No, just add up the raw OPS numbers. If all 8 had an OPS of 700, the total is 5600. I’m saying it will be 150 points above that in 2013.

Tom-

Of course you don’t have Showtime- what with your rotary dial phone, hand crank radio, and rabbit ear TV ;)

I work out in a park near my place. So weather is a factor…naturally, it didn’t rain on Monday and it probably won’t tomorrow when I have another session, but it did off and on all day today

You missed the point of my post entirely. That post was more about minor league numbers being useless than it was about BJ Upton. Heck, it was more about Bourjos than it was about Upton.

TOBF’s obsession with Bourjos is based on minor league numbers and ONE full season in the majors, hence why I brought up BJ’s stats, because I can’t understand why this guy wants to trade prospects for Bourjos, but dislikes BJ [and his "potencial"].

Just comparing…

The point is, just because Bourjos reached his minor leagues production in ONE year as a major league starter, it does not mean he’s worth a shyt [nor a fit for the Braves].

If you compare 2012 versions of

Prado
Simmons
Chipper
Heyward
McCann
Uggla
Bourn
Freeman

to the 2013 versions of:

Prado
Simmons
Whoever replaces Chipper
Heyward
McCann
Uggla
BJ Upton
Freeman

You will end up with 150 extra OPS points, in the aggregate.

That’s my point.

nolie, it’s very simple.

If one guy has an OPS of .800, and the other guy has on OPS of .700, it totals 1.500.

It’s called arithmetic.

Gattis hit his 13th homer tonight in Venezuela.

And my Jayhawks are wiping the floor with Richmond’s squad.

If Johnny picked .5 bushels of apples a day over the entire apple season, and Suzie picked .4 bushels of apples a day during the season, how many apples a day did they pick during the season together?

ANSWER: .9 bushels, because .5 plus .4 equals .9.

Get it?

And, yes, in case you are wondering, a platoon counts as the replacement for Chipper.

I seem to recall that when some people explained the arithmetic of population, guns, factories, and railroads to the Confederacy, it was dismissed as “silliness.”

If you think the starting 8 will generate less than 150 additional OPS points, 2013 over 2012, just say so, and we can have a disagreement, and go on. You can even insult me. But first say the Braves won’t do it.

Gattis hit his 13th homer tonight in Venezuela – DOB

I don’t know the quality of pitching in that league, but this settles it for me; I think the Braves need to stop pursing a LF for now and give Gattis a chance. Save the prospects, save the big FA contract and let’s see what he’s got. If it doesn’t work out, then of course pursue whatever option.

It is well reported on the B/R and mlbtraderumors who are in love with DOB that the Fish would give up Stanton for 3 top prospects and nobody can give them what we have, and if they try to give him up for less Selig would veto it

I had a hard time giving any credence to this blog. The very first sentence is inaccurate. Please, do some research on your subject matter before trying to make an argument. Ever hear of Mike Schmidt? No, well he’s the guy that won back-to-back MVP Awards RIGHT BEFORE Murphy. Next time get the facts together and I might bother to agree or disagree with your point of view.

[...] point I made in this blog last month in this blog was that if writers were going to use rule No. 5 on the HOF ballot, the rule that [...]
