Roddy White may have to discuss Vick’s timeline with NFL

Will Roddy White do a flip for the kids at Michael Vick's camp in Virginia this weekend.

Roddy White is probably wishing he didn't decide to attend Michael Vick's "all-white" linen birthday bash.

BIRDLAND – Falcons Pro Bowl wide receiver Roddy White may have some explaining to do to NFL authorities.

Reports have surfaced that Michael Vick did not leave the party as early as his lawyer previous stated. White, the Falcons two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, also stated that they’d left the party long before the shooting occurred.

Video has surfaced showing that Vick left three minutes before the shooting occurred, which is in direct contradiction of the statements of Vick’s attorney Lawrence Woodward and White.

The NFL has already said that it wanted to investigate the facts of the case and it’s likely that White will have to meet with NFL security to go over his version of the story. (Just a bit of advice for No. 84, tell the truth!)

He’s probably not in any trouble under the personal conduct policy, but maybe he just should have sent Vick a birthday card instead of going to work the youth football camp and attending the birthday bash.

Also, since we are talking about wide receivers this morning, what about the news that San Diego’s Vincent Jackson is on the trading blocks.

San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson (83) reacts after making a reception in the first half of an NFL divisional playoff football game against the New York Jets, Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, in San Diego. The Jets' Jim Leonhard (36) is at left. (AP Photo/Lenny Ignelzi)

Over the last two seasons, the Falcons have signed their starting receivers to long-term contracts.

Last season, White was signed to a six-year, $50 million deal.

During the 2008 season, Michael Jenkins was signed to a four-year, $20 million extension.

So with Jackson on the market according to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Falcons

probably can’t afford to get in the mix and add another high-priced receiver.

What do you all think, should Roddy shoot NFL security straight? Should the Falcons get creative and figure out a way to go after Jackson? It looks like Seattle and Washington are the early favorites for the Pro Bowler’s services.

As one who has defended MV7 as a victim of being politically incorrect, although breaking the law and deserving to be punished rightly, but mostly for offending folks sensibilities, I must now say that this is worse. The reason is that he was beginning to get himself over the junk of the past, and now with this mess he is giving all of his haters a legitimate reason to mouth off that they were right all along. He is making his humility look like a put on.

Consequently, Roddy needs to stay away if he does not want the negative press and Bird fans to get on him. Roddy, please stay away from MV7. I know you went to help at a camp, kudos, but if MV7 is involved from now on, stay at home!

I thought MV7 had left an hour or so before the shooting? Wasn’t that the previous claim? Here we go again, the truth will eventually come out! Vick is a moron, why not lay low. I mean you got a 2nd chance already but no, let’s have an advertised birthday bash! He can’t help but attract some of his old boys. Seriously, talent or not not, the guys is just an idiot. Just stay at home and chill with your family and closest friends. This idiot has a party where he has a cover charge. And to those moron that will accuse me of racism, I came down hard on that other tool Rapistberger!

Roddy needs to be careful. In reading what Vick has said and watching what he has done since leaving prison, I’ve been highly skeptical about whether he was sincere in changing or not. This party was a dumb idea that raises my doubts even higher. Dude, have a few people over to the house. You can have a bash when you’re career is over … or else, this crud may help that end come earlier than you want it to.

Roddy should definitely be completely honest. There’s no need to risk his availability for this upcoming season. We need him. Vick clearly hasn’t learned anything. Don’t allow him to pull you down with him Roddy.

Someone needs to counsel both Vick and White and carefully explain that they are FAAAARRR from the sharpest tools in the shed and therefore should really just tell the truth, do they really think people wouldn’t find out when they were there

Tell the truth Roddy don’t go down for trying to keep Vick out of trouble , there are to many camera phones and video systems out there the truth will come out , we don’t need you to have to miss any games for lying to the Czar I mean the commish, we still don’t know how long Babs will be out don’t join him .

giving Mike Jenkins any kind of contract extension was a horrible mistake. He definately wasn’t any better in 2008 or showing us any signs of getting better. Big mistake.

Vick, I really wanted to see him come back, but this latest just kinda makes me loose faith. Oh well.

