Mora needs to dial back his coffee consumption. It’s made me a lot happier!
October 1st, 20107:29 am
??????? D’led the halls of Flowery Branch are littered with AJC beat writers that rubbed this guy the wrong way.
Still, Gottlieb shows he is less of a journalist and more of an entertainer. Difficult for Mora to answer such a subjective line of questioning.
Of course MV is better now. It’s called life experience.

Classic Stuff… Thanks for the early morning laugh D-Led!!!!
October 1st, 20107:41 am
HAHAHA – Mora is such an immature brat. No wonder He and MeAngelo Hall got along so great.
Yeah, but how should I feel about this?
October 1st, 20107:51 am
I FEEL sad! HaHA HA. Both are clowns!
ATL in FLA
October 1st, 20107:52 am
LOL he must have been hitting up the Ammonia Capsules before that interview
October 1st, 20107:55 am
I met the Senior Mora in the San Diego airport in 1998. He was just as rude and condescending as his son is on this interview. Great gene pool on these 2 jerks.
October 1st, 20108:00 am
No doubt the interview Sunday will be as much about the interviewer as the interviewee.
Narcissism, it does a body good.
October 1st, 20108:08 am
Man, Mora comes off like such a snotty little jerk!! I think it was a fair line of questioning. As a Falcons fan, I know I am kinda ticked off that MV7 has such a great work ethic now, when he admitted that he was lazy as a Falcon. He even admitted he didn’t “prepare enough” for the NFC Championship game he played against the Eagles. That one really burns me!!! How many chances does a team get to make it to the Super Bowl?!?!? I hope Mora is never the “color commentator” on a Falcons game again. He was so irritating during the game against the Steelers.
October 1st, 20108:10 am
Last word freaks, both of them……………….lol……………!!!
October 1st, 20108:11 am
let’s see Mike Smith, Jim Mora, who would I rather have as my NFL team’s head coach, hmmm… I’m sure he was just joking in this interview as well.
October 1st, 20108:12 am
Jim Mora, Jr. is an idiot. I have mixed feelings about Vick only because I was such a big fun when he was with the Falcons and I know how great he could of been with us. Best of luck to him, but I’m glad that we no longer have Vick & Mora because I think our franchise is better off in the long run with the team we have, including the front office.
October 1st, 20108:14 am
Mora had a talented group of players in Atlanta and could have gotten so much more but he didn’t make demands on them other than to be his good buddy.
Seahawks fans hate Mora:
“As a Hawks fan I’m so relieved that this guy is no longer the Hawks head coach. The Hawks would have never turned things around as quickly as they have if Mora was still the head coach. What a jerk. Tim Ruskell was an idiot for hiring Mora in the first place. He was the Hawks secondary coach and the Hawks secondary was the worst in the league. So they then promoted him to head coach. lol. God bless Pete Carroll for saving the franchise.”
October 1st, 20108:15 am
I LOL’d at that…
Mora is such a Jackwagon – thank goodness he’s gone.
October 1st, 20108:24 am
He truly is a joke and a genuine disgrace to the sport. I think the biggest example of growth here is not Vick but Arthur Blank. He got snowed into hiring this pitiful circus clown and then his next hire was Mike Smith. Here’s to Mr. Blank for learning on the fly.
“Rookie linebacker Sean Weatherspoon continues to rest an injured ankle as Michael Jenkins and Erik Coleman take steps toward their returns.
FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Rookie linebacker Sean Weatherspoon did not practice again Thursday, head coach Mike Smith said after practice today. Weatherspoon has an ankle injury, and Smith said the team will take a look at the situation again Friday.
Wide receiver Michael Jenkins participated on a limited basis again Thursday, but Smith said Jenkins has done significantly more this week than he did last week, including the number of reps he’s taking in practice.
Erik Coleman was also limited Thursday, but he saw less time on the field because the Falcons were forced to practice in The Barn because of poor weather outside. Smith said he wanted to make sure that Coleman’s knee didn’t get overloaded with the change of surface.”
