Roddy White attended Michael Vick's football camp, but had left the party before an early a.m. shooting occurred.
The National Football League and the Philadelphia Eagles are gathering information on the shooting that occurred after Michael Vick’s birthday party last Thursday outside of Virginia Beach.
The league is checking to see if the player conduct policy was violated or if Vick violated his federal probation order. He’s under probation for three years as part of his federal dogfighting conviction.
Vick’s attorney stated that he was not involved in the shooting.
Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, who went to help at Vick’s youth football game and was at the party, said they both had left long before the shooting occurred.
“We have been looking into it to determine the facts,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in an e-mail Sunday sent to USA Today.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell addressed Vick’s plight at the rookie symposium to reporters last night.
“Obviously, we’ve got to look and see whether there was any violation of policy,” Goodell said.
Vick could be facing another suspension from the league.
Falcons Pro Bowl wide receiver Roddy White was at Michael Vick’s 30th birthday party, but left before the shooting of one of Vick’s co-defendants in the federal dog fighting case occurred.
“We were already gone by the time that stuff started happening, so I don’t know what’s going to go on with that or whatever, but we didn’t have anything to do with it,” White told the Newport News Daily Press during a break in the youth football camp.
Falcons Pro Bowl wide receiver Roddy White attended Michael Vick’s football camp at Hampton University on Thursday but was not at a party later that night when a shooting took place.
“Just got off the plane. Goin(g) to Mike Vick’s football camp in VA. Should be good,” White tweeted at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday off his Twitter.com account.
Later, at 11: 05 he tweeted, “Camp was nice. It was hot, but fun.”
Jonathan Feinsod spoke to White’s mother and she said Roddy was fine. He wasn’t sure if White was in Virginia or back in Atlanta, but he was not present at the time of the shooting.
“Roddy is pretty loyal to his friends,” Feinsod said on Friday. “I’m sure he wasn’t involved in anything.”
Several Virginia media outlets have reported that Quanis Phillips, one of Vick’s co-defendants in the federal dogfighting trial, was shot after a birthday party for Vick after 2 a.m. Friday morning.
Lawrence Woodward, Vick’s attorney, said his client was not involved or present during the shooting.
Former Falcon DeAngelo Hall, who currently plays for the Washington Redskins, was listed as one o f the “invited” guests on the flyer for the party. But Friday evening he tweeted that he wasn’t there.
“I understand I was mentioned as a special ‘invited’ guest to attend, but as most of you know I’ve been on vacation with my family,” Hall sent in a tweet at 3:49 on Friday.

Falcon Fan, trust me you have no clue to what a real thug is.
“Chef” I agree with you as far MV7 putting himself in this position but after seeing things like the Big Ben incident and how even by us here he is treated I find some of the things said unfair. Then you will have some people such as “CONVICK7″ say well he got convicted of a crime and Ben didn’t. So? Is that how we justify ourselves? As long as you don’t don’t convicted of something it’s ok to do it?

Vick probably enjoys life, and the freedom he has earned. 52 Friday and Saturday nights a year, lets say he only goes to a bar on 1 of those nights and only goes maybe 2 times a month, that would mean 26 nights a year he is at a bar, he has been out of prison how long? (Honestly I dont remember) lets say 2 years, thats 52 visits to the bar and this is the first time something has happened? Give me those odds in Vegas!

@Southside Falcon (5:10 p.m.) Here’s the thing you and any other Vick-supporting knuckleheads need to remember:
The public is not and will not cut ANY of these dirtbag thug entitled criminal athletes ANY SLACK anymore because we’re just sick and tired of it. I don’t care if it’s Vick, Rothlisberger, Burris, Tiger Woods, Gilbert Arenas, Milton Bradley, etc., we as fans and decent, honest citizens are TIRED OF THIS CRAP.
You said you were mad at him “3 years ago”… what on earth has changed in your mind? Vick still makes stupid comments, stupid decisions, keeps all these hanger-ons and wanna-bes and thugs around him, and apparently hasn’t learned very much. The only reason he does ANY charity work or camps or anything is because the NFL makes him as part of his “image rehab”… but I don’t think he’s changed a bit and I don’t think he’d do a thing different if he could go back in time… other than not get caught.
Some of us who were not blinded by the “OMG Vick is an awesome QB and he’s ‘representin’ the black community!” while he was with the Falcons saw many, many warning signs of his immaturity…. lack of commitment in the offseason, the water-bottle-pot incident, flipping off fans at the Dome, saying he quit in the last game of the season, etc. We were sick of him when he was still a Falcon… why should we let up now that he’s on another team.
Michael Vick is a felon, a thug, an idiot and an overpaid punk who deserves no sympathy, second chances or forgiveness. Any of us who are not millionaires would NEVER have gotten the breaks he has — we’d never get a second chance at our career nor a short prison sentence in a plush facility. We’d have gotten 5 to 7 years hard time, from what I hear from attorneys who know the law.
Quit making excuses and taking up for ol’ No. 7. He’s a big boy and can deal with his own crap. Everything that has happened to him is because he makes STUPID DECISIONS. One of these days these decisions might get him or somebody else killed.
Vick needs to crawl back under the rock from whence he came and stay there. Until he makes some LEGITIMATE contributions to society and REALLY changes his life and tries to make up for what he’s done, I just as soon never read about him in the paper ever again.
And Southside, I am not on a “high horse”… I just don’t agree with your statement of “Vick is trying.” Nope, he’s doing what he can to try to save his image and get some endorsements. Left up to his own, he’d be back running with the troublemakers who he calls friends. This is not being judgemental, this is stating facts — Vick is a felon dog-killer who is a scumbag and does not deserve support from ANYBODY except his mother and family, who have to love people like that. The rest of our society should wash our hands of Vick and never speak of him again.

If you commit a crime, there is no way you can be rehabilitated and a contributing member of society, you are simply trash! Lets overthrow the court systems, and the constitution itself and start a movement to sentence all those that commit crimes to death! Then you could live in your utopian society where everyone goes to your church, and believes in all that you do.

And before more disinformation is passed as “fact” here:
Mike Vick was at the party.
Quantis Phillips showed up to confront Vick (probably because Vick sold him out to the Feds).
He argued with Vick, at which point the argument made its way outside the club.
At some point outside the club, Phillips was shot (most likely by a member of Vick’s posse).
Right now, authorities know there are witnesses, but the witnesses are not cooperating, or “snitching,” as the street parlance goes. Either because they are scared of Vick and his posse, or because they are loyal to Vick and his posse.
Either way, local authorities will probably have no luck getting witnesses, or the victim, Phillips, to talk.
If the Feds get involved, someone will talk.
At that point, Vick will be shown to clearly be in VIOLATION OF HIS PAROLE. Which is a mandatory jail sentence.
Or.
It’ll come out that, perhaps, Vick even went so far as to order the shooting.
Either way, once again, it doesn’t look good for Vick. And of course, he’ll lie, lie, lie to protect himself, hoping others will lie on his behalf… again.
Some dog killers never learn.

Hey Vick Fan — apparently you can’t read. See, nowhere did I say Vick should be put to death… I SAID HE APPARENTLY IS STILL A THUG AND HAS NOT LEARNED HIS LESSON!!!!! He still surrounds himself with troublemakers!!!
You apparently need me to explain like I would to a 3rd grader so here it is: Yes, Vick can have a birthday party, but my god, 2 a.m.? Go to dinner at 8, go to a place to party at 10, everybody go home by midnight. Is that so hard? And of all the parties I have been to and birthday dinners I have attended, NEVER has anyone been shot. know why? BECAUSE I DON’T HANG OUT WITH LOSERS!!!
You said “If you commit a crime, there is no way you can be rehabilitated and a contributing member of society, you are simply trash.” I didn’t say he can’t contribute to society… I just think he is still an idiot who makes bad decisions. Heck, I think Vick is so dumb he could not pass 9th grade at some of our country’s better schools. I think he can be a “contributor” by working at a burger joint, spending his own money to travel and give speeches to kids, donate a TON of money… I mean, most of his life savings… to animal rescue groups….. THEN AND ONLY THEN would I think he is really trying to rehab and contribute to society. Right now, all I see is a spoiled prima-donna who b****es and moans about lack of playing time for the Eagles. THE DUDE SHOULD BE LUCKY TO HAVE A JOB IN ARENA LEAGUE 2, MUCH LESS THE NFL!!!
It’s obvious to those of us not blinded by athletic talent that Michael Vick is simply a bad man who at 30 years hold still can’t make grown-up decisions, and we as a society would be better off if he just moved to Siberia.

