ST. LOUIS — Falcons tight end Justin Peelle, in his first game back since under going sports hernia surgery, had a major impact in the 34-17 victory over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.

With the Falcons trailing 17-16, quarterback Matt Ryan completed a 12-yard pass to Peelle. Two plays later, Peelle caught a 2-yard touchdown pass to put the Falcons ahead for good.

Peelle  had not played since the Philadelphia game on Oct. 17.

He was wide open on the touchdown grab.

“They bit on the run and then two guys went with Tony (Gonzalez),” Peelle said. “There was nobody out there.”

Great to see JP get in and hit some people. Our offense was giving out some hits today.

Anybody left out there who still thinks Dunta Robinson is worth $57 million? How about $27 million? $17?

Hey Greg go back and look at the touchdown DR23 gave up, he was all over that guy. I thought he blew it bad but after looking at the picture in the AJC’s “game photo’s” he did all but undress him. I don’t think he’s quite back from his injury yet either. Time will tell if he’s wortth the money or not. At least he’s not an A$$ when he gets beat like D-Hall was (is).

Dunta may not be worth 57M, but he is certainly an improvement over Chris Houston.

Yeah Greg, I do. In the NFL it is all about the pass rush and if you don’t have one any corner back not named Reavis will get burned once in a while. Bottomline, our D is improved from the last 2 years.

Even Revis gets beat sometimes. I thought the D played pretty good. They were making stops on 3rd down and getting off the field.

By the way D-Led . .. . .give my congrats to your fellow journalist M. Bradley on going 9-1 thus far with his Falcons game-by-game predictions. He took a lot of shots back in late August (just had to go back to archives and review his picks again) when he gave his predictions. Thus far, only game wrong was against Steelers. That was his W-L predictions . . .. . .I think he’d probably like to go back and change the Tampa Bay Bucs final score prediction:) Who knew they would get so tough so fast.

Oh . …and hopefully by next Monday M. Bradley is 9-2 and not 10-1 with his game picks. He selected the Packers to win a close one! So I hope he has the same record as the Falcs next monday.

Please quit wasting nearly every 1st down running Turner off tackle for 2 yards. I look forward to the “hurry up” offense just because Matt is calling the plays. Does anyone else see this.
BTW, Turner’s per carry against the Rams was 3.5 prior to the big run at the end of the game.
Do him and the rest of the team a favor and change up the play calling on 1st down. We are not physical enough up front to run first.

I have no problem with Peele’s production, but I think Dmitty-Smitty want to keep two starters in the rotation to promote competition. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but Palmer caught a TD pass in one of the last two games,.

We need to get a change of pace RB in the draft. It looks like Antone Smith isn’t going to be the Jerious replacement. Sit HD and let him get 100% physically and mentally. Finn is clutch and Weems has to be a better option than HD right now.

Nice road Win. 8-2

I’ve been watching Peelle and have been impressed. He sure took a wallop from Dahl, I think that is the last time Peelle will shut down his motor too early.

Its great to see Peele back in action, I remember how well he did two years ago as a receiving tight end prior to Tony Gonzalez coming abroard….We now have that receiving X-Factor back in the lineup…

Just read that the Rams lead the league with 28 sacks. They had no sacks and only one QB hit yesterday on the Falcs. This was attributed to Ryan’s quick release. Even if the quick release played a big factor, the O Line has been performing very nicely as of late.

Nice victory Falcons. Ram QB prevented TD return of 100 or so yards after key interception at end. Things were about to get really scary. Falcon secondary needs tremendous amount of improvement. Too many blown assignments and mishandled interceptions. Falcon front needs to notch up pressure on QB. With or without John Abraham. Still not completely satisfied with offensive play calling. Falcons had no business allowing Rams to continue to hang around. Final score does not indictate closeness of contest. Another Matt Ryan overthrow for TD plus Roddy White drop on third down were not factors. Would be against quality teams like Green Bay Packers or New Orleans Saints. Glad Michael Turner squeezed out over 100 yards rushing with last burst. Deserved plateau. Defense saved day again with end zone interception. Becoming a habit. On top in NFC now but one or two losses can knock Falcons into middle of pack in a hurry. So it goes. Still no respect. Oh well. STENDEK