October 1st, 20108:26 am
October 1st, 2010
I’m not disagreeing with you but Blanks hire after Mora was that idiot coach now at Arkansas.
October 1st, 20108:33 am
As many mistakes as he has made, not rolling Mike up under the bus was the classier move. Gottlieb got his answer and knows the possiblt results when he pressed.

regardless of how you feel about Mora, the jr. radio host got his A$$ handed to him! I thought it was hilarious!! The NFL needs Mora!
October 1st, 20108:51 am
Lemmings – go buy a movie ticket. Mora might be a jerk but that doesn’t make Gottlieb a journalist.
Given the responses to this (and other “interviews”) in recent years, it is obvious the media is not a problem.
It’s the audience.
October 1st, 20108:52 am
Why in the hell did Fox give Mora any type of job? Hate the guy. Listening, Jim? Your the biggest P—k ever to walk the sideline. I hope you’re done with football or better, football is done with you.
GEAUX SAINTS! OUR TIME!!
October 1st, 20108:54 am
Lil’ Jimmy Mora is a chump…….
He allowed Vick to be a lazy punk in his preparation and practice. He couldn’t coach him in leadership because Lil’ Jimmy himself was, and obviously still is, a shallow little prick.
Is he ever going to get his Dream Job at the University of Washington?
October 1st, 20108:59 am
I’m not sure why people are so suprised when interviews with Jim Mora go this way.
This is how many of these now? Why does he keep getting booked?
He doesn’t respond well in situations he can’t completely control. This is the result.
October 1st, 20109:01 am
Definitely a great line of questioning. Mora shud have thrown Vick under the bus just like Vick threw him under the bus. He tries to be too nice to players which is why he got fired in ATL and SEA. When you are too nice to athletes, they will manipulate and run over you to their advantage.
I an a Vick fan but it was obvious that the Falcon organization as well as Jim Mora was relying on the skills that Vick had already (running)and not developing any of Vick’s other potential strengths (passing).
October 1st, 20109:02 am
This makes me appreciate Smitty that much more. Smitty sometimes flys off the handle a bit on the sideline but by the time he speaks to the media again he’s collected.
Mora kicked people off the bus.
He can’t handle criticism. He holds grudges and he’s incapable of self evaluation.
Mora sounds like Lane Kiffen…both are punks born on 3rd base who think they’ve hit a triple.
October 1st, 20109:05 am
D. Led, your thoughts?
October 1st, 20109:06 am
@joe… Nice analogy!!
None of those questions would be tough if Mora had been even remotely truthful during his time in Atlanta.
The Falcons went from a well run diciplined simplistic but effective offensive approach (and horrible GM)
To a poorly run attempt at being player friendly and the absolute incorrect offensive scheme to fit the personnel they had at the time.
Vick is much better NOW because he had over a year worth of learning the offense before he was thrown into it and he was focused and he is diciplined now. Is that hard to say? NO. It is when you lied to people for years saying that he was when he wasn’t at all.
October 1st, 20109:07 am
Eyes working in Boston now, Haters!
October 1st, 20109:10 am
He didn’t have to throw Vick under the bus. He could have said, I wish I had been better equipped to handle that job at the time. Vick always had that immense talent and we should have done a better job of helping him handle financial success. I should have been tougher on them as a team. That’s what that young team needed at the time. He’s always had this in him he just didn’t understand what he had and what he had to lose at the time.

Idiot sack head dat rats, here is a good example of dumb ass Saints fans
Hey seen, your wife is kind of cute but she sure is stupid…………..take a look…..!!!
27 -24 you lost moron.
I’m kinda with Mora on that one. Yeah, he’s still bratty, but what did the guy expect him to say, “I was a crappy coach, but I know how Eagles fans should feel”. The guy tried to punk Mora, but you can’t punk a punk. Good for him. I’m glad he isn’t our coach, but I like him on TV.
October 1st, 20109:20 am
Coach Jim Mora and Coach Singletary are cut from the same cloth…UNPREPARED and ILL-CONCEIVED.