And by the way, the mamby-pamby “coddle these poor guys in jail and try to rehab them” crap hasn’t worked in our society for 40 years. The only way a lot of idiots get a message in their thick skull is to pay a VERY heavy price by prison time and hefty fines. I don’t mean jail time in months, i mean YEARS. Our court system and jail are not supposed to be elements of rahabilitation for “poor guys who have fallen off the straight and narrow path”…. they are supposed to be elements of justice to levy PUNISHMENT on CONVICTED CRIMINALS.
Until you and every other Vick-lover realize this, you will always wonder why the vast majority of us don’t welcome this thug back with open arms. It’s because we’ve seen too many cases of repeat criminals and guys who make the same dumb mistakes over and over and over, USUALLY because they didn’t learn from the slap on the wrist they got after their 1st, 2nd, 3rd offenses.
Vick (and all you vick lovers) need to grow up and mature and live in 2010. He is no longer a star athlete, no longer a role model, no longer the face of the Falcons franchise, and no longer a hero…. heck, he’s not even an elite NFL quarterback anymore. He is a sad, pathetic convicted felon who still hangs out with ghetto trash.

By the way, dee sizzle @ 5:56 p.m., nice mature comment by you. Anyway, most of us are willing to overlook small crimes and forgive somebody for driving without a license, drunk and disorderly, misdemeanor simple battery after a shoving match outside a restaurant, etc. But we are NOT going to overlook felonies… paint it any way you want, dee sizzle, but whether you are black or white, most of us sports fans are sick of your misbehaving and expect better role models. So pull your pants up, sell your gun, disassociate with the thugs, cut your hair, skip the tattoos, get rid of the motorcycle, and ACT LIKE A FREAKIN’ GROWN UP! Then and only then are you deserving of being a role model. If Joe Montana and Walter Payton and Alan Page and Roger Staubach could do it, then by god, TODAY’S ATHLETES can do it.

By the way, Calm Down at 5:59 p.m….. hey, Vick has not shown me or anybody else that he can make good decisions, and besides, nothing really good can come from being at a club at 2 a.m. anyway…. so no, I don’t think it’s unrealistic at all to expect him to go home by midnight. Besides, if I was a convicted felon who had an image problem and knew that I could get in more trouble by associating with bad people or having a bad incident happen around me…. you’re darn right I would be home by midnight! It amazes me that people think pro athletes have some God-given “right” to be out all night and associate with thugs… really, think about it… is that the smartest decision to make? Certainly not. Go have dinner then have a Dairy Queen ice-cream cake at home for God’s sake… no need to be “clubbin” at all hours of the night. It’s stupid and counterproductive.

Hey ty @ 6:10 p.m…. on judgement day, God will NEVER judge me for purposely killing another living being… so quit this “we can’t judge Vick” charade. We are told in the Bible to judge people against God’s laws and the expectations he has set for us… so judging somebody for murder, rape, stealing, dog killing, lying, fraud, burglary, etc. is not piling on, it’s called “holding people to the expected standard of behavior we have in our society.”
Geez, am I the ONLY person who understands this concept?????

I loved Vick. I thought he was going to be a great QB for the Falcons but when the story first broke about the Dogs he pulled the wasn’t me card. That old thing where if i deny it maybe i will get away with it.
If he had just taken responsibility for his actions made a donation to the ASPCA for a couple or 3 mill he would have never done time nor would he have been suspended from the NFL

And by the way, you people want a real role model for our society? Go look up the career of Alan Page, former Minnesota Viking defensive lineman… he is a Hall of Famer and has had a TREMENDOUS impact on society after football with his charity work, scholarship foundations, and career as a state supreme court justice… do you think anybody like him would ever be out with criminals at a nightclub at 2 a.m.? He was not a man when he killed dogs and he was not much of a man when he tried to make excuses… so he needs to learn how to “man up” and make intelligent grown-up decisions… but apparently he still has a way to go with this.

I’m very dissapointed and a little surprised that Mike Vick would still be hanging out with the same people who accompanied him down the road to disaster (Quanis Phillips) in the past. I hate to see any young person throwing their life away by makeing bad decisions and taking unnecessary risks. I was just talking to my wife yesterday and saying that you have to have the common sense to stay away from people who have proven that they are not of good character.
We often get warnings, but many of us do not heed those warning until we get to the shoulda – woulda – coulda stage. Often, too often, that stage is behind bars or in an emergency room. I hope this serves as ANOTHER wake up call for Mike. WAKE UP MIKE!!!

And I respectfully ask that you don’t call him a “young man” anymore… he is what, 30 years old? Time to start being a grown-up Mike!!! Most of us had to start doing that at 18-19-20 years old… you’re about a decade behind. We’ve all heard of the Madden curse and for Micheal Vick it’s been HUGE!!!! Since he’s been on the cover he’s lost half a year to an injured ankle, cost Dan Reeves his job, been indicted, convicted and jailed for dog fighting, been suspended by the NFL, forced to play backup with the only team that wanted him and now has been mentioned in a story about his birthday party and a shooting. All of that and the curse he put on the Falcon franchise! We replaced Dan Reeves with Jom Mora Jr. and Bobby Petrino so that both coaches can get the most out of Mr. Dark Cloud Follows Me Around! Made Arthur Blank look like a fool for standing up for him when the allegations first broke out. And, I don’t believe, season ticket sales have recovered since Vick went to Leavenworth.

Jeff – No, no, no, you mistake what I am saying. I LOVE spending my kids birthdays at DQ, or whatever……but for my birthday my wife and I like to step out….sometimes maybe even in midtown until….ohhhh close your eyes Jeff…..4AM!!!!! OH MY! And put a camera crew behind me and watch what happens in Midtown at 4am, I will bet I have been within 100 yards of a shooting several times, and I will bet I even broke a law or 2! My point is put a spotlight on anyone except you and we all would be crucified. And to be honest I am not necessarily a Michael Vick fan, I dont know the man……I am a #7 Vick the football player fan, I cant wait to see him rebound and play to his full ability again. I believe, truly believe he knows he is in a bad place in his life, and he has done what most would do revert back to your comfort zone, your own safe place, which is his home town, his family and old friends. They may be bad, but its a safe place when the world is crashing around you. Did the article not say he had a kids camp earlier in the day, that is a phenomenal contribution! I applaud him for that. Children are the future…..sorry but they will have a bit more to do with our future than the puppies, and kitties out there. I love animals, I have recently lost my bet friend my dog, his picture and leash hang over my computer now. But those that claim that killing animals, and torturing animals is the end of the world are probably saying so as they eat their Filet, off a cow that had his head chopped off for money……its cold hard reality man, it happens. It is the price we pay for being at the top of the food chain. I feel bad for those that try and shelter their lives in a utopian society. Take the good with the bad, and always look for the good in people before crucifying them over an article in the paper. Off the box now, sorry for switching gears 14 times, without warning.

VickFan — wow, you did switch gears a few times, but at least you make sense and make some intelligent arguments on here… some of these folks today are apparently off their meds….
And i understand what you said about going out, having a party, etc. etc… but here is the difference — you are an average Joe that nobody knows and nobody cares what you do. Vick is a national celebrity who is a convicted felon, SO HE HAS NO BUSINESS BEING OUT CLUBBIN’ AT 2 A.M.!!!!! If I were in his shoes, with all the trouble he’s been in, he SHOULD be home with his kids eating a DQ ice cream cake!!! My god, it would take the brains of a turnip to go out and put myself in that situation if I were Vick!
You seem to be able to separate Vick the QB from Vick the man… but sorry, i put them together. You are who you are… and every facet of your life makes up who you are. And honestly, I think you give him too much credit… he was never an elite NFL quarterback, just a lightning-fast guy with great athletic skills. He was not considered a warrior, a great leader, a clutch guy… just a good athlete.
My point to you, respectfully, is this: if people want to go out to a party or a club at 2 a.m., by all means, they can do that…. but if you’re a convicted felon and the eyes of the world are on you, waiting for a mistake, why put yourself in that situation??? That shows bad judgement on Vick’s part, and it’s simply part of a pattern of behavior… in other words, he never seems to learn his lesson.
Until Vick can make better decisions, hang out with better people, and make some LEGITIMATE, REAL, NON-POSTURING improvments in his life (i.e., real change and not just something to fix his image), then I think he is doomed to make stupid decisions over and over… and one of these days it might come back to bite him in the rear.

