Who landed the other Cuban OF last year? The A’s got Cespedes, but who got the other guy? The Cubs?

Jorge Soler, Cubs. Played Rookie and A-ball for them. Probably going back to A-ball next season, I think it’s a rush to start him at AA.

Really surprised that they’ve move both Span and Revere… but, they didn’t get a starter to use at the MLB level in return for Span. They coulda had Hanson and Gilmartin :) I just hope that we don’t trade for Revere

Please stop with the “why isn’t Wren talking to the Twins or the Royals or any other club.” Do you know that he isn’t talking to various teams. Do you know what teams he is and is not talking to? That sounds as idiotic as the Braves are going to finish 4th with 75 wins because Wren didn’t accomplish anything at the winter meetings.

One possible outcome in a #Rangers-#Diamondbacks-#Rays three-way trade: Upton to TEX; a TB starter to AZ; Olt, other prospects to TB.

I would have liked to see FW leave the meetings with a LF, but there is still a long time before spring training. I’m sure he tried but I’d guess the price in prospects was just way too high. Also, with player salaries nowadays, it’s hard to let go of good prospects.

I kind of hope he goes away from the lead-off type hitter and puts an impact bat in the lineup. I guess we’ll see.

But yes, this team isn’t going to be in the top two in the division as currently constructed. Need a MAJOR acquisition for LF or 3B.

I continue to be shocked by this opinion. That is, that seven guys are so bad that they have no chance, but that the addition of one guy to that seven will make them a contender. I think you pretty have to own the stupid-shoes store, not just a pair, to think that makes sense.

Still early. But if they do choose to go with “internal options”, then destroy John Malone’s group as much as you want.

And I’d also really hope that we hear from Frank Wren on payroll if they did decide to go with internal options or a player making the league minimum. If the payroll is still in the mid-90’s, I’d love to know where that money is going, because unfortunately with the new rules – it can’t go into the draft and/or international free agents with the capped spending rules.

“Still holding out hope for Shin Soo Choo and his projected $7 million dollar salary.”

I absolutely believe this could be posturing by Wren, which has the ring of truth since the Braves have such a refreshing number of player options. I just remember last year that when he said, “I could go war with this team”, he meant it. The belief would be that some combination of the speed player (Constanza), the power player (The White Bear) and the similarly skilled IFers (Mejia and Francisco) would be enough to form a respectable mix of options. Francisco separates from Mejia defensively of course but my focus at the moment is our offensive composition.

The reality would *probably* be that we need a LFer in July.
