FLOWERY BRANCHStephen Nicholas, who has started against San Francisco and Philadelphia, was elevated to the first team on depth chart released by the team for the Cincinnati game.

Falcons coach Mike Smith announced on Monday that rookie Sean Weatherspoon’s right knee sprain was not responding and that he’d sit out the Bengals game.

Nicholas led the Falcons in tackles against the 49ers with 13. Against the Eagles, he had six tackles, including one for a loss.

Here’s a look at the depth chart.

Well I guess we find out if Nicholas is capable of covering good TE’s and slot receivers this week if he’s in on the Nickle.

I think they will key on stopping Benson and try to force some poor throws this week.

Frederick(Bailey)Douglass wrote: “Ryan should be able to throw quick strikes all over the field. It ain’t THAT hard.” Fred…yes, he certainly SHOULD be able to make these throws, and do so accurately. If we believed any of the media hype about Ryan (which I hope none of us any longer do), we would expect that and a lot more. But our eyes see the reality week after week: Ryan is not progressing. His inconsistency is truly awesome. I’m not talking about throws under pressure. I’m talking about short to medium-range passes, with no pressure, that go wildly astray. We all saw this several times in Philly. Also, he’s not going through his progression very well, and tends to throw the ball out of bounds way too early. Last Sunday he missed seeing open receivers more than once (ask Gonzales). What the heck is wrong with Ryan?? Maybe only a shrink can say. I for one would like, just once, to hear him after a game really own up to his accuracy problems. Instead, he deflects almost all criticism to the “we” and away from the “I.”.

Mike Mularkey is almost single-handedly keeping this team from its potential. I hope this becomes as obvious to ownership/management as it already is to everyone else. PLEASE do not let this man turn a 12 win team into a 9 win one.

waynester:

Saints fans have been equally disgusted with the Saints performance, in particular at the Arizona game, so seeing the falcan’t fans getting all twisted up by their loss to the eagles seems fairly normal. The Saints’ execution on offense seemed to improve last week, I think they are finally in sync. Of course, it was Tampa Bay, not exactly the cream of the NFC, they’re pretenders, just like the falcan’ts.

The falcan’ts got pretty beat up by the eagles, and that will hurt them for a while. I didn’t see anything significantly major in difference between the falcan’ts plan of attack, both on the offensive and defensive side last week, Course I didn’t see the entire game, just the highlights, and read all the post game analysis provided by AJC and its loyal falcan’t readers.

GEAUX SAINTS! OUR TIME!! .

The Saints have the steelers on deck after the brownies, they will be the first elite team we face this year. Should be a competitive game, but the Saints pretty much own all the teams in Pennsylvania.

ctfalconsfan I did not say Bierman’s td won the game for the Falcons. I suggested that it could have prevented a loss as Atlanta had a 3 point lead and Cleveland was driving late in the game for at least a tying field goal. Cleveland had a 3rd and 7 at the Cleveland 47 with about 4 minutes to play in the 4th quarter when Bierman made the interception. If that is not a possible game saving play I don’t know what is. And that is the truth, not what you posted. You might want to sign up for a reading comprehending class.

Maybe Mularkey is running the offense that Smith wants him to run. After all, his mentor, Jack Del Rio, is running what has been called “Pittsburgh Lite” at Jacksonville.

Thank goodness for the amazing Bierman play, and Cleveland’s management “experts” preconceived notions about Colt McCoy’s inability to be a starter in this league. Had both not occured, we might be 3 – 3.

Eagles vs Aints…. Eagles lead all time series 15-10
Steelers vs Aints….. Steeler lead all time series 7-6

In mushmouth math, that means the Aints own them.

Go away Aints, your time, much like last nights dinner, has passed.

In fact, a deeper look at the all time head-to-head records show that the Aints own….um…nobody.
Im sure to seen nothing before….it must feel like the Aints are winners. But the REALITY is that as a franchise they are 279-380-5
The ONLY team they can claim to own is the TB Bucs.

And yes, I am aware the Falcons are 280-392-6
But at least we DO own the Aints 45-37 all time.

You know its funny. If it hadnt been for that hurricane these would be the Oklahoma City Aints.
Amazing how stupid cajuns are to continue to back a team and an owner who are only there because they didnt have enough gas in the tractor to drag the team up the street.

yes, the Aints have won 1 super bowl. The Falcons have only been to 1.

What an astute commentary.

Lets continue.

Playoff appearances…Falcons 9, Aints 7…guess you guys own that one. By the way the only teams with less playoff appearances didnt join the league until 1995 or later.

Playoff wins Aints 5-6 Falcons 6-9…..but the upside for us is that one of those wins is over the Aints and one of those losses is to John Elway. Im ok with that.

Also interesting how you say fans back the Aints. In 2009 the Aints were the talk of the town, yet the Buffalo Bills outdrew the Aints…so did Houston, Carolina, Washington (among the non playoff teams) along with 6 other teams. By the way Buffalo only had 7 home games…

Face it. The Aints are a flash in the pan. Brees is a great QB, but with 11 years in the league how long do you think that will last?

get you a TV set for Christmas and watch on Monday night the 27th. Yall come on back now, ya here.

Well, the Saints have sold out each and every home game since 2006, and except for the seats reserved for opposing team tickets, every seat in the Super Dome is sold as a season ticket, and there’s been a wait list 50,000 strong for the last 5 years. Interesting that you didn’t list the falcan’ts in that rant as oudrawing the Saints.

As for Brees’ longevity, it’ll be as long as he deems fit, ask Bret Favre how long that could be. I think Drew Brees has at a minimum, six more years to dominate your team.

Our time has been here, is still here. And the best part, YOU KNOW IT! LOL!

TO ALL SAINTS FANS! If not for the NFL, you wouldn’t have won a Super Bowl. Last year was rigged, see PI call on Minnesota when it was an uncatchable ball! The Saints without Drew Brees have nothing. To say plays made by falcons this season are the reason we are 4-2, are the same reasons the Saints are 4-2 this year. so whats the point. the saints made a living last year on others mistakes. like i said WHAT’S YOUR POINT SEEN THIS BEFORE? Your aints havent played one game decent this year, ok, so count the bucs as one. Falcons Beat your butt in New Orleans and destroyed AZ at home. You struggled and lost to AZ. dont laugh! see you 12/27!

Hopefully, the Falcons practicing in pads return players to physical toughness on both sides of the ball, mainly offensive side of the ball.

If the Falcons come out passive on offense Sunday, then the Bengals will be positioned to send the Falcons into the bye-week with a loss.

FALCONS NEED TO COME OUT HUNGRY ON OFFENSE FOR TD’S.

TURNER THE BURNER NEED TO BE MORE AGGRESIVE ON THIRD AND SHORT.

TURNER EYE YOUR DEFENDERS, PICK ONE DEFENDER TO PLOW THROUGH FOR FIRST DOWNS!!!

KEEP DRIVES ALIVE!!! GO FALCONS REACH 5-2 INTO BYE WEEK.