Furthermore (sorry I tried to get off the box but just could not), I like the man because he played his heart out on TV, yea he made millions doing it, but I PAID to watch him, and I would pay to watch him again. It was not that he was a great player…..no not at all, plenty of those out there. It was that one series in the playoffs, I think it was against Green Bay, or Minnesota…..it was snowing and the Falcons were losing, Vick took the team on his back and drove the team down to a touchdown on his own. He played with heart, he put it all on the field….he loves the game, he didn’t do that for money, he didn’t earn anymore or less…..that was a man fighting for what he believes in, what he loves Football. If we could have that drive in every Marine, the world would be a much safer place.

OG Falcon Fan — excellent point. The only reason he seems “changed” or “contrite” is because he got caught. Had he never been caught, he’d still be involved in all that disgusting behavior.
And to those of you calling us “hypocrites”…. what’s wrong with calling out a person for breaking the law and being a criminal thug? That’s not judging, it’s called “holding people up to the standard of expected behavior in our society.” You people try to lower those standards — people like me are trying to RAISE them.
People like Vick, Roethlisberger, etc. are idiots and entitled punks and they don’t seem to learn their lesson… ONE mistake is understandable, but when it happens over and over and over… that just proves they are bad people, plain and simple, and our society should have no place for them until they learn their lessons and make REAL changes in their lives.

Vick Fan — I agree with what you said about that drive and determination in every Marine… yes, that would be amazing. And kudos to you for your military service — my hats off to people like you for those sacrifices.
But again, I still think you give Vick too much credit as a football player… yes he made some amazing plays, but every one of those could also be credited to his teammates for making a great block, a great catch, etc. He never “single-handedly” won ANY football games — football is a team sport and it takes all 53 guys, not just one. If it took just one guy, then the best players in the league — Manning, Brady, Peterson, etc. — would have 15 Super Bowls each. What it takes is a team effort.
Yes Vick had some great highlights, but he can’t be credited with winning things by himself.

After what Vick has been through he has no business stepping into a club for ANY reason. He should be home celebrating quietly with his family. This behavior shows that he has not really adopted the lifestyle that he tried to convince everyone he was adopting. Millions of people never step into clubs for any reason. He is risking millions of dollars with this behavior. Is this connection with the past really worth that? Very few Americans have the opportunity to make that kind of money, and many are trying by doing all of the right things. Offer me a million a year and I will gladly stay out of clubs for the rest of my life. Most everyone here would do the same.

Always been a falcons fan, My family and I were at the Marriott Resort in Orlando by the pool.. I look over and see Vick and his family. I said “Good to see you” we struck up a conversation and he asked where I was from I told him Atlanta. Also I told him he was a strong man to have to face the world who still judges him by the mistake he made. Anyway our families ended up hanging by the pool all afternoon and later we all ended up at the same restaurant for dinner. He stopped by spoke again. I know what the knews has said about him, I know he has served his time. I did not like him as a Falcons QB. But as a person from my personal experience, he is a good guy and was very cordial to my family and approachable. His kids have outstanding manners as well, Mike Vick is okay in my book.

At the football camp, Vick was asked by a reporter Friday afternoon whether he had any comment on the incident.
“Watch what you do. Pick and choose your friends carefully. You just can’t put yourself in vulnerable situations,” Vick said.
On Thursday, Vick told reporters that he tells campers the truth when they ask about his previous troubles “because I don’t want them to follow in my footsteps. … I want them to walk a straight path, do all the things right, and just live a good life, and be happy.”

Birds of a Feather @ 7:25 p.m…. excellent point. I think StillhateTech @ 7:11 p.m. needs to READ THAT POST. Over and over. Read it until it sinks in. Read it until it makes you sick. Vick… held… dogs… underwater… until… they… died.
He is a monster, a thug, and a ghetto punk… whether he is white, black or green, he needs to man up and change his life and he’s done neither. He simply plays to the crowd and tries to convince people to think he’s a certain way, when in reality, he is a monster.
It’s been said that your true character is who you are and what you do when nobody is looking. I think we all know what Vick does when he’s out of the public eye — he sleeps around and gets STDs (Ron Mexico), he smokes weed (the water bottle incident), he kills dogs (dog fighting) and now he hangs at clubs at 2 a.m. instead of spending the evening with his children.
Let’s call him for what he is people… QUIT DEFENDING HIM!!! Michael Vick is a complete loser in the game of life, and you don’t get a second chance at that. You are what you are, and Vick is obvious a low-life who gets everything he deserves.

Jeff you get the award for taking over the post and making yourself believe that everyone cares what you have to say. Why don’t you just shut it dude?
For some reason this newspaper’s sports section has an infatuation for the former quarterback of our NFL franchise who, while being incredibally electric on the field, didn’t do anything more than bring this franchise the belief that it could win big every year. He almost squashed that same sentiment single-handedly.
However, whenever something about Vick comes up people like Jeff who just can’t get over how much they dislike others can’t shut up. Jeff do you really have nothing better to do than to get upset that somenone isn’t living THEIR life up to your standards so you spend hours on blog trying to tell everyone else why they shouldn’t stick up for someone. People have different values dude, and nobody gives a damn how you compare others to yourself.
By the way, why does anyone here give a damn about what Vick is doing. He got in trouble when he was a Falcon qb three damn years ago. He’s not the Falcon’s qb any longer. The only reason anyone in the ATL should be talking about Vick is if he is going to take a team to victory over our team.
Personally I couldn’t have cared less what he did with his own damn property. I just cared that he screwed up and couldn’t help my favorite team win, but guess what folks; the Falcons are looking pretty damn good so get over it. IF Vick is in trouble again then all that means is he won’t be coming back to the Dome to run and throw touchdowns all over the team he made relevent in the first place.
Get a life folks. If you’re surprised by people and animals living in cruel environments you obviously live in the sheltered part of our society. This world is a crappy place and many crappy things happen in it. Jeff I hope all of your holier than thou living helps you when you die and nothing happens!!!!!!!

Okay, Vick served his time and is now employed and decided to have a birthday party. How can that be wrong? This Thug was not invited but showed up anyway probably cause he still wants something from VICK and it is not happening. The report says that VICK left before the confrontation got ugly. There is no one that can put VICK at the scene.

Knockahoma — wow, great post! Well said, my friend. It’s just AWFUL that some people come on a public blog and express their opinion isn’t it? And it’s TERRIBLE that some people have morals and values right? I mean we should be able to sleep around, do drugs, kill animals, etc. with no consequence right? I mean, I am assuming that’s what you mean when you say this: ” Jeff do you really have nothing better to do than to get upset that somenone isn’t living THEIR life up to your standards so you spend hours on blog trying to tell everyone else why they shouldn’t stick up for someone. People have different values dude, and nobody gives a damn how you compare others to yourself.”
You are right, people have different values. We should just put up with people who like to do crack, drive drunk, rape girls, murder dogs, rob houses, assault women, steal money and lie in court right? Of course… silly me for sticking up for traditional American morals and values. How very stupid of me. I am SO sheltered and I have NO idea what happens in the big world right?
Please. Knockahoma, you are just as bad as Vick… you obviously have no morals, no standards of behavior and no problem with what Vick did. People like you — who are SO AFRAID to hold people to a decent, respectable standard of behavior in today’s society — are EXACTLY what’s wrong with the world today.
May God have mercy on your soul, and the soul of Michael Vick… hopefully someday you will come to your senses and realize that holding people to a respectful standard of behavior is not “judging”, it’s how we maintain a civilized society.

Dawgz8466 — yeah, you’re right dude. It’s just us white people trying to keep the blacks down. Nevermind that the sports world was OUTRAGED when it learned of Big Ben’s sexual assault charges. Nevermind that TONS of people lost all respect for him when it became apparent he is a sexual deviant who preys on drunk college girls. Yeah, it’s alllllllllllllllllllllllll about race isn’t it?
You’re what causes race problems in society — always excusing somebody of color and saying that any criticism, even legitimate, is racially motivated.
Many of us despised Vick and his thug lifestyle while he was playing for the Falcons. We wished we could get rid of him and find another QB. And I know a LOT of people in Pittsburgh who think the same thing about Roethlisberger.
Race has nothing to do with it. The sooner some of you ditch your racial crutch and are willing to have some meaningful discussion about what is standard, acceptable behavior for ALL PEOPLE (black AND white), the sooner we can progress in discussions like this.
Anybody who dislikes Vick and his crew JUST for their color is an idiot. And anybody who dismisses criticism of Vick and defends him JUST for his color is ALSO AN IDIOT.

