Falcons wide receiver Michael Jenkins (12) pushes off Eagles defender Ellis Hobbs (31). AP
FLOWERY BRANCH –Rookie linebacker Sean Weatherspoon, who suffered a right knee sprain against Cleveland, will not play this week against the Cincinnati Bengals, Falcons coach Mike Smith said.
“He’s not responding as quickly as we thought,” Smith said. “We are going to rule him out for this week and hopefully get him back after the bye week.”
Cornerback Dunta Robinson, who suffered a concussion on the big hit he put on Philadelphia’s DeSean Jackson on Sunday, will not likely be cleared in time to play against Cincinnati.

Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson on Monday, March 8, 2010. D. Orlando Ledbetter, dledbetter@ajc.com
“Right now, Dunta is in the league concussion protocol,” Smith said. “He will have to go through it this week and we’ll have to wait and see if he’s cleared by an independent doctor. That’s where we are with him physically.”
Smith went on to address the play.
“I think that we all know Dunta, he’s been in this league a long time,” Smith said. “He’s a guy that plays the game very, very hard. That was a bang-bang play in terms of the contact. From my vantage point, it looked like there was no helmet-to-helmet contact. But it was a bang-bang play. I’m glad that both of those guys are going to be all right. It was a big time hit.”
Smith is not sure how the league will interpret Robinson’s hit. He could be facing a fine or a suspension. He was called for a personal foul on the play.
“It’s a very complicated rule,” Smith said. “It’s not just head to head contact. It’s contact with the shoulder pads or the arm or any part of the body with the helmet or neck area. Again, a defenseless player, I’m not exactly 100 percent sure how they want to say a guy is defenseless. But again, it was a bang-bang play and I’m glad those guys are going to be all right.”
Smith was careful and picked his words carefully when talking about the play.
“That was two guys moving very fast, going for the same thing and that was the ball,” Smith said. “It was a very, very explosive play. I
know that the rules are for the players’ safety.”
Here are some of the other subjects that Smith touched on Monday during his press conference with the local media.
ON HOW THE EAGLES TARGETTED THEIR TOP 3 RECEIVERS 13 TIMES AND COMPLETED 13 PASSES FOR 255 YARDS AND THREE TOUCHDOWNS: “They were using a lot of max protection. When you are using seven-man and six-man protections, the players who are going to be targeted are going to be the wide receivers. They threw the ball effectively. We had a plan that we hoped to execute more effectively and we did not execute. . . they wanted to make sure they protected the quarterback and that’s why the balls went to the wide receivers in the game yesterday.”
ON THE THIRD QUARTER REDZONE TRIP THAT COULD HAVE MADE IT 21-14 IF THE FALCONS DIDN’T HAVE TO
SETTLE FOR A FIELD GOAL: “On one of the plays, one of our receivers got tripped up. He was probably going to be open, but he got tripped up. On the second pass play we had down there, there was a blitz and we had to throw it hot and we ended up being short from getting the first down. Again, we’ve got to continue to address this. . . We know that this is something that we have to get better at in terms of red-zone efficiency. It’s not where it needs to be right now.”
ON GETTING MICHAEL JENKINS BACK: “It was good to have Michael back. Michael made a big play there early in the game. He caught the skinny post and got the ball down into the red-zone. . . He played approximately 40 snaps in the ball game yesterday. ”
ON SLOW STARTS THIS SEASON: “We’ve got to start faster. Historically, since we’ve been here, we’ve started fast and have out-scored our opponents significantly in the first quarter. We are not doing it right now and it’s a thing that we have to continue to work

Head coach Mike Smith was not happy with the pass protection against the Eagles. Quarterback Matt Ryan (2) is hit by Eagles defensive end Trent Cole (58). Associated Press
on. It’s not just the players. It’s the coaching staff. We have got to make sure we put our guys in the best opportunity to be successful and right now, we are not getting that done.”
ON ALL OF PHILLY’S MIS-DIRECTION PLAYS: “We have to be more sound in that area. It was not a good start to the ball game defensively, when on the second play of the game they run the ball for a touchdown on a reverse. It’s something we knew they were going to do. They were going to run reverses.”

