It’s OTA time for the Falcons

OTAVILLE – Took a little post-draft, post-mini-camp break.

Back up and ready to roll through the Organized Team Activities, then there will be another break for us before training camp.

The Falcons start their OTAs tomorrow at 10:15 a.m.

They are allowed to have 14 sessions, which are to be non-contact drills and can last no longer than six hours. Only two of those hours can be spent on the field.

While the drills are to be non-contact, seven-on-seven passing drills are allowable. The drills are not mandatory, so it’s always an issue when a veteran or two doesn’t show up.

The Falcons were near 100 percent last season. Which makes sense with a new coaching staff. This year it will be interesting to see if any of the veterans elect to miss a few of the sessions.

The Falcons will practice again on Thursday.

Falcons owner Arthur Blank welcomes rookie safety William Moore. OTAs will be important for Moore in his quest to land a starting spot. (CURTIS COMPTON/AJC).

Falcons owner Arthur Blank welcomes rookie safety William Moore. OTAs will be important for Moore in his quest to land a starting spot. (CURTIS COMPTON/AJC).

After this week, they will practice on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday over the next four weeks to get all of their 14 sessions end. After OTAs are completed on June 18, the team will break for the summer and reunite on July 31 for the opening of training camp.

The media will be allowed to attend five of the sessions, with each Wednesday has been designated by Coach Mike Smith as the media days.

With so many young players on the roster, the Falcons OTA sessions will be key.
On defense, seven of the 11 starters could be players with three years or less. The offense could have three starters.

Also, cornerback Von Hutchins, who broke his foot and spent last season on injured reserve, is expected to be available. First round draft pick Peria Jerry, who suffered a mild right knee sprain at mini-camp, is expected back.

Considering the youth of the Falcons team, how key are the OTA session for the Falcons? How much time should be used in the seven-on-seven drills to sharpen the passing attack? Do you expect all of the veterans to take part some or all of this non-mandatory workouts?

Definately the hometown favorite William Andrews is on the list for me being a THS Bulldog myself. But Claude Humphrey was the first Falcon player whose jersey my mom gave me. And Curry…we we need to get the man in the Ring of Honor soon.

Seminole Warrior, looked him up. He retired in 1970, I believe. Had pretty good numbers. Didn’t play but for 6/7 years.

WR, a good Stripe and some curry barnyard pimp (aka chicken) would be great right now. But I’m too busy with my brethen and wondering if we will call this thing in the Gulf a tropical depression by late tomorrow.

I always heard of Humphrey. Now, I know i just looked on the NFL site. I remember him playing for the Eagles his last few years. wasn’t there a Pitts, that played DE for both the Falcons and Eagles?

Case…now that was a bad man at safety. I’m on record as saying that he was the baddest dude to play safety for the Falcons. William Moore could do well to look at tape of Case, though Moore is going to be a bad man in his own right I think.

If your going throwback you have to talk about Mike Kenn, did the guy even miss one game, even during his 17th and final season he played at a probowl level. Worse throwback player or players, David Archer and Audray Bruce. Is Jesse old enough to be a throwback, the hammer was the man at LB.

I just got back from dinner a little while ago. Sorry to admit this but I had to cheat and go to Longhorn instread of grillin my own but it was because it was raining. Otherwise I definately prefer to do my own. Jason thanks for saying Tuggle earlier. In my early Falcon years, I can’t remember if it was my 1st game here, I guess I should look up the year but someone here can probably just tell me (the 80’s kinda blurr) but I was sitting right next this nice lady and when the Falcons took the field she stood up and yelled “Thtt’s my boy” when they said Jessie Tuggle – I was sitting next to his mother. Eveery time they announced “tackled by Tuggle” she yelled and beamed with pride. I still remember it to this day.

As you can see I’m not a very girlie girl. I love football, beer, grillin. Don’t mind mowing and hate the vaccum cleaner. Go figure.

There is some serious nostalgia going on here. Some of these names are foreign to me. Remember my roots? If you do then you will understand why I am a little “short” on the history of Falcon football. I do however, remember Scott Case and Ironhead Heywood. As someone mentioned before, Moore could do himself some good by watching Case tapes.

