Roddy White attended Michael Vick's football camp, but had left the party before an early a.m. shooting occurred.
The National Football League and the Philadelphia Eagles are gathering information on the shooting that occurred after Michael Vick’s birthday party last Thursday outside of Virginia Beach.
The league is checking to see if the player conduct policy was violated or if Vick violated his federal probation order. He’s under probation for three years as part of his federal dogfighting conviction.
Vick’s attorney stated that he was not involved in the shooting.
Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, who went to help at Vick’s youth football game and was at the party, said they both had left long before the shooting occurred.
“We have been looking into it to determine the facts,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in an e-mail Sunday sent to USA Today.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell addressed Vick’s plight at the rookie symposium to reporters last night.
“Obviously, we’ve got to look and see whether there was any violation of policy,” Goodell said.
Vick could be facing another suspension from the league.
Falcons Pro Bowl wide receiver Roddy White was at Michael Vick’s 30th birthday party, but left before the shooting of one of Vick’s co-defendants in the federal dog fighting case occurred.
“We were already gone by the time that stuff started happening, so I don’t know what’s going to go on with that or whatever, but we didn’t have anything to do with it,” White told the Newport News Daily Press during a break in the youth football camp.
Falcons Pro Bowl wide receiver Roddy White attended Michael Vick’s football camp at Hampton University on Thursday but was not at a party later that night when a shooting took place.
“Just got off the plane. Goin(g) to Mike Vick’s football camp in VA. Should be good,” White tweeted at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday off his Twitter.com account.
Later, at 11: 05 he tweeted, “Camp was nice. It was hot, but fun.”
Jonathan Feinsod spoke to White’s mother and she said Roddy was fine. He wasn’t sure if White was in Virginia or back in Atlanta, but he was not present at the time of the shooting.
“Roddy is pretty loyal to his friends,” Feinsod said on Friday. “I’m sure he wasn’t involved in anything.”
Several Virginia media outlets have reported that Quanis Phillips, one of Vick’s co-defendants in the federal dogfighting trial, was shot after a birthday party for Vick after 2 a.m. Friday morning.
Lawrence Woodward, Vick’s attorney, said his client was not involved or present during the shooting.
Former Falcon DeAngelo Hall, who currently plays for the Washington Redskins, was listed as one o f the “invited” guests on the flyer for the party. But Friday evening he tweeted that he wasn’t there.
“I understand I was mentioned as a special ‘invited’ guest to attend, but as most of you know I’ve been on vacation with my family,” Hall sent in a tweet at 3:49 on Friday.

I love how you say that “trouble follows him around” rather than the fact that he chooses to hang out with lowlifes, and he’s a lowlife himself. Michael Vick needs to take responsibility for his vile behavior.

‘he deserved to get shot…’calm down’? No one deserves to get shot and who goes to a b’day party with a gun? Thugs, that is who….so, you lay down with dogs, you will get fleas and anybody that hangs out with Vick and his ‘posse’ are going to get into trouble. I agree that the Falcons and anybody with sense will say, ‘don’t hang out with Vick’….get a brain and ‘lose the guns people’!

Vick probably enjoys life, and the freedom he has earned. 52 Friday and Saturday nights a year, lets say he only goes to a bar on 1 of those nights and only goes maybe 2 times a month, that would mean 26 nights a year he is at a bar, he has been out of prison how long? (Honestly I dont remember) lets say 2 years, thats 52 visits to the bar and this is the first time something has happened? Give me those odds in Vegas!

DOB,
The guy with the AWM thing is a troll here and on profootballtalk.com.
AWM is his word for “A-hole White Males.”
You know, ’cause all us A-hole White Males have nothing better to do but to keep an upstanding black man like Mike Vick down.
Just more of the same old same old coming from certain people.
I suggest a healthy dose of Dr. William Cosby on how to properly handle this situation, and dropping the “Blame Whitey, Al Sharpton-Jesse Jackson Bit”, ’cause it’s getting OLD.