I would still like someone to explain to me how the play with Duanta was ruled as Unsportsman like for hitting a defenseless player. How are you a defenseless player if you have the dam ball?
I even heard that jerk Mike Perria say that it was dirty because it was an incomplete pass.
The ONLY reason that was incomplete was because of the contact.
SO we have already put a dress on the QBs. Now they aim to put a dress on the WRs and TEs?
What next? Shall we just start playing flag football? Or maybe we should rule out the run after catch?
It was DISGUSTING to listen to the whiny crying of Daryl Johnston commentating yesterday about how this part of the game needs to be removed. If you dont want to be hit, get off the field or learn to play defense.
Johnston also showed who he was rooting for (besides declaring his undying love for Philadelphia and the Phillies) when he claimed that DeCoud “got away with a dirty hit” on the eagles WR after a ball was tipped (and subsequently intercepted).
I suppose they call him Moose, because he is as intelligent as a Moose.

I think keeping Sean Weatherspoon out for Cincinnati is a good idea. That gives him two weeks to get ready (counting the bye).
Dunta Robinson’s hit was not helmet to helmet; there shouldn’t be a fine or a suspension.

The offense played as it has all year, poorly. Against now 1-5 SF the Falcons offense scored 1 TD. Against now 1-5 Cleveland the offense scored 1 TD, the other was a defenseive score. It was only a matter of time before the defense started giving up big plays. Going into this game I think the defense had given up 12 plays over 20yds. The first 2 plays of this time were for over 20yds. If they do not get it straighten out this week look for Cinn to have a field day. Cinn has had 2 weeks to get ready for our very middle of the road, bend but don’t break defense. Cinn has been struggling and they are looking for a big break game for Owens and Johnson.

have to agree with you fedup. There is no “game plan” week to week. It is a simple “ball control offense” which means, we are going to be in 2nd and 8 and 3rd and long all day long.
I watch Playbook on NFL Network and I have been watching a couple Eagles games this year because they have been on nationally. Against the Falcons was the first time the Eagles have played defense like this. Normally, they are in quarters or cover 2/tampa 2 and they have safety help. Not against Atlanta. Knowing the “ball control offense” the Eagles moved both Safties to almost LB positions.
All 31 other teams know that Ryan WILL NOT throw the ball deep. When he does, they will take their chances.
Mularkey…down by 21 points. 1st down at your own 40. Hey Matt, lets run the ball in the middle. Brilliant.

We really miss Norwood. We just don’t have a quick back with the kind of quick acceleration and explosiveness out of the backfield that we need in order to be an effective screen or misdirection team. Getting Jenkins back was important. Whatever we think of him, the man has been a fairly steady contributor over the last few seasons. He’ll open up the field up more for Tony and HD. He’ll also help in the run game.
As bad as yesterday’s game was (and it was bad), I think the team will be fine next week. Losing Dunta hurts, but getting pressure on the QB will combat his loss. Smith and VanGorder have to do a better job of preparation this week. They both got their a**es out-coached by a mile on Sunday. Our guys didn’t execute well, but some of the defenses we were in had almost no chance of success.

The coach has all the RIGHT answers today but in the game yesterday the TEAM had no answers. The Falcons remind me of a computer that is infected with a virus. Sure it will get you to the websites you are serching for but there are many corrupted files.
In other words, this team has some serious flaws. Offense,Defense,Special Teams, and last but not least the Coaching staff.
It may be after the season but the only remedy is to clean out the corrupted files through personnel moves, both the roster and the coaching staff.

