Roddy White attended Michael Vick's football camp, but had left the party before an early a.m. shooting occurred.
The National Football League and the Philadelphia Eagles are gathering information on the shooting that occurred after Michael Vick’s birthday party last Thursday outside of Virginia Beach.
The league is checking to see if the player conduct policy was violated or if Vick violated his federal probation order. He’s under probation for three years as part of his federal dogfighting conviction.
Vick’s attorney stated that he was not involved in the shooting.
Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, who went to help at Vick’s youth football game and was at the party, said they both had left long before the shooting occurred.
“We have been looking into it to determine the facts,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in an e-mail Sunday sent to USA Today.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell addressed Vick’s plight at the rookie symposium to reporters last night.
“Obviously, we’ve got to look and see whether there was any violation of policy,” Goodell said.
Vick could be facing another suspension from the league.
Falcons Pro Bowl wide receiver Roddy White was at Michael Vick’s 30th birthday party, but left before the shooting of one of Vick’s co-defendants in the federal dog fighting case occurred.
“We were already gone by the time that stuff started happening, so I don’t know what’s going to go on with that or whatever, but we didn’t have anything to do with it,” White told the Newport News Daily Press during a break in the youth football camp.
Falcons Pro Bowl wide receiver Roddy White attended Michael Vick’s football camp at Hampton University on Thursday but was not at a party later that night when a shooting took place.
“Just got off the plane. Goin(g) to Mike Vick’s football camp in VA. Should be good,” White tweeted at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday off his Twitter.com account.
Later, at 11: 05 he tweeted, “Camp was nice. It was hot, but fun.”
Jonathan Feinsod spoke to White’s mother and she said Roddy was fine. He wasn’t sure if White was in Virginia or back in Atlanta, but he was not present at the time of the shooting.
“Roddy is pretty loyal to his friends,” Feinsod said on Friday. “I’m sure he wasn’t involved in anything.”
Several Virginia media outlets have reported that Quanis Phillips, one of Vick’s co-defendants in the federal dogfighting trial, was shot after a birthday party for Vick after 2 a.m. Friday morning.
Lawrence Woodward, Vick’s attorney, said his client was not involved or present during the shooting.
Former Falcon DeAngelo Hall, who currently plays for the Washington Redskins, was listed as one o f the “invited” guests on the flyer for the party. But Friday evening he tweeted that he wasn’t there.
“I understand I was mentioned as a special ‘invited’ guest to attend, but as most of you know I’ve been on vacation with my family,” Hall sent in a tweet at 3:49 on Friday.

RK — There were about 200 kids at the camp. Day care is pretty high. A “free” camp is going to attract some kids.

Calvin G. Sims — well said, but I have to disagree with you on one thing…I am not at ALL surprised by this. You seem to give Vick way too much credit, like he has learned from his mistakes… but I still think he considers himself an entitled athlete, not a humble, broken man who needs to rebuild his life around some sound principles and strong morals.
And I respectfully ask that you don’t call him a “young man” anymore… he is what, 30 years old? Time to start being a grown-up Mike!!! Most of us had to start doing that at 18-19-20 years old… you’re about a decade behind. How ’bout for future birthdays you do something simple like SPEND THE EVENING WITH YOUR WIFE AND KIDS AND NOT CRIMINAL THUGS!!!

Vick Fan — you have a problem with a 30-year-old man spending his birthday with his family with ice cream instead of being at some club at 2 a.m. with alcohol and thugs? Geez, you need to think about your priorities a little bit, man… Vick needs to start engaging in some righteous and productive behavior, not being a club punk. You and everybody else needs to STOP MAKING EXCUSES FOR THIS PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A MAN!

All of these perfect people still disrespecting Michael Vick. I expect women who like to gossip to maybe say something negative but they all Love Mike. It’s these gay dudes who think they are perfect stating these negative hateful things. Work at being somebody or something. Mike does not wake up with you or me on his mind he know y’all are out there though. All it takes is someone to report something or write it and “BAM” ya’ll pop up. In all my life I have heard of incidents with guns at some partys.