@Southside Falcon (5:10 p.m.) Here’s the thing you and any other Vick-supporting knuckleheads need to remember:
The public is not and will not cut ANY of these dirtbag thug entitled criminal athletes ANY SLACK anymore because we’re just sick and tired of it. I don’t care if it’s Vick, Rothlisberger, Burris, Tiger Woods, Gilbert Arenas, Milton Bradley, etc., we as fans and decent, honest citizens are TIRED OF THIS CRAP.
You said you were mad at him “3 years ago”… what on earth has changed in your mind? Vick still makes stupid comments, stupid decisions, keeps all these hanger-ons and wanna-bes and thugs around him, and apparently hasn’t learned very much. The only reason he does ANY charity work or camps or anything is because the NFL makes him as part of his “image rehab”… but I don’t think he’s changed a bit and I don’t think he’d do a thing different if he could go back in time… other than not get caught.
Some of us who were not blinded by the “OMG Vick is an awesome QB and he’s ‘representin’ the black community!” while he was with the Falcons saw many, many warning signs of his immaturity…. lack of commitment in the offseason, the water-bottle-pot incident, flipping off fans at the Dome, saying he quit in the last game of the season, etc. We were sick of him when he was still a Falcon… why should we let up now that he’s on another team.
Michael Vick is a felon, a thug, an idiot and an overpaid punk who deserves no sympathy, second chances or forgiveness. Any of us who are not millionaires would NEVER have gotten the breaks he has — we’d never get a second chance at our career nor a short prison sentence in a plush facility. We’d have gotten 5 to 7 years hard time, from what I hear from attorneys who know the law.
Quit making excuses and taking up for ol’ No. 7. He’s a big boy and can deal with his own crap. Everything that has happened to him is because he makes STUPID DECISIONS. One of these days these decisions might get him or somebody else killed.
Vick needs to crawl back under the rock from whence he came and stay there. Until he makes some LEGITIMATE contributions to society and REALLY changes his life and tries to make up for what he’s done, I just as soon never read about him in the paper ever again.
And Southside, I am not on a “high horse”… I just don’t agree with your statement of “Vick is trying.” Nope, he’s doing what he can to try to save his image and get some endorsements. Left up to his own, he’d be back running with the troublemakers who he calls friends. This is not being judgemental, this is stating facts — Vick is a felon dog-killer who is a scumbag and does not deserve support from ANYBODY except his mother and family, who have to love people like that. The rest of our society should wash our hands of Vick and never speak of him again.

Jeff – I am with you man. I think anyone who does prison time for anything should be sentenced to death! That would certainly make the world a much better place. If you commit a crime, there is no way you can be rehabilitated and a contributing member of society, you are simply trash! Lets overthrow the court systems, and the constitution itself and start a movement to sentence all those that commit crimes to death! Then you could live in your utopian society where everyone goes to your church, and believes in all that you do.
Oh wait, that would mean I would never have lived passed High School…..maybe this isnt such a great idea Jeff, sorry cant stand by you on this one……..LMAO, really?

And before more disinformation is passed as “fact” here:
Mike Vick was at the party.
Quantis Phillips showed up to confront Vick (probably because Vick sold him out to the Feds).
He argued with Vick, at which point the argument made its way outside the club.
At some point outside the club, Phillips was shot (most likely by a member of Vick’s posse).
Right now, authorities know there are witnesses, but the witnesses are not cooperating, or “snitching,” as the street parlance goes. Either because they are scared of Vick and his posse, or because they are loyal to Vick and his posse.
Either way, local authorities will probably have no luck getting witnesses, or the victim, Phillips, to talk.
If the Feds get involved, someone will talk.
At that point, Vick will be shown to clearly be in VIOLATION OF HIS PAROLE. Which is a mandatory jail sentence.
Or.
It’ll come out that, perhaps, Vick even went so far as to order the shooting.
Either way, once again, it doesn’t look good for Vick. And of course, he’ll lie, lie, lie to protect himself, hoping others will lie on his behalf… again.
Some dog killers never learn.