It’s called acceptable standards of expected behavior — take a sociology or psychology class sometime and learn about it.

And food for thought: those of you who say there is nothing wrong with being out at a club: I am sure the same girl who is charged with that DUI death in Atlanta this week at 4 a.m. felt there was “nothing wrong” with being out in the middle of the night and partying with her friends. How quickly we saw that bad choices can lead to terrible consequences.

I think some of you are so AFRAID of any kind of morals or standard of behavior because then you won’t have any way to excuse what you do…
By the way, Knockahoma, “my standards” are basically the Judeo-Christian standards on which most of the laws and codes of Western, civilized society is based upon… that’s it, pure and simple. If my “standards” are too much for you… wow, you must be a serious deviant.
All I expect is for people to follow the law of the land, be courteous to others and make responsible decisions. If we all did that, our world would be an amazing place.

Kudos to Vick for behaving like that aroudn your family…. now, if he did that 24-7 and lived every day of his life like that, he would be on the way to reform. Sadly, I think is thug roots run deep and it will be hard to break the cycle and not run with his hometown, gun-toting, dog-killing thugs again…

FalconMan — well said. I appreciate your civil tone and candid comments. My hope and prayer is that maybe Vick truly IS like you and your family saw him while on vacation… I just worry that he will always be tied to that bad lifestyle that got him into trouble. I think until he completely changes his circle of friends and REALLY works at becoming a better man at heart (out of the limelight), then he hasn’t completely changed.
By the way, those of you who think that “well, all pro athletes are just that way, it’s part of the lifestyle”… think again. There are SO many positive stories of athletes being more than just successful players on the field. Read about the inspirational story of Dave Dravecky or look at the many accomplishments of Alan Page or Jack Kemp AFTER football or the charity work of George Foreman or Joe Gibbs or Peyton Manning or Mike Singletary or A.C. Green or Kurt Warner or Dikembe Mutombo or Jeff Fisher or Tony Dungy…. there are SO MANY positive stories in sports and good role models to look up to… why ANYBODY would watch, support or defend a person like Michael Vick is beyond me.
Jeff
June 25th, 2010
8:25 pm
Knockahoma — I’m just trying to figure out why are you SO PASSIONATELY AGAINST people standing up for decent, moral behavior and wanting our athletes to be good, upstanding citizens… you seem to be bending over backwards to make sure that NOBODY holds ANYONE ELSE to a standard of acceptable behavior… the only reason I can think is that you and others want to excuse your own behavior, and therefore get offended when some of us express dismay at the behavior of people like Vick.
And Knockahoma, if everyday citizens DON’T act as a moral compass, then there IS no moral compass and society decays… that’s a fact of life that is supported by history. That’s why some of us stand up for decent, upstanding behavior… if we don’t hold people to that standard, things go downhill quickly.
Have a blessed night, my friend.

@Jeff. Dude, you’re the idiot. If you read my post carefully, you’d understand that I was talking about how disproportionate the public scorn goes when it comes to blacks versus whites who commit crimes. When OJ was found not guilty, whites were enraged and rightfully so. When Robert Blake was found not guilty, where’s the outrage???? Furthermore, if you can’t figure out by the comments that are being made that most of these people view only in race, then you’re ignorant. That whole thing about the “white people trying to keep the blacks down”, is your thought process and not mine. I don’t know what era you were born in and I don’t care, but I guess if that makes you feel good about black folks thinking that way, then by all means, keep thinking that.
I don’t make excuses for Vick and a lot of other folks don’t either, but to keep bitching about him and what he did is just plain stupid. There’s nothing meaningful about what is acceptable behavior when you’re dealing with close minded people who have already formed their opinion on a subject and the object of their scorn is being called every name in the book, both publicly, and behind closed doors.
Big Ben has been accused twice and there are reports that it might be more, but the first time he was accused, his treatment was different than that of Kobe Bryant.
As for the racial crutch B.S…. I never thought that way. If that was the problem, then I wouldn’t be the man that I am today and would have admitted that I was less than you. Never thought that way or felt that way because black or white, i’m neither greater than or less than. We are all equal.

Does that comment apply to Big Ben in Pittsburg as well. A lot of young African American males want to be athletes because that’s all they see. A lot of the successful doctors people see on TV or hear about are either white or some other minority but there aren’t many black doctors or lawyers or anybody outside of the entertainment sector that they see and can relate to. It’s easier to do something when you see somebody from your neighborhood, your background, have your experiences make something of themselves. Sadly, though, the only “Successful” men that are seen are in the sports and music and the others, they aren’t know by young African American Males because that’s not what’s portrayed to them.

The last time I checked there was nothing in Vick’s release saying he couldn’t have a Birthday Party and he was not there when the shooting happened. He can’t control other people and the guy that got shot maybe he wasn’t even invited and came and started trouble after Vick left. Leave Vick alone.

With due respect DOL, trouble ain’t following Vick around. It’s the company he chooses to keep. So he’s still hangin’ with one of his Bad Newz Kennelz Boyz, huh? It seems he hasn’t learned much from his experiences.
I like Mike Vick the football player. I think Mike Vick the dog-fighter/killer has paid his debt for his crimes. I think Mike Vick the product endorser died about three years ago. I’d like to think Mike the human being could put this s–t behind him and build a productive life for himself and his family.
It’s beginning to look like that’s not gonna happen. He’s either too damned stubborn or too damned dumb.
That’s a shame.

Track Dawg. Don’t know the terms of his felony. Is he allowed to be around Q? If an investigation turns up evidence that he was, or that he was around firearms, he very well might end up back in prison.
The Eagles also might very well dump him just because they do not want to be associated with him anymore. A big birthday bash is not exactly humble, and add to it where somebody gets shot. I think it is 50/50 he ever takes a snap.

10:34 am
To ALL of My Young African-American Brothers:
Let this be a lesson to you. Do not commit these petty crimes. You will be caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law (guilty or not). It has nothing to do with morals. You must understand that morals have nothing to do with the law.
I understand that the way that society is set up, many of you will be forced to break the law just to have a chance in this world. So if you are going to break it….break it big. Study Enron and WorldCom and Maddof and Bush (both)and BP and Oxendine and the careers and activities of hundreds of other successful criminal enterprises. If you can buy or spin enough credibility, or have good enough connections, you can commit any crime you want to. Punishment will be minimal because the unwashed masses will be busy looking at whatever sensationalist headline grabbing blurb that any hack with a computer keyboard can get on the web.

Some of you are not looking at this in the proper perspective. Vick is on parole. As part of his parole, he is suppose to stay out of these types of situations and stay away from people who are viewed as the criminal element. Is this fair? It’s not for me or you to say. It is the terms of his parole and if he can’t abide by it, his parole should be overturned and he should be sent back to prison to complete his sentence. I know if I were in prison and got a chance at parole, I would do whatever is necessary to make damn sure I never violate that parole. But that’s just me.

The NFL Commissioner and more impotantly The Feds are not going to end up with egg on their face AGAIN bc of Mike Vick. He is a high profile target and they will thoroughly investgate. This will include questioning Quannis Phillips who is also on federal probation. He may not answer to the local Newport News police, but I have a feeling he will certainly be truthful with The Feds. If and when it comes out that he was (or has been for all we know) associating with Vick again…Mike Vick’s second chance and his freedom and his career are gone.
If he slides through on this one – I give him 5 years tops in the NFL. He will blow it with some other dumb move. He won’t change – accept it.

