In keith brookings career (12 yrs) he has 972 tackles in 161 games 760 of which are solo tackles he also has 12 int.

Brian Urlacher (10 yrs) 137 games 931 tackles 703 solo 17 int’s

not much of a difference for these two yet everyone says Urlacher is one of the greatest linebackers ever not very true evidently because if he was so much greater than brooking they would be almost dead even in tackles and solos.

I hate to see everyone downing Keith Brooking. He has stuck with the team during some pretty rough times and it is always amazing to see those cats who forget that he was an absolute beast coming out of Georgia Tech (where rumor has it that he once got benched for laying the wood to an offensive team mate during a practice). Brooking did not lose the Arizona game by himself. Arizona was clock watching the whole night to get the jump on the o-line and we didn’t adjust in time to stop them period. Dimitroff is doing the right thing with a veteran player who is a bit past his prime but can still contribute. Keith loves Atlanta and this game. I see him back in a Falcons uniform in August fighting for a roster spot (for a bit less money).

ORLANDO LEDBETTER-Politically speaking, there’s a lot of backward thinking going on in Alabama, as is elsewhere. Considering some of the corrupt governors Alabamians have elected, that should have been sent to jail, CBarkley wouldn’t be out of place. I spent some time there during the presidential election and all I heard from the Republican candidates was the use of the word “LIBERAL” and the phrase “THEY DON’T SHARE OUR CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN VALUES”, and we can all figure out what that means.

Looks like we’ll have to replace our staring SS and both starting OLB’s, unless Boley is resigned. Drafting 2 starting OLB’s and a starting SS will be highly unlikely. Therefore, we’ll probably get a starting LB through FA and promote Nicholas. That will allow us to draft a starting SS and TE with our 1st 2 picks and a backup LB in the lower rds. Man, this whole thing is getting really interesting.

Supes wrote: “I hope they “don’t meet his demands” and he goes elsewhere to make tackles 10 yards down the field.” Damn, Supes, you didn’t get the new “memo”….all of KB56’s tackles are now officially “15 yards downfield”…you can go to NFL.com where they have a special section for “fans” guessing just how far downfield KB’s tackles are….its easier than going with real stats…see above. You see, in the old days, before there was Brooking, we just registered tackles, sacks, etc. Only with the advent of KB did we start the new NFL stat of “how far down the field” the tackle was made. I go to Ravens.com and Bears.com and there is this consistent diatribe about how far downfield their LBs are making takles….nobody ever asks where the other 10 defenders were…..ROTFLMAO

Good news that Brooking and the Falcons are “apart” on terms of a potential contract. I hope they “don’t meet his demands” and he goes elsewhere to make tackles 10 yards down the field.

DOL, oh that’s fantastic news about the Falcons nudging Brooking toward free agency. Nice reporting.

I hope Brooking signs with a team on our 2009 schedule. Dimitroff, stick to your guns, and lock the door once he’s gone!

HARRY: Peter King is MY Man! (We overlapped in Cincinnati before he left to cover the New York Football Giants for Newsday. I was the “young guy” on the staff. We had a baseball team together in our office fantasy league. Super guy and Hall of Famer. We chatted at the combine during Stafford’s session. He noticed a few gray hairs and said “You can’t be gray, you’re the young guy.” I told him “not anymore.”)
HOWEVER, I’ve got to disagree with that seeing as how I was in the locker room every day and Peter I think came by for a few days this season. But somebody is telling him that. Smitty kept Lawyer around last year because he needed a vet in the DB room. He was voted Team Captain by his TEAMMATES. As I stated previously, there was one issue, $$$$$. But he signed the contract. He didn’t like that the kicker made more loot than him.

You’ve got the wrong guy. D. Led is a man of the PEOPLE!!! WOULD NOT be caught dead in D. Hall’s Bentley with Coach Jimmy. TAKE IT BACK!!! Now if he had a Purple and Gold pickup truck . . .

SAAAGE Of BlewLand: You’re a hoot. The last year of the contract was void because he played more than 35 percent of the snaps. So he wasn’t due anything today. We were misreading the KonTRAct. Got the clarifications later. Team has him on his list of free agents. As far as getting an update on his plight. I just sent in the story (KB’s headed to FA according to my man Pat Dye Jr. One more thing, Dude, I’m a LEGEND N Dis GAME. Do some homewerk and quit trying to clown folks. Just google D.