Vincent Jackson’s character does not fit the Falcons. San Diego isn’t looking to trade him because his ability doesn’t fit their offense, he has become detrimental to their team. Maybe he isn’t as flamboyant as T.O. but he obvisously has become a distraction in San Diego.

Note to Roddy: The higher we soar the smaller we appear to those that cannot fly. And Michael Vick cannot fly my friend. Your blind loyalty to Vick will eventually be rewarded when you least expect it and I am afraid you will also be brought crashing down.

Vincent Jackson is an awesome reciever! Putting him on the Falcons roster would do wonders for their run at the playoffs. White, Jackson, and Gonzo… Matt would just need to throw it up in the air and let one of these playmakers get under it and score.

Blank,

Forget about the new stadium for a season, go after Jackson and win a ring already!

The ONLY thing Vick did wrong was use poor judgment. Unfortunately for him, this is his main problem and is proof he is NOT a changed person. It does not matter when he left, or the fact he was not involved in the shooting. What matters is he felt it was OK to have a large party, in a public place. I can’t believe Dungy did not tell him this would not be a good idea. Since I don’t know for certain, I can’t absolutely say Vick wasn’t warned. Just the same, after spending almost 2 years in jail and losing 2 seasons in the NFL, Vick should know he is not an ordinary citizen and he must take extreme care of his public image by STAYING out of the public!

You Vick lovers need to face it. Vick is a retard.

Some people will think MV7 is a god, even if he was caught redhanded going “Jeff Dahmer” on a victim. So it’s pointless to have an honest discussion with such folks. So why bother. The bottom line is that even though Vick was not the trigger man, he will suffer from the little boy who cried wolf syndrome. Not a word that comes out of his mouth can be trusted and it’s noones fault but his own. He’ll have to live with it, I don’t care if he goes to a 3rd world country and feeds the needy. He will always have to live with this perception. A lesson for ALL OF US.

Team, its off-season and I’m not in shape yet but here it goes:

Roddy White needs to get over it. Have lunch with the guy…grab a beer while watching a game or playing Madden. Don’t PARTY with him?!?!?!?!?? I’m not a Vick basher, but it looks like he can’t move beyond the “I’m an athlete…gotta throw a party” mentality. Don’t get caught up in that Roddy…

Could we send Jenkins #12 and our second round pick for next year for this Jackson guy? I like his skills…not his attitude. Heck, I like Jenkins’s attitude, but his skills…not so much.

Solution: Stand firm and hope that Jenkins has a better year. V. Jackson would get caught up in some mess at Magic City…could be a bad influence on a very impressionable Roddy White.

For all you complaining about Ben not doing any time and Mike doing time..Maybe that’s because there was no evidence against Ben like there was Mike. Did you ever stop to think for a second that our system no longer works on innocent until proven guilty..it is guilty until proven innocent. I think Ben was proven innocent of the charge he was against.

I was a Vick supporter when he was in Atlanta and was a role model for alot of young kids, then he threw it all away for money. He didn’t learn his lesson of picking better friends and associates so now he is in the spotlight AGAIN. I am sick of hearing about Michael Vick to be honest with you.

Let ye without sin pop the first cap, or something like that. And I’m pround to wear my #7 jersey. Its Red on the front, green in the back and the sleeves are orange with black stripes.

Just a reminder, the last time that dummy #7 was in trouble. Reports came out very slowly. A house he owned for his family was used for dogfighting. I remember hearing that Mike was never there, he only owned the place. Then the truth eventually trickled out. Mike could be innocent this 1 time (for all we know) but his track record tells me to stay tuned. Let’s calla spade a spade. Obviously one of Vick homies decided to get even with “Q”Philips for ratting him out. Whether Vick was stupid enough to greenlight this, we don’t know. Whether one of Vick’s homies acted on his own, we also don’t know. WHAT WE DO KNOW, is that this don’t look good for Vick. That’s waht happens when you “keep it real”. Just listen to Chris Rock about keeping it real.

