Former Falcons cornerback DeAngelo Hall, now with the Washington Redskins, gets a warm welcome from Falcons assistant head coach Emmitt Thomas as he returns to the Georgia Dome as a rival during pregame warmups. Things would get messing later. Curtis Compton, ccompton@ajc.com
FLOWERY BRANCH – The Falcons plan to honor all of the former Pro Bowl players during Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers at the Georgia Dome.
The team, through a spokesman, denied a report on ProFootballTalk.com which stated that they didn’t plan to honor defensive back DeAngelo Hall, who got into a sideline tussle with the Falcons head coach Mike Smith last season.
The Falcons will give each player, more than 30, their jerseys, a helmet and a football. They plan to send the gifts to Hall, Michael Vick and Alge Crumpler, all former Pro Bowlers who play with other teams now.

only saw one other person remember Scott Case. when I first became a falcons fan we watched only to see how times he would just crush ball carriers. Top 5 has to be Nobis, Bartkowski, Van Note, Kenn and Tuggle. Many other great players for shorter periods of time.

News Flash! None of these clowns love dogs as much as they claim! They eat them in Asia, hunt them in Europe and kill them by the dozen daily at your local pound. Why the fu*k do you think that smoke stack is burning in the middle of the summer! If you really feel that strongly about dogs where they make you hate ANYONE for the rest of your life then I have the cure. First, go to you local pound and adopt all 102 of them. Then, go to ASIA and raid all of the butcher shops and resturant with dog meat! Do that and you can be the Harriet Tubman of Dogs; the title is yours for the taking. MAKE A MOVE!

@ 33…
Bob Lee was a awful passer…
Bob Berry was awful passer…
Doug Johnson was a awful passer…
Randy Johnson was a awful passer…
Scott Hunter was a awful passer…
June Jones was a awful passer…
but Michael Vick was a AVERAGE PASSER in Atlanta… He was not awful… Don’t believe me? Go to Pro-Football-Reference.com and type in each of those QB’s names. I think you’ll be surprised.
By the way, type in Bartkowski’s name as well.
There have only been two off-the-chart great passers in Atlanta. Jeff George and Chris Chandler. They were way too nuts in the case of George and too fragile in the case of Chandler.
Bartkowski had 3 lights out seasons, people forget the rest where he could barely stay healthy or would collapse off into “Bart Land.” Poor Chris Miller was just knocked silly, nothing could have saved him. That leave Ryan who to this point has been a above average passer. His last two games have been his best in terms of efficiency and production. Still, we have been here before, he has to put together 6 or 7 games to start shaking the label.

I understand why Vick, Hall and Crumpler are being honored. I’m glad all three idiots are gone because they wore out their welcome long before they were sent packing. None of them will ever make the HOF and I suspect all three will eventually get kicked off their current teams.

Judge not least you be judged ROME Dawg…
I guess Favre wasn’t a wasted pick….how many playoffs did he take the Falcons to.
It wasn’t VIck that set the organization back it was the organization. This is the first time in over 40 years that the Falcons have put together back to back WInning Seasons. ANd I DOn’t think Vick is 40 years old…
So why aren’t you up in arms about just Vick “supposedly” killing dogs….you were not there you don’t know if he did or even how many. I guess you also volunteer with PETA and work tirelessly to stamp out all dog fighting and dog killing. How many have you taken in. I think it is even more deplorable the number of people in Georgia that own upto 100 animals in one house. living in crap, spreading disease, i don’t hear you up in arms about that. because the media went after a HIGH PROFILE person, you jumped on the band wagon and want to crucify the man for his transgressions. I am sure your life is perfect. It sounds like jealousy for a man who has tried to turn his life around and is living better than you.

I don’t like comparing players across decades; but if I was forced to pick a top five it would be:
Andrews, Nobis, Sanders, Rison, and Bartkowski (followed by John James, Vick, Tuggle, Reaves, and Luckhurst). Crazy, lazy, or just plain nuts, put “Bad Moon” with Chandler, Vick, or Ryan in his prime and we’d have won a Super Bowl.