We’ve all heard of the Madden curse and for Micheal Vick it’s been HUGE!!!! Since he’s been on the cover he’s lost half a year to an injured ankle, cost Dan Reeves his job, been indicted, convicted and jailed for dog fighting, been suspended by the NFL, forced to play backup with the only team that wanted him and now has been mentioned in a story about his birthday party and a shooting. All of that and the curse he put on the Falcon franchise! We replaced Dan Reeves with Jom Mora Jr. and Bobby Petrino so that both coaches can get the most out of Mr. Dark Cloud Follows Me Around! Made Arthur Blank look like a fool for standing up for him when the allegations first broke out. And, I don’t believe, season ticket sales have recovered since Vick went to Leavenworth.
PLEASE RODDY STAY AWAY FROM VICK BEFORE HIS CURSE COSTS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I don’t see a thing wrong with a person having a birthday party, what I do see wrong is someone crashing that party when they know they were not invited. So I am not understanding what all the hoopla is about. Now I plan to sit back and watch how this plays out, and I am willing to bet this crap gets more attention than the Roethlisber case. Because you know, how you haters are, you come out like roaches whenever you hear the name Mike Vick.

Jeff – No, no, no, you mistake what I am saying. I LOVE spending my kids birthdays at DQ, or whatever……but for my birthday my wife and I like to step out….sometimes maybe even in midtown until….ohhhh close your eyes Jeff…..4AM!!!!! OH MY! And put a camera crew behind me and watch what happens in Midtown at 4am, I will bet I have been within 100 yards of a shooting several times, and I will bet I even broke a law or 2! My point is put a spotlight on anyone except you and we all would be crucified. And to be honest I am not necessarily a Michael Vick fan, I dont know the man……I am a #7 Vick the football player fan, I cant wait to see him rebound and play to his full ability again. I believe, truly believe he knows he is in a bad place in his life, and he has done what most would do revert back to your comfort zone, your own safe place, which is his home town, his family and old friends. They may be bad, but its a safe place when the world is crashing around you. Did the article not say he had a kids camp earlier in the day, that is a phenomenal contribution! I applaud him for that. Children are the future…..sorry but they will have a bit more to do with our future than the puppies, and kitties out there. I love animals, I have recently lost my bet friend my dog, his picture and leash hang over my computer now. But those that claim that killing animals, and torturing animals is the end of the world are probably saying so as they eat their Filet, off a cow that had his head chopped off for money……its cold hard reality man, it happens. It is the price we pay for being at the top of the food chain. I feel bad for those that try and shelter their lives in a utopian society. Take the good with the bad, and always look for the good in people before crucifying them over an article in the paper. Off the box now, sorry for switching gears 14 times, without warning.

Me thinks that MV7s federal parole officer might be interested in what happened here. Gun, convicted felons, alcohol, 2:00 am, all don’t mix well with a federal probation order. And the standard for revoking parole is very low. MV7 is a dumba** plain and simple…so glad he’s gone.

This man is charged with assaulting women. Not once, but twice. And there is talk of a third one. ESPN did not even want to run the first story until they really had no choice. They could not sweep it under the rug any longer !
Have any of you seen the report on the case??? This man is sick.

VickFan — wow, you did switch gears a few times, but at least you make sense and make some intelligent arguments on here… some of these folks today are apparently off their meds….
And i understand what you said about going out, having a party, etc. etc… but here is the difference — you are an average Joe that nobody knows and nobody cares what you do. Vick is a national celebrity who is a convicted felon, SO HE HAS NO BUSINESS BEING OUT CLUBBIN’ AT 2 A.M.!!!!! If I were in his shoes, with all the trouble he’s been in, he SHOULD be home with his kids eating a DQ ice cream cake!!! My god, it would take the brains of a turnip to go out and put myself in that situation if I were Vick!
You seem to be able to separate Vick the QB from Vick the man… but sorry, i put them together. You are who you are… and every facet of your life makes up who you are. And honestly, I think you give him too much credit… he was never an elite NFL quarterback, just a lightning-fast guy with great athletic skills. He was not considered a warrior, a great leader, a clutch guy… just a good athlete.
My point to you, respectfully, is this: if people want to go out to a party or a club at 2 a.m., by all means, they can do that…. but if you’re a convicted felon and the eyes of the world are on you, waiting for a mistake, why put yourself in that situation??? That shows bad judgement on Vick’s part, and it’s simply part of a pattern of behavior… in other words, he never seems to learn his lesson.
Until Vick can make better decisions, hang out with better people, and make some LEGITIMATE, REAL, NON-POSTURING improvments in his life (i.e., real change and not just something to fix his image), then I think he is doomed to make stupid decisions over and over… and one of these days it might come back to bite him in the rear.

