Vick probably enjoys life, and the freedom he has earned. 52 Friday and Saturday nights a year, lets say he only goes to a bar on 1 of those nights and only goes maybe 2 times a month, that would mean 26 nights a year he is at a bar, he has been out of prison how long? The public is not and will not cut ANY of these dirtbag thug entitled criminal athletes ANY SLACK anymore because we’re just sick and tired of it. I don’t care if it’s Vick, Rothlisberger, Burris, Tiger Woods, Gilbert Arenas, Milton Bradley, etc., we as fans and decent, honest citizens are TIRED OF THIS CRAP.

You said you were mad at him “3 years ago”… what on earth has changed in your mind? Vick still makes stupid comments, stupid decisions, keeps all these hanger-ons and wanna-bes and thugs around him, and apparently hasn’t learned very much. The only reason he does ANY charity work or camps or anything is because the NFL makes him as part of his “image rehab”… but I don’t think he’s changed a bit and I don’t think he’d do a thing different if he could go back in time… other than not get caught.

Some of us who were not blinded by the “OMG Vick is an awesome QB and he’s ‘representin’ the black community!” while he was with the Falcons saw many, many warning signs of his immaturity…. lack of commitment in the offseason, the water-bottle-pot incident, flipping off fans at the Dome, saying he quit in the last game of the season, etc. We were sick of him when he was still a Falcon… why should we let up now that he’s on another team.

Michael Vick is a felon, a thug, an idiot and an overpaid punk who deserves no sympathy, second chances or forgiveness. Any of us who are not millionaires would NEVER have gotten the breaks he has — we’d never get a second chance at our career nor a short prison sentence in a plush facility. We’d have gotten 5 to 7 years hard time, from what I hear from attorneys who know the law.

Quit making excuses and taking up for ol’ No. 7. He’s a big boy and can deal with his own crap. Everything that has happened to him is because he makes STUPID DECISIONS. One of these days these decisions might get him or somebody else killed.

Vick needs to crawl back under the rock from whence he came and stay there. Until he makes some LEGITIMATE contributions to society and REALLY changes his life and tries to make up for what he’s done, I just as soon never read about him in the paper ever again.

And Southside, I am not on a “high horse”… I just don’t agree with your statement of “Vick is trying.” Nope, he’s doing what he can to try to save his image and get some endorsements. Left up to his own, he’d be back running with the troublemakers who he calls friends. This is not being judgemental, this is stating facts — Vick is a felon dog-killer who is a scumbag and does not deserve support from ANYBODY except his mother and family, who have to love people like that. The rest of our society should wash our hands of Vick and never speak of him again.

Jeff – I am with you man. I think anyone who does prison time for anything should be sentenced to death! That would certainly make the world a much better place. If you commit a crime, there is no way you can be rehabilitated and a contributing member of society, you are simply trash! Lets overthrow the court systems, and the constitution itself and start a movement to sentence all those that commit crimes to death! Then you could live in your utopian society where everyone goes to your church, and believes in all that you do.

Besides, if I was a convicted felon who had an image problem and knew that I could get in more trouble by associating with bad people or having a bad incident happen around me…. you’re darn right I would be home by midnight! I have been waiting a long time to say this.
I loved Vick. I thought he was going to be a great QB for the Falcons but when the story first broke about the Dogs he pulled the wasn’t me card. That old thing where if i deny it maybe i will get away with it.

If he had just taken responsibility for his actions made a donation to the ASPCA for a couple or 3 mill he would have never done time nor would he have been suspended from the NFL

And i understand what you said about going out, having a party, etc. etc… but here is the difference — you are an average Joe that nobody knows and nobody cares what you do. Vick is a national celebrity who is a convicted felon, SO HE HAS NO BUSINESS BEING OUT CLUBBIN’ AT 2 A.M.!!!!! You seem to be able to separate Vick the QB from Vick the man… but sorry, i put them together. You are who you are… and every facet of your life makes up who you are. And honestly, I think you give him too much credit… he was never an elite NFL quarterback, just a lightning-fast guy with great athletic skills. He was not considered a warrior, a great leader, a clutch guy… just a good athlete.

My point to you, respectfully, is this: if people want to go out to a party or a club at 2 a.m., by all means, they can do that…. but if you’re a convicted felon and the eyes of the world are on you, waiting for a mistake, why put yourself in that situation??? That shows bad judgement on Vick’s part, and it’s simply part of a pattern of behavior… in other words, he never seems to learn his lesson.

Until Vick can make better decisions, hang out with better people, and make some LEGITIMATE, REAL, NON-POSTURING improvments in his life (i.e., real change and not just something to fix his image), then I think he is doomed to make stupid decisions over and over… and one of these days it might come back to bite him in the rear.

