Terrell Owens didn't have much of an impact in Buffalo last season. (Mike Groll/Associated Press)
The fans have spoken and they don’t want the Falcons to sign wide receiver Terrell Owens.
There was a combined “No” vote of 57%, so you political science majors know that we won’t to have a runoff.
No, he’s too much of a diva (32%) and No, he’ll poison Matt Ryan’s young career were the leaders in the four-question poll.
Here’s how the poll turned out.
Should the Falcons sign Terell Owens?
• No, he’s too much of a diva. (32%, 877 Votes)
• No, he’ll poison Matt Ryan’s young career. (25%, 691 Votes)
• Yes, the receiver corps is thin after Roddy White. (24%, 659 Votes)
• Yes, you can never have too many good football players. (19%, 490 Votes)
Total Voters: 2,717
Our buddy and fellow Bison, Steve Wyche has Seattle showing some interest in T.O. Of course, the Falcons play the Seahawks on Dec. 19.

Can you honestly tell me he’s not better than Jenkins? I understand his Diva issues, but TO is on the downhill backside of his career and he knows it. He knows it’s time to get with a winning organization and play nice before he gets too old – i.e. he can be controlled at this point in his career. I say, if you can pick him up for cheap enough, then take him. It couldn’t be worse than what we’ve already been through with Vick, where I might add, half the dang stadium still wears the No #7 Jersey and almost gave him a standing ovation when he threw a bomb and got a running TD on us last year……
I’m telling ya, TO can still run good routes and has some game left. Think about it!!! TO, Roddy, and Tony G all lining up on the same offense, we’d be unstoppable!!!

Thank goodness the fans were smart enough to know what a cancer he can be to a team, just look at what he’s done everywhere he has been. But it really doesn’t matter how the fans voted because the Falcons management is much smarter than all those that voted “yes” and they wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot pole. If he does go to Seattle then great! He’ll be their problem not ours.

I would love to have T.O here. Have you guys looked last year at him in buffalo and he was not a problem and they did not win. T.O now wants a ring and is still a top 10 wr, for cheap and with him in the line up to go along side roddy and tony. Every week the other team DC will not sleep at all cause you cant double all three and that will open micheal turner for the run. Come on football people lets think winning chips and not personality. rememeber we are trying a superbowl

None of this matters one tiny little bit, because the Falcons would never consider for even a second picking up TO. But, for the sake of argument, TO is WASHED UP! He’s OLD. Besides that, even if he was still a good player, IT’S NOT WORTH IT!!! Why bring in a guy who is going to destroy the team? For what? 50-60 rec. and 600-700 yds? NO WAY!!!!

The reason he wasn’t a problem in Buffalo is because Buffalo isn’t a huge media market like Philly, San Fran, or Dallas. He comes here, he goes back to his diva-ness.

all you people saying T.O.is washed up well just look at Randy Moss everyone said he could not make it inNew England with his attitude and said he was old and washed up too.remember our GM is from the patriots and i know T.O. is better than Micheal Jenkins who dropped a few big passes aginst the Saints last year that would have been touchdowns.

T.O. wants a championship before he retires. I’m sure he knows there’s very little chance of winning a ring with Atlanta in the next two years. I wouldn’t come here if I were him. We will be a championship caliber team soon, just not yet. We need upgrades on defense and on the offensive line.

Clearly, T.O. doesn’t fit into the current Falcon “ethos.” Whether that ethos will be one that will get us to the play-offs has yet to be determined. The jury is out on the T.D. & Smith regime until they get us there. Remember, it was Arthur Blank, that great judge of character and talent, who was enraptured with Jim Mora and his notebooks. He was enraptured with T.D. & Smith, too. Was the Mora pick an exception? Was it, sadly, the rule? We shall see.

You clowns in Atlanta don’t have a clue about football; that’s why the Falcons can’t make it to the playoffs now. T.O. is far from washed up. This is what I have realized about Atlanta sports fans. They don’t know what it takes to win. They think you have to like a player for him to be of any value to helping our teams win. They hold it against a player if he wants more money but are fine with ownership and management that is less than average (see Thrashers). They are jealous of the saliers that players make and think they should just accept whatever is offerred.
The city will always get the worst players, the less experienced coaches and remain at the bottom due to this fan attitude.

When comparing stats shouldn’t you include bridges burned, QB’s thrown under the bus, and oh yeah I see they are tied for rings. When Pac Man is already signed and you are still looking there is a reason. If TO really wants a ring I think Rick has one at his shop on Pawn Stars.

Jacob Cohen…..You are right, you take the bad with the good. In this case the Falcons can avoid that type of decision by just saying no to someone elses aging superstar. The Falcons Mgt. is a smart group of folks. This decision is really quite easy for them. Let the other guy be sleepless in Seattle! He is just another player at this stage of his career trying to pick up a few more big checks. Won’t see him in Atl.

I’m going to disagree with you. Look, New Orleans was no more ready or predicted to
go to the Super Bowl, much less win the thing. Their defense was ranked 25th at the end of the regular season. Both games against New Orleans last year the Falcons were close to beating them. The Falcons are not far off the mark and with the upgrades on defense and a healthy offense it should make for one exciting season.

I cant imagine any team of grownups allowing that thing to be a member. Among certain groups of people is there no sense of maturity, no sense of teammanship? I lived in Dallas when he played there. He was a disaster, he can’t catch. I’ve seen Romo drop some beauties right in his hands and watched them hit the carpet. He is not a good receiver, aside from all his other problems. And yes, if allowed to he will screw up not just Matt Ryan but the entire receiver corps.

Lets see, which of the coaches of TO’s former teams command the respect that Mike Smith does. Mariucci? Reid? Phillips? All three are soft can’t control the locker room coaches. All three coddled their QB and look where it got them. Mike Smith can handle TO. If the price is fine, TO you must sign.

Playing devil’s advocate, if you got T.O. on the cheap, there would be worse things in the world to do. While locker room cancers are worrisome, this guy just spent a year catching passes from Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitzpatrick and being fairly quiet about it. Combine that with DC Dirty Bird’s point about Mike Smith, who’s to say he wouldn’t behave?
I’d say that if it’s August and he’s still out there, you make a call or two. Other than that, no need to get too interested…

I think you all are crazy. Think about this. What team has T.O. played on as has had another stellar receiver on the other side of him..I thought so none..He is a beast and other teams Ds knew this. This is why they double him and this is why he got frustrated. Look at Randy Moss, he calmed his attitude with a winning team and good coach..why not T.O. If you put T.O. on one side..Roddy White on the other and Tony Gonzalez as the superior tight end he is, it will be over…Super Bowl bound. Take all the other championship teams that have won Super Bowl.>Two good Wide Receivers and a good tight end. Do not let Vick issue stop ATLANTA FALCONS from going out to get a great player.

Owens is washed up. Name another receiver who posted great numbers at his age……. Jerry Rice? Tim Brown? Hmmmmm. Can’t think of anyone else in recent memory. So everyone who says he’s still great, he doesn’t compare with the aforementioned. His best days are behind him, and will never be top 10 again as someone has mentioned earlier in this blog. lastly, anyone knocking smith and td should shut it…… name another coach/ gm in falcons history with more success in their first two years.