Neither earned their way to be a NFL head coach. Both got their based on nepotism.
Interview is hilarious. Mora felt it when Doug spoke about him keeping his job in ATL. Poor question from Doug. Job of the interviewer to take the high road.
October 1st, 20109:22 am
@PMC….. Soooooo, you’re saying he shud have thrown himself further under the bus??? So Mike Vick is not responsible for his actions, Jim Mora is? Vick already said he was lazy in ATL so he knows he did not put in the work he shud have. He knew that when he was in ATL but he relied on the abilities he had an did not take the time to develop anything else. I use to watch him on the sidelines, completely disengeged until he had to come back in for a series. Great quarterbacks of the game study aerial photos of schemes or try to motivate the team. Vick was selfish and he has said that.. Somebody else (Jim Mora), shud say it as well and at least get that monkey off his back!!!
October 1st, 20109:24 am
I always say don’t feed the trolls but I think we can make an exception for SeenThisB4. This peeshwank “seen” is an infantile idiot who makes no football commentary, just crys a river of tears………”We were cheated! You paid the refs! The Falcons got lucky!” He blindly supports a team who he thinks won’t let him down. He rides the coattails of where he seems to be apparently in an altered state of moral victory, without even so much as a bother to look at some stats. He is like a swaddled baby, no knowledge of what is real, just comfortable to be wrapped up tightly in his blankie of crap. He has got to be a sad case if the best he has in the world is to go on blogs just to be an A hole. Sad he gets his endorphin rush in a way that obviously says, “Help me, I am whacked out”.
Bad news for him though, the Saints had a nice ride but they have crested that wave and are going to be stuck in the trough of losersville again.
27-24 Falcons Win!!!

Jim Mora jr is a climmer – he doesn’t know which job he wants first – his dad is right, he didn’t know how to coach the “coach killer players” either. Jr in my opinion would have could been “A GREAT COACH” instead he was “just a good coach”. With cultral players of today a coach needs to go to the “Jimmy Johnson” methodology of coaching, Jimmy was truly a genius at handling the cultral folks.
October 1st, 20109:36 am
Veedub. Mike Vick has already admitted that he was immature and unfocused when he was in Atlanta. I’m not saying he’s not responsible for his actions. Typically people who are working in a capacity where they will have to confront a past collegue about their comments will fall on the sword in the interview and be self depricating whether or not the party deserves it or not. Mora agreed to an interview and then was displeased to find out that he would have to confront his own past dishonesty; failures and those of Michael Vick. I’m not sure I understand why he was caught off guard by the questioning but he could have handled it much more easily and in a manner which would have benefited him rather than become another piece of blog fodder. He had to know what the questions were going to be about.
I’m not saying Mike didn’t deserve it but going down that road is not the way professionals typically handle themsleves in national interviews.
October 1st, 20109:39 am
Jim Mora? Are you still looking for your dream job in Washington. What a jackass…
October 1st, 20109:40 am
Mike Vick was doing really well under Dan Reeves, then the team decided to go into another direction. A player friendly head coach. It was all down hill after the first season.
Mora has still never realized that he misused the personnel that he had available. The team was better than he could get them to play.
Mike Vick was too immature for his job and so was Jim Mora. Really bad combination for us.
October 1st, 20109:43 am
Just because a guy used to coach ball doesn’t make him a broadcaster. Mora is certainly no Madden or Gruden–he’s not even a Billick. He stinks! Please leave the play by play to actual announcers–you know, professionals who have spent years honing their craft instead of wannabes and failed coaches/players….
October 1st, 20109:44 am
Great implied question from Gottlieb that set Mora off: “You were getting paid to coach the Falcons and now the guy who was your QB and face of the franchise admits he was lazy when he played for you. Wasn’t it your job to get him to do the film study and work on his fundamentals?”
At least Gottlieb didn’t ask Mora about the time he was on the cell phone trying to find out what it meant for the Falcons playoff chances if the overtime game they were in finished in a tie. Mora’s head might have exploded.
