Gonzales is a man’s man. The guy’s in phenomenal shape, he’s actually a good guy, and seems very humble. Thats probably why he’s been blessed to stay in the league for this long and perform at a high level. Glad he’s ok. I would have been sad.

I hope everyone realizes, while the act of a jet engine blowing out can be violent and nothing less of scary to anyone sitting on the A/C, that these planes are built to take off, fly, and land with only one of their engines. This is hardly the big deal that the AJC and local media are making it.

I was on that flight as it originated from Brussels and landed in Atlanta before going to LA. I was on the flight from Brussels to ATL and was glad I did not have engine troubles when we were flying over the artic ocean.

This actually happens more than the airlines will ever admit. I’ve been on 3 planes in my lifetime where the engine either caught on fire or was shut down by the pilots in mid air and we had t have an emergency landing. I was even on one flight wher the front windshield cracked and almost blew out the front. The pilots faces were white as hell when we landed–that was a scary one!

Good grief.
An indicator light is not an emergency.
It’s so annoying when people dramatize these issues as if they supposedly had a brush with death. The light came on, the pilot turned around. It happens EVERY FRIGGIN’ DAY in this country….but just put a celebrity on the plane and it suddenly becomes a near-death experience. I would even be ashamed to mention it, but he’ll probably go cry on Oprah and write a book about it.
Four pilots to land the plane…give me a break.
He needs to take a ride in a plane over Afghanistan or Baghdad like some real heros, and then he might have something to twitter about.

I was on that plane. Tony and his gorgeous family were chill, sharing some food while waiting for the new aircraft. We were early in take-off process when the engine went out – not a good time. I’ve seen haters on other sites say that TG was being a baby b/c it was fine to glide back. Um, no way. We were burning off fuel for a long time just to be safe for the landing. I hope the Falcons do well, even if I’m one of those long-suffering 49ers fan whose glory Super Bowl days are too far in the past.

Hey Jim d from USC……At least you had some glory days. Us Falcon fans only glory days were winning the NFC Championship game in 1998 against the Vikings and then we had to endure getting Blasted by John Elway and the Bronco’s in Superbowl XXXIII, and lets not forget about the infamous Eugene Robinson looking for some poontang the night before the Superbowl for what was a MAJOR distraction for the team. That was not the reason we lost of course, Broncos were a much better team, but that didn’t help. Still to this day can’t believe he did that.

Not that anyone is going to believe me, but I was on that same flight and saw the flame/fire coming from the right engine under the wing. Tony and his wife and two little ones were sitting in first class so he probably didn’t know the engine was shooting fire. Everyone on board was gripping pretty hard for about 30 minutes. Glad to be alive!

Seriously I am glad no one was hurt. Recent pictures would just be comforting. Thanks.
