Rod Battle’s #’s are a joke if he expects to play at the next level. 10 reps on the bench press and now can’t crack 5.0 in the 40? Seriously?

If he had a bad shoulder he probably should not have lifted because he only hurt himself today.

This isn’t an aptitude test. These guys know how fast they are and they know how many times they can lift 225lbs before the combine and before Pro day. If I’m hurt, I’m not going to do anything to hurt my stock. But hey he’s probably just glad to say he had a Pro day.

I’d be interested to hear a VERY candid opinion from Dimitroff on Bryan Evans. I don’t know if CWM screwed that kid up, or he just isn’t football smart….but he was always in bad position or committing a terrible penalty when he was on the field.
(very much like Chris Houston)

DOL, thanks for the updates, question…is it me or does it seem that the 40 times are getting slower as a whole? I know I was shocked last year at Knowshon’s time. To me the difference between “game speed” and “dash speed” is even greater than in the past.

Wow, I thought Rennie was faster than that. I thought he was around a 4.5. So Rennie is smaller and slower that NFL proto type LB’s.

If the Falcons do pick up a 3rd rd comp(in the upper 90s) Geno Atkins ought to be considered closely. Do you think he will last until 117? I’m sure the Jags will be all over Tebow if he looks even half-decent and Berry is absolutely a model of consistency. If he stays healthy, the sky’s the limit.
Will Pouncey be around with the Tebow show for some extra exposure?
Mainly, though, it’s the Weatherspoon workout I think we’re all most curious about–especially this whole personality issue and the alleged “concern” some anonymous GM(s) have regarding his being mouthy and egocentric. Seems to me that he exercised helpful leadership on a mediocre team having a tough down year and led by example on the field putting up the #’s to match the talk. Let’s settle that rumour once and for all with some pointed questioning during any press availabilities. Muchas gracias…..

At least Bryan Evans doesnt have to look for a ball in the air at the pro day. He would laughed off the practice fields. That guy can’t cover an old woman in a wheelchair.

Thank God he and Vince Vance are gone. Anyone else notice that Vance got worse as time went on? We dont need 6′8″ lineman that wear concrete shoes and cant block.

All Dawg

40 yard dash times could mean less for a lineman. As well as most of the drills they do. The point of the drills is for the coaches and scouts to see the guys up close moving around. Most coaches could care less about times, they all would rather just put in a tape and watch the guy play ball. Mike Smith said this yesterday at GT’s pro day. Where a guy is taken in the draft really has nothing to do with pro day or combine workouts the point of these days is for coaches and scouts to see these guys and then talk with them. The biggest and most important part of the combine are the interviews these guys do so that the teams can get to know them and evaluate them as people they evaluate them as players by watching film on them.

Thank you All Dawg for saying something intelligent amongst everyone else. And one could say the same thing for being drafted as well in some cases. Just because certain players get drafted high, that is not a guarantee that they are going to churn out the numbers needed. They’re have been a number of flops as well as players in the later rounds who end up doing exceptional. With that being said, Shout out to kade, J.O., Rod, Mike Mo, etc. Keep your heads high and leave it all on the field.

Michael Moore did 22 reps on the bench press?!? Dang! That dude should have played some defense! Couldn’t have been worse than B Evans. Moore might not be a bad 2nd or 3rd receiver at the next level. Sort of seems to disappear though.

Evans probably just had some bad coaching. The guys are saying Lakatos is teaching them new footwork that some learned in high school. What the heck was willie teaching them? How to keep a stiff neck?

I was not really impressed by the numbers from this Pro Day….Rennie only benched pressed 3 times more than that wide reciever did. I’ve heard references to his size and his speed, or lack thereof, but if we remember correctly I can recall 3 linebackers with the same ‘problems’ as Rennie. One is in the HOF(Tom Jackson), and the other two are bound for the HOF: Sam Mills and Jesse Tuggle….it’s all about the heart baby! ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually JT I think Curran pressed 5 more than did Moore, and 22 rep was impressive for a WR. 27 is nothing to sneeze at for a LB. Both are definately pro numbers for the positions.

As far as Cox being there. I bet he was out seeking professional help polishing his resume for the working world. Rod Battle should have went with him.

I don’t care what his 40, Bench press or agility times reflect. Rennie Curran is a player and has been a damn good dawg. I believe he will do fine in the NFL. He’s there to play football and tackle which he does pretty damn well not to compete in weightlifting or run a 100 yard dash.

JaxDawg

folks, there is a chart in the gators practice room showing the 40 times for all the players, for example Demps and Rainy are listed at 4.24 s, Haden at 4.28 and so for, Mayer the crier claimed Florida is the fastest team on earth whenever ESPN interview him, it turn out all their times are BULL CRAP!! none of the claimed times were achieved by their corresponding players in the NFL combine, for example Haden a CB ran 4.5 s and listed at 4.28, Spikes ran 4.88 and listed at 4.6 s. go figure

Rennie lead the SEC 2 years in a row in number of tackles….might skew the thinking when you look at his speed..oh and he had more tackles and is faster and has less eye gouges than Spikes..and he is a DAMN good dawg!

How is Evans 4.47 faster than Moores 4.45?

Gerald

March 16th, 2010
5:59 pm

Florida never promoted Haden as a speed guy. Wait until Demps and Rainey actually run their 40s. And I don’t know where you are getting the 4.88 for Brandon Spikes. He didn’t run at the combine, and their pro day isn’t until tomorrow. Spikes isn’t regarded as a speed guy either, his speed has been listed at 4.72, which is more than fast enough for a MLB, especially if he is a RILB in a 3-4 defense.

The bottom line is that Florida owns UGA on the field and sends more players to the pros despite there not being much of a difference between recruiting rankings, and despite Richt being at UGA twice as long. Then again, even Ron Zook had a winning record against Richt and UGA!

yeah I dropped the ball that lost the game…so Jones ran a 4.52…I guess I’ll run around a 4.5 or better because he didn’t come close to catching me down the sideline…when my foot heals of course.

In reference to Joe Cox, he basically said his football days are over. He said he didn’t feel like going through this stuff, just to be criticized for being too small. Personally, it’s hard for me to not like Joe Cox. How many would wait patiently for three years, not once complaining. And when he did get his chance, he was prepared and gave it his all.
