Emilio Bonifacio would be a great addition if Wren is looking at a smaller and lower cost addition. He’d give us a option for leadoff man in LF when he starts. When on the bench he’s a utility guy who can play 6 positions and has blazing speed.

I think we could manage to get by with some kind of combo of Bonifacio, Johnson, and Francisco opposite of Prado. All while still having Gattis waiting for a call in AAA. It could work, tho not on the top of my list. But certainly better than doing nothing. It would be nice to see Jose Constanza never make the 25 man roster this season… We can only hope….

Bottom line is that we could not afford ZG and sure he might beat us once in a while but he will not be the only one.

As said before, ZG is a very good but not great pitcher. Over the duration of his contract, he should give the Dodgers around what he has done in 2008, 2011 and 12.

Not 2010 when he was off, or 2009 which was a career yr. Will he have an ‘09 kind of yr during this contract — I say 70/30 aganst that.

The heat is on our system — that is the way it is. The system is the backbone of the future. That is cold hard stinking business of the game as it is this day in time for most teams.

Bonifacio might be the kind of move we are going to get.

Not the big sexy move we would like — like a Choo, or Swisher, but a move that can be useful and adequate if used properly in the context of what we already have.

I do think FW overvalues Teheran but that is just my own $.02. Another yr like ‘12 and he is a shot former hot prospect. There is something about his game I just do not like.

Someone will want Micheal Bourn — just not at what Borass thought he was worth.

He could get a one yr 15 – 18 mil deal somewhere and reenter FA next yris he wants to.

He should get more than Victorino got per yr — that 13 mil a yr for 3 yrs for Victorino was nuts. .

“…..I think Graham’s legit, feel better about him than I ever did about Teheran… don’t know much about Sims other than stats and scouting reports, haven’t seen him pitch live. But I did see Wood a few times at Rome… I think he’s gonna be a good one. Wonder if they’re gonna keep him at Rome to start the season, he sure looked dominant already…..”

I’m envious that you’ve had eyes on ALEX WOOD. I think he’s a potential low to mid-ninties lefty that’s going to rise fast. I’m almost certain he’ll be in LYNCHBURG to start the season, barring injury or executive decision of course. But SPRUILL, HALE, and NORTHCRAFT have all moved to the 40-man, and are practically guaranteed advancement.

TEHERAN in AAA ?
DELGADO in AAA ?

One of them should be advanced to the end of the rotation slot with the other on standby in ready 5 in GWINNETT.

Starters in AAA this season. Was it Jason that asked if there would be starters in GWINNETT this season?

BRAVES like other clubs don’t set the final rosters for AAA and AA until the end of ST. But here’s my crystal ball prediction.

RH TEHERAN/DELGADO
RH SPRUILL
RH HALE
LH GILMARTIN
LH ‘FLAMBE’ FLANDE

are my picks for the starters in LAWRENCEVILLE.

ERIC JUNGE will not make the roster in my opinion.

BJ is a much better signing than Swisher. After reading what a d-bag Swisher is I think he’d be the worst signing possible. Lot of money and a clubhouse cancer. Pass.

A surprise in GWINNETT as a starter/spot reliefer might by RHS/RP GARY MORAN. I like the look of him ….. statistically of course.

LHS/RP may be JOSE LUGO. He’s had great success in winter ball not having given up a run in 18 outings until yesterday’s 19th [1.62 ERA].

Told everyone that Turner was cooked… looked bad since last year. Shoulda used Quizz more, he’s our best shot… but even that isn’t great. Ryan needs some rest, maybe Turner… let the O-line play though, they gotta learn to block people.

Letting Samuel play all those weeks when he was hurt was dumb though… rest him and Moore through week 17.

Good thing its just Carolina and not the playoffs.. Look, our offense has been underwhelming the last two games and we aren’t blowing people away, but the fact is there is not one great team out there this year. Every team has problems. Flip a coin in the playoffs this year, really shouldn’t be to many favorites. Just get there and see what happens.

Matt Ryan has to do better, much better, but so does that offensive line. Got to figure out a way to get the guy some more time to throw. Kudos to the defense, they are banged up and have been bent but not broken this year.

Boy if the panthers put this much concentration into performing well for the whole year they could have been a playoff contender. At least one team got up for the game. Looks like the falcons thought it was a bye.

Every week its pressure, pressure and more pressure on Ryan. Falcons need to run a few more screens imo, not just little dump off plays, get some blockers in front of a Julio or Rogers and let them go.

Mark

RGIII and Cutler out again, wide open in the NFC.

Being a sitting duck quarterback is not for Ryan and this line. He’s got to learn how to create time for himself and then to make good decisions once he does. That’s his biggest weakness to me. Lack of creativity when the play or pocket breaks down. Improvisation is not his strength. To me that hurts more than the running game being sub par.. Sometimes you have to create where there is nothing.

So, we sign Teheran for 850K, spend 5 years grooming him, refuse god-knows-what trade offers for him, watch him struggle, and maybe, just maybe, regain the form that made him the consensus #1 pitching prospect in baseball… just to trade him at 21 years old for one year of a LF?

I just can’t see it. I think Wren is watching him in person this week (though I may be mistaken on that), and I’ll trust his judgement as to whether Julio is “back,” or on his way back. If there’s any possibility that he’s regaining his form, I hope we don’t trade him (unless in a huge deal).

But I also like a plan that gives Francisco and, yes, even Constanza a shot.
(Why VaBravesFan says he hopes Constanza doesn’t make the playoff roster is beyond me. He’ll only make it if he’s good enough – so why not hope he does so well he’s on the roster? He certainly didn’t embarrass himself in this year’s short-lived playoff appearance.)