The NFL and RG will not talk to MV until all the facts are in.
1) The party was by invite only.
2) MV and RW were all ready gone when the killing happened.
3) The person killed was not invited.
4) It appears (don’t know yet, because no one is talking) that someone at the party killed him
5) The person who did the shooting was an invite to the party (don’t know yet because no one is talking).
6) The local police are not implicating MV because he was not there.
7) The Feds probably will not talk to MV until the investigation is complete and all the facts are known.
When the facts come in EVERYONE will know what happened and then we can have this back & forth all over again.

http://www.dailypress.com/sports/michaelvick/dp-nws-vick-party-shooting-20100625,0,7967967.story
From the Newport News Daily Press
“The reports that say someone was shot at his party are not correct. The shooting occurred outside the place,” said Lawrence H. Woodward Jr., Michael Vick’s attorney. “Mike is not involved in any way. Michael left somewhere around 2 a.m.”
According to police, the shooting occurred at 2:10 a.m.
Roddy White, a receiver for the Atlanta Falcons, said he and Michael Vick were at the party, but not at the time of the shooting. Vick had picked him up at the airport earlier in the day for White to assist with Vick’s local football camp.
“We were already gone by the time that stuff started happening, so I don’t know what’s going to go on with that or whatever, but we didn’t have anything to do with it,” White said on Friday during a break in the youth football camp.
A fight broke out as the club was closing, and one man was shot in the leg, said Adam Bernstein, spokesman for Virginia Beach police. The shooter has not been identifed by police but the investigation is ongoing.”

It’s not my fault that you decided to become the Perez Hilton of the NFL, DOL. That was your choice by trying to drum up comments with reporting on the same kind of things as Perez Hilton instead of what is relevant on the field.
The fact that you deleted my earlier comment as such clearly is also something I would expect Perez Hilton to do. I can understand if you delete a comment because it is in some way offensive or vulgar, but to delete comments from people only because you can’t handle the honest criticism is extremely lame.

You know guys, there is a difference in behavior. I can accept that a person can make bad choices, even felonies and change. I can accept that felonies can be wrong, like in our original constitution. I fully appreciate and accept that people should be given second chances, even third and fourth chances depending on the severity of their actions.
However!
Vick and his buddies CHOSE to torture creatures in the most cruel and violent way, gleefully enjoying burning dogs alive while they yelped and screamed in agony until their deaths.
They CHOSE to hang them and beat them, and rape them for fun.
This is not a person making a bad decision, this is psychotic behavior, not a mistake. To do it one time, displays a sickness of personality that goes beyond the ‘hood’, or race or youthful misconduct.
This goes beyond trying to get rich quick, or being desperate enough to steal a loaf of bread to feed a family.
If you enjoy watching suffering, if you cause that suffering, you are sick and you will not change. Like a pedophile, you cannot “heal” that. You are sick.
I am not surprised that Vick is associated with trouble again, because he is a sick man and it was not a mistake, his Bad Newz Kennel was from a man whose brain is wired wrong.
He will not be okay and I don’t care how fast or how far he can throw a piece of leather. Those creatures just wanted to live their lives, and be included but instead they ran into Michael Vick and his friends and they were burned alive.
What a guy.

Bad idea for Vick to promote his own birthday party open to the public.
DOL is right about the possible repercussions Vick could face so this is in no way a nonstory.
Just being in the same room as Quanis Phillips could cost Vick his freedom and career per his probation tearms.
Brother Marcus who promoted the party on Twitter and Facebook said it was an open-invite birthday party so anyone with $30 in their pocket could get in and cause trouble.

D-Led — I apologize; I stand corrected about White not being at the club. (Was thinking about the original story about White being at Vick’s camp and flat missed the update when I posted).
All that said, it’s still a shame to see a few folks here or elsewhere trying to find a creative (and fabricated) way to assume Vick or White were responsible for something that occurred when they weren’t there.
I’ll never get over Macho Grande and some folks will never get over their dislike of a guy they don’t know (but might enjoy being around if they did).

DLED JOURNALISM IS TRASH…
FACTS:
Marcus Vick is a Party Promoter in the Virgina Beach area now…
Thats why the party was promoted on Facebook & Twitter..
The Party was at a Restaurant NOT a club…
The shooting occurred Outside the restaurant After the party was over..
Vick & Roddy were not present and Niether Are persons of interest to the police..
Everything else is Speculation..
DLED stop being a TMZ bogus blogger & have some self respect as a journalist..

Why limit it to only those facts? How about the fact that:
The person shot is on parole for the same crime that got MV convicted.
Michael Vick is also on Parole.
Being around other paroles, and firearms constitutes violation of parole.
Vick left 10 minutes before the shooting took place.
The NFL is investigating.
We do not know who the shooter is, or the motivation of the shooter.
Nobody is talking at this point, so there are probably a lot of other facts that are going to come up.
If you are going to report the facts, report all the facts.
If we are going to keep it to the facts, lets be sure to list all the facts.

I told you that only an idiot would not know the kind of negative responses and comments anything related to MVick would bring. This article, and the negative, often racially charged reactions and comments, prove you’re either a very slow learner, or you relish this kind of trash. EITHER WAY, IT’S A NEGATIVE REFLECTION ON YOU.

First of all get the facts before you make dumb statements. The party was not thrown by Vick, Roddy white, MV7 and several other football players, basketball players, track star and models were there it was at a restaurant not a night club it was not by invitation tickets were 50 and 35 over 350 people showed up Vick, White and their guess left in a limo before any of this happened. Vick had security and so did the restaurant this was the 3rd party that was given for Vick there this was the first one that was not a private party. Larry Bethea Indianapolis Colts said Vick had left same time he did and their was no fights or disturbance inside.it was a good party. Cameras outside showed Vick leaving the party with others well before the fight and shooting began. Vick had prior approval from PO to attend party. Police say Vick is no interest to them. He was not there. The question then becomes if the PO (probation officer) knew Vick was going to be there how does Phillips explain why he was there? I sure he did not have permission to be there. Vick has had over 20 parties thrown for him and there had not been any problems. As a matter fact he had one in ATL and one in Augusta. Phillips was not invited probably came to start trouble or beg these leeches think people owe them. It is all about jealousy and trying to live off someone else. So get the facts before you start popping off. Vick does need to leave that dead beat brother of his alone and stay out of Va too many people there that think he should take care of them. By the way the same people that hosted Vick party are hosting a party Sunday for another NFL player. I would not be surprised if Phillips was paid to start trouble

@Ken Strickland: So DOL is just supposed to ignore the fact that the most polarizing sports figure this town has ever seen….a man who is on federal probation and a very thin suspension string with the NFL….had a shooting at his birthday party and the victim is one of his co-defendants. Not to mention this person left his birthday party with one of the Falcon’s star players a mere ten minutes prior to the shooting (according to him) and nobody is talking. DOL would be derelict in his duties not to report on this. The comments that follow are what they are….reflecting a very much still polarized city…you can’t sweep it under the rug because it makes some people “uncomfortable”. On ESPN’s website it is still the fourth leading story under the NFL category….have you castigating them for running the story?

I am so sick of you all spouting your foolishness when it comes to Mike Vick. I bet some of you have some stuff in your closet that you would not want anyone to know about. The only reason you know about Vick is because he is in the spotlight.
What if people didn’t want to be bothered with you because you cheated on your spouse, you don’t pay child support, you don’t spend time with your children, you steal from your job, or do you have a bad habit of writing bad checks? I bet you wouldn’t want anyone clowning on you like you all have been doing Vick!!!
And please believe when YOU get to the pearly gates, he won’t be asking you about Vick, he will be asking you about your life and you dogging Vick won’t help you…so get over it!!! Be concerned about something that really matters like how they are chopping the budgets of our education system. Be concerned with how they are only teaching your children to take a test.
And who’s to say that the people that were shooting were actually AT his party? You all are so quick to jump to conclusions. You are no better than him…your mess has just been covered up better!!!
I don’t see you all jumping all over Ben you violated a HUMAN…but you vilify Vick about some dogs!!!

I’ve despised Vick for a long time as I’ve seen first hand the blood and screams that his little hobby causes. The Peninsula SPCA in Newport News has seen more than a few fight dog victims. Until you see that, you will never understand the horror of what he did.
Consider this about Vick
Did he ever attempt to go back to college and get his degree
Did he ever attempt to marry the mother of his illegitimate children.
Has he ever done any volunteering or community service outside of football?
You want to give him credit for running a youth football camp? I’m sure he makes money because of it? He shows up for a couple of hours, throws a couple passes to kids, signs a few balls and then heads to the club with his posse. I’m not impressed.

