FLOWERY BRANCH — Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan had a Q&A with the media after the first practice.
Q: Good to be back?
A: The routine of football, coming in and meeting. I think we did a pretty good job of it this morning. It definitely feel a little bit rusty, but it really felt good to get out and start getting ready for 2010.
Q: Thoughts about the offseason moves, the draft and now getting everybody on the field. How’s that been for you?
A: It’s been good. I think we made some really good additions to our football team. I’ve had the opportunity to work with Dunta Robinson a bunch in the first couple of months of the offseason. I’ve been impressed with his work ethic and what he’s going to bring to the football team. I’m excited about the additions. I certainly think we’re going to be better in 2010.
Q: Coming off back to back winning seasons, what is overall feeling of the team?
A: There is a lot of optimism. I think everybody is excited. It was great for the organization to finally knockoff the . . . the back to back winning seasons, but we want more. We want to be in the playoffs and have the opportunity to play late into the season. I think everybody is excited about that opportunity. We are definitely working really had to get there.
Q: What’s your impression on this crop of rookies?
A: Ask me in a couple of weeks. (laughs) Early on in practice they practice smart. That’s the biggest thing, you want them to come out and get acclimated to the practices and what they are going to be like. I’m trying my hardest to learn their names right now. I’ll give you a report in a couple of weeks.