Reid outcoached Mularkey and exposed him. Glad Smith admits the coaches are also responsible, and I think he’s looking at Mularkey when he said it. Abe said everything Philly did was not what they prepared for. Reid adapted a great game plan for our crappy predictable ball-control offense, and Mularkey had zip for an in-game response. Reid adapted a great game plan on defense, and our DC failed to adjust.
I hope Smith realizes he better fix his OC and DC or someday he will end up like Mora, who could not cut loose his good friend and terrible OC Take-a-Knapp, and paid for his loyalty in the face of incompetence.
Smith needs to realize Mularkey’s current offense is predictable and defensible, and force some changes to spread the field and attach down the field.

10-years ago, the talk woulda been about what a great hit it was. Remember when it used to be standard procedure to intimidate receivers with vicious hits? It was openly discussed, and accepted, as a legit part of football.
Football is evolving into a different sport than the one I’ve loved since childhood.
Football ain’t soccer, it’s SUPPOSED to be WAR.

Did anyone else watch the replays of the Robinson hit and focus on the ball instead of the players’ heads? It looked to me like Jackson caught the ball up high, controlled it with both hands for a moment, tucked it to his side, then was hit by Robinson and the ball came out. I’ll admit that in real time everything happened so fast that it was hard to tell anything, but I think you can make the case that the officials blew the call on a catch and fumble just as easily as you can make the case that Robinson hit a “defenselsss” receiver.

The Saints have finally gotten their offense in sync, much to the chagrin of SawThat1nce. Chris Ivory had his breakout game yesterday, and other teams are now going to have to focus on yet another Saints offensive weapon. We may also be getting Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas back this week as well, as well as some of other key defensive players. And to boot, this week, they get Sharper and Ingram back from the PUP list and the Saints can have 3 weeks before they have to activate either of them. Oh yeah, things are good in New Orleans!
Oh yeah, the falcan’ts are running scared right now, the inevitable train they call the City of New Orleans is bearing down on them!

The potential fir a blow out this week is huge, I believe we have no one in our backfield that can cover the Bengal receivers. If their Quarterback pulls it together, he has been their problem we will look back on the Philly game as a close contest, they have a very explosive passing game and I know they are watching film, seeing us struggle against Kolb and all these second string guys we have played that gave us problems, I know they are licking their lips, I would not even run the ball just pass hell out of it.

Farve became a HoF player because he had good coaches around him in GB. It would never have happened here.
Matt Ryan needs/deserves the same attention here. Mularkey and Musgrave really need to change it up. and soon.

Is this blog written under a bridge? Lots of trolls here…
Hopefully they will look at how Philly was able to max protect Kolb, but get their WRs open. Because Ovie will have to spend the next few games carrying Sam Baker, maybe the rest of the year. In order to throw it deep, they need to protect Ryan and yet get the defense to bite on the run. Turner’s not finding holes like two years ago.
The offense is a mess right now, and while the defense was exposed, I trust Van Gorder and especially Smith to fix it. I don’t trust Mularkey to fix the offense.

You are dead on.
Watching Turner it looks like a man playing for money. During the Saints and Browns games we watched him shy from blocking and just run to the hole designed in the play. While Snelling seems to be hammering the line and running with abandon.
Any news on Antoine Smith coming back soon? I think he could have a big impact in the next few weeks. If they would let him on the field.

Since I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and not prejudge you as the typical “snarky” Ledbetter poster. My late uncle Leodis Lane suffered from dementia and later full onset Alzheimer’s for nearly 15 years (1990-2005). Fortunately, our then extended family was able to care for him at home. But, it drained his once immense savings and required us mortgaging his inheritance of his grandchildren. Now, put on top of that the natural physical toll that professional football adds to such a case… As far as visiting wards and facilities, I also had two aunts who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease who were institutionalized for the latter portions of their lives. So, I safely say, I’ve made more than 600 extended visits to such facilities…

I have been supporting the Falcons for many years, and they cannot get their attitude right, they do not have the killer attitude, they have always been wimps, what can I say, when was the last time they won a SuperBowl, they haven’t only been in one superbowl and got wiped. Until they become a team togother they will never be great, What they need is a attitude adjustment, You pay them millions of dollers and all they do is cry, I’m hurt, I don’t get the ball, well what you need to do Falcons is GROW UP and quip complaining.