BWA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
So….I guess you didn’t want to find a federal prosecutor or criminal defense attorney that would actually tell you what a baseless story this is as far as Vick is concerned? You couldn’t talk to DeMaurice Smith or somebody from the NFLPA to tell you to READ the conduct policy and note that Vick didn’t actually violate it by being in a legal establishment for a legitimate purpose? So when Goodell actually releases a statement that nothing will be done…what incredible leap of logic will you take to pretend like Mike Vick got a pass?

Jeff,
I’m going to say this once. Going to a club and staying out until 2AM is not a sin nor a crime. Its his birthday. Let the man live a little. There are plenty of people who go get drunk every single night of the day in Athens and Atlanta on college campuses who will be productive leaders in our society, so to say that he is wrong and going out to celebrate his birthday in his own way is not only not fair but unreasonable. I’m sorry you don’t like to have fun and you go to bed at 10 pm every night.
And to say he’s not trying is also not true. How many instances do we have of him getting in trouble? He is doing his part to give back to the community. He doesn’t have to, nor does he have to give a rip about his image considering he gets paid to do one thing and that is to play football. He has paid his debt to society in that he has lived out his sentence in jail and is doing his time for his three year probation. All he has to do is live out in the full extent and no one can ask anymore of him. Period.
HOWEVER, you’re right in the fact that you are the company you keep. It would help to clean up the posse and find a better group of friends. Hanging out with a better caliber of athletes on a daily basis like Roddy and some of the other guys he plays with like Brian Westbrook and Macho Harris would do him some good.
I, too, would also like to see him become more of a man and continue to take steps to clean up his image, but to ask him to live like the he is the messiah is just unthinkable, because the average citizen can’t even do that. As far as it is concerned right now, and this could obviously change as the shooting is further investigated, he’s just a guy that was in the wrong place at the wrong time – this time at least.

It was not MISTAKE and this is NOT a black verses white issue. Vick was involved in a 6-year criminal enterprise to make money, gamble and torture helpless animals for fun and profit.
He is a CRIMINAL who happens to play football. He got off only because he is RICH! This was not a onetime incident like a DUI or even drugs. He liked playing the gangster roll and gambling with the other criminals. Being an ex-convict and professional gambler doesn’t make him a role model. One day the money will dry up and he will be finished!
Vick should have been banned for life from the NFL!
Playing in the NFL is a privilege, not a right! Same for Big Ben!

WHEW!!!! Reading through the first page of this thread and my head is already pounding! I must say that I’m both sad and frustrated to hear that M. Vick is associated with trouble again, especially trouble of this caliber. At some point you just have to grow up! You have a beautiful family with a woman that has been by your side and you still choose to make DUMB A$$ decisions!!! So you gets no sympathy from me! Be a MAN, cut the cable-tow, and free yourself of the loosers giving you the confidence to make these dumb decision. I can’t image your “lady” agreeing to you throwing late parties. So someone else must be influencing and guiding you. If you must throw a party end it at 11pm and take your a$$ to bed!! You know you’re already walking a tight rope so why are you still partying at 2am? You’re not like the average citizen so NO you CAN’T throw parties or attend clubs like normal people do so let that part of your life go! The one thing I think everyone will agree on is that ATHLETES and CLUBS / PARTIES DON’T MIX!!! As a 40 year old male of nubian descent I for the life of me don’t get the fascination that ATHLETES have with clubs and parties. At some point it just GETS OLD!!! I’m not going to get on my “high-horse” and start casting stones at the man, like some of the people here, because in my opinion he’s subject to make mistakes, but not at this level.
In regards to the dog killing incident that most of the people here are still clinging to, I say CRAP!!! It’s a KNOWN fact that people have been fighting and killing dogs in the country for YEARS looong before M. Vick and that in “normal” cases most are treated as misdemenors. Rarely will anyone get any serious jail time. Vick just happened to be the scapegoat needed by the ASPCA to promote their cause and what have they done since to change the laws NOTHING!!! DOGS ARE STILL BEING BRED TO FIGHT and THEY’RE STILL BEING KILLED!!! If anything he’s an example of what happens when you’re ignorant of your options and improperly represented which comes from not having the right attorneys on your side. My guess is that most of his attorneys were dog lovers. Couple that with the direction he was heading in and the number of fans he had already pissed off he was dead man walking. The hypocrisy in all of this is that he went to a state, Philly, which has the highest rate for animal cruelty. So when I hear people using the dog incident as a reason to hate on the guy I wanna scream “SHUT THE F__K UP YOU IGNORANT F___K!!! There’s a reason dog killing hasn’t been outlawed because it’s a revenue generating sport. So until the laws change it will continue to exist as an underground sport and dogs will continue to be killed in the same henious manner so take your hypocrisy and direct it somewhere else!!!
The flip side of the hypocrisy comes from the other side of race card where Ben Rosth…. can be accused of assaulting women on more than one occassion and not get any serious jail time. I think we all know that had I, a male of nubian descent, been in the same “area” when a women, let alone a caucasin woman, screamed she was assaulted I’d be thrown under the jail. Yet I don’t see the same amount of hate being thrown in Ben’s direction. The NFL don’t seem to see this as a serious issue, neither do most of the people in this country. Odd that I haven’t seen not ONE women’s right group step up to go after Ben the way ASPCA went after Vick!! You would think with this being his second incident that this issue would be plastered all over the news. He should easily be seen as a predator and should therefore be paying way more out of pocket that Vick to these groups. I don’t see any women standing outside of the courts holding signs crying for this predator to be put away. Doesn’t matter that he wasn’t convicted because this is what happens when you have good lawyers on your side. The fact is that a pattern has developed and I’m willing to be that this will NOT be the last time it happens.

Shocked — Sorry about that. That was in bad taste.
*************************************************************************
I know you are saying it was in bad taste because you are trying to be politically correct, well, not piss off the large contingent of Vick fans who feel he was unjustly targeted because of the color of his skin. Great play on words using Vick’s Bad Newz Kennels name. But you stated more than once that trouble just seems to follow him and I don’t think that is accurate at all. He is trouble. Once again Vick has proven his stupidity, still associating with former friends who are now convicted felons (like him) which I would not be surprised if that isn’t a violation of Vicks probation. http://tinyurl.com/262bust
***Note to Roddy*** Guilt by association isn’t something you should take lightly. When your phone rings it may be Roger Goodell wanting to know why you were there. Loyalty is commendable but yours is blind loyalty, chancing the turn of events in your life to others who have proven again and again that they are ignorant and unable to factor in how there actions could impact you. With Vick you’ll figure it out eventually but hopefully on your own terms and not terms dictated by Goodell or a court of law or a stray bullet. Good Luck RW, catch a bunch of damn TD passes this year!!!

Amazing the lack of logic of some of these posters. By their asanine reasoning, if Mike Vick was walking in the mall and one of the co-defendants was there, Vick is violating his probation. Fools. Do you not understand the most basic of legalese? Being in the same public venue is not considered ‘associating” with the other co-defendants. Now these same nitwits won’t to condemn the man for being at a birthday party in a club…because ya know…all those “coloreds” were there so that makes it an unsavory place…………please….these CACs would be still bashing Vick if he was at Mt Moriah Baptist because they’d say he was around some more “unsavory” characters…i.e. black. Why the one black reporter covering the NFL at the AJC wants to be a co-conspirator with these klansman is beyond me, guess he hates the man in the mirror. Some of you all get it. Federal probation is nothing to mess with. If it wasn’t a big deal then the league would have said so. Waiting for Roddy to call. If he wasn’t there, we wouldn’t have to worry about this. I’m sure that NFL security is going to want to talk to White about the facts. So that’s why we are updating it. The Falcons two-time Pro Bowl was at the party and will likely have to talk to NFL security.

And of course the NFL made that generic statement…they do that about ANY media report…including the one about the DUI of the Lions president or the accident of Chad Jones…that is STANDARD. In fact, it was one of their generic statements..they didn’t even bother adding in Vick’s name to it. LOL

Over a craps game, he got into a brawl with not one, but ALL of the co-defendants from his previous case. I don’t care about the Vick stuff, party, or any of that stuff. I have a feeling Roger Goodell will pick on what I did, the man shot and invited to the party was one of Vick’s dog fighting partners, and that is a big no no. Goodell said publicly that Vick had to show that he had left that part of his life behind, but here he has the same element around him. I think the court is also going to hone in on the same fact, that he is with a convicted felon again (invitee to the party). I said at the beginning of the process, that a new incident would arise, that what we saw was a facade. For Vick’s sake and his family, he needs help to overcome his environment and the bad elements in his life. This proves that he still has that problem.