Furthermore (sorry I tried to get off the box but just could not), I like the man because he played his heart out on TV, yea he made millions doing it, but I PAID to watch him, and I would pay to watch him again. It was not that he was a great player…..no not at all, plenty of those out there. It was that one series in the playoffs, I think it was against Green Bay, or Minnesota…..it was snowing and the Falcons were losing, Vick took the team on his back and drove the team down to a touchdown on his own. He played with heart, he put it all on the field….he loves the game, he didn’t do that for money, he didn’t earn anymore or less…..that was a man fighting for what he believes in, what he loves Football. If we could have that drive in every Marine, the world would be a much safer place.

Vick Fan — I agree with what you said about that drive and determination in every Marine… yes, that would be amazing. And kudos to you for your military service — my hats off to people like you for those sacrifices.

But again, I still think you give Vick too much credit as a football player… yes he made some amazing plays, but every one of those could also be credited to his teammates for making a great block, a great catch, etc. He never “single-handedly” won ANY football games — football is a team sport and it takes all 53 guys, not just one. If it took just one guy, then the best players in the league — Manning, Brady, Peterson, etc. — would have 15 Super Bowls each. What it takes is a team effort.

Yes Vick had some great highlights, but he can’t be credited with winning things by himself.

Jeff, It’s not that he hasn’t learned to get rid of those thugs that were in his life before, it’s that he enjoys their company and has no plans to change friends.
He really tried to be like Michael Jordan or Jesse Tuggle while in Atlanta, it’s wasn’t in his character then and never will be. Those guys are good, he is not.

Jeff you get the award for taking over the post and making yourself believe that everyone cares what you have to say. Why don’t you just shut it dude?

For some reason this newspaper’s sports section has an infatuation for the former quarterback of our NFL franchise who, while being incredibally electric on the field, didn’t do anything more than bring this franchise the belief that it could win big every year. He almost squashed that same sentiment single-handedly.

However, whenever something about Vick comes up people like Jeff who just can’t get over how much they dislike others can’t shut up. Jeff do you really have nothing better to do than to get upset that somenone isn’t living THEIR life up to your standards so you spend hours on blog trying to tell everyone else why they shouldn’t stick up for someone. People have different values dude, and nobody gives a damn how you compare others to yourself.

By the way, why does anyone here give a damn about what Vick is doing. He got in trouble when he was a Falcon qb three damn years ago. He’s not the Falcon’s qb any longer. The only reason anyone in the ATL should be talking about Vick is if he is going to take a team to victory over our team.

Personally I couldn’t have cared less what he did with his own damn property. I just cared that he screwed up and couldn’t help my favorite team win, but guess what folks; the Falcons are looking pretty damn good so get over it. IF Vick is in trouble again then all that means is he won’t be coming back to the Dome to run and throw touchdowns all over the team he made relevent in the first place.

Get a life folks. If you’re surprised by people and animals living in cruel environments you obviously live in the sheltered part of our society. VickFan- we spent at least 3 hours by the pool and we just spoke about kids, NHRA drag racing, compared cellphones and just “hungout” etc. My wife used to hate him, as we have an American Bulldog and 3 cats. After our time with them she changed her mind completely and thought he was okay as well. Some people do learn from their mistakes, and it was not my place nor my families to place judgement on him.

Jeff, your post in response to my former post has brightened my day. I can just see your ruddy face and the smoke rising from your keyboard and coming out of your ears. Exactly the response I was expecting. All I have to say to you dude is you wouldn’t spend your life so pissed off if you wouldn’t spend so much of it trying to make others believe that living to your standards is the only way.

However, it does bring me solice knowing that you will spend so much time here trying to reform others to be what you deem civilized, and yet you will still most likely go to bed pissed off at the world. Nobody cares man, we’re all just having fun with you at this point.

Jeff I haven’t once defended Vick in my posts. Since he isn’t the QB of my team I couldn’t care less what he gets himself into. You don’t know me fram Adam and just because I opposed your view you assume that I’m some sort of deviant. By all means Jeff knock yourself out trying to be everyone’s moral compass.

I’m over it. Vick messed up and couldn’t be my favorite team’s qb anymore. I don’t have the desire to sit here and care how others live their lives. Just don’t get involved with mine and I won’t get involved in yours.

Knockahoma — I’m just trying to figure out why are you SO PASSIONATELY AGAINST people standing up for decent, moral behavior and wanting our athletes to be good, upstanding citizens… you seem to be bending over backwards to make sure that NOBODY holds ANYONE ELSE to a standard of acceptable behavior… the only reason I can think is that you and others want to excuse your own behavior, and therefore get offended when some of us express dismay at the behavior of people like Vick.