October 1st, 201010:07 am
@PMC.. Touche, I agree.. Jim Mora is an A$$ for acting as if the questions were out of line. If Jim Mora was mature enuf he would be able to throw Vick under the bus in a professional manner, know what I mean? But I guess I really shud not xpect that type of wisdom from J Mora. So we move on!!
October 1st, 201010:11 am
Exactly. The good news is we get to talk Football from here on out here in ATL.
October 1st, 201010:22 am
The only success Mora had in Atlanta was the first year when he inherited Dan Reeves team. Once Mora started putting his imprint on the team they went steadily downhill. He wasn’t much of a coach and now that Vick has been admitting what we already knew about “being lazy” while he was here, that just falls back on the coach too.
A offensive co-ordinator and a Head coach both know if they are getting 100% out of their QB. To let such a scenario go unchecked and not come down on your QB is inexcusable.
I don’t think such a thing would have happened under Reeves and I damn sure don’t believe Coach Smith would tolerate it either.
Thankfully, our current QB works harder than most in the entire league.
October 1st, 201010:26 am
Good job Doug…..We all know now why Jim Mora, Jr. is not a head coach in the NFL and no longer on the NFL Network. The front offices of Seattle and Atlanta are so happy today.
October 1st, 201010:34 am
I was actually listening yesterday and could see it wasn’t going well when he tried to turn around the questions back on the host….I was thinking he was kind of pickin’ a fight at that moment.
MORA’S CAREER IS DECLINING LIKE THE PADRES’ CHANCES OF MAKING THE PLAYOFFS.
October 1st, 201010:40 am
Separated at birth Marky Mark Wahlberg and Jim Mora. Have you ever even seen them in the same room together? Think about it. LOLOLOL
October 1st, 201010:43 am
What a travesty it was to fire Dan Reeves and replace him with this moon bat. Fortunately, the organization recovered nicely.
October 1st, 201010:44 am
Dang! Just read that Mora is doing color this Sunday with Dick Stockton calling the game. Stockton used to be solid and still has the pipes but age is creeping up on him and it’s starting to show on the air–Mora just stinks….
I like Jim Mora Jr. and his dad. These reporters are aggravating at times. I saw nothing wrong with Jimmy’s answers. Goutlieb erks the heck out of me as well.
October 1st, 201010:55 am
On another note… We really need another receiver. I really wish ATL would have gone after TJ Houshamazelly!!!! They could have gotten him for at least a year at the league minimum 800,000 because SEA would be responsible for the remaining $7.2M of his $8M contract. Big mistake. Harry Douglas is struggling and not providing any production at all, although Matt Ryan has overthrown him a couple of times. If he doesn’t pik it up, we are going to be exposed because people are going to really start to focus even more on Roddy!!! What ya think PMC?
October 1st, 201011:07 am
I think we are ok with Receivers right now. Besides Douglas, we have Finneren and Michael Jenkins. Finneren does nothing but make plays so he is the one I’d be putting opposite of Roddy anyway.
October 1st, 201011:08 am
I’m so glad to be out of this rat infested city. The prevalent lack of intelligence in this whole region always astounded me. It’s a wonder that any type of positive output can be generated here. Just look at the uneducated posts here. Unbelieveable.
October 1st, 201011:18 am
Hi Jim Mora! At first I didn’t think it was you but then you mis-spelled unbelievable so I figure it has to be you. Any chance you could talk less during Sunday’s broadcast? We’d appreciate it.
Michael Vick still owe’s this city and Aurthur Blank a public apology for his actions. I know a lot of people that will never forgive or root for the man until he own’s up to what he did to the city and franchise. He has a great opportunity to do this next week… We’ll see if he ever owns up to his transgressions to the fans who supported him for years, or not.
And if any of the media members have the balls to bring this up to him.
October 1st, 201011:30 am
Good for Mora! What kind of stupid Q is how a fan base should feel? It is just dumb! How do people feel? McNabb was traded right? He was not a free agent and chose to leave the Eagles. So why would you ask that question.