Alot of chatter concerning the “hit”. I haven’t read a comment yet that touches on the cause of the “problem”
There is a league called the Arena Football League that allows receivers to run amok and lots of points are scored. Andy Reid needs to take note – this is not the AFL. If you want to run smurf plays then go to the AFL.
DeSean Jackson (180 lbs tops) has NO BUSINESS sprinting across the teeth of the Falcons D. Down by 14 points, the “hit” was the exact play the Falcons needed.
The way to beat an offense like that is to plant one on the ball carrier. The hit was viscious but clean; the only other choice was to let the smurf run through the defense.
Too bad JA#55 missed his assignment and didn’t plant him on the reverse; he could have saved both Jackson and Robinson a severe headache.

Dunta Robinson blew desean jackson up. Dunta should not be suspended JUST FINED because he is not a dirty player and i never heard of dunta blowing anybody up like that. He lead with the crown of the helmet and it warranted a penalty which they got. It was a bad tackle because he dropped his head and could of been led out like the kid from RUTGERS when he lead the tackle with his head and dropped his helmet like dunta. Players need more training with tackling and not suspensions if they did not get the right training. More awareness and not punishment every time a player makes a mistake. NFL should just look into tackling the right way instead of always bring out the BIG RULE BOOK.

The NFL is out on thin ice right now… not the time to begin suspending players for playing a tough game.
This is a contact sport and these guys get paid just to doggone well NOT to give and take some hard hits. The league office should bear that in mind as they weigh out the looming strike/lock-out that stands to kill the whole professional game.

I wonder how many will come out of the woodwork on Sunday to support Duanta. The league and the sports writers are trying to weaken the game and they are going to use Duanta’s clean and straightforward hit as the scapegoat.
Like #52 Ray Lewis says….Its a man’s game out there.
You stood up for Mike Vick when he admitted he lied to the owner, lied to federal prosecutors, lied to YOU directly, and really did like to sit around smoking pot and fighting and killing dogs and thought of it kind of like a hobby. You know, a hobby, like blogging or playing Madden 11 on xbox.
Wonder how many will stand up when they suspend Duanta? I bet none. Just like they didn’t stand up for D Hall when he was suspended and not supported by even his own coaching staff and then run out of town.
Duanta, keep your head up, use a bag of them recalled frozen peas to keep the swelling down and hurry back to the field and keep balling.

the simple answer is because at the moment, we have deficiencies on the O-line. Its difficult to run a screen when you have no protection. In a double tight end set, one TE is 88 and the other is in pass coverage along with the RB and FB.
Look at the left side of the line and be entertained by watching #72 get his butt kicked all day long..;when he isnt holding.

There are a lot of dumb-a$$es on these blogs, that only come on them when the team loses, so that they can complain.
I have to agree with some of them(I suppose that makes me a dumb-a$$ also), that the offense needs to open it up, everyone knows what they are going to do, before they do it.
That is the only reason that the Eagles won, they aren’t any better than the Falcons.
The Falcons just flat-out got out-coached.
The Falcons are going to have to protect Ryan better, and give him an extra couple of seconds to let the plays develope.
I believe that Coach Smith will work out the problems.

I feel we will be just fine as the season progresses and when it comes to the NFL there will always be adjustments made(I.E. people saying other teams will use what philly did as a blue print to beat us, we will use it as a way to improve on how they did). I look at how i thought our season was gonna pan out when the schedules first came out and how it i actually playing out and it is not too far off. We just have to keep to the plan and trust in the coaches that i guarantee have a lot more knowledge as to what is going on then most of us do, am I disappointed in the loss YES, am i disappointed at 4-2 by no means. There is still a lot of football to go and plenty of time for improvement but by no means am i disappointed in the results so far and i wish some of you so called “fans” would be patient and not judge everything when we drop 1 game(especially when we are in going into week 7 and there are NO undefeated teams!!!) every week is going to be tough, that’s how you there is parity and lets you know that a good staff will carry you to wins!!. I have not seen this thought anywhere, so I will share it. Philly’s defensive backfield looked great. It seemed to me that Ryan was throwing either a little behind or right on the numbers instead of out front. It have the defense just enough opportunity to reach in time after time. He has a number of receivers who can stretch for the ball.