He knows what he knows and he feel comfortable around a LOW class of people who think they need a gun at a Birthday Party. Drinking, Bimbos, Guns, and NWAs just add up to trouble. When we were young my friends and I would get drunk and high too. Just because we all had guns or were at the Hunting Camp, I don’t know a single person that was shot. This really isn’t that hard to figure out. Vick had a Bday party at a restaurant, His Co-Defendant/Snitch showed up. Vick and other people asked him to Leave. He caused a scene and after he was finally leaving the premises someone put a “hot one” in his leg. Now for anyone who is familiar with “Hood rules” you understand what happened without any complications. The worst thing to be labeled in “Urban culture” is a “snitch”. It’s Hood Leprosy and you are a Pariah for your remaining days on earth. The Co-Defendant knows this and my guess for him having the audacity to show up at Vick’s party is because he’s hurting for money and there are no Jobs available because of his Felony record, no more leeching off of Vick and his money and finally because of his Snitching label, nowhere else to turn. His showing up at Vick’s Bday was an act of desperation and basically a Death wish. No way was it Vick behind it because he is on his last chance and has too much to lose. There were alot of people who Love and cherish Vick at that party and it’s real simple to guess that one of them took it upon them selves to rid Vick of this troublesome person. Dude is lucky to be alive….
By the way…. the Word “Posse” stopped being used to describe a Black man’s group of Friends sometime in the summer of 1994…..

All of the professional sports are full of people who feel entitled to do anything they want. They are entitled! They kill dogs, they rape, they shoot people, they drive drunk and kill people and they do not do the time that the average person would do or no charges are ever filed. The bad part is that these thugs (that’s what they are) are supported with adoration by those average people. Wake up people! These rich, spoiled thugs need to be scorned. I will not support them and I certainly won’t send my children to a camp. It doesn’t matter what race, how big a star or how much money they make…stop supporting their behavior.

This is really sad that everyone keeps perpetuating this kind of argument. It is wrong that media keeps sensationalizing it also. No disrespect D.O.L., I know you have to feed the family so you push the buttons “the man” says push. This isn’t a racial argument to me because Big Ben and Matt Jones are idiots also and are no better on the maturity and decision making level than Mike Vick. Meanwhile black athletes like Warrick Dunn are better than the best of men and his life has been alot more difficult than Mike Vick’s. We keep writing about these people everyday though. Once every 3 years we get a brief summary of Warrick Dunn or Kurt Warner and how these real life role models for our children overcame life’s obstacles and are giving back through the goodness of their heart, not by court order. Of course they have to be in the SuperBowl for that positive report to even happen. No blogs, no public kudos, just a time to go to the restroom before the game. In the paper, no one would read it. It is really sad to witness what is happening on TV and Print. What kind of stories and shows are important to us. OK people sorry for the brief interruption get back to your ignorance…. Mike Vick should be inducted into the “HOOD RATS HALL OF FAME”. Vick is probably the dumbest individual whose ever lived on the planet. Vick couldnt wait to get to Levenworth Prison so that he could get “THREE FREE SQUARE MEALS A DAY”. Vick comes out of prison, gets a second chance by Roger Goddell and the NFL and Vick promptly blows it by messing up again, allowing a shooting to take place at his party. This time, the NFL should give Vick a lifetime suspension with no chance to ever return again.

No knock on Vick’s personal life, but my advice to RODDY WHITE is don’t hang out with Michael Vick at parties or clubs or any other place serving alcoholic beverages.
After all the turmoil Vick been through and considering he’s trying to make a come-back in the NFL, he should have chosen a better path in life than THE NIGHT LIFE!!!
It’s admirable for professional atheletes to give YOUTH’S CAMP to teach young boys and girls how to train for sports. But it’s even more important for these same professional atheletes to demonstrate self-discipline in everyday life choices..
I pray that Michael Vick and other atheletes will find better things to do with their life outside the game of sports.

There wasn’t a shooting at Vick’s party, because the shooting was outdoors, the party was indoors and over when the shots were fired.
Unless vick was holding a birthday party outside on public property the headline is incorrect.

Vick Supporters keep bringing up the names Rapistburger (Ben Rothlisberger) and Matt Ryan because they think its a race thing with Vick. Race has nothing to do with it. Ben Rothlisberger is just as big a punk as Vick. The only problem is that Rothisberger had his enterage covered up his rapes and so far Ben has gotten away with them. If Ben doesnt change, however, Ben will eventualy get convicted of rape and will do prison time eventually. I dont feel that Ben is treated any better than Vick. Vick got caught by the law but so far Ben has escaped legal consequences. I think Ben will get into serious trouble and his career will get ruined if he continues to take advantage of women and continue with his outrageous behavior. As far as Vick is concerned, Vick is beyond help at this point and it appears Vicks life is spiraling downhill and when he lands in the gutter Vick will suffer more serious consequences.

Anyone remember when the 2 live blowhards were on the air bragging about how nothing was going to happen to Vick and the dogs were all calling in saying the same thing? Right in the middle of discussing the Vick barbecue they were going to have outside the station that a caller had suggested a special news report broke in to to say Vick had been indicted. Classic. I also liked their pronunciation of US open golf winner Geoff Olgivy as Gee-Off.

@ Pi$$onaDawg ,
You are a complete idiot. The same guy who calls people low life for having a gun on them at a birthday part probably is a NRA/gun rights supporter. Its ok for your kind to carry guns in resturants, airports and bar-b-ques, but dont let a brotha carry a gun to a birthday party. Oh he’s a thug because he has a gun..blah..blah…blah…BullSh.t. Where you at the party? No, then how the he.ll you know what kind of people were there. Its the same old prejudice bull from your kind. I bet there wasn’t a peep out of you when the ex-vice president shot some guy during his hunting expedition. Yeah, a group of Whitemen get together with guns and nothing happen. Hah, that’s laughable bull. In reality, you’re just a punk who talk crap online.
Oh, and Jesus forgave the harlots, gamblers and murders; just as we should forgive others. This is a lession some of you should learn. We are all humans and we sometimes do not make the best decisions and life, but that does not mean we cannot or will never find redemption. My point about jesus was not to judge…you or none of us are in a position to judge anyone. Jesus see the best in all of us. people like you only see the worst. You should listen to Marvin Sapps song “The Best in Me”. If Roddy id a friend of Vick, then cool. He must be a good friend because he stood by Vick when he was down. Roddy deserves bashing because he cant seem to shake himself free of Vick. In fact, Roddy wanted freedom so badly for Vick that he wore “Free Mike Vick t-shirts” at a falcon game he was playing in. Roddy should realize the fact that birds of a feather flock together. Vick was the dirtiest bird of all the dirty birds, yet Roddy looks up to Vick and thinks Vick is King of the World somehow. Roody needs to pick and choose his friends wisely and I suggest he drop Vick like some of the dropped passes Roddy had early in his career. Roddy will have to learn the hard way if he cant extricate himself from Vick.

Hey Vick Supporter….if you want Vick or anyone else for that matter, he’s a 2nd string QB (well for now he has a job) in Philly. Need a plane ticket? The problem is Vick can put up a few highlight reel plays but inconsistant with his abilities. He may run for a TD on one drive and fumble the ball on the next with no one around and lose the game. What was his record in Atlanta his last two seasons? That’s the kind of consistancy you don’t want from your QB. No longer have to worry about that in Atlanta now do we.

Ben Rothisburger’s situation is nothing like Vicks situation. Ben’s was similar Kobe Bryant’s situation. They had sex with girls who said no, paid them off, and walked free.
Nobody called either of them thugs, because they did not fit the defination of a thug, they are rapists, and both were treated the same.
Thugs and Rapist are two different things. Thugs do not rape girls, they just knock them up and move on, or they give them STD.

Vick doesnt have to avoid being in a public venue for a legitimate purpose, and if the AJC had bothered to ask a federal probation officer, a criminal defense attorney or even a freaking paralegal, just maybe Ledbetter could have added that little bit of FACT..but the purpose of this blog is not to inform, but to inflame with inaccurate information and innuendo.