From what I remember Vick was very good player in ATL and had some very impressive games in ATL. Did Doug Gottlieb just arrive on our planet?
Now Mora was never an impressive head coach and I am not saying he did achieve great things with Vick but if you’re going act like journalist you need stick with an objective line of questioning and not just wing it. Get you facts and ask difficult questions of substance and most of all be objective.
October 1st, 201011:33 am
LIke I said…..lemmings. If you think that was an “interview” then it’s no wonder “reality” TV is so successful.
I don’t care for JM one way or the other but I care less for what passes as journalism these days. Why don’t you all just skip to the chase and buy Gottlieb’s sponsor’s products.
October 1st, 201012:01 pm
Jim Mora comes off like an unprofessional jerkwad. No wonder he is “FORMER” NFL coach Jim Mora
I heard it live…and couldn’t believe mora got so upset. What a dbag!

“Bad news for him though, the Saints had a nice ride but they have crested that wave and are going to be stuck in the trough of losersville again.”
Sid, the Falcons are 2-1 and the Saints are 2-1. You should probably refrain from bias and uneducated meteorological reports on wave action if you hope to maintain an illusion of credibility. Yes, I am a Saints fan, but unlike you, I’m a fan that happens to know some things about the game of football.
First off, congratulations on getting out of the Dome with a W last Sunday, but here’s why you should be concerned instead of elated about the results of the game (at very least, here’s why you shouldn’t make stupid homer comments like the one quoted):
The Falcons overwhelmingly won the posession battle, holding the ball for over three quarters of play (something that doesn’t usually happen to the Saints), the Falcons played at the top of their game all the way through, Drew Brees made some uncharacteristic mistakes that are few and far between, the Saints (who hold on to the ball as well as anyone) gave up three turnovers, the Saints D forced 0 turnovers, and the Saints played flat pretty much the whole game.
In a nutshell, the Falcons outplayed the Saints in most aspects of the game, yet still had to rely on a 1/100 missed field goal in overtime to win the game.
If it takes all that for the Falcons to beat the Saints, again, you should be worried.
If you’d like to point ahead to December 27 in Atlanta as your opportuntiy to prove me wrong, don’t bother. The Falcons will win that game too, because the Saints will be resting their starters.
Remember, it’s only been 3 games, and we’re the champs.
October 1st, 201012:32 pm
Now that was a funny interview. Some of these media guys ask the dumbest questions and it’s about time said the things that others only thought. One thing you can say about Mora is he will speak his mind…even it he occasionally puts his foot in his mouth. I too have no tolerance for dumb stuff.
Wow, I gotta agree with Mora on this one, that interviewer is an idiot. I mean, “how should eagles fans feel?”??????? What the hell kinda question is that????? How the heck would you answer that? Some of these sportsradio talkshow hosts are just unbearable.
Also, did someone say that Vick needs to apologize to Arthur Blank and the city for his actions?????? Are you crazy? How many times has he apologized? What more does he have to say?
That was hilarious though, I loved hearing Mora call him out like that! That guy is a dbag.
October 1st, 20101:53 pm
I am surprised that some people are taking Mora’s side here. But, really, I shouldn’t be. Mora’s lack of civility is the norm in what passes for “journalism” nowadays. Rudeness and arrogance are tactics used all too often by the O’Reillys, Limbaughs, and their ilk. While the reporter’s question regarding how Eagles fans “should feel” was a dumb question, Mora could have responded to the question in a better way. I think what really ticked him off was the mention of him losing his job in Atlanta. Mora better learn how to keep his cool, or he will soon be out of a job as a “sports broadcaster”, too.
Jimmy The Greek
October 1st, 20103:17 pm
And he wonders why he can’t keep a job. He lasted a whole year in Seattle. Wow.
October 1st, 20103:36 pm
I’d love to see Mora do a Q & A with a studio audience…
Q: Coach, do you think you could have done a better job coaching Mike Vick?