The hit that Dunta put on Desean was meant to send a message to the Eagles. Desean was having a field day up to that point, and DR wanted to break his spirit. One can debate whether it was a “clean hit or nor”. While it may be good smashmouth football to some of the spectators, both players could have been permanently injured. Is it really worth that????

Duantas hit while hard was not dirty. Jackson turned into it at the last second or he would not have hit his chin. If the NFL really wants to ‘fix’ these types of hits they need to pressure the coaches to teach and stress good, sound fundamental tackling. You know the kind, where you wrap your arms around the ball carrier and ride him to the ground. Everything is about the big hit these days and the NFL are being hyprocrites. How many sanctioned by NFL videos are there for big hits? I use to always get one with my SI sub. http://www.amazon.com/Best-Thunder-Destruction-NFLs-Hardest/dp/6302461944.
It’s either that are you shrink the pads and put them back in leather helmets. Players will learn pretty quick how to properly tackle after a few games with those on.

Oh and to add…
IF the NFL wants to start suspending players for hits like that then they better expand the rosters. They are pretty thin as is and if the suspensions happen you are going to have to have more players. Otherwise the playing time goes up for everyone, starters will be playing ST’s and more injuries will evetually happen further dilluting the pool of good players.

Let Matty Ice audible out of an obvious stuff! As far as Robinson, how can you penalize a player for a monster clean hit? That was sad! I was disapointed with the Robinson hit because it was 3rd down and he was late on it…causing the defenseless receiver penalty which extended the drive. Not only that Robinson took himself out of the rest of that game and the next one. All in all a bad play all around. I know he wasn’t trying to do that, but it was really bad timing. If that ball hits the ground there, the Falcons were going to get the ball back after a well earned stop. Instead, the drive was extended.

We’ve all seen it, when Matt is given control, he more the not, gets it done. Its about time he called out his coordinators. I STILL dont get running the ball up the middle when you’re down three scores! We’d better have something better this week. If not…4-3 may be a reality for this team. Sick of the good starts and terrible finishes from this team….we have too much talent to be middle tier. It starts with play calling. Mularkey isnt a creative offensive mind. We need fresh new ideas….but I think we’re stuck with him at least until the end of the year. Hope Spoon and Robinson come back soon. And for the guy that said Robinson cant cover….you’re crazy. He makes that secondary 10 times better….watch how Carson Palmer (who’s been struggling this year) gets back to Pro Bowl form against us. Regarding violent hits, I haven’t heard one word about the MOST VIOLENT hits which are the de-cleaters you see on punt returns and interceptions. Those are very violent as the tackler thinks he is about to make a tackle until he is knocked into next year with a massive hit from his blind spot.
Will those hits be outlawed? If so then should the return team just let the tackler make the tackler? I think we all love a good de-cleatter..
I can only assume the NFL is working on some version of a flag football that we will be playing in this league soon..

Absolutely right about the league and the networks wanting to have it both ways when it comes to big hits. All the sports sites have sections for “hit of the week” or some such and just a few years ago, we’d have been applauding the hit by Dunta since it did cause a fumble that we recovered. One of my buddies opined that the NFL is becoming the “pink panties league” while the fledgling UFL is still encouraging big hits and growing their audience. Waynester I agree with you that the NFL is becoming a weak league while the UFL is picking up fans.
The NFL needs to becareful to give the fans what they want – good, hard nosed football!!
- Look at Boxing, the MMA has taken that sport out as people want to watch the more violent MMA fights than just old fashion Boxing.
- NFL ticket prices are driving families and KIDS away. As kids grow up they aren’t going to take their kids to NFL games as they themselves never went. They instead went to college or UFL or other pro leagues.
- While I support Breast Cancer awareness I don’t think we need the players wearing pink. What about lung cancer, colon cancer, aides and all the other medical problems we have in this world.