Jay, reading comprehension is not exactly done on these blogs. In some of the comments, people have claimed Vick had a gun, he was the shooter, he picked up Phillips, they were hanging out, everybody in the place had a gun, marcus was the shooter, etc.
guess what facts they actually know but are too stupid to realize:
Vick was at a party in his honor
Vick left with Roddy White
Quanis Phillips was shot outside of the building
The end….those are all the actual facts that have been ascertained and disseminated to the public about the events of that night. Everything else is conjecture, and heresay from unidentified witnesses or in some cases, just made up by the person writing.

The point is that Vick does not deserve to play in the NFL. He is a convicted felon and shame on the NFL for letting convicted felons play. People in the real world can’t find a job after a felony conviction much less go back to a million dollar job. The difference between Vick and Ben is that Ben has not been charged and convicted. It remains to be seen if Ben will count his lucky stars and change his behavior. If not…he can head to jail and out of the NFL and he can take Vick with him.

VICK DID LET THAT GUY INTO THE PARTY. THE MAN CRASHED THE PARTY!!!
A former dogfighting pal of Michael Vick was shot moments after crashing the NFL quarterback’s birthday bash and angrily flinging cake in his face, witnesses told The Post yesterday. Quanis Phillips, a co-defendant in Vick’s dogfighting case, flew into a rage when Vick and brother Marcus Vick told him early Friday to leave the 30th-birthday party at a Virginia Beach nightclub, witnesses said.
Vick is barred from associating with Phillips under his parole agreement. Phillips’ brother was at the bash, too, and seemed to be an invited guest, mingling easily with other partygoers. But once Vick and his brother spotted Quanis Phillips, they told him to get lost, witnesses said.
Before leaving, Phillips slapped a piece of birthday cake off a female partygoer’s plate, splattering the face of the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback with frosting. “Michael didn’t react. I was surprised,” a witness at the bash said. “But Marcus was the one who reacted. He had this I-can’t-believe-this-just-happened, we’ve-been-disrespected look on his face. He was very agitated.” Phillips left the party screaming and continued hurling obscenities from the parking lot of the Guadalajara nightclub, witnesses said.
“Phillips was still yelling, even outside, then five minutes later, a shot rang out in the parking lot,” a witness outside the club said. A Virginia Beach police spokesman said last night that the probe into the shooting was continuing and that no one had been arrested. Phillips, who was sentenced to 21 months in prison for his role in Vick’s infamous Bad News Kennels dogfighting operation, was treated at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital before being released.

He is a convicted felon and shame on the NFL for letting convicted felons play. People in the real world can’t find a job after a felony conviction much less go back to a million dollar job.”
So, because as you say, “people in the real world” can’t go back to a million dollar job, the NFL shouldn’t allow him to come back? LMAO, idiots are everywhere. It’s up the the employer whether to hire a felon or not, and regardless of what some employers choose to do, the NFL gave him the opportunity, and you guys should stop whining. It’s not like he sexually abused a child and he’s now trying to become a babysitter, or school teacher. According to you guys, a human cannot repent/reform. Vick should be thrown into a steel cage of starving, hungry lions who hadnt eaten in months. Considering how many times Vick, Purnell Peace, Quantun Phillips (guy who was shot at Vicks party and also Vicks co-defendant) have MURDERED, KILLED, drowned, electrocuted and mutilated dogs in the past, I think this would be cruel but just punishment for this animal of a man called MIKE VICK.

So sad that Vick was over 12 miles away when shots fired yet he is still looked at as having something to do with it because he had a birthday party and someone got shot after he left. Oh and by the was Q was pissed because he got kicked out of the restaurant,( which doubles as a club on the weekend) on his way to the deck he was still poppin off at the mouth b/c he was embarrassed and said the wrong thing to some street nigg and almost got his wig pushed back if he didn’t run. I hope Roger Goddell does the right thing about the MV7 situation and goes ahead and suspends Mike Vick for the remainder of his career. VICK IS A SAVAGE BEAST AND DOES NOT DESERVE TO PLAY IN THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE. Vick could care less about honoring the integrity of the league and doesnt deserve a third chance. Its one thing when someone continually violates the law and is completely lawless and has no conscience whatsoever but to make his party open to the public shows incredibly bad judgment considering how many lunatics are running loose out there. Its no wonder there was a shooting at the Vick party because NO ONE WAS SCREENED TO GET IN. Anybody off the street could have walked in so long as they coughed up $50.00.

Theory #1: Vick was present but was out of sight in the basement fighting dogs as he usually does. Theory #2: Vick left early to fight dogs at a neutral site. Theory #3: Vick threw the party as a smokescreen to cover up him fighting dogs that evening. No matter how you slice it, Vicks dogfighting operations havent ceased despite him going to prison.

White had better be careful of his involvement with Mike Vick. So far White HAS BEEN Right and has stayed on the straight and narrow. If White continues his association with Vick, HOWEVER, (and who and I to tell people who they should hang out with), then WHITE WILL SOON TURN RED, as white will get punished for embarrasing the league. You have to understand, there is single person bigger than the NFL. Not Goddell. Not Vick. Not anyone. Vick thinks he is Gods gift to the universe and will drag anyone into the mud with him if he can. Therefore, White should stay clear of Vick unless White wants to end up in the same cell block with Vick when Vick eventually, inevitably and with absolute certainty gets incarcerated again and again.

A blogger wrote yesterday, and I agree with him 100% that Mike Vick is a walking sespool. Its true. Roddy White was squeaky clean just a couple weeks ago. Now white is in danger of losing his status in the nfl with a possible nfl suspension coming up for Roddy, if it turns out that Roddy and Vick were involved in the shooting. For all we know, Mike Vick might have pulled the trigger on Quantis Phillips. Thats what you get when you hang out with Mike Vick. Vick drags everyone around him straight into the dirt.

Let;s be honest fan of Vick or hater of Vick…you can not in Virginia Beach have a birthday party put together by Marcus Vick…You know who is going to be attracted to the party invited or not..If you value your job or freedom you have to know better..people are saying views are falling on racial lines .(race out of the picture)..I am black– this was dumb and sadley I really do not think Vick knows any better. Vick will get a year suspension and his career is done and sadley once again the company he keeps will be a major downfall again for Mike, but he is a grown man and has to make better decisions…football was actually what kept Mike in check I bet some what..what will he be without it.You lose your right to parties (with certain people) when you are a convicted felon and if you do not like it you will be out of the NFL and back in prison…when you smoke weed on probation,,kill animals,,lie to the feds ..your team owner..the commish..Tony Dungy by drinking in public @ the airport..flipping of fans..letting your felony cousin be in charge of your home while you are away and lets not forget he was charged with interstate gambling which is a crime to get you banned in the NFL and he was allowed back.. and he still associates with people who are likely to land him in trouble..If he gets banned ..he has no one to blame ,but himself,,if you think Vick is getting a raw deal..say it out loud all the things he has done as a NFL player that has gotten him in trouble..I have and it is hard to support him

A lot of white people hate to see a black man with money and talent who doesn’t surround himself around whites or in whites world where they’ll get that money back from him in one way or another. If he were white he most likely would have gotten a heads up to got rid of the dog operation before the man came down on him but he wasn’t as fortunate as Ben Rapistberger to have a state trooper amongst his entourage. Eagles release statement on Vick

The Philadelphia Eagles released the following statement in the wake of the Associated Press report they were considering the release of Micael Vick:
Under normal circumstances, we would not issue a public statement regarding a matter still under investigation. However, due to the intense speculation that exists, we believe it is important to make a statement this afternoon regarding Michael Vick.
“Following the incident that occurred in Virginia on the morning of June 25, Michael and his representatives promptly contacted law enforcement agencies, the Philadelphia Eagles and the National Football League. The Eagles were provided with very detailed information during that discussion as to what took place at the event. Those details have not changed in any way over the course of the last week. Our investigation to this point has confirmed and has been consistent with the information that was originally communicated to us.
Furthermore, any report or speculation that suggests the Eagles are considering releasing Vick are not true. We will continue to gather information and monitor the situation and we will not have any further comment until that process is complete.

When attending mike vicks planned events this weekend, dog owners of pit bulls be sure to bring your dogs to celebrate this past heroic dogfighting champion Mike Vick, breeder of killer pit bulls from Bad News Kennels. PETA members are encouraged not to attend vicks ceremonies. When the curtain goes up with vick, turn your dogs loose on vick and give him a chance to get acquainted with some of the more feroucious pit bulls in the area.
