haha. Rude awakening for any Falcons fan come Sunday, that truly believes that. And our secondary is not weak. Where did that come from? Having three Pro Bowlers in one secondary = weak? Again, rude awakening for whoever truly believes that. Now for the person that thinks we beat the Jets because they had a “bad day”, gee ever think our defense was the reason for that? That was another supposed top running game and the result? SHUT.THE. HELL. DOWN.