OK, all you “fans” who think the NFL is becoming “weak” or “sissies” go pay your pay-per-view and watch your MMA, or better yet, if you’re under the age of 30, enlist and go take a front row seat in Afghanistan or Iraq. Are any of you folks aware of what happened in the Rugers – Army game on Saturday? I know about this because I was there. I competed at the BCS and NFL level (20 years ago) and I am telling you, unless the NFL and NCAA (and of course, H.S.) removed facemasks from helmets, or better yet, replace football helmets with hockey helmets, the “head-to-head” contact and subsequently, the injuries and death produced by such contact will continue; if not increase. Football can be played without helmets (I believe it is called rugby football). The contact and brute force required to compete is rugby is just as intense as American football, but the equipment is different. And I while I rejected numerous overtures from local rugby teams/players to “give it a try” I like my ears intact, all my teeth, and I am not interested in shoulder or knee surgery in my future. But, it’s moved passed the point where paralysis or death are rare. And this red flag does not even consider the increased incidence of suicide, dementia/Alzhiemer’s disease, and pre-mature death connected with former NFL or major college athletes. If the NFL and America want to buy and sell blood sports, it is a free country, but somebody tell me (and Michael Vick) how this is different from dog fighting?

I feel like the hit that duanta, was a clean hit. If that play was in the end zone, what are you suppose to do? Hit him as hard as you can so the ball comes out so its a incomplete pass and not a touch down.

TY, NO!!! If the pass is into the end zone the DB should watch the ball land in the WR hands and just hope he drops it. Im not sure if the NFL will allow the DB to even yell or try to distract the receiver while he is in the process of catching the ball.
- Of course if the receivers flag has fallen off in the field of play the ball is down where the WR catches the ball..

ctfalconsfan, Talk about yawn. Go coach/officiate/set NFL policy somewhere else. FYI, the term “de-cleater” is a John Madden phrase. There is not a specific “hit” called a “de-cleater” whereas a leading with the helmet – helmet-to-helmet or not, which was called “spearing” in my day, is certainly a known type of hit. You should change your name. You’re not a fan. You are a loser who gets off watching others compete.

We all know that was not a dirty play dauta did its just how there bodies met after the blow. but our team did play very dirty, dirty to stink up the place. For the third staight week our offense has looked like pure dee shiiiiiiiiiii. The play calling has been suspect so bad. For some reason this coaching staff has not been able to beat philly.here or there, so something has to change, yes our defense got burned and its because no offenseive drives being put together, all philly did is blitz and they got to us from the start, We start our runing the ball get a 1st down or two then go to passing. I am really agian this week not please at all with mike mulurkey the oc and mike smith hc cause there are not on the same page. Here is what happened.
Jackson was a pest. He’s very good. He burned The Falcons.
(By The Way: I would never admit that 4 Falcon DBs were burned by 2 WRs of any team in a Max Protection alignment… That’s awful. The public may see it..As a player and organization? I’d deny it..lol…forever).
Dunta saw him, and did not intend to hurt him, but to stop him.
Sometimes when you play, you really want to step-up a stop the guy who is embarrassing you..
Jackson jumped to catch the ball.. He was above the level of Dunta’s helmet.
If you are 5′7″ and 150 lbs., you should be able to do what he does to bigger men, but you should not be a NFL WR. I feel for Jackson and hsi family..
It’’s more about his lack of height than his weight.. There isn’t really much to tackle because he is 5′10″ (maybe 5′8″). And he is fast. Maybe his cleats were not digging into the turf up there.. Some players like their feet to be freer to gain more speed.
The NFL should look into these types of issues.
When Jackson caught the ball he bended his knees to stand below Dunta’s helmet.
…and Dunta Robinson still did not commit a helmet-to-helmet hit!!
That is why The NFL Offices had to spin this hit as a “Violent Hits”..
This is the game, pay more money for the pensions! lol.
The NFL is just sensitive to this weekend (including the sad incident of a Rutgers player)..
Anything to make their product seem safer than it really is…
Also it has something to do with The NFL Lock-Out that is coming in 2011.