A: Whaa…What kind of stupid question is that?? Do I come to your crappy little house and tell you that your rental furniture doesn’t match? Geez, you are so dumb…and ugly too. Next question?
October 1st, 20105:36 pm
Jim Mora Jr & Sr had all kind of talent and didn’t know what to do. Why are these clowns allowed to be commentators? So disgusting!
October 1st, 20106:01 pm
Hey JM, Jr…..remember when you said in your opinion if we drafted Spoon first, the Falcons would be wasting our 1st round pick? And you call yourself a football coach. We still don’t care what your opinion is!! What a joke!!
October 1st, 20109:18 pm
Doug Gottlieb was a jerk. Mora is right “…How should people feel?” C’mon that is a stupid question.
October 1st, 201011:40 pm
I remember when the press went after Norm Van Brocklin when he was our coach.
He wasn’t the type to take a lot of “stuff” from these idiotic reporters/interviewers either.
I remember one guy asked him “Coach,if you get fired, what will you do?”.
Van Brocklin’s response; “Well I could always be a sports writer like the rest of you idiots”.
Van Brocklin wasn’t popular with the arrogant, rude, know-it-all sports reporter types when he was coach and to me that is a resume enhancement.
This guy was asking stupid, aggressive, rude questions and coach Mora was absolutely right.
He’s just not the type of guy to crawl……. in other words, he’s a man.
Give ‘em Hell coach.
October 2nd, 201010:48 am
Gottlieb is ok but he says some dumb stuff on the radio, more often than any of the good announcers. Some of the questions to Mora were pretty stupid. It was a bad interview. Maybe, Mora going off will motivate him to do better work.
October 2nd, 20105:43 pm
While I agree mora said he he said to be a jerk, I agree in a way. I am sick of espn talking about how we should feel about something. Don’t tell me how to feel, tell me the score, who got traded, and who retired. I will decide how I should feel about something. I won’t even watch espn, or listen to their radio anymore, too tired of them beating every subject to death.
Tired Of It
October 4th, 20107:45 am
Do you guys eve plan on letting go of the M.Vick thing, you white people keep this going on, and on, and on! Just to keep spewing your ill-will at this man over and over again, and for what? He doesn’t play here any more, and hasn’t for the last 3 years, but because he was a black QB, we have to continue to put up with all this hate and rancor. Whites have controlled and operated the falcons for almost 50 years and what has that brought, nothing but futility, regardless of who the QB was. The Falcons may have had 6 years of futility with M. Vick, but they’ve had 40 years of failure with white QBs, not 1 white falcons Qb have won the falcons a super bowl, and their only appearance was more as a result of Jamaal Anderson’s running ability, not Chris Chandler. The Falcons have only been to the NFC champ. game twice in 45 years, and one of those was with M. Vick at QB. So what is the excuse for all the failure of the white QBs here? Did they not work hard enough, or did they not take their jobs seriously, did they not have the ability? What excuses are you making for the other 40 years under white QBs???????
October 5th, 20101:45 am
I no longer live in A town..miss it!!! but we left during the Vick fiasco and how it divided the city. The Mora circus and his on again off agian romance with foot in mouth disease was the parallel spectacle when the franchise imploded.
Nice recovery by Mike Smith ( a real coach who has no aspirations to coach his alma mater and focuses on the job at hand) > I wish I could be there to see it after bein a Falcon fan for 32 yrs. The franchise may reach the next level and return to the playoffs and Super Bowl again, but this franchise now WILL have winning seasons FINALLY with the right mix of players and coaching.front office personnel after all the endless Sundays I watched and pulled my hair out year after year until “98 then the Vick?Mora yrs and now it seems as if the future is bright from here..which will put folks in the Dome..
And oh ..Jim Mora..maybe after serial broadcasting gigs and assistant coaching gigs, and more foot in mouth narcissicissm.. and more episodes of pointless insight you just MIGHT get to coach your Huskies..just maybe……unless the powers that be in Washington know what most of us already know ..that you’re a one trick pony!
