BJ UPTON is incapeable of hitting for a .250 BA, his OBP last year was .298 HE IS JUST WONDERFUL.
When I see this guy post all I see is: BJ Upton blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
December 4th, 20122:04 pm
Diamondbacks sign Eric Hinske. Meanwhile, they’re trying to trade Jason Kubel. Some think a deal could happen today.
December 4th, 20122:05 pm
I’d like to see what an EOF or Venters would get you on the trade market.
jaysonst Jayson Stark
#Diamondbacks would want an Upton pkg from #Braves to start with Andrelton Simmons, but other teams say Atlanta not moving him in any deal.
December 4th, 20122:07 pm
Juan and Georgie… yuck. Thatd be a tep back from last year, and BJ doesn’t even fill Chipper’s presence. We’re still behind last year’s club and the Nats are getting better. Sigh.
December 4th, 20122:08 pm
Isn’t Kevin Towers the guy who jerked us around a few years ago over Peavy?
Let him simmer.
Despite how much we might like those guys, they’re still non-closer relievers. One of them might be the extra that puts a deal over the top, but as a centerpiece? Not much there.

December 4th, 20122:09 pm
Quit messing around with bi-polar Towers Wren and go talk to Moore about Gordon already.
December 4th, 20122:10 pm
so whose it gonna be soriano? if they pay 30 million of the 36 owed what do you give up spruill and eof?maybe mejia
December 4th, 20122:11 pm
Kevin Towers is a very difficult guy to deal with, it appears. Not saying he should give up Upton for nothing, but his obssession with Simmons is over the top.
I’d be curious if any other team might view them as a potential closer. I know Venters was viewed that way at one point but your right, they could help tip the trade scales.
December 4th, 20122:12 pm
I might be out of my mind but I’d Still Rather have SKE on the Bench as opposed to Jordan Schafer, I have a Bobby Cox type loyalty towards SKEEEE
Atleast SKE could Pop One every now and then….
Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal
Sources: #Rangers, Hamilton making progress. Deal, if reached, likely would be 4 yrs. But still possible another team could beat TEX offer.
We’re still behind last year’s club and the Nats are getting better. Sigh.
And last year, it was the Marlins who were going to kick ass, based on the winter meetings. And the year before, it was some other team. And yada yada yada. Hand-wringing and teeth-gnashing on December 4 is woefully premature, bubba.
I really don’t get the D-Backs thinking when it comes to Gerardo Parra. He isn’t an everyday corner outfielder – I don’t care how good his defense is.
December 4th, 20122:13 pm
nats might have signed haren but that just means one of their youngsters gets a chance in may

Sorry, on what?

As mentioned, Halladay has health concerns as he enters his final year of the contract. He’ll never reach his vesting option for the $20 mil due in 2014.
Now knowing Amaro’s penchant for the dramatic, do you see him signing Grienke?
Hand-wringing and teeth-gnashing on December 4 is woefully premature, bubba.
Boy, that doesn’t stop anyone from doing it, though. Our best pitchers are marginal #4’s, we may not score 2 runs a game unless we get J Upton, and the Nationals may not give up any runs in 2013.
Braves and DBacks… round peg, square hole
A trade of EOF would get Lew all worked up… exactly why I would do it! Im sure e can get at least 1 good righty thrower from say the Cardinals… they have a need for lfties and have tons of good righthanders to spare. Plus, they can afford to extend him when the time comes. Look at what the Cubs got for Marshall, and that was a trade inside the division. He had just one year of control left.
Marlins don’t plan to trade Stanton, but that hasn’t stopped teams from asking. There is a (sky-high) price.
December 4th, 20122:15 pm
“And I’m gonna Miss doing my
Is him being gone really any different than last year when he was here?
“Atleast SKE could Pop One every now and then”
He only had 2 HRs all season this year. He was a great pickup in 2010 but has done next to nothing the past two years. His stint with the Braves had obviously run its course.
The Diesel’s WIU (want, intensity, urgency) was off the charts. He was one of only two Braves (Marteeen) who possessed a high WIU.

