#Braves pitcher Julio Teheran tossed six innings today for Licey in the DR, allowing just one hit with no walks and eight strikeouts.
Hopefully there were some scouts there other than Frank, Bruce, and Fredi.
I just hope RG3 is ok… We lose him and I believe our playoffs hopes are gone. If its something serious he’d likely be out remainder of the season and it would affect him going forward in his career.
Indians and Yankees will get what they deserve if they sign those 2 to big bucks.
At their age and skill set I’d go with Fancisco before I’d sign them if I were an owner. Reynolds strikes out so much he is liable to miss the dotted line when he signs and Youk is a has been that once was surrounded by guys that could hit which helped him.
These signings and the money are really getting depressing!!
RHSP JULIO TEHERAN [3.23 ERA] 6.0 IP, 1 H, zip R, 0 BB, 8 SO.
JULIO’s era is plummeting down faster than an express elevator coming from the 20th floor. Three peat superb outings in a row, and the one just before those three was solid. I think a light-bulb may have gone on down south.
DUSTY’s been unscathed in nine outings of limited work. That sounds spectacular, but really it isn’t. But an improvement for him over last year. 7.0 IP, 5 H, 3 BB, 1 SO.

Nine starters? Where we gonna’ put everybody?
Between arm miseries and buckling under the pressure of ML play, I still see a minimum of six effective pitchers for the 2015 season.
And that’s with my main man HUDSON, and MAHOLM out of the picture. No wonder they moved HANSON and let JURRJENS go.
We’ve also picked up two power arms for the pen, LHRP JAIME last season, and RHRP WALDEN in trade for this season. If these two can control their stuff, they’ve bringing serious heat to the mound in the eighth. Both throw 95-98.
LHRP AVILAN has been very good down south this winter.
They offer Arb 3 to RHRP EOF this season, use him this year then let him go in FA next off-season, or in a mid-season trade for a need at the end of July.
As long as CRAIG KIMBREL’s arm doesn’t fall off, I’m thinking they offer a multi-year deal when he hits Arb 3. That’s one guy that as long as he’s as good as he is, you just can’t lose that type of closer.
Hey, unless he’s recently signed, MIKE GONZALEZ is available to replace CHAD DURBIN.
I hope that scouts from the Indians, Royals, and maybe Padres were in DR also… Choo, Gordon, and Gyorko all would look nice here. Maybe someone needs a 3B and will take Juan too…
TOBF, you’re still just not smart saying things like trading six years of Julio Teheran for one year of Shin-Soo Choo. That’s really bonkers, man. Same with Jedd Gyorko.
If Wood wont be here at Rome next season, sure hope they send Sims here… wanna see him before likely leave the state.
Gotta know if my love for Sims over Wood is legit… maybe Im just biased to righties. I should go to Gwinnett to see Graham, but it’s on the wrong side of town for me… Rome is just 40mins away.
I may be wrong, Ef, wouldnt be the first time, unfortunately… I’m just not all that sold on him, especially compared to Delgado. I think RD will be better than Teheran.
Wood seems to have the stuff to be able to hold his own in Mississippi early, he’ll be dominate by mid-season. Could see him to Gwinnett for a start or two, hopefully makes it as a Sept. call-up. I think he’ll be competing for a roster spot by mid 2014. Just needs to work on the curve, but his fastball and change both seem pretty good already.
MikeinFl is right. Braves are not going to give away Teheran for 1 year of anybody and they are right in not doing that. For Alex Gordon or Justin Upton type deal, of course Teheran is right to be included. Seeing this game tonight will only fortify the Baves brass’ opinion of Teheran as someone to hold onto
Also have to ask ourselves for example, if we did make a Julio for Choo swap, and ended up winning the world series with Choo having a great season on his contract year, and getting a draft pick when he leaves. Would that be worth 6 years of Teheran? Or how well would we have to do to for it to be worth it? Atleast the NLCS?
Hope you’re right sir… I’d love to see him. Likely these are my last days to ee the players and prospects live, wanna take advantage. Not really a fan of Cuban food, Mexican’s enough for me!
Teheran is worth it for Choo imo… premium player, and we likely will get a top40 pick. Gilmrtin or Spruill wouldnt be enough for the Tribe to move Choo. They can do better with having that topp40 pick themself.
All Choo needs to do is play to his career averages to be worth it… play well enough to leave us a draft pick. Should be able to at least win a playoff series though, maybe win the division
Choo is definitely a player that I view as someone who puts us right up there with the Nationals for the division. But 6 years of Teheran is hard to give away he’s still just 21 years old…
Ive read that both Teheran and Delgado have #2 upside… but Teheran still struggles with his curve, was pretty bad at AAA. Likely to repeat for the third time, if he struggles, poof goes his trade value. RD has shown flashes of greatness at the MLB level. I’ll go with him, at least for now.
With Teheran’s last few starts though, I bet he’s be the #1 prospect over Graham whe the list comes out tomorrow. I’d swap them.
Put Choo in this lineup, we’ll score lots of runs. Easily he’d be our best OBP machine, and best masher of RHP… .307/.402/.514 I believe. Great guy to hit 3 vs RHP, leadoff vs. LHP. Or he can leadoff all the time, I dont care. Just he addition of Choo makes this lineup deadly scary, especially 1-5. If Mac and Uggla rebound, which they should, even better. Choo is about as perfect of a fit for us as possible.
No trading of power arms for 1 year or less rentals.
Remember if Dumpster had agreed to that rediculous trade we’d be minus Delgado, minus Dumpster and Medlin would have still started the wildcard game, we would have made errors, umpire still made rappy infield fly call and we’d lost.
Delgado and Tehran are gonna have to pitch for us soon when Huddy / Mahomie are gone because Lord knows we’ll never be able to afford a good free agent pitcher
Alex Wood looks a lot like Jonny Venters on the mound. Not really an athletic dude. I still think he can be a starter long term because from what I’ve read the changeup and curveball have promise to be at least average and that fastball is above average. We’ll see.
With our payroll, you don’t give a free agent pitcher a 15 M a year contract. A 28 year old outfielder, sure. But not a pitcher. We’ve read the character assasination on Greinke all day on here, i’d hate to see what we’d read about say a Dempster signing.

If he plays all year he’ll but 200 Ks for about the 3rd or 4th time and maybe hit his career average of abuot 230. All for 25 HRs.

Also, this is what happens when you’re the Royals and you start talking to a bunch of really, really smart guys about a trade. #badidea

I somewhat believe in Wren, but he needs to take notes from Tampa. Everything they do seems to work.

Why did KC make this trade? Royals last made the playoffs in 1985. Every MLB team has made the playoffs since then.

Their drafting is top notch but i think a lot of it can be credited to their player development.

The #Rays rotation won’t be as good w/o Shields. Their bullpen still isn’t very deep. And James Loney is their 1B. Still work to be done.

The word is that the Royals do plan to try Wade Davis as a starter. And yes, they know he’s done much better in pen so far in career.

I had it at 7, but who am I to argue? So, I figured I’d try it out, again, and count the keystrokes as I went along.
