FLOWERY BRANCH – The Falcons are giving their typically late-arriving crowd some incentives to arrive early to the home opener against Arizona at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Georgia Dome.
The team will have food and merchandise discounts for fans who enter the Dome between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Over the last two seasons, the Falcons have gone 13-3 at home, but a large portion of the crowd is usually missing at kickoff. Falcons coach Mike Smith believes the team would benefit from the fans arriving early.
“We would love to come out of the locker room and see that place packed,” Smith said. “Our fans do a super job during the game, but it would be nice to get the juices flowing even before the kickoff.”
The discounted food options include a family plan with four hot dogs, four bags of chips, four sodas and four candy items for $40. There is also the combo plan, consisting of two hot dogs, two bags of chips, two sodas and two candy items for $20.
Fans will receive $10 off merchandise purchases of $50 or more and $20 off purchases of $100 or more at all Falcons365 locations in the Dome. The specials are available until 12:30 p.m.
“Our fans are some of the most vocal fans in the National Football League,” team president Rich McKay said. “Our new pre-game enhancements are simply designed to get the bulk of our crowd into the Dome earlier. Our goal is a simple one: by kickoff, we want the Georgia Dome to be a loud and intimidating place from the very start of our games.”
This doesn’t happen in Pittsburgh or Green Bay. What’s the problem? Why are Falcons fans always late? Will you enter the Dome early to get in on the discounts? Or should they have discounted beer and alcohol, too?