Hey Vick Fan — apparently you can’t read. See, nowhere did I say Vick should be put to death… I SAID HE APPARENTLY IS STILL A THUG AND HAS NOT LEARNED HIS LESSON!!!!! He still surrounds himself with troublemakers!!!
You apparently need me to explain like I would to a 3rd grader so here it is: Yes, Vick can have a birthday party, but my god, 2 a.m.? Go to dinner at 8, go to a place to party at 10, everybody go home by midnight. Is that so hard? And of all the parties I have been to and birthday dinners I have attended, NEVER has anyone been shot. know why? BECAUSE I DON’T HANG OUT WITH LOSERS!!!
You said “If you commit a crime, there is no way you can be rehabilitated and a contributing member of society, you are simply trash.” I didn’t say he can’t contribute to society… I just think he is still an idiot who makes bad decisions. Heck, I think Vick is so dumb he could not pass 9th grade at some of our country’s better schools. I think he can be a “contributor” by working at a burger joint, spending his own money to travel and give speeches to kids, donate a TON of money… I mean, most of his life savings… to animal rescue groups….. THEN AND ONLY THEN would I think he is really trying to rehab and contribute to society. Right now, all I see is a spoiled prima-donna who b****es and moans about lack of playing time for the Eagles. THE DUDE SHOULD BE LUCKY TO HAVE A JOB IN ARENA LEAGUE 2, MUCH LESS THE NFL!!!
It’s obvious to those of us not blinded by athletic talent that Michael Vick is simply a bad man who at 30 years hold still can’t make grown-up decisions, and we as a society would be better off if he just moved to Siberia.

And by the way, the mamby-pamby “coddle these poor guys in jail and try to rehab them” crap hasn’t worked in our society for 40 years. The only way a lot of idiots get a message in their thick skull is to pay a VERY heavy price by prison time and hefty fines. I don’t mean jail time in months, i mean YEARS. Our court system and jail are not supposed to be elements of rahabilitation for “poor guys who have fallen off the straight and narrow path”…. they are supposed to be elements of justice to levy PUNISHMENT on CONVICTED CRIMINALS.
Until you and every other Vick-lover realize this, you will always wonder why the vast majority of us don’t welcome this thug back with open arms. It’s because we’ve seen too many cases of repeat criminals and guys who make the same dumb mistakes over and over and over, USUALLY because they didn’t learn from the slap on the wrist they got after their 1st, 2nd, 3rd offenses.
Vick (and all you vick lovers) need to grow up and mature and live in 2010. He is no longer a star athlete, no longer a role model, no longer the face of the Falcons franchise, and no longer a hero…. heck, he’s not even an elite NFL quarterback anymore. He is a sad, pathetic convicted felon who still hangs out with ghetto trash.

But cmon people, you CAN NOT fault him for having a birthday party at a club, and for BLAMING the shooting of a guy who snitched on him to Vick. Now if LATER the facts come out that Vick told them to shoot him, then I am ALL behind you, Vick should be put in Jail for a LONG time under those facts, BUT that IS NOT what we are dealing with right now. So dont blame Vick for this until something like that is discovered!!!!

So pull your pants up, sell your gun, disassociate with the thugs, cut your hair, skip the tattoos, get rid of the motorcycle, and ACT LIKE A FREAKIN’ GROWN UP! Besides, if I was a convicted felon who had an image problem and knew that I could get in more trouble by associating with bad people or having a bad incident happen around me…. you’re darn right I would be home by midnight! It amazes me that people think pro athletes have some God-given “right” to be out all night and associate with thugs… really, think about it… is that the smartest decision to make? Certainly not. We are told in the Bible to judge people against God’s laws and the expectations he has set for us… so judging somebody for murder, rape, stealing, dog killing, lying, fraud, burglary, etc. is not piling on, it’s called “holding people to the expected standard of behavior we have in our society.”

I’m very dissapointed and a little surprised that Mike Vick would still be hanging out with the same people who accompanied him down the road to disaster (Quanis Phillips) in the past. I hate to see any young person throwing their life away by makeing bad decisions and taking unnecessary risks. I was just talking to my wife yesterday and saying that you have to have the common sense to stay away from people who have proven that they are not of good character.
We often get warnings, but many of us do not heed those warning until we get to the shoulda – woulda – coulda stage. Often, too often, that stage is behind bars or in an emergency room. I hope this serves as ANOTHER wake up call for Mike. WAKE UP MIKE!!!
