FLOWERY BRANCH – The Falcons “Friday Night Lights” program is staying in Gwinnett County for the third consecutive year.

The event was held at Grady High School before being staged at Mill Creek High in 2008 and Brookwood High in 2009.

The “Friday Night Lights” scrimmage will be held at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at North Gwinnett High in Suwanee.

The scrimmage is open to the public and admission is free.

This grass roots event includes a fan fest with interactive inflatable games, face painting, sponsor activation, a post event autograph session and a spectacular fireworks show. During the live scrimmage, Falcons coach Mike Smith, Falcons quarterbacks, and certain position players will be mic’d so fans can get an in depth look “inside the huddle” during the scrimmage. WXIA-TV also will be broadcasting live from the event.

“This is a special event for not only our fans, but for our players as well,” said Smith. “Our guys love going back to their roots and playing under the lights at a high school field every year. This event provides us the opportunity to reach out to the community and give our fans a chance to get up close and personal with our team as we prepare for the 2010 season.”

DOL how about an update on the CFA’s and Rookies.
Does Ward look likely to unseat any of the other QB’s on the roster?
Does it look like we’re gonna keep Harvey and Wolfe?
Does anybody look like they’re easily set up to be cut on the first round of cuts?
Do the two RB’s look like they’ll be in a B/U role or on the street?
And then there’s the Bear, will he make the team?

Falcons Transplant — We’ve done a lot on the CFAs. We have to wait to training camp for a lot of those answers. They all look good running around in shorts. Not getting to worked up about that like I did about Laurent Robinson. He was all-OTAs until the pads went on.

Sounds like something I’d love to take my kids to, but it’s also the 1st day of school here so it might be too much excitement for one day……

Gotcha.
I’ve read everything thing you’ve wrote reguarding the falcons since the end of the season.
I greatly appreciate all the work you’ve done keeping us all up to date.
Was just hoping for an up to the minute update re: OTA’s.
But you’re right, we need to wait until the pads are on. But one last thing…
Are we down to 80 players? Last i heard we had 87 because we hadn’t signed our draft picks.
When we DO sign the picks who do you think will get the ax?
This a question that will be answered before training camp, but was wondering what your opinion was.

If you’ve never been to the Friday Night Lights scrimmage, you ought to go. It’s alot of fun and not a bad seat in the house.

One of these days they need to do it @ Collins Hill. Then I could say that I played (more accurately stood on the sidelines) on that same field that a pro team is now playing on. LOL! But I can’t complain about it being at North b/c it’s still real close for me.

So is it the ATLANTA Falcons or the Gwinnett Falcons.

Friday Night Lights gets moved further from the city every year. I’m just sayin’.

I took my family for the first time last year and they really enjoyed it! It’s a fun atomsphere and family friendly! And being the bargain hunter and captain of the financial ship, the FREE admission made it that much more enjoyable. I was able to wiggle out some change for chicken sandwiches!

GO FALCONS!!

Astro, Atlanta Falcons.

The Giants and Jets play where? NJ. The DALLAS Cowboys play where? Irving.

They could play in Jonesboro and still be the ATLANTA Falcons.

Astro has a point. I’m a Gwinnett native but I would like to see the team take a trip to McDonough or Austell next year. Then maybe up to Marietta the year afterwards.

Atlanta has a MASSIVE metro area – North South East and West should get a chance to host the Friday Night Lights event.

Patrick Crayton looks like he’ll be released by the Dallas Cowboys in the next few weeks…

Do we go after him???

I say hell yes. He could push 12 for the 2nd spot on day one and we’d have a Hude depth.
Plus our younger guys could really learn from this vet.
