FLOWERY BRANCH –In an attempt to get back to their physical style of play, the Falcons put on the pads at practice on Wednesday.

Coach Mike Smith hasn’t been happy with the pad level of the team. They had not practiced in pads in the previous two weeks on Wednesdays. The offensive linemen and defensive linemen got into a few dust-ups, but no one was injured.

There were a few other items:

  • Tight end Justin Peelle had sports hernia surgery and will miss four to six weeks. Rookie Michael Palmer will move up into the backup tight end position.
  • Running back Antone Smith did not practice because of a shoulder injury.
  • Cornerback Dunta Robinson plans to appeal his  $50,000.
  • Linebacker Sean Weatherspoon was held out of practice with his right knee sprain.

D. any scuttle butt on anything at all going on with the offensive coaching? Does MS even see a problem?

Good to hear they’re getting tough on the players after that dud in Philly. But seriously, Mularkey and his 2 yards and a cloud of dust philosophy on first and second downs is absolutely killing this team offensively, and Turner running with no burst certainly isn’t helping his cause either.

Sam Baker hasn’t been great this year…any chance a back-up comes in during the BYE week???

Trade for Logan Mankins to replace Blalock, and replace Baker with Svitek!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Baker is not a bad LT. However, I think the Falcons #1 pick next year should be a big, mean, strong, and fast beast of a LT. The #2 pick should be a running back because it does look like Mr. Turner’s all critical first three steps have slowed. But part of his performance has to do with OL performance too.

Like the fact that Coach Smith got back to working with the lines of scrimmage to get those problems worked out. I have alot of faith in Smith and the staff to get things back on track this week back at the dome. I hate that Peele is out he was a pretty reliable possession tight end.

Let me get this straight:
The NFL claims to have new fines and suspensions for dangerous play, all in the spirit of “safety for the players.”

But in the meantime,
1. the NFL has been marketing and profiting from the sale of these “unsafe” hits video’s.
2. the NFL has not and does not pay the NFL Alumni’s physical ailments in any medical plans.
3.AND they are about to implement 2 additional games in the season WITHOUT the endorsement of the players who say all say this endangers them significantly.

The NFL is completely full of bull and HYPOCRITES!!

Did you hear? the NFL is changing to the NPL. National Pansy League. Next thing you know, the offense will have to wear little pink flags so they don’t break a nail.

Sam Baker needs to be benched for the back-up. Svitek can’t be any worse than Baker. Also Coach Smith needs to have a “Come To Jesus Meeting” with Mularkey. Otherwise, it is time for a change of offensive coordinator.

Looking forward to the Falcons coming back to form this Sunday in the Dome. However, when the draft rolls around this year, TD needs to beef up the OL with some better players or acquire some O-Linemen via free agency. The current OL ain’t cutting it at all!!!! How can Ryan throw long when he doesn’t have enough time to even set up to throw the ball down field.

If Robinson doesn’t win his appeal we should start a fund to at least help him pay the fine. His hit(legal)was the only bright spot in a dismal Falcon “performance”l.

@senior falcon are you nuts or was that a joke? I dnt agree with the fine but start a fund to help pay his fine? You do realize 50 thousand to Dunta is like 50 dollars to us. Trust me he can afford it.

Sam Baker gets pushed all over the field, couldn’t block my 83-year-old mother-in-law!! He looks BIG and MEAN with that hairy face but he don’t SCARE anybody. Time to get someone that can protect the back side and also open up some running room for Turner/Snelling.

Oh look! Seen is back again. Still months away from Saints Falcons rematch and he just can’t help himself. Dishing out crap from the safety of a plastic folding chair in front of his Dell is the only way he can feel like a man.

RISE UP Sunday at the Dome and walk out during the first series. Have “Free Dunta” written on an undershirt, or your chest, and pull up your shirt and show it to the cameras.

Of course you can come back to your seats after you and your breatheren all RISE UP and walk out.

After consideration I think we lost Sunday not because we were out played, but because we were out coached. The Philly game plan to run early reverses completlely took us out of our defensive plan/pass rush and in just minutes we are down two TDs on the road against a good team. End of game.

I agree that something needs to be done with Baker. I record these games and it is so obvious when you go back and look at them just how badly Baker is getting beat. There’s numerous times where he’s blocking wind because the defender is already gone. Either Svitek or rookie Mike Johnson should/could be as good if not better.

Hey D-Led, can you ask MS or TD when do they give up on a player? I know he was a first rounder but this is year 3 and he should be making strides forward but I just don’t see it. The left tackle spot is where Ryan is getting beat up from and if I’m not mistaken where the hit came from last year when he had the turf toe injury.

Also, can you find out more on the injury to Antone Smith? I believe he could really be an asset in the screen and sweep plays, if his injury from Sunday isn’t too bad.

I also would like to see Armstrong be held more accountable for the play of the special teams. They have not looked very SPECIAL this year.

Thanks for the info.

Antoine Smith an asset on the screen? The Falcons don’t even know what a screen is. They don’t run them on offense and can’t defend them, either. (mmmmmm, is there a correlation here? Defense never sees screens in practice….so….in games….they…..don’t know what to do ! ! Got it.)
