Is William Moore taking over at strong safety?

Strong safety William Moore retained the starting job even though Erik Coleman was active for the game.

Moore turned in a couple of key plays, one an interception in the third quarter to stop a promising San Francisco drive.

“It was just a great call and scheme that we had,” Moore said. “Overall, we were just baiting the quarterback.”

In the fourth quarter, he came on a delayed blitz, got a sack and forced quarterback Alex Smith into an intentional grounding penalty.

“I was just getting an opportunity to play a little faster and I’m trying to show them what I can do,” said Moore, who finished with four tackles.

The Falcons held San Francisco quarterback Alex Smith to a 65.6 quarterback rating.

“The effort of the team was outstanding. We fought on each side of the ball, offense, defense and special teams,” Moore said. “We are going to make mistakes, but we have to overcome those.”

Coleman suffered a strained medial collateral ligament in the season opener against Pittsburgh and has missed the last two games.

“It’s a great situation, but it’s a tough circumstance,” Moore said. “You don’t want anybody to go down. I feel like that’s what you’re supposed to do in the NFL; step in when your number is called. I’m gaining trust from the coaches and support from my teammates.”

Entering the 2010 season, Coleman had started 31 of 32 games with the Falcons. In 2008, he started at free safety. Last season, he was moved over to strong safety.

In 2008, Coleman had a career-high 127 tackles, three interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Last season, Coleman broke his career-high with 139 tackles.

He started his career with the New York Jets after being selected in the fifth round of the 2004 draft. He was signed by the Falcons as a free agent on March 1, 2008.

Moore was the team’s second round pick in the 2009 draft. He missed most of last season with hamstring and knee injuries. He later battled a groin injury over the offseason.

“I used last year as motivation to stay on the field and show what I can do,” Moore said.

Granted, the ‘Niners played us tough but no way did they “dominate” and neither did we. Other than a bogus PI call that set them up for an easy TD, our Defense shut them down. As for the blocked punt, there’s no excuse for that, however, it was a shortened field due to Koenen punting from the back of the endzone. In neither case were they “dominant”–just good enough. Atlanta could easily be 1-3, but they could just as easily be 4-0….

Seen obviously loves Atlanta or he wouldn’t be here EVERYDAY. I went to the Saints website the week we played them. I haven’t thought about them twice since then. Put the Browns on the radar & deal with aints in December.

For what it’s worth, I wish we had someone like him from all our competitors each week. It makes no sense to be talking Saints though when we play Cleveland (in cOldHIO).

For anyone saying “Go to your own Teams Boards” . . … lighten up a bit plz. How boring would it be on any site if you just heard the Party Line. However – now that I think about it, I’m not sure if that would be the case on this board . .. .as there are enough “Falcon Fans” here who do a good job . . .panning the Falcons.

Hey there SeenThisB4, I think its great that you come on this blog and give your rants about the Saints. You see this blog is like a village of Falcons fans that enjoy talking about their team and like any village there is always one idiot. So I here by crown you the “OFFICIAL – Village Idiot” of this blog. I really can’t blame you for wanting to remain on our blog though because I went on one of the Saints blogs and it was full of idiots. So you wouldn’t really stand out as you do here on our blog but would just blend in with the other idiots. So enjoy yourself and rant as much as you please and we Falcons Fans will just take what you say with a grain of salt knowing that due to your mental state you are not really responsible for all that garbage that you write. We here in Atlanta have compassion for the handicapped.

I can’t believe how some of the fans are so fickle. Not so long ago, everyone was crying that W.Moore was always hurt and some said that he was a waste of a draft pick. Now some people are getting on Decoud when he’s only in his second year of being a starter! Even to this point, Decoud has done far more good than bad for the defense. -Get a grip people!

B4-I don’t get It….make me understand…why?really why?You know this Is a different breed of Coach’s here In Atlanta.Heck…It don’t even feel the same around here no more(just like N.O.).This team has committed Itself to be a winner from Arthur Blank on down. This Is a class organization and so Is N.O.So I don’t understand the bombardment of hate you spew toward this city and It’s fans.ARE YOU BLIND or Is It just a lack of attention your not getting because of a deep seeded Inferior/Insecure complex. We own the series record between the two teams. And we both have been through lean years with our teams. If I we’re doing what your doing I would at some point have to walk In front of a mirror and take a good long look and ask….Why am I doing This?

Cali Falcon Fan- I don’t mind Arthur going down. If I owned the Falcons I’d be doing the same thing. For one, it breeds accountability. Knowing the boss will be down by the end of the game makes me not want to do something I’d have to look him in his eye and explain. Coach can’t shield you from that. But on the flip side you get to say, “Hey boss, did you see my play? You know it’s a contract year?” And from a season ticket holder, it shows the face of the franchise and lets us know he cares.

I WISH SOMEONE FROM THE ATL SPIRIT GROUP OR TIME WARNER WOULD SHOW THEY CARED!

Seen——It has been so entertaining for us to hear your moronic diatribes but it is really time for you tp put up or shut up. Let me explain, as I need to use small words for you to unterdstand.
Simply put, tell me, no tell all of us Falcon Fans, why your team is better. Tell us all how their struggles against the Vikings, 49ers, Falcons and Panthers have all been an illusion. Tell us how this is still last season and how the Saints haven’t been using smoke and mirrors to prop themselves up for a 3-1 start. Tell us all about how Greg Williams has the defense rolling. Tell us all about Drew Brees and the offense don’t really look one dimensional. Tell us all about Sean Peyton’s inability to use the same magic formula as last season. Well, we’re waiting!
We all know that you can’t make any of those arguments sound intelligent; as you have not been able to put forth one intelligent argument since you first started posting on the AJC. I have analyzed your team time and time again and the only thing you could say was, “We are the champs.” Well, now it appears as though you are the NFC South chumps!!!!!
Lastly, I will leave you with this, the Saints time was last season. This season and this time belongs to someone else!!!! And the word is GO; not geaux.
Who dat gonna beat dem Saints?
Anyone with a good runningback!!!!!

That’s funny.

The 49ers lost to the Saints because they kept turning the ball over and giving them more chances to win the game. The Saints won against Carolina because their kicker scored most of their points, as their vaunted offense could only muster a single touchdown.

Strange how when the Saints win like this, it’s because of their skill and greatness. But when we win like this, it’s pure luck. What the “F” ever.

It must have really, really hurt to get beaten in your own dome by a “perennial loser” after an entire preseason of trash talk. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be this much nonsensical propaganda. And if you can’t stand a team and the fans of a team…then why LIVE on their blogs? LOL…

I love Matt Ryan he’s a good quarterback, but he’s not great and never will be. He’s gun shy, has happy feet, and checks down too early to avoid pressure. The other Ryan (Mallett) will be a great quarterback barring a major injury. His arm is stronger than Ryan’s, he’s bigger and does not get happy feet. Brett Favre was the same way as Mallett in college and I remember Favre almost single-handedly beating UGA in Athens (Favre’s team lost, but barely) when he was in college. The Falcons will win with Ryan because he’s good enough to win, but I don’t see him being a Pro Bowl selection ever. I still love Matty Ice at QB for the birds because he’s a good fit. I just wish we had a way to get the Razorback Matt. Boy would I recievers stats explode and our running game become even more potent and they’re both not bad now.
