FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson is not too worried about the fact that he didn’t play a game during the preseason.
“Eventually I’ve just got to play,” Robinson said on Monday after practice. “It’s a situation that I can’t really think about. Get my feet under me, that’s the bottom line. I’m a veteran in this game. It’s not my first time going through an experience like this. It’s something that I’m used to.”
Robinson stayed after practice to get some extra running in and will continue to do so this week. Here’s the preview story on Robinson.
“My thing is conditioning,” Robinson said. ”I just have to continue to condition myself and the only thing that is going to get me in game shape is playing a football game.”
Robinson didn’t play last preseason either, but the issue was different. He was holding out, hoping for a better deal with the Houston Texans.
Not playing because he was hurt was tougher.
“I’ve never been one to stand on the sideline and watch,” Robinson said. “It was kind of nerve wrecking, but you have to heal. The season is a journey. You’ve got 16 games to play. There was no need to rush it. I thank the organization for giving me the proper time that it took to heal.”
Robinson knows that he faces an uphill climb.
“I have to play a game in order to get in game shape,” Robinson said. “I’m not in game shape right now. It won’t happen until we play a football game. ”
He doesn’t plan to worry about his plight. He would have preferred to play in the preseason, but the Falcons didn’t let him play against Miami in the third game and rested 22 of 24 starters in the fourth game against Jacksonville.
“You have enough on your plate as a player,” Robinson said. “You can’t go out there saying oh wow, I haven’t played a game, what’s going

to happen? This is my seventh season in this league so I kind of know how to play football.
“I just have to go out there focused and fly around. That’s the main thing. It’s still a game and you have to have fun doing it.”
Robinson would have much rather seen the stationary Charlie Batch as opposed to the athletic Dennis Dixon at quarterback for the Steelers.
“Dennis Dixon, in his start last year, looked real good,” Robinson said. “Everybody gives you something different. With Dixon, you have a versatile quarterback. You hate playing against quarterbacks that can get out of the pocket. That’s one of the things that defenses hate the most.”
Robinson knows that the Falcons signed him for a reason. There pass defense was poor. He’s supposed to make it better.
“Those are the same expectations I have for myself and for this defense,” Robinson said. “I couldn’t come in here and say if we’re OK, that’s fine. That’s not my mentality and not the mentality that I’m trying to bring to this football team. We are trying to be the best.

Uncle Lou Holtz, who coached Robinson at South Carolina.
“I think we have the tools. Now it’s all mental. We have the attributes to be able to go out there and dominate football teams. Now we have to believe that we can do it.”
UNCLE LOU: Robinson had some advice for the rookies who will be making their debut on the road in Pittsburgh.
“One thing that Lou Holtz used to tell me in college all the time, he would always
say, ‘Guys, don’t worry about the fans, they can’t come out of the stands,’ ” Robinson said. ”That helped me as a freshman in college. He would always say that it’s going to be 11-on-11. You can’t worry about the fans because they can’t come out of the stands. That would be the one thing that I would tell these young guys.”

“It’s not the players. It’s the attitude, aggressiveness & ability. The Saints D will always be smashmouth. Get your casts ready”

Watch out folks, they’re so “smashmouth” that they’ll whip out their 25th ranked defense & pour attitude & aggression on you! LOL

LOL, Lombardi is a joke. Gil Brandt, who has 100000000000x the credibility of ANYONE you could possibly name says Ryan will win the MVP.
Ryan is in his 3rd year. He’s going to play good. Not MVP, but he’s by no means a “problem”. Even you really know this if you set aside your troll smack & told the truth. But you would never do that, so you just go on looking foolish, we enjoy it.

o.k. smak talk aside . i think ryan is a smart qb and a good qb but i don’t think he can think quickly on his feet. he’ll probably be remembered as a good qb in atl but if he doesn’t produce this year , with all the hype, don’t you think he’ll be on the bubble after this season?

There were 5 turnovers against the Vikings & you barily won in OT. Farve always throws INT’s, but Peterson fumbling 3x & Taints recovering every one? Dude, that’s what I’m talking about. If not for recovering nearly every fumble every other team made all season, which basically equates to winning the powerball lottery, you guys would have been terrible because your defense can’t stop anyone from scoring. You cannot continually depend on turnovers to win games. You cannot depend on fumbles ALWAYS bouncing to one of your players.
Your defense blows & only got worse. And when the turnovers stop going your way…. I’m guessing we won’t see you around here much.

You realize in his 2nd year he has way better stats & record than Brees had in his first 2 or even 3 years. No, Ryan won’t be on the bubble, that’s dumb.

AINTS…. hahahahah Obviously, the entire NFC South is full of bandwagon fans, but at least Falcons Fans can accept this. The Saints win a SB and suddenly they think they are some sort of “Dynasty”…. Hilarious. They are a paper tiger, and Kroy Beer Man will knock that giant ugly caterpillar off of Drew Brees face this year. One thing I will say for the Falcons Fans… Even when we were horrible, we didn’t shame our team by hiding behind paper bags. Congrats on the SB. Now get the bags ready, because ten years from now the only thing anyone will remember about the Aints is the fact that for DECADES, the 6 or 7 fans that must have been paid to get in that dump of a dome wore bags on their heads. You will always be the fans with bags on their heads. Just like the Bucs, you won your SB and you are loud now, but just like the Bucs, you will now start slipping back to Baghead status and get a little quieter with each passing season. Falcons on the other hand, have had incredible drafts since TD came to town, and with a young core, we are only getting better. Over the next five years, I GUARANTEE the Falcons will continue to improve, and Aints fans will be crying in their grocery bags… hahahaha

[...] – One person that’s not excited about Dennis Dixon starting for the Steelers on Sunday? Atlanta Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson. Here’s what he told D. It was longer than five years ago, but yes the Steelers blew a huge lead and it went to OT. The Steelers converted a hail mary (may have been to Plaxico) down to the 1 or 2 yard line with no time left.

Since the Falcons have never won in Pittsburgh that just means they are due. I like the Falcons in this one 24 – 14. Harry Douglas will have a break out year and even though Robinson is not the best corner in the league I think he will at least give our Safety’s a better chance to make plays because they won’t have to worry about doing the Cornerbacks jobs plus their own