Here is my ramble: Nice solid road win. I agree with “hike!” that we need to change up 1st down play calling. Why did we not go for it on 4th down instead of trying our first field goal. It was under 5 yds. We got real conservative again in that game. Turner can’t do it inside between the tackles, he does not have that explosive step. They did try to spring him outside which was good to see. Ball control and long drives in 2nd half were very impressive. Problem #2 punt coverage. Once again (other time was vs. Ravens) a guy stepped out of bounds then had first contact on the receiver. Another penalty, another short field. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP. Kick coverage has been abysmal. Nice returns for the Birds though. On defense we may have had no sacks but come on, Bradford was really rattled out there!!! Deer in the headlights! He has a very quick release and he can run, so he’s tough to sack. He gashed us once or twice on a keeper but we had good coverage on most plays. Roddy needs to watch it with the push-offs. People are on to him. Also the personal foul and the drop were bad, he better get used to the smack talk. Are we for real or not, we’ll find out vs. the Packers. GO BIRDS!!! Proud of this team.

Hmmm….Does anyone else realize the Falcons are undefeated outside Matt Ryan’s home state of Pennsylvania this season? 8-0 elsewhere, 0-2 (Pittsburgh and Philly)…I still don’t think Ryan has won up there in the NFL…

Sam Bradford is going to be awesome. DR23 was beaten off the line but he had good coverage, that touchdown pass was just perfect. That pass and then the one over Stephen Nicholas for a first down when he also had good coverage couldn’t have been better passes.

The Falcons still can improve and play better…. but at the end of the day. 34 pts against anyone in the NFL is fantastic.

The only play call I hated in the game was the screen on 3rd and 28 in the first half. Everyone does that it was very easily read and foiled. Why not be contrarian and go right back at Ron Bartell with Roddy White? I would have rather seen them fake the middle screen there and have a go at the seam. Oh well. no harm really.

Hike–I know it ain’t sexy, but those 2 yard runs by Turner throughout the first half are what make possible the 40 yard TD burst late. With the big nastys up front pounding on the D line, they get tired in the second half. Also, without it, the LBs and safety will never bite on play action. It breeds confidence in your O line for the third and ones, and gets your athletic TEs one on one coverage against slower players. It bunches the defense and gives Roddy and Jenk room to work. It also allows Turner to get a feel for the soft spots in the D line and to get his fires lit. It’s not a throwaway down. It has a purpose; it’s just not instant gratification. Turner had 131 yards yesterday. Without the 2 yard runs, the 8, 9, 14, and 40 yarders don’t happen. Admittedly, as evidenced by the Falcons brain trust, being patient, and building for the long haul payoff, works in the game plan, too.

You must be smelling your own body odor! I don’t live in Georgia, I live in New Orleans. If you can’t deal with the fact the New Orleans Saints are the current world champions, perhaps you should try another sport.

What are the odd that LSU can bumble into another National Championship game this year? All that need happen is for Auburn to lose to Bama, LSU beat Arkansas, TCU and Boise to stumble. It’s actually feasible. Not likely though. LSU will just have to settle for another BCS Bowl game. What are the odds of Georgia to make it the National Championship game this year? Give me a minute to get my laughter under control.

BTW, No one has mentioned Katrina, ‘cept you. Get it over it.

Right on JoeFann! You can’t expect a first down every play. Those 2 – 5 yard runs are what gives us short, easier to convert 3rd downs. Turner does look slow a lot of plays but you can’t argue the end result.

TACO: You also didn’t see the water in Nashville, sit, for 3 weeks like it did in New Orleans. They flooded for less than sixteen hours and it brought them to their knees. What do you think would have happened if they had flooded for say, six days?

Anyway, back to football. The Saints are gonna run the table for the rest of the year. Your falcant’s need to start getting serious about football. They have a real chance at grabbing that 5th seed wild card spot and playing at Seattle in the wildcard round, otherwise you may end up in Green Bay in January! Good luck with that!

Great win for our beloved birds, I was one of those that thought this game had “trap” written all over it. It makes you wonder how different things would be if the Rams didn’t pass on Matty Ice two years ago. Their loss, our gain. Matty was brilliant again in the hurry up, his maturity never ceases to amaze me. It was great to have Pelle back, in ‘08 he was strictly a blocker and short range option but he’s become the complete package since then. I thought it was a great homecoming game for William Moore, he really stood out yesterday. Seeing Spoon back on the field was great. The fans need to bring the “A” level noise again Sunday when the Green Bay Slackers come to town. The last two home games have been deafening and we’re going to need it. Rise up!
