Don’t think so! The falcons do not have the defense to be considered the best; furthermore, they have to improve winning on the road. The falcons have had alot of breaks go there way and that happens in the NFL. I believe the Giants are the best in the NFC. I guess we will see tonight!

They have to upgray there WR postion. Micheal Jenkins is a first round bust and holding the team back. Falcons had there chance at TO and Randy Moss but blew it. I predict they loose most of the rest of there games. Mark my words.

I’m pretty sure I saw the Eagles beat the Falcons like a red-headed step child. While the Falcons are in good shape, it’s way too early to crown them “best” anything.

Even if they are it really isn’t saying much as it looks like all NFC teams are bad or average at best. Look at the standings….Four wins is leading each division except ours with five.

Lose most of the remainder of their games??? joke right? we are 2-2 on the road. not great but still 500. 3-0 at home. 3-0 in our conference. the rest of our schedule are teams like st.louis, carolina twice (worst team in the nfc) seattle, tampa twice, greenbay, saints, baltimore. 5 out of the 9 games are played in the Georgia Dome. Carolina games should be wins for sure. St louis as well. tampa shouldnt be a problem. Saints just rolled over them last week in Tampa lol and we beat them last year with Redman. haha only tough opponents left…..Saints (always a great game) baltimore, and greenbay. Those could go either way.

His name is Gartrell Johnson. He was signed off the prctice squad when Norwood went to IRL. He is fourth on the depth chart @ RB after Antone Smith.

Not sure why everyone is looking @ the Ravens game as being so big. The Tampa game is way bigger for obvious reasons, and that is the first of two games in five days.

Right now one would argue the Giants but the G-men have played 4 of 6 at home; Falcons have played 4 of 7 on the road.

Let’s see how the Giants hold up on the road. Falcons do not travel for a month and need to TCB at home before we can tell what’s up.

what ever you do don’t tell ESPN. what a bunch of idiots. this team is 5-2 and and leading a division and they can’t show anything on the Falcons. they almost seem to be black-balling this franchise. they’ll talk forever about other but not Atlanta. definitely no the total sports network. maybe the cowboy, 49er, ny giants, patriots network. but there is nothing total about their biased coverage. don’t know why the Falcons organization hasn’t pressed this issue the NFL and ESPN. they want to generate more ticket sales. this is one way to do that. get yourself on the map.
can’t say the Falcons are the best in the NFC but can’t say they shouldn’t be considered. but they have to correct things like losing to Eagles and Pittsburgh everytime they’re on the schedule. big teams seem to scare them.

I got so sick of hearing how the Falcons defense isn’t good enough to win the Super Bowl. Does anybody remember that the Saints had a defense ranked in the middle of the pack last year and win it all????
I actually think the game in the Dome with the Packers may decide who is going to have the advantage to get that #1 seed.

Here’s the thing:

I had the Falcons pegged at 9-7 this year. What I saw was a team with Captain Checkdown at quarterback, that won’t throw it downfield and will under-utilize Roddy White. I saw someone that will close in on Gonzalez and will restrict the offense.

As a result, I predicted that Turner and Norwood would get hurt and that the Falcons offense will stagnate into something ugly. And I saw that offense in the 2 games that the Falcons lost.

But what I saw yesterday was an offense with a quarterback that was chucking it down the field. It was great! But here’s the bigger thing: I saw Ryan throw it down field and got picked off. And guess what? He chucked it down there AGAIN!

If Ryan continues to do that at least a few times a game, it’s going to be nothing but good. In my opinion, if Ryan throws it down the field, the Falcons will be 11-5.

The best in the NFC? It’s too early, but the Falcons are the best right now.

1.Vikings 2.Eagles 3.Cowboys 4.Giants 5.GB 6.ATL 7.Saints 8.Skins

NFC is far weaker than AFC. That being said, if ATL brings their A game they could potentially beat anyone in the NFC except the Vikings.

Hey Joe Tess Fish House…where the hell did you go to school? Its clear you can’t spell and TO and Moss are prima donas who tear down the chemistry of a team from within. The Falcons must do better against the stronger teams like Philly. In the Red Zone, in my opinion, if you get that close to the end zone you have got to score. We have to shore up our defense first. When we play the good teams we can’t get out coached. We must have home field advantage. The Falcons are a better team at home. Injuries have to be minor and we have to get a speed back in a trade. Well, let’s just wait and see way too many variables right now.

The Eagles are not a better team that the Falcons. The Eagles are not the best team in the NFC.
The Eagles won their game against the Falcons because they had a better game plan.
The Eagle’s coaches out-coached the Falcon’s coaches, plain and simple.