We have so many weapons this year that it will be a case of “pick your poison” on offense. However, what will happen is that some “lesser” stars will emerge because so much attention will have to be paid to Roddy, TG, Burner et al. So look for Harry Douglas, Mike Jenkins and even Finneran will have occasional gme winning performances.

Jason, I feel you man. That was indeed a good game. If Braves could only be more consistent. Sorry guys, wrong blog!!!

Go Falcons!!!

What a Wonderful Friday Evening Bird-Cage Bro’s and Sis’s!!! Couldn’t be happier and more proud of the ‘Cage faithful after that display of ridiculous self-aggrandizement. Its so great to see our boys back in their rightful places here in the Bird-Cage. Its great to see us not take the hate-bait and engage in past history that has absolutely no relevance to our Falconi’s what-so-ever. As I said in that “other blog”, we’ve moved on as a Franchise and MV has paid his debt to society and deserves another chance and we wish him the best. End of M’F'in story. Had some d@— good “Santa Fe Burgers” tonight by the man, the legend of grillin’: Bobby Flay. Couple of ‘brews and heading to bed to get some shut-eye. Quick hit to our ‘Birds and ‘Ball…….

Nookah & Seminole – men, it is so great to have you guys back in the ‘Cage. I mentioned missing you guys almost on a daily basis. Welcome back to your ‘Cage family.

jason, row3, JJ, & WR – great work of getting our brethren out of that ridiculous quagmire of a terrible blog. It actually wasn’t quite as bad as I thought it would be, but still no need to discuss it. Great work men.

Sarah B. – when to Vegas? I could have sworn you were heading out this weekend? Don’t you hate when “someone” drinks all your brews on thursday night. At least it wasn’t saturday night in GA, where you couldn’t replace them on Sunday.

Favorite Former Falconi’s – don’t remember to far back in the Falcons days, but Bartkowski and Riggs were always to of my favorite Birds in Red & Black.

Tuggle epitomised what the Falcons are all about. There is never any respect for them. Atlanta doesn’t earn respect, they go and take it. Remember when the Falcons were on the road to the SuperBowl? What was the rage? The Vikings. They had Peete, Carter, and Moss. What did ATL have? More importantly, What did ATL do?

The reason I make that point is to say this. Look at what ATL is doing. They are not earning respect. They are defying the NFL again by just taking the respect. Who was the one Super star that ATL has ever had? What happened? ATL doesn’t need a superstar. They have a team.

Sorry, but DOL’s new blog has hit a nerve.

Sarah B, sorry I left you hanging. I was on with Unca’ Bob, and when he left, you came on and then I didn’t hear anything for a while. I was beat and had to go to work today.

Seminole, if you are still out there, welcome back. You were the one who got me on this blog during the draft. Out here in S.A. no Georgia sports team gets any respect. It’s all about the band wagon. I work with a guy who is a Tarheel, a Gator, A laker, and a Panther. See what I have to deal with. It’s good to be in the CAGE.

jason, row3, JJ, & WR – great work of getting our brethren out of that ridiculous quagmire of a terrible blog.

Some more recipes to come for the big weekend. My RB#2 Roster Spot analysis will have to wait until tomorrow. Great work tonight guys and gals in truly making this an amazing and enjoyable hobby!!!!!

Great to all of you. And on that note………..

Why?………..No cursing, foul language………Why?…………

What a Wonderful Friday Evening Bird-Cage Bro’s and Sis’s!!! Couldn’t be happier and more proud of the ‘Cage faithful after that display of ridiculous self-aggrandizement. Its so great to see our boys back in their rightful places here in the Bird-Cage. Its great to see us not take the hate-bait and engage in past history that has absolutely no relevance to our Falconi’s what-so-ever. As I said in that “other blog”, we’ve moved on as a Franchise and MV has paid his debt to society and deserves another chance and we wish him the best. End of story. Jason, in a word…..WORD!! Well said my brother. No matter what this town does on a professional level we are never given the respect. You are so right. We have no option but to take the respect. Look at what all the so-called experts said about the Hawks before the season started? These so-called experts should now be unemployed. Anyway that’s the modus operandi of all the networks, bar none.

Everything is geared to the large market teams and any other teams that the “so-called” stars play for. Quite frankly I’m sick of it but I guess we have to change the landscape by forceing the media to change their minds about us.

Go Falcons!!!!

Nuff respect everytime!!!!