And Knockahoma, if everyday citizens DON’T act as a moral compass, then there IS no moral compass and society decays… that’s a fact of life that is supported by history. If you read my post carefully, you’d understand that I was talking about how disproportionate the public scorn goes when it comes to blacks versus whites who commit crimes. When OJ was found not guilty, whites were enraged and rightfully so. When Robert Blake was found not guilty, where’s the outrage???? Furthermore, if you can’t figure out by the comments that are being made that most of these people view only in race, then you’re ignorant. That whole thing about the “white people trying to keep the blacks down”, is your thought process and not mine. Big Ben has been accused twice and there are reports that it might be more, but the first time he was accused, his treatment was different than that of Kobe Bryant.

Track Dawg. Don’t know the terms of his felony. Is he allowed to be around Q? If an investigation turns up evidence that he was, or that he was around firearms, he very well might end up back in prison.

The Eagles also might very well dump him just because they do not want to be associated with him anymore. A big birthday bash is not exactly humble, and add to it where somebody gets shot. I think it is 50/50 he ever takes a snap.

The police have not interest in talking to VIck, but I did not see where the investigation into the shooting is over. I see nobody is talking, so there are still a lot of unanswered questions. .That could very well change.

Track, we agree on something. Having a party is fine, but it should have been private, invitation only, with security keeping uninvited guests out. Whoever suggested the idea that he have an open public party is not very bright.

Some of you are not looking at this in the proper perspective. Vick is on parole. As part of his parole, he is suppose to stay out of these types of situations and stay away from people who are viewed as the criminal element. Is this fair? It’s not for me or you to say. It is the terms of his parole and if he can’t abide by it, his parole should be overturned and he should be sent back to prison to complete his sentence. I know if I were in prison and got a chance at parole, I would do whatever is necessary to make damn sure I never violate that parole. But that’s just me.

“The reports that say someone was shot at his party are not correct. The shooting occurred outside the place,” said Lawrence H. Woodward Jr., Michael Vick’s attorney. “Mike is not involved in any way. Michael left somewhere around 2 a.m.”

According to police, the shooting occurred at 2:10 a.m.

Roddy White, a receiver for the Atlanta Falcons, said he and Michael Vick were at the party, but not at the time of the shooting. Vick had picked him up at the airport earlier in the day for White to assist with Vick’s local football camp.

“We were already gone by the time that stuff started happening, so I don’t know what’s going to go on with that or whatever, but we didn’t have anything to do with it,” White said on Friday during a break in the youth football camp.

A fight broke out as the club was closing, and one man was shot in the leg, said Adam Bernstein, spokesman for Virginia Beach police. The shooter has not been identifed by police but the investigation is ongoing.”

You know guys, there is a difference in behavior. I can accept that a person can make bad choices, even felonies and change. I can accept that felonies can be wrong, like in our original constitution. I fully appreciate and accept that people should be given second chances, even third and fourth chances depending on the severity of their actions.

However!

Vick and his buddies CHOSE to torture creatures in the most cruel and violent way, gleefully enjoying burning dogs alive while they yelped and screamed in agony until their deaths.

They CHOSE to hang them and beat them, and rape them for fun.

This is not a person making a bad decision, this is psychotic behavior, not a mistake. To do it one time, displays a sickness of personality that goes beyond the ‘hood’, or race or youthful misconduct.

This goes beyond trying to get rich quick, or being desperate enough to steal a loaf of bread to feed a family.

If you enjoy watching suffering, if you cause that suffering, you are sick and you will not change. Like a pedophile, you cannot “heal” that. You are sick.

I am not surprised that Vick is associated with trouble again, because he is a sick man and it was not a mistake, his Bad Newz Kennel was from a man whose brain is wired wrong.

He will not be okay and I don’t care how fast or how far he can throw a piece of leather. Those creatures just wanted to live their lives, and be included but instead they ran into Michael Vick and his friends and they were burned alive.

Bad idea for Vick to promote his own birthday party open to the public.

DOL is right about the possible repercussions Vick could face so this is in no way a nonstory.

Just being in the same room as Quanis Phillips could cost Vick his freedom and career per his probation tearms.

Brother Marcus who promoted the party on Twitter and Facebook said it was an open-invite birthday party so anyone with $30 in their pocket could get in and cause trouble.

From what I’ve also read their were alot of camcords around so it should not take long for the whole story to come out.