I can’t tell you how glad I was to see the Brown beat the Saints. Thanks Brees for throwing 4 int’s, one for a pick 6. Brees threw 56 passes yesterday so obviously they abandoned the running game (about 50 yards total). Colt McCoy threw for (snicker) 74 yards but they had a very good rushing attack. I hear that Heisman loser Reggie Bush has been cleared for full speed practice but the Saints might be too desperate not to put him in, look for him to get hurt again.;

Falcon Jim, I had that same s__t eatin’ grin when I heard the score. It is weird though that the Saints were ranked 25th in defense at the end of last season and here we sit…………24th on defense……………..could it be……??

DeSean Jackson, Michael Vick, LeSean McCoy. If these three guys are healthy, there’s no question the Eagles are the best team in the NFC.

Until the Cowboys are 1-5 and all the other loveable teams start to choke, the birds will never get respect. Look at Chris Berman who loves to always show the birds when they lose and hates to show them when they win. And the rest of the other ” Great ” commentators who are Falcon haters. Who cares, just win baby. Are the birds the best ? They would have had more love if they beat the Eagles. But they didn’t . We will see and only time will tell. Who is the best in the NFC right now ? No one. We will see at week 17 who is the best. However, I do feel that whatever Mularky did with the offense this week needs to stay the same and Van Douchebag needs to go back to college. Go Birds. 11-5 this year .

First play of the game said it all. When was the last time Atlanta actually passed on the first play of the game. It didn’t matter that it was a swing pass to Turner, it was the fact that they didn’t run. They were…UNPREDICTABLE!. Once we showed the Bengals we were going to be throwing the ball, they had to change their game plan and never got into sync for the rest of the half. That is what everyone has been saying all along. We had become too predictable and when we stretched the field, it paid big dividends.

old qb

October 25th, 2010
10:37 pm

FACTS: Ryan had a great game. Turner had a very good game. The rookie Palmer looks like he has the tools to play in this league.
The Bengals had a great day passing. But what I saw was Cedric Benson run 21 times and only gain 84 yards. Abraham had a super game, but one of the most important players on this day was that of free agent Vance Walker. He was a force in the middle and out to the edge. He was a major reason the Bengals HAD to pass. He has more upside against the run than either Jerry or Peters.
And when will clowns that think they know football finally quit saying Grimes is too short? He has extraordinary speed and leaping ability.

It doesn’t matter, there are 4 teams in the AFC which will have their way with any team that emerges from the NFC this season. However there is a caveat. That being some team with a QB with a dynamic play caller and that has a running game to balance a vertical passing game to take their shots when they avail themselves might have a chance… You won’t dink and dunk your way to championship… Seattle tried that, it won’t get it done…

First off.. Ledbetter that interview was horrible. You good sir have a voice strictly for writing.. However I loved the comments. :-)

I am a Born and Raised Falcon fan but Im not sold on our secondary yet. Im gonna need DeCoud to play better because all the big plays we’ve given up were because he was out of position. Spoon needs to rest and get ready to come on back in to continue terrorizing the other teams. And lastly good go on the less predictable play calling. Open up the playbook and let Ryan go. I think in order for us to be taken seriously we have to beat the teams no one expects us to beat and beat them consistantly through out the year..

Quietly, Im hoping we win a superbowl cause Im sick of having that terrible feeling of we almost did it this year and sitting in the corner watching some other team hoist the trophy. I want to see us hoist the trophy for once.. I think when that happens I can go to my grave a happy man. And it would be a nice payback for my family having season tickets for 37 years. So come on Falcons and win so my Dad wont look so bad for having his entire family out in the cold at Fulton County stadium with our yearly vacation being a trip to New Orleans for the Falcons/Aints game..

I think the Falcons and Giants are the best two teams in the NFC right now. I think the Falcons have the running game that can neutralize defenses and I think Matt Ryan is getting better and better every week. The offensive weapons are definitely there for him. I think the defense will be alot stronger when we get Spoon and Dunta back after the bye week.

Indianman,

I think you nailed it, EXCEPT, I would swap GB & Philly. (minor adjustment.)

Good Post.

I feel that the Falcons are getting better… My favorite team….won’t say they are the best team in the NFC right now. The Giants, Eagles,Packers are playing well…but stranger things have happen around this time of year. Like the Saints… Last year, they didn’t look as the dominant team in the NFC… Everything they wanted they got double… And also a lady luck had made some cameo appearances. I would love to see my Falcons go to the “big dance” and win it in the “billion dollar stadium built by Jerry Jones. I love that slogan: “Rise Up”…. Kinda like that Maya Angelou poem: “Still I Rise”