From the Philadelphia Inquirer:

The Virginia Beach restaurant that hosted Michael Vick’s birthday party has given police video that contradicts the account given by Vick’s attorney of the moments before a shooting early Friday, a restaurant partner told the Daily Press of Newport News, Va.
Guadalajara spokesman Allen Fabijan said owners turned over surveillance video to police Tuesday. Vick’s attorney has said Vick left well before the shooting.

Fabijan said two cars carrying Vick, an Eagles quarterback from Newport News, and his entourage left at 2:07 a.m. Three minutes later, shots rang out from the direction the cars had gone, Fabijan said.

An unidentified eyewitness told the newspaper that shooting victim Quanis Phillips, a codefendant in the Vick dogfighting case, tapped or slapped on the hand of Vick’s fiancee, Kijafa Frink, as she fed Vick cake. He said little cake touched Vick’s face, but words were exchanged. Unnamed witnesses gave the New York Post a similar account.

From the Newport News Dalily Press:

The Virginia Beach restaurant that hosted Michael Vick’s birthday party has video that disputes the account given by Vick’s attorney of the moments prior to a shooting that occurred near the establishment early Friday, a restaurant partner said Tuesday.

Guadalajara restaurant spokesman Allen Fabijan said owners turned over surveillance video to Virginia Beach police Tuesday morning after establishing a timeline that conflicts with that outlined to media by Vick’s attorney, Larry Woodward.

Fabijan said that two cars carrying Vick, a Philadelphia Eagles quarterback from Newport News, “and his entourage” drove off from in front of the restaurant at 2:07 a.m. Three minutes later, shots rang out from the direction the cars had gone, Fabijan said.

“You can see everybody duck at 2:10,” Fabijan said of bystanders on the video. “I’m not saying that Michael Vick did the shooting. But he did not leave (long) before” as Woodward said his client told police Monday.

“I stand by what I said, that Michael was long gone before the shooting, does not know who did the shooting and had nothing to do with the shooting,” Woodward said Tuesday. “Anyone who says any different better be very careful.”

Police are investigating the shooting, which wounded Quanis Phillips, a co-defendant of Vick’s in a federal dogfighting case that sent both men to jail. Phillips was treated and released from a Virginia Beach hospital Friday.

Fabijan also disputed Woodward’s claim that security removed Phillips from the party, which attracted approximately 300 guests, including, Fabijan said, Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall and Olympic track gold medalist LaShawn Merritt.

“We know of no incident between him and Michael Vick,” Fabijan said of Phillips. “It was a flawless night until the shooting.”

Under terms of federal probation, Vick and Phillips are prohibited from associating with felons. Fabijan said he does not know whether the video shows Vick and Phillips interacting.

“I couldn’t point out Quanis Phillips,” he said.

The NFL also is investigating the incident, and Commissioner Roger Goodell could suspend Vick if he determines Vick violated his probation or the league’s personal conduct policy.

I read yesterday that MV7 lawyer said that he left about 10 to 20 minutes before the shooting occured… now today reports come out today saying that MV7 left 3 minutes before the shooting… I have to ask a question to all of you! WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE? Whether it was 3 minutes or 20 minutes..the point is that he left BEFORE the shooting happened which lets you know that he wasn’t there at the time and the incident occurred. I wish people would stop jumping to conclusion before they know the facts… let that man live his life… he has done his time and because some people won’t leave him alone about it, he is still suffering from it… I think the only difference between him and Big Ben is that Ben was able to pay the girls off. People ease up on Vick and give him a chance to redeem himself…

Back to the Falcons!!! I agree with BIII in a way by doing whatever they have to do to sign Jackson and going after AJ Green… I would get rid of Jenkins cause he hasn’t produced since he was at Ohio State… Give that $20 million to someone who deserves it!

It highly possible that when the actual truth comes out, which will NOT come out of MV7’s mouth, that he was the convicted con holding the gun. For those who don’t remember, the key is the Falcons kept the wrong QB – Schaub was the real deal – Vick could not even run anymore without knocking the ball out of his own hand – probably too much ganza. Personally, the piece of crap should still be in jail, but then crackers actually expect their fellow citizens to behave in a humane manner.