If you wanted to honor former great pro-bowl Falcons, why not Steve Bartkowski, William Andrews, Lynn Cain, Wallace Francis, Billy “White Shoes Johnson”, Alfred “Action” Jackson, Alfred Jenkins, Tim Mazetti, Bill Fralic, Tommy Nobis, Jeff Van Note, Jamal Anderson, Chris Chandler, Tony Martin, Eugene Robinsin, Morten Anderson “The Great Dane”, Keith Brooking, “General” Bob Lee, Ron Zook, Claude Humphrey, Mike Kenn and Jesse Tuggle

Most of those are being honored… Cain, Francis, Jackson, Mazzetti, Martin, Robinson, Lee, and Zook were never a All-Pro nor were they selected to the Pro Bowl. Com’on now, I love the Bennett Falcons, but Alfred Jackson was the 3rd wideout on those teams. Shoot, if it is a populatity contest, I’ll take Billy Ryckman and Gilbert Renfroe!

Vick was not only a dog killer but brought shame to “our” team multiple times. I can forgive once, twice or even three times, but damn, at some point I think if it looks like a thug, walks like a thug, talks like a thug, acts like a thug and hangs around with thugs….it must be Mike Vick!
I can hear the PA announcer now…..And now introducing the the convicted felon you all loved, who wrecked your club for years…the man too stupid to give his pot water bottle to a tag along thug, too dumb to have a private doctor fix his herpes, the man who ripped the Falcons off $20M and loved you so much he quit during a game and flipped you off leaving the field…..Ron Mexico, I mean Mike Vick.
Sorry I am just A$$hole enough to be judgmental and don’t care who likes it. It’s fun to hear the “forgivers” in the group whine about my hardened heart.
Vick has squandered a gift and I hope he never forgets that.

I don’t know who this RomeDawg character is, but he surely needs to get a bit of humality. What Vick did was terrible, of that, there is no doubt, but do you keep punishing the guy, who has done everthing requried to try and atone for his transgression? is there no forgiveness in your heart? how can you continue to spew such nenom and hatred for Vick, when “the man” died on the cross that you may have a chance of redemption. He died on the cross that your sins may be forgiven. If he is big enough to give his life for you, how can yolu, a mere human mortal do no less for someone like Mike Vick. it’s really sad that you have no forgiveness in your heart. No human is beyond redemption if they truly are trying to make amends for their sins or wrongdoings and Vick is try to as much, why not give him that chance. Not everyone who commits a crime is always a thug in life, some can make a change and I truly believe Vick is on esuch person. I am willing to give him that chance. I hope one day you will look back and admit that maybe, just maybe you were wrong about Vick and that in the end, he turns out to be decent humanbeing.

For the record, “Big” Ben should be castrated and never be allowed to play another down of football in the NFL. However, not that I believe him, but Rothlisberger claims to be innocent and has not been found guilty by a jury of his peers. Morons like you, FOGHATT, tend to overlook “small” details such as the word CONVICTED.

Will50,
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me for the 6th time and I am an idiot. I love how you guys make this some big moral issue about my inability to forgive. I simply don’t believe he should be honored by the Falcons. I could give a rats butt less what he does, good or bad in life, just don’t “honor” him because that is a slap in the face to fans of the Falcons who he disappointed over and over again. As for his change you believe took place, the thug he ran the dog fighting ring with was at his birthday party 2 months ago and fired a gun. And you still think Vick is a changed man? My guess is Vick is just simply not a very smart man.

That guy who was with Vick in the dog fighting fiasco was there on his own, not thru some invite from Vick. As for the gun fight/shots, who can swear that Vick has anything to do with it. that like someone blaming you for the neighbor 2 houses down form you getting shot and you getting the blame. You my friend are sitting to high on your high horse and making Vick to much the villian in all this. Sure he may deserve some blame, but not as much as you are laying at his feet. The way I see it, you can have all your whinning and pontificating about Vick. You can have all your hatred and spew your venom, but in the end, you are only one person and not the representative of the majority. if it makes you feel better, go ahead and keep wallowing in your hatred, because ultimately, you will be the worse for it, not Mike Vick.

Let me climb off the horse long enough to ask you a question. Do you think the Falcons should honor Vick? Let’s take your work, or anyone who has a job for an example. Let that employee “flip off” a client, lie to the boss, cost the boss a ton of $, be sued by the boss and THEN get convicted of a felony. Would that employee be honored? I don’t care how “high and mighty your forgiveness is”, that just ain’t smart.

Who’s talking about smart. If they “bad” employee did what you said, but inspite of it all did wonderful things for your firm/company/franchise, then yes, i may consider honoring that person, especially if that person exihibited remorse and is making every effort to atone for his misdeeds. He cost the boss a ton of money, but yet, he MADE the boss a ton of money, to me, one hand washes the other. it is not as cut and dry as you are trying to make it. some things goes deeper than mere dollars and cents. We are talking about the fabric of one’s inner being and life here. You may not think that Vick has any moral character, but I beg to differ. but, then only time will tell. You can now get back on your horse and keep spewing your hatred venom towards Vick, but again, in the end, you will be the worse for it, not Vick.