I suspect he just does not realize to this day what went wrong. Some people don’t have the clarity to see what is the right thing to do. Had he owned up to it, it would have disapered by now. and he would still be earning alot of millions.

Furthermore (sorry I tried to get off the box but just could not), I like the man because he played his heart out on TV, yea he made millions doing it, but I PAID to watch him, and I would pay to watch him again. It was not that he was a great player…..no not at all, plenty of those out there. It was that one series in the playoffs, I think it was against Green Bay, or Minnesota…..it was snowing and the Falcons were losing, Vick took the team on his back and drove the team down to a touchdown on his own. He played with heart, he put it all on the field….he loves the game, he didn’t do that for money, he didn’t earn anymore or less…..that was a man fighting for what he believes in, what he loves Football. If we could have that drive in every Marine, the world would be a much safer place.

OG Falcon Fan — excellent point. The only reason he seems “changed” or “contrite” is because he got caught. Had he never been caught, he’d still be involved in all that disgusting behavior.
And to those of you calling us “hypocrites”…. what’s wrong with calling out a person for breaking the law and being a criminal thug? That’s not judging, it’s called “holding people up to the standard of expected behavior in our society.” You people try to lower those standards — people like me are trying to RAISE them.
People like Vick, Roethlisberger, etc. are idiots and entitled punks and they don’t seem to learn their lesson… ONE mistake is understandable, but when it happens over and over and over… that just proves they are bad people, plain and simple, and our society should have no place for them until they learn their lessons and make REAL changes in their lives.

The state of Virginia? Like Calm Down said before, until further FACTS come out we can’t automatically pin Vick to the situation. AMERICA = INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN guilty folks.
You all just love to hate Vick. BP has a policy not to save any more animals in the gulf because it’s not an economically efficient use of volunteer’s time. ECONOMICS! Vick Fan — I agree with what you said about that drive and determination in every Marine… yes, that would be amazing. And kudos to you for your military service — my hats off to people like you for those sacrifices.
But again, I still think you give Vick too much credit as a football player… yes he made some amazing plays, but every one of those could also be credited to his teammates for making a great block, a great catch, etc. He never “single-handedly” won ANY football games — football is a team sport and it takes all 53 guys, not just one. If it took just one guy, then the best players in the league — Manning, Brady, Peterson, etc. — would have 15 Super Bowls each. What it takes is a team effort.
Yes Vick had some great highlights, but he can’t be credited with winning things by himself.

After what Vick has been through he has no business stepping into a club for ANY reason. He should be home celebrating quietly with his family. This behavior shows that he has not really adopted the lifestyle that he tried to convince everyone he was adopting. Millions of people never step into clubs for any reason. He is risking millions of dollars with this behavior. Is this connection with the past really worth that? Very few Americans have the opportunity to make that kind of money, and many are trying by doing all of the right things. Offer me a million a year and I will gladly stay out of clubs for the rest of my life. Most everyone here would do the same.

Always been a falcons fan, My family and I were at the Marriott Resort in Orlando by the pool.. I look over and see Vick and his family. I said “Good to see you” we struck up a conversation and he asked where I was from I told him Atlanta. Also I told him he was a strong man to have to face the world who still judges him by the mistake he made. Anyway our families ended up hanging by the pool all afternoon and later we all ended up at the same restaurant for dinner. He stopped by spoke again. I know what the knews has said about him, I know he has served his time. I did not like him as a Falcons QB. But as a person from my personal experience, he is a good guy and was very cordial to my family and approachable. His kids have outstanding manners as well, Mike Vick is okay in my book.