Why limit it to only those facts? How about the fact that:

The person shot is on parole for the same crime that got MV convicted.
Michael Vick is also on Parole.
Being around other paroles, and firearms constitutes violation of parole.
Vick left 10 minutes before the shooting took place.
The NFL is investigating.
We do not know who the shooter is, or the motivation of the shooter.
Nobody is talking at this point, so there are probably a lot of other facts that are going to come up.

If you are going to report the facts, report all the facts.

If we are going to keep it to the facts, lets be sure to list all the facts.

First of all get the facts before you make dumb statements. The party was not thrown by Vick, Roddy white, MV7 and several other football players, basketball players, track star and models were there it was at a restaurant not a night club it was not by invitation tickets were 50 and 35 over 350 people showed up Vick, White and their guess left in a limo before any of this happened. Vick had security and so did the restaurant this was the 3rd party that was given for Vick there this was the first one that was not a private party. Larry Bethea Indianapolis Colts said Vick had left same time he did and their was no fights or disturbance inside.it was a good party. Cameras outside showed Vick leaving the party with others well before the fight and shooting began. Vick had prior approval from PO to attend party. Police say Vick is no interest to them. He was not there. The question then becomes if the PO (probation officer) knew Vick was going to be there how does Phillips explain why he was there? I sure he did not have permission to be there. Vick has had over 20 parties thrown for him and there had not been any problems. As a matter fact he had one in ATL and one in Augusta. Phillips was not invited probably came to start trouble or beg these leeches think people owe them. It is all about jealousy and trying to live off someone else. So get the facts before you start popping off. Vick does need to leave that dead beat brother of his alone and stay out of Va too many people there that think he should take care of them. By the way the same people that hosted Vick party are hosting a party Sunday for another NFL player. I would not be surprised if Phillips was paid to start trouble

I don’t care about the Vick stuff, party, or any of that stuff. I have a feeling Roger Goodell will pick on what I did, the man shot and invited to the party was one of Vick’s dog fighting partners, and that is a big no no. Goodell said publicly that Vick had to show that he had left that part of his life behind, but here he has the same element around him. I think the court is also going to hone in on the same fact, that he is with a convicted felon again (invitee to the party). I said at the beginning of the process, that a new incident would arise, that what we saw was a facade. For Vick’s sake and his family, he needs help to overcome his environment and the bad elements in his life. This proves that he still has that problem.

This really isn’t that hard to figure out. Vick had a Bday party at a restaurant, His Co-Defendant/Snitch showed up. Vick and other people asked him to Leave. He caused a scene and after he was finally leaving the premises someone put a “hot one” in his leg. Now for anyone who is familiar with “Hood rules” you understand what happened without any complications. The worst thing to be labeled in “Urban culture” is a “snitch”. It’s Hood Leprosy and you are a Pariah for your remaining days on earth. The Co-Defendant knows this and my guess for him having the audacity to show up at Vick’s party is because he’s hurting for money and there are no Jobs available because of his Felony record, no more leeching off of Vick and his money and finally because of his Snitching label, nowhere else to turn. His showing up at Vick’s Bday was an act of desperation and basically a Death wish. No way was it Vick behind it because he is on his last chance and has too much to lose. There were alot of people who Love and cherish Vick at that party and it’s real simple to guess that one of them took it upon them selves to rid Vick of this troublesome person. Dude is lucky to be alive….

This is really sad that everyone keeps perpetuating this kind of argument. It is wrong that media keeps sensationalizing it also. Vick Supporters keep bringing up the names Rapistburger (Ben Rothlisberger) and Matt Ryan because they think its a race thing with Vick. Race has nothing to do with it. Ben Rothlisberger is just as big a punk as Vick. The only problem is that Rothisberger had his enterage covered up his rapes and so far Ben has gotten away with them. If Ben doesnt change, however, Ben will eventualy get convicted of rape and will do prison time eventually. I dont feel that Ben is treated any better than Vick. Vick got caught by the law but so far Ben has escaped legal consequences. I think Ben will get into serious trouble and his career will get ruined if he continues to take advantage of women and continue with his outrageous behavior. As far as Vick is concerned, Vick is beyond help at this point and it appears Vicks life is spiraling downhill and when he lands in the gutter Vick will suffer more serious consequences.

VS that is because when he got out and signed to play in the NFL he is on a Payment plan the NLF oversees. Vick hasn’t made back enough money to payoff all his debts yet.

Ben Rothisburger’s situation is nothing like Vicks situation. Ben’s was similar Kobe Bryant’s situation. They had sex with girls who said no, paid them off, and walked free.

Nobody called either of them thugs, because they did not fit the defination of a thug, they are rapists, and both were treated the same.

Thugs and Rapist are two different things. Thugs do not rape girls, they just knock them up and move on, or they give them STD.
