Birdland – The players and coaches are making their final preparations before reporting for training camp on Thursday.

Coach Mike Smith was out checking on the fields today.

Also, safety Erik Coleman, the latest Falcons to join us out there on twitter.com, got in his final workout today. His twitter handle is: ErikColeman26.

DOL, I love that video. Great move by our marketing department.

Any news on the Weatherspoon front. I’m ready to get my jersey after all the lobbying I did to convince my fellow Falcons fans that he was our man.

I agree my friend; however, I am expecting Rise up to go on until the first weekend in February:). I guess in the next couple of days we both will be roasting out on Falcons Hill listening to the chants of Stats.

POAD, there’s more sinner’s in church than in the Georgia Dome on Sunday’s becuase if they weren’t sinners they wouldn’t need to be at the church asking for forgiveness. So start with the preachers the “SO CALL HEAD OF THE FLOCK”, I though that was suppose to be Jesus, but minister’s are claiming that title. “SO RISE UP AND SUPPORT THE BIRDS”, and a blessing my come your way.

POAD you’re so right. I should drag my rear out of bed on Sunday, get dressed up to go and smile at the rest of the hypocrites while a man stands on a pulpit and tells me how worthless I and the rest of humanity is while he blames the country’s problems on the teaching of evolution, no prayer in schools and homosexuals before asking for 10% of my paycheck. I’m sure that’s exactly what Jesus envisioned 2000 years ago.
No thanks, I think I’ll crack open another brewski and watch Matty sling it to Roddy instead.

what’s the signing status of Spoon? i find it disgusting that only 1 1st round pick has a signed a contract with training camp 4 days away. DOL- is this the agents doings or have the new generation of players just plain greedy??

Dr. Ken — It appears that the teams are moving rather slowly. Spoons agents have been ready, willing and waiting to get the deal done.

Hey Fish House,

I think signing T.O. is a good idea, because the best time to to get a high quality WR is when you don’t need one! I say sign T.O., keep him on a very short leash and see if he can really help this already explosive offense. If our young defense can jell and really start playing great defense i.e. ranking 12th or better over all, then the Falcons have a great shot at going deep in the play offs.

Has anyone every heard of early church? I go the 8:00 a.m. service. Get out and drive 100 miles to see the Falcons play, then get home by the 6:00 p.m. service. So both can be accomplished if you are willing to put out the effort. You really don’t have to make a decision between the two.

I don’t care if you go to church or a football game. I find the commercial funny. the commercial seems racist & blasphemous. It depicts a Black Church while preaching to RISE UP. To be Risen is what God did to Christ. If you people don’t see the direct sales pitch to Blacks in Atlanta You are BLIND. It is great marketing and a great sales pitch. It is aimed mostly to inner city people to support the team located in downtown. The ad is not aimed at OTP white folks for sure. Go to church or don’t go but don’t make a sales pitch making Football like GOD. That is like making Vick the Dog Catcher it just ain’t right.

The teams are slow to sign the number ones because they don’t have to pay them until they’re signed. The is no money coming in during the offseason so why pay earlier?

Despite the heat I will have to make a couple of trips to Flowery Branch to see this team. I am truly excited for what is about to happen. If Jerry and William Moore are ready and JA98 makes a good transition to DT I think we will have a much improved D although I wish we had somehow gotten in the 2nd round of the draft and got a DE.

I’m ready for Jenkins to have a much improved season and Harry to show us why he deserves to compete as the #2 receiver. I don’t doubt Turner and Snelling will pick up where they left off and I hope Sam Baker shows why we drafted him as #1.

All-n-all we go 10-6 and make the playoffs!

I did rise up and bought tickets for the first time despite a tight household budget.

Don’t like this year’s Rise Up slogan at all! Really liked the “Its Feeding Time” pregame video in the dome last year, which seemed to be a “sub-slogan” to “the Hunt is On”. Rise Up just seems like an oxymoron: to associate football and toughness and the whole Mike Smith image with Gospel singing doesn’t work for me. The Marketing Dept completely missed the mark on this one.

I see POAD’s point and agree. What he’s saying has nothing to do with anyones particular religion but how the slogan tends to relate to religion. The PR dept could have done better. Better yet, take a survey from this blog and they would surely find something worth using.

WHERE IS OUR DIVA LINEBACKER,MUST NOT BE THE TEAM MAN THAT HE WAS PROJECTED TO BE. I hope that he will get off his lazy a$$ and come to camp to be th football player that he is suppose to be, if he holds out I hope that one of the other guys kicks him back to 3rd string backup.

Correct me if need be, but isn’t the RiseUP” campaign being run by the NFL? Seems there was another city where they were using the same slogan (Houston, maybe?) I didn’t think anyone local was behind it…..

Why the hate? Yes, there are hypocrites in church every service, but they are there and just might hear a word about a man called Jesus who loved them enough to die for their sins. Perhaps that thought of love just might help them escape from hypocrite to Child of God. The difference between the two is a place in eternity. I love football but it isn’t a priority in my life even though I enjoy it tremendously. Hope the Falcons the best this season.
