FLOWERY BRANCH – Lost the shuffle following the 20-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns, was that Falcons rookie tight end Michael Palmer had his first NFL reception.

One the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter, Matt Ryan threw a pass to Palmer and he picked up 11 yards and a first down. The Falcons were backed up at the 15 and Palmer gave them some breathing room.

Palmer, who played at Parkview High and Clemson, made the team as an undrafted rookie free agent.

He has been active and has played in all of the games this season.

The kid’s a stud, he better cozy up to TG and learn all that he can for the rest of the season. it’s not often your mentor is a hall-of-famer in waiting.

He’s a smart kid with great hands. I’m ready to see him more and more involved in our offense.

Yeah it was noticed. I would like to see him a little more involved in the Offense too. He looks to have great hands, and u can never have too many receiving Tight Ends. but i hear he can block too so thats a win win

Boy, if Palmer could rise up and become our TE of the future that would be awesome especially come next year’s draft. Not having to reach for a TE when we will have other equally pressing needs would be a G-dsend. Now if one of our young OLinemen would make big strides and be ready to start next season we’d really have a lot more options if the owners and players come to an agreement….

I agree Waynester.

I feel we may have to address the Left Tack position. While I am aware that Sam Baker has had injuries in the past he may be better suited to play guard or right tackle. We may be have an opportunity for a free agent Left Tackle (like McNeil out of San Diego) to shore up that left side. Tood McClure is getting long in the tooth as well and I am not sure Hawley (rookie) is the guy to take over at Center. We will definitely have to find two or three players out of next years draft that are ready to play right away, along with a specialist and place kicker (kid from Georgia is looking good).

Who knows TG may give us the pleasure of playing one more season to help bring a Championship to Atlanta.

Jeez, Fish House, this guy is an undrafted FA. It’s a good story, and that’s why it’s nice to read about.

Well Joe,

With Roddy White, Tony Gonzalez, Michael Turner, Jason Snelling, Brian Finneran, Harry Douglas and Justin Peele, I’m not surprised it took the THIRD STRING tight end five games to get a catch.

OMG, this story was less than 100 words in length and there are two glaring grammatical miscues. “Lost the shuffle” and “One the first play”. I just don’t get it, how can a NEWSPAPER of all things allow this on a daily basis (which it actually does)? Perhaps these short stories are keyed into a PDA and just submitted as is? I mean seriously how do so many errors get through to the final post?

He’s who I wanted to make the team more than all the other bubble-players. So yes I was glad to see him get his first catch. As I recall, the 4th down play in the NO game (I think) that got deflected at the line was a pass intended for him.

Remembered this during the game too…I was thinking a guy with good skills and un-drafted great pickup for the Falcons. Hopefully soaking up knowledge from TG and will be our future TE. Good Story.

The Carolina Panthers are on the decline with all the offense and quarterback issues. I guarantee that Steve Smith will be demanding for a trade before the season ends if not before the start of next season. Falcons need one more true weapon, a threat in the passing offense and that should be Steve Smith. Steve Smith can block, get open, he’s a deep ball threat and he can run perfect routes. I think he’s that missing piece that we need to become a high scoring high powered offense. With that being said I think the Falcons should acquire Steve Smith. Any thoughts??????

Ahh, how quickly we forget. During the pre-season Palmer played well, but the kid that really stood out at TE was Colin Peek (from Alabama). Who knows, maybe the Falcons will have two good guys for the end position in the future.
As for TO, he is truly a cancer. Do you really think Arthur Blank, TD, or Smitty would put up with a player with his own reality show? Not on this team buddy…

The Eagles deserve a vicious beat down to the point of embarassment this weekend.

This should be not just an attempt to get away with a good win… this should be willful intent to destroy. The Falcons should take out the Eagles with vengence and furious anger!!!!!

The Elbow of Death should be laid down!!!

What I really would like to talk about is the trade value of our running backs next season. Both baks are idenical runners & I am sure there will be takers next year. I think we can get a 2nd round, we really need to address the LT position next year. Maybe move Baker to the right. What do u guys think?
