FLOWERY BRANCH – During the NFL draft, which will be held Thursday through Friday, the Falcons’ draft room will appear live on NFL Network from the 17th to 19th pick, general manager Thomas Dimitroff announced.

“I know, it seems counter intuitive because I’m quite guarded about the draft room,” Dimitroff said. “But we decided as an organization to make that move.”

The Falcons will allow cameras, but no audio.

“We will have the visual affects of our draft room,” Dimitroff said. “So you’ll be able to be up close and personal with our draft room.”

Last season, Falcons president Rich McKay announced the teams’ draft picks on his twitter.com account as the card was being turned into the league.

Dimitroff doesn’t think they’ll do that this year, but added that the team might talk in code names while on NFL Network.

Here are a couple of code names for players they may take:

  • Michigan defensive end Brandon Graham. Code name: Wolverine.
  • Florida center/guard Maurkice Pouncey. Code name: Gator.
  • Missouri linebacker Sean Weatherspoon: Code name: Fork.
  • Oklahoma tight end Jermaine Gresham: Code name: Kellen Winslow Sr.
  • UCLA defensive tacke Brian Price: Code name: Bob Barker (Price is Right!)

Nice … I will have a snack bowl in hand … chips and crumbs falling out of my mouth yelling at the TV, and remote control with duct tape over the buttons and dare anyone to change it.

Marcus — Now that’s a plan!!! When I want to take “control” of the remote, I get one the driver out of my golf bag.

Gator, fork, or Kellen Winslow, Sr. Come on down.

Falcon fans, come meet & have lunch with 3 Falcon’s legends & support a local charity at the same time. Jeff Van Note, Jessie Tuggle, & Buddy Curry will be there and have a Q&A session with those in attendence. Check it out here: http://www.falconnationcharities.org/lunchwithlegends.html

This is almost like X-mas, with each pick a new gift. After addressing our pass rush , we take the best players available at any position of moderate need. WR,LB,OL,TE,RB, . IF WE CAN STAY HEALTHY WE WILL BE BETTER THAN LAST YEAR PERIOD ,BUT IF WE DON’T GET MORE PRESSURE ON QUARTERBACKS ESPECIALLY BREES, OUR DEFENSE WILL STILL STRUGGLE AGAINST TOP RATED OFFENSES.

Love the code names, DOL. You’re crackin’ me up.

Pouncey could be a solid anchor for the O-line for 10-12 years. He’s hard to pass up, but I hope the Falcons go defense with that first pick. Graham will probably be gone, but we have a shot at Weatherspoon. I think he holds up the Falcons jersey with Smith, Dimitroff and Blank grinning on tomorrow. Just my two cents.
