Steve Sabo, 36, who spent the previous 11 seasons with the Cleveland Browns, was hired by the Falcons as an area scout on Tuesday.
Sabo served as the Browns’ senior director of pro personnel in 2009, was responsible for scouting NFL teams and assisted with advance scouting of upcoming opponents. In addition to his scouting responsibilities, he played a role in

the acquisition of unrestricted free agents and preparation for the NFL Draft.
“We are excited about the addition of Steve to our scouting department,” Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said in a statement released by the team. “Steve has15 years of scouting experience and possess an adept scouting perspective that we feel will mesh well with our scouting philosophy and scouting department.”
Before joining the Browns, Sabo, a native of Willingboro, N.J. who graduated from Kutztown University in 1993, spent five seasons with the New Orleans Saints as an administrative assistant and scout.
Sabo is likely taking the role that was vacated just before the NFL scouting combine in February, when scout Bruce Plummer, who had been with the team for 10 years, was relieved of his duties.
In January, Sabo and his staff was fired in Cleveland when new general manager Tom Heckert took over.
He joined the “expansion” Browns in 1998 when the NFL assigned a staff of scouts to get a jump on the expansion draft while entities were bidding for ownership.
Sabo remained through four regimes and ascended to his senior level position.

hiramsaint,
Gruden is not a real coach. You point at the Super Bowl that he won with Dungy’s players and Dungy’s defense. The offense wasn’t even a factor in that Super Bowl. They scored more points on defense than the offense did that game. While Gruden was the HC for the Bucs it was his offense for the Raiders that got beat by the Defense of Dungy. As Warren Sapp and John Lynch and Derrick Brooks and see what they say.
With all that being said, in the two years Smith has coached the Falcons, they have been over .500 so your comment is inaccurate.

i;m sorry the facts burn so deep into you boys. but facts are what they are and by virtue of their method ,exclude metaphysics. gruden is 5-4 in the playoffs with a lombardi . what is smitty? 0-1 in post season. though last year was a WINNING season, it wasn’t as good as the year before. why? 1- he’s in way over his head in the skill dept. 2– arty micro-managing from the sidelines.3– an asst. defensive coach cannot tutor young matty slush the way a qb with some potential needs to be coached. to terrel– a real coach teaches his team to score on both offense and defense. the SAINTS did it last year and they finished the season pretty strong. if your idea of a good program is over .500 then smitty is your man. if your idea of a good program is a sustained playoff run, maybe you should get jon to coach up smitty a bit on it!

and yet another area where smitty could be coached up. building a team is what we did. trying to maintain a mediocre team is what smitty is doing also the saints were winning 5 out 6 over the falcons , 7out of 8 thru last year and you gotta know it’s gonna be9 out of 10 after this season as we head to the playoffs and the falcons head to clear out their lockers

meaningless to those who support a meaningless team. what was not true-truth. the truth is your program, from the old washed up players to the new washed up players, coaches, scouts and ownersip is mediocre at best and reflects in your poor performance lately

And yet another meaningless post by Hiram who apparently is the only person who is saying the Falcons are not a team on the rise. I’ll tune you out and listen to the professionals……mkay.