Vick is only the most hated man in America be of all the bad publicity he got for the dog fighting, as if that is the worst crime that can be perfomed by an individual. I beg to differ there. I say that all the murder of human beings in Mexico over the drug trade is 10 times worse than anything Vick did with those dogs. i for one don’t place an animal, as helpless as some may seem, over the life of a human being. Vick is the most hated man in america becasue most of us pick and choose those things that we want to dispise most. he is the most hated man in America by what percentage, 45% our of 100% with 40% beng someone else and another 15% to yet another person. yeah, that 45% is a majority, but a majority of what, citizens based along racial lines? of course, you cant get numbers and turn them to mean anything you so choose. i pay no attention to that, for I know numbers don’t always tell the whole story. You tell that most hated stuff tho the citizens of Mexico who have friends and family murdered daily over drugs and ask them who they hate more, Vick and his killing of dogs are the drug lords who are murdering their family members and friends on a daily basis. My friends, it seems that we need to get our priorities straight.

Did someone honor a drug lord at the Falcons game? Your not comparing apples to apples. By honoring Vick, don’t you think you help promote that killing over drugs (failed a drug test while on probation and the water bottle incident). What are you saying to our children when you “honor” a thug like him? Again, I say, you are missing my point. You don’t condone bad behavior, much less honor it.

NEWS FLASH ROME DAWG: He was convicted of Lying to federal agents and judge. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges in “helping” to kill 6 to 8 dogs. WHich means his name was on the mortgage of the land that was used for the dog fighting, and yes he supplied the money. But even AL CAPONE was given more respect and honor for killing human beings than Vick for his conviction.
Even known members of the KKK have received more honors than Vick. But we don’t want to talk about that do we.
It really doesn’t matter what you think, he will be honored I will be at the game when his name is called and I will continue to cheer for him in his come back and great attempts to turn his life around.

I am surely on the fence on this one guys. I love watching Vick play as I am sure each and every Falcon fan across the globe did on Sunday. The question has nothing to do with what Vick is doing now, it is Honoring him for his past, which all of you can agree is somewhat of a shadow on our great club.
If Arthur Blank and the current Falcons administration want to honor Vick, then that is up to them. You have to remember Vick did not personal effect our lives the way he did his teammates, coaches, and the rest of the Falcon administration. The people who were closest to him were the ones who had to deal with this on a personal level. If they wish to forgive him and honor the ON FIELD achievements he had while wearing the Falcons uniform, then why should we judge him.
Romedog I believe you said it best, we all are in titled to our own opinions, that includes Arthur Blank and the Falcons organization. Let them bestow honor on those they feel are worthy.
On a side note, the Falcons are doing great this year and will need our support each and every game. Let us forget about the past and focus on the bright future we now have ahead of us!!! GO ATLANTA!!!!!!

Romedawg, I am comparing most people pure hatred for Vick over his killing of 6-8 dogs
Vs most people failure to exact the same amount of hatred over the murder/slaughter of innocent human being in Mexico over drugs. The small amount, (allegdely) of drugs Vick had in no way compares to the amount of drugs that is getting across the border. Plus, i wish people would get over this Airport incident of the pipe with the hidden compartment. There was nothing found in it, only it was a pipe with a hidden compartment and we want to crucify vick for that! that is stupid. If the authorities had anything on Vick as far as the waterbottle/pipe is concerned, they would have acted on it. It is a case of “over reacting” over a waterbottle/pipe and nothing more, that is why the matter was dropped, yet we have people like you who want to keep bring it up as it amounts to something when it clearly doesn’t. Clearly, we need to get our priorities right. If Vick wasn’t a celebrity, the deeds he has done would be water under the bridge by now. We glorify wealth and money so much, that any person with plenty of it is always raked over the coals for any misdeeds because we who don’t have their wealth are bitter and jealous. Why? becaue we work hard, sweat, and toil every day for mostly peanuts, when these people, who mostly “white” people consider thugs and uneducated, get millions. It is called jealously and resentment and all this “todo” over Vick is mostly just jealously and resentment, nothing more, it most certainly isn’t because we “love dogs” that much, It is because of the bigotry that we have within ourselves of people we feel are less/inferior to who we are.
