TOBF, that’s what you were thinking when you said put Gattis at catcher, and sign Pence to play LF? Okay.

Anyway, I don’t know why we need to complicate things with multiple positions; if Gattis can hit and play LF, and we don’t have a LF, why create the need to 2 other part-timers (to play LF and catch when he’s doing the other?).

Use that Pence money you found to pay McCann and be done with it.

Cream did not stay together lone — out of that was the great Eric Clapton.

I hope he is in the RR HOF — would be a sham if he is not.

well, if it’s all equal, and ends up being 5-6 at 15mil to McCann or Pence, I’d probably pick Pence… he’ll play more games, and there also aren’t many catchers who are catching well into their mid 30s catching as many innings as Mac has…

3-4 year deal, I’d give that to McCann though

There is a reason stuff is in the top 40 — more people like it.

Or a bigger reason: accessibility and marketing.

And the general decay of western society. Hey, let’s throw in some Britney Spears and go to the Olive Garden!

Mr. Pitts – How about BBM – Bruce, Baker and Moore? Basically, it’s Cream with Gary Moore on guitar, Never had heard of it until a friend sent me a copy earlier this year. Good stuff.

but we shall see what happens…. Gattis is filling me with confidence, maybe he will be the real deal, our right-handed Hamilton ;) Would eliminate the need for Pence, allowing us to bring back Mac on a 3year deal or so… gotta consider Prado as well though

Hey, Brittany will get there for sure. She is great.

I find it preposterous that the Sex Pistols are in the RR HOF while Chicago is not. That is crazy.

Some of what is in the RR HOF is legit, some is quesstionable.

The Dave Clark 5 got screwed from last yrs inductees. The voting is a joke.

Just got through reading about HGH’s involvement in Track and Field. One of the indicators of doing HGH in addition to the skull enlarging is the jawbone growing which results in the user having to wear braces on their teeth. It would be a good project for TOBF to find out if Schafer ever wore them and I saw StevefromOhio post and his expertise would be appreciated.

They said almost the entire Jamaicain Track Team wore them at one time or another , And don’t forget Ben Johnson, who was banned after the 88 Olympics, was a Jamaican who immigrated to Canada.

Then I can only assume you don’t realize that much credit is given to the overwhelming influence one of those bands had on so many bands for the past three-plus decades, from Nirvana to Motorhead, from the Stone Roses to Guns ‘N’ Roses. And it sure wasn’t the band named after the city in Illinois.

Members of those bands above and countless others have cited — and continue to cite — the Sex Pistols as a major influence. Even the late rapper Tupac Shakur credited the Pistols for influencing his style and attitude.

I mean, come on, any serious rock fan who didn’t stop listening to new music in the late ’70s or early ’80s knows what a major impact punk rock had on music, and that the Sex Pistols were at the forefront of that movement. Their album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols is widely regarded as one of the top 100 rock albums of all time, on list after list.

Sorry, but Chicago, as much as I loved some of their tunes as a kid, is relatively inconsequential to the history of rock ‘n’ roll in comparison to the Sex Pistols.

I enjoy chats about the R&R HOF about as much as I enjoy a trip to the dentist, but I’ll take the time to point out that recording acts don’t have to necessarily be influential to qualify…otherwise Randy Newman wouldn’t be going in this year. Blues sucks. Alternative rock and modern pop rules.

Luv Ke$ha and Nicki Minaj. Katy Perry too. Maroon 5, not bad.

Kidding to one side I really am old enough to remember Cream a bit but have put the late 60’s to rest — time for the 21st century.

Cream had two hits Sumshine of your Love and Wide Room and pretty much nothing else. Well, nothing else worthy of real radio play. Disgusted

I agree with you, and also am surprised Chicago has never been inducted. Still think they will be at some point. Good band that sold a ton of records.

Speaking of record sales: Lew, it’s hard to deny the overwhelming popularity of ABBA worldwide. I mean, that band has sold a staggering number of records, nearly 400 million at last count (they still sell a ton, in part because that damn play has run forever on Broadway, and the movie it led to).

DOB – True, but when I think of rock anthems, I aways think first of Dancing Queen before I think of Smoke on The Water.

I have a much bigger problem with Deep Purple NOT having been iducted despite record sales spanning almost 45 years (and a new album in the works) than I do with ABBA and som others being there.

I’ll bet they’ll get inducted sooner or later, but unfortunately, Jon Lord – who left the band a few years ago to become a Classical composer and who hit the Classical charts doing so- died this past year and won’t get to see their (hopeful) eventual enshrinement.

What!? Where in the H have I ever said B.J. Upton is anything more than he is, a flawed player albeit a potential 30-30 guy. I’ve consistently pointed out that his OBP has decreased just as steadily as his home-run numbers have increased, to a terrible sub-.300 OBP last season. The next Chipper? That’s comical. But then, you’re the only one who’s said his name in the same sentence with Chipper’s in terms of a comparison, as far as I know.

Most of your comments seem based only loosely on facts, if not entirely bereft of facts. But again, just as you use your faux naive act to continuously make passive-aggressive comments about some of us on the blog (particularly about me), you’ve also fooled some folks by using the “repeat it enough times that they’ll believe it” approach that so many politicians use. And use the oh-so tiresome “kool-aid drinker” as a crutch for lack of a better insult.

By the way, I don’t want to sink to the level of blog grammar police, but since it was a couple of similar mistakes in same paragraph, I’ll just point out that it’s copied, not coppied, and coming, not comming.

Plus, I was a bit disappointed to hear a friend’s review of a recent Jamey Johnson concert; said he was great the first half, but came out drunk after intermission and made a mess. And this following such great reviews of his Hank Cochran project.

I’m convinced he’s a good soul, but wish he wouldn’t attempt to emulate the worst attributes of some of his heroes.

I’d prefer to keep Freeman over LaRoche (who I have always liked) given that he is 10 years younger and several million dollars cheaper (and still provides well above average defense and good offensive pop)

Personally, keyLargo, I expect the next 3 years of Freeman to be better, and cheaper, than the next 3 years of LaRoche. But that’s just my opinion. Maybe you’ll be right.

Tom – and by signing LaRoche, you weaken the gNats and make the Braves better.

I can’t even imagine how chocolate beer would taste – mostly because beer and chocolate don’t seem to go together.

Do you give LaRoche the 3 years he’s looking for, key?