Good game in Philly! No, I am not a Philly fan, I am a Falcon fan. The Eagles showed both our offensive and defensive coordinators if we intend on playing with the strong teams, we need to get aggressive. We became so passive it was sad. From the opening kickoff, we need to make things happen. Get the oppsong team back on their heals. I’m concerned for Matt Ryan. I saw so many open receivers and I mean really open when he threw to someone who was covered or just didn’t catch the ball. Where did our defensive line go? When there’s no pressure on the quarterback, he will make it happen. I hope we get it together and come out this week screaming and fighting and make the Bengals ask “who the heck are these guys”??

D-JAX had it coming and he knows all along, there are a lot of D-JAX alikes in the league these day that wear numbers 10, 14, 16 etc. These guys are super fast because they are skinny, they are fully aware of the danger of the profession that they decide to make their living in, and they are willing to take that chance, but chances are that they are going to get hurt badly, it is just a matter of time, D-JAX knows it and he time is up, all said.

An experienced O-Line (except for Baker!), 3 pro bowlers, solid FB and a QB who is suppose to be the next coming of Montana (very questionable) and all Mularkey can do is :
PITT – 0 TD’s
SFO – 1 TD
CLE – 1 TD
PHL – 2 TD’s
WOW!!!! 4 Offensive TD’s in 4 games that resulted in us going 2-2.
This is certainly the high powered offense that everybody anticipated.
Why Mularkey still has a job is a direct reflection on Mike Smith’s leadership or lack there of..

Well Kolb left Jackson out to dry…on that pass..
Kolb did not want to take the sack proving that he could make plays like Vick..
Just take the sack.
NFL should reinforce “In The Grasp” even before they can prove the QBS knee is completely down..
That’s been a problem for a while QBs holding on to ball to long, throwing 4 yard shovel passes while being sacked after 10 seconds in the pocket. Refs have to blow the whistle. Kolb was well-sacked on that play. Jackson tried to help him out. Dunta was trying to stop Jackson from running in the open field on a freelance play by Kolb.

Dear NFL here is a thought. If you don’t like the hitting aspect of football, lets embrace the sex you are selling these days. You know hot women on the side lines in the locker rooms who know less than nothing about football. Lets stop the hard hitting and tackleing and go to to hande touch and let women play, you might have something with that.

Look for the secondary to get “lit up” this week. The Falcons were outcoached and outplayed by the Eagles. Ryan is a mediocre QB against top tier defenses. The play calling was predictable in the red zone. One of the reasons for half time is to make adjustments. The coaching staff failed to do so against the Eagles.

Dunta should put football on hold and return after the bye-week. That was a serious collision between two physical players. THE POWERFUL SPEED OF D. JACKSON MET WITH THE SPEED AND CRUSHING POWER BY D. ROBINSON RESULTING IN BOTH PLAYERS COLLAPSING ONTO THE FIELD.
Neither players should play for a couple of weeks to ensure no relapse happens. SIT DUNTA, LET HIM RETURN AFTER BYE WEEK!!!! CHRIS OWENS CAN HANDLE THE ASSIGNMENT…

