Behind enemy lines: Vilma gives his take on the Falcons

Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma’s weekend is off to a great start.

He had to be pleased with how The U” dismantled the Pitt Panthers on ESPN last night.

He did a Q & A for PlaymakerMoble.com and gave some insights to the game.

Vilma, who had the key tipped pass late in last season’s game at the Superdome, is expecting another close battle.

VILMA: I expect a tough game from the Falcons. Even though we started 13-0 last season and beat the Falcons twice during that stretch, they were close games. We won by three points, I believe, at their place, on a fourth-down stop actually, to seal that victory. Then it was a close game at our house, less than seven points, I think. These matchups, we don’t expect a blowout. We know it’s going to be a grind, and winning a division game is almost like winning two games because of tiebreakers, so we have to get after it.

He calls the Falcons offensive line “gritty.” He talks about losing Reggie Bush and noted that he plans to keep an eye out for a certain No. 44, who had 186 total yards and was named the NFC offensive player of the week.

These are not the same ole’ Falcons. The game in Pittsburgh was a hard loss, however the team took care of business against the Cards. Folks have talked about the Cards being a poor team. In the NFL, you still have to line up and show it on the field. The Falcons dominated a team that they should have dominated in all three facets of the game. It’s “Feeding Time” and the hunting ground is the Superdome. Oh yeah, FIRST!!!!

Do the Aints have a blog you can stalk instead of lurking here in the FALCONS blog?

falkonfan: Yes, but I’m more of a warrior than a cheerleader.

Be careful when you go hunting in the Superdome, the Saints are extremely adept at bagging wild prey there too. And I think, we’re going to have some falcant gumbo Sunday afternoon.

B4,
That is the difference this year. The Falcons are no longer “wild” in the sense of which you speak. They are a very organized and disciplined pack of hungry hunters. Your only meal on Sunday afternoon will be Smashmouth soup with a few slices of Humble pie.

Wat’s up waynester. Listen up, you need to keep a stiff upper lip after your falcants get their tailfeathers kicked. With the way the cowboys and vikings are imploding, your team should still have a shot at the wildcard.

Where’s rekingball? Must have left ajc.com in fear.

B4, do you come in costume to the games like the rest of that rabble that follows the Aints?

BTW, last year was last year…it’s over. New year, new team….for everyone.

Beware of the Birds…..fear the Falcons.

Should be a good game, though.

Waynester,
No time to waste searching for anything Aints related. I don’t post often here on or on TATF. I see B4 and HiramSaint hanging out here like bad rashes. I had a little extra time this morning, so I wanted to poke a little NFC South fun at a rival.

falkonfan: After your team lost to a third string QB, this board was rift with disheartment, disappointment, disgust, and dismay. Then you beat a cardinal team, still reeling from a QB fiasco, on your own home field, and you actually start boasting about how you’re going to beat the defending World Champions. Not only that, but you have the gall to use the “disciplined” adjective in referring to your pretender team. Ah, ha, ha, ha!

Wake up man. You’re blindly walking into a buzz saw and you don’t even want to open your eyes.

B4,
You are the one my friend who should open your eyes. First, you incorrectly assume I am a man; I am woman. Second, I just said I don’t post much; I was as upset by the loss as the next fan, however I did not believe the loss was something to throw the towel in on the whole year. Third, There are no “gimmes” in the NFL; Yes Pittsburgh had some QB issues but so did Zona. You can’t use that argument to bash us in one breathe and use it in the next breathe to attempt a backhanded compliment in the other. Make up your mind!! Either you beat a team with the personnel they use for that game or not!!

Every team has it’s glass-half-empty contingent and anytime you lose an overtime game that could have gone either way it’s tough to stomach. No bragging here, even your teams’ beat writer acknowledged as much in the video DLed just linked to. The vast majority of self-congratulatory auto-backslapping has been coming from youse guys over dere….

My problem aint with the Saints, its the obnoxious, irrational, unrealistic part of the fan base!!! Falcons scored more points in ONE game (41) than the Saints have ALL SEASON (39). New Orleans looks beatable to me.

No apologies necessary, I simply wanted to point out your undeserved air of arrogance. You come to our blog and spewing vile and contempt; I am old enough to vividly remember the days of Aints fans wearing paper bags with tears drawn on them.

Backhanded compliment definition”A backhanded compliment or left-handed compliment is an insult that is disguised as a compliment. The term usually connotes an intent to belittle or condescend.
Using the QB situation to define our victory as well as our loss.
Never mind, it may be too much for you!!!

Everyone forgets that Turner had 76 or so yds. on eight carries last week and didn’t come back ’cause of the rout. Turner goes for at least 125 on Sunday and the Falcons will control the clock. Bam!!! That just happened. Game over.

B4,
On the female reporters; If you are basing your reasoning on the way she was dressed, you may just be a tool. The way one is dressed has never been a license to allow others to treat her with disrespect. Oh and by the way, I can drive a blog and watch the FALCONS run it up and down the field on Sunday.

VDeuce: And yet, the standings are Saints 2&0 and falcants 1&1. Falcants look like patsies to me.

I don’t think they give you style points for beating the cardinals by 20. They might in the college coachs poll, not in the NFL.

Over the last 4 games, the score is Saints 110, Falcons 109. Ya’ll got the “w”s, though. Even when both teams stunk(ya’ll smelled worse, of course) this was a tough rivalry and it’s only gotten tougher as both sides improved. Smell ya later….

AS for the female reporter, you are responsible for the image you project.

And since you can remember when Saints fans wore their bags in what I term, mass protest, then, at the very youngest, you are 35, but probably, much, much, much older.

Enjoy your Sunday afternoon. By the way, catch Brees on 60 minutes later that evening, if you wish. That’s a news type show aimed at the, umm, “mature” audience.

Yeah, it’s an even harder rivalry when your parents are from New Orleans and you are raised in Atlanta, thus causing a sense of split loyalty. Although, my dad and I shared some fun times traveling back and forth between New Orleans and the ATL enjoying the fun rivalry between the two teams.

The falcons aint gone do nothing! when it comes to this team(falcons)fans live off hope.I hope the falcons have back to back seasons,i hope the falcons make it to the playoffs,i hope the falcons can win outside there dome,i hope the falcons defence show up on sunday,i hope the coach call more plays that are not predictable.HOPE HOPE HOPE! when this team can open there eyes and bring in quality veteran help(leadership) and stop going out the cheap way(drafting and playing unproven rookies)then they can win consistantly. You see this year in and year out and thats the players they draft in a two to three year span become solid players then they don’t want to pay for them and they go to other teams and become probowlers. This falcons team aint nothing but a farm system that groom talent to go to other teams and make them solid.Until this organization open there eyes and see they need veteran talent to get them over the hump fans will still be saying there favorite cheer, and thats WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR!!
