Carnac stands by his prediction. If Schafer doesn’t become the player he should be, Cunningham may run him off. But that’s not how the season will start.
Even if Gattis does make it and I hope he does – its still a sorry azz cheap way to run a MLB sports team.
We might even win in spite of LM, but the window of opportunity will close in their face before long.
Cheap Bastards — no one ever told us payroll was going to be cut but it was.
Fear factor will be next off season when Huddy, Malholm, B-Mac and Prado are gone and they should be cause they all deserve to be paid assuming a good season in 2013.
It hasn’t been cut yet there are still months left to get someone, they were never going to get two free agents anyway. A trade is still possible.
And what makes you think they have to announce if payroll is going up or down?
Funny thing about your name. When I was in the fifth grade I was sent to a psychologist for some testing. He asked the old question about the half-glass of water. I told him, “It depends.” He asked what I meant by that. I said that if he was filling it and stopped that it was half full and that if he was draining it and stopped, it was half empty.
My Braves are in a pretty good spot, all things considered. Our main advantage is having Medlen, and yes, even Maholm, for a full year. Beachy will be icing on the cake. This is the main thing no one dwells on.
Our bullpen is, if anything, even stronger.
IMHO, all we need is about .775 OPS to even out Chipper’s departure (considering pluses and minuses at other spots) and I think we will get that one way or the other.
So, for a team that just lost a HOFer to retirement and has it’s best starting pitcher on the DL for the first half of the season, that’s not too bad.
we’ll be fine… not as good as the Nats, but good enough for the #1 spot. Hopefully the baseball gods look favorably upon us next year. Solid, but not great rotation. mid-rotation, non-hard throwing guys. 3.5 ERAs from all of them except maybe the 5th starter (Teheran/Delgado). Hopefully the offense is consistent.
I think you put too much stock in those flame throwers. I want a guy who can pitch on the black, move in and out and up and down, keep the hitters off balance. Medlen is a great example of that.
Maybe I am…. we’ll see I guess. I am just a fan of those harder throwing pitchers… and we don’t have 1. Got 5 “soft-tossers” instead. Is 1 guy who can throw 93+ too much to ask for? Just 1 Frank…
Lot of love shown to trumbo. I still think he is high risk high reward. He is anything but a sure guarantee. Lots of power but lts of strikeouts and there is a hole in that swing

Shafer should be bottled with Bullock and sold as fresh in the Caracas baseball trader bazaar if there is one.
I wish the BRAVES would part ways with both. I consider Schafer a two-time loser looking for a third bust, and Bullock a doper.