Hey Y’all:
One game at a time. One game at a time in “ONE HEARTBEAT!!” That’s how we play this game. Sunday, we got out played and out coached on offense, defense, and special teams. I do not know what our Falcons were drinking before the Philly game but they better leave it at home.
On offense, everthing they did was too predictable. I knew when they were going to run and when they were going to throw. They appeared to be sluggish walking to the line of scrimmage as if they had no fire in their eyes. They could not surprise anyone on the opposition defense because the playcalling stunk up the place. Rarely did they throw the ball downfield. There were no trick plays against Philly as Philly trick played us to death. We have the talent on this offense to be explosive. But the playcalling is too, too, standard and predictable. We got to fix this in “ONE HEARTBEAT!!!”.
The defense, on the other hand, had no pass rush. NONE AT ALL!!! I saw no creative blitz packages to attack the quarterback. I SAW NO INDIVIDUAL LINEEN BEING “NASTY” AND MAKING AN “IMPACT.” We made an average quaterback look like Joe Namath. Of course, the defensive backs were getting burnt. There was no bass rush. The defensive linemen appear to be engage in individuals battles with thee oppositions offensive linemen without trying to shred the lineman and go for the quarterback or the running back. IT APPEARS THE DEFENSIVE LINEMEN ARE NOT BEING TAUGHT HOW TO “SHRED BLOCKERS” ON THE OFFENSIVE LINE. THEY GET INTO INDIVIDUAL BATTLES WITH THE OFFENSIVE LINEMAN FOR TOO LONG WHILE THE PLAY DEVELOPS AGAINST THE DEFENSE FOR PLAYS BY THE QUARTERBACK AND THE RUNNING BACK. GET THOSE OFFENSIVE LINEMEN OUT OF YOUR WAY AND MAKE A TACKLE AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. IF YOU CAN’T YOU WILL NOT BE HERE IN ATLANTA. YOU WILL BE NFL (NOT FOR LONG). COACHES INCLUDED. THEY SHOULD BE TEACHING Y’ALL THIS STUFF. Let’s go Falcons.
Special teams stunk up the place. Our punter was kicking 30 yard punts 4 of the 5 times he punted. I do not know what his problem is but it looks like he is losing his heart in kicking the ball since he got blocked in a previous game. We got to fix this, COACH.
I know it is “ONE GAME”. But I never want to see a game like that again. We were outplayed and out coached at every phase of the game. We need to do more homework at Flowery Branch for the upcoming games. I KNOW WE WILL DO IT. I KNOW WE WILL DO IT IN “ONE HEARTBEAT!!”. JUST KEEPING IT REAL REAL. ONE GAME AT A TIME. That loss to Philly probably enhaced how we will play for the rest of the season . IT think our FALCONS will be playing “PRETTY NASTY” here on out. I believe that in “ONE HEARTBEAT!!!”
LET’S GO FALCONS!! THE “PROCESS” CONTINUES. IT CONTINUES IN
“ONE HEARBEAT!!!!”. “WE RISE!!” IN “ONE HEARTBEAT!!!”.
SSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a SECRET from a FALCON FAN. TELL EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!

Dunta’s hit was not clean. Dunta was attempting a helmit transplant. Dunta tried to drive Jackson into the carpet using his head as a projectile missile, attempting to plant his helmit into Robinsons chest. Now that Duntas wallet is about $50K lighter, maybe the next time that type of collision is imminent, Dunta will alter his tackling style and talkle from the waste, driving himself to the defenders sternum. That is the correct way to tackle. The style that Dunta used this past sunday was like the old rock-em, sock-em robots where you try to knock somebodys block off.

What I want to know is: what is Mike Mularkey’s contingency plan if we get into a big whole, are behind and must score points quickly? Then, the whole ball control grind it out style of offense doesn’t work. He doesn’t seem to HAVE any kind of plan B. And our offense if way too predictible. We always run the very 1st play from scrimmage of the game. Just for once, I’d love to see us open it up and pass the damn ball on that 1st play. The offensive line has got to do a better job protecting Ryan. And for the love of God, get Snelling involved with some screen passes!

I hope the Falcons have a solid game plan against the Cincinnati Bengals this sunday. The Bengals have great wide receivers (T-O and Ochocinco) and will stretch the field on the falcons if the Falcons cornerbacks and safeties dont cover the receivers well. The Falcons should still beat the Bengals because Carson Palmer is in a throwing slump. This might be a good time for the Falcons to face the Bengals because when Carson is playing well, the Bengals score a ton of points and Palmer throws for over 4000 yards in a season.