just scroll over george. learn to spell incapable sir because you are incapable of forming a relevant thought. Where is a truant officer when you need one? Must be a kid, no adult would post such drivel.
BJs BA the past FOUR YEARS .241 .237 .243 .246 He is INCAPABLE of hitting .250. Chip, do you like a .298 OBP?
December 4th, 20122:17 pm
No Money Mike in CF
And No B-Macc til June 10th (100 percent)
What a Hell of a roster Makeover, I guess we will have to rely on BEEEJJJ!!!! To carry the Load til The Mac-Attack is back!
“Difficult” must be code for “not a p****”, LOL.
Jim Powell @Jim_Powell
Count me as intrigued by Alex Gordon rumors. What do you think of Gordon as #Braves LF? Gold glover with solid power and good OBP. Pricetag?

COnSTANza why do so many almost worship this player….I don’t understand it. Almost wish he would be part of a trade as a throw in to get him out of the organization completely so he would not be brought up again.
Jayson Stark @jaysonst
Besides #Phillies CF void, they also need RF & 3B. Ruben Amaro Jr. told me the other day he can probably only afford one, not both of above
aw come on george put me in coach
im ready to play today
never say never
cause you never know……..lol
Maybe it is premature, but the Nats were actually good last year. I could see them around 95 wins again. Marlins always were a mess, never bought into them. they were trying to spend their way to competitiveness. Hiring Ozzie showed how much of a joke they were.
December 4th, 20122:20 pm

If the price is right, and it may be, Alex Gordon is a really good option, IMO.
“Almost wish he would be part of a trade as a throw in to get him out of the organization completely so he would not be brought up again.”
Oh I’m sure we’d still have people complaining about the trade for years.
I’m not advocating trading Simmons nor do I want him traded, but sometimes you have to give up a talent to fulfill a need. Are you a strong team with J Upton or with Simmons? If all things are equal then keep the talented, lower cost player. If J Upton makes this team a WS contender and you have a capable defensive SS on the team I’d say make the deal.
Janish may have a weak bat but so did the WS champion Rafael Belliard (I know it’s not that strong of an argument for Raffie only appeared in 75 games in 1995, but he was on the field in game 6.)

Because he was a Stud OF’er in Gwinnett Last year, I just see him as a 4-A player, sort of like Mike Kelly without as much hype
Hey Mixxo, I have a high WIU too.
Sounds like Towers ain’t moving Upton unless its Andrus or Simmons, probably has some other SS on his list too. Can’t say that I blame him, J Upton is one of the premier young players in the game, imagine what we’d ask for for Heyward.
Kershaw, Greinke, Beckett, Capuano, Harang, Lilly, Billingsley
Although Lilly is coming back from shoulder surgery and Billingsley is likely to miss 2013 for TJ surgery. Capuano and Harang come off of the books in 2013, as does Lilly. Beckett and Billingsley after 2014. Kershaw with three more years of control through 2015.
December 4th, 20122:26 pm
Hey,Mixxo. Talking to yourself?
The Braves should sign Jason Bay to a 1 year deal with incentives and see if he pans out.
If he still sucks, not a big loss. If he can come back towards his previous levels of performance, though, big win.
WAR isn’t the be-all, end-all. But this is interesting.
Justin Upton had a 3.9 WAR in 2011. In all other years combined (five seasons), he has 1.1 WAR. In just 49 games last year, Simmons had 2.8 WAR. In 150 games last year, Upton had 0.4 WAR.
Amanda Comak @acomak
#nats are definitely still looking for left-handed relievers. While Burnett is likely priced out for them, they’re prob looking a tier below
December 4th, 20122:27 pm
Scratch that, Kershaw is eligible for free agency after 2014. Yikes, that is going to be a monster deal.
If Greinke wanted to win, he’d go to Atlanta or Texas. Dodgers will underperform. Leave money on the table like Lee and go where you’re comfortable and can win. And with Hamilton likely going back to Texas, that only leaves….
December 4th, 20122:28 pm
Disregard previous post…I was looking at the wrong column.
Let’s say it this way. Simmons had 2.8 WAR last year in 49 games. Upton had 2.1 WAR last year in 150 games.

I’ll bet you do young man….I’ll bet you do.

#Mets telling suitors will not go Beltran route with Dickey taking 1 star prospct. Want multiples because: 1) new team gets Dickey (cont)
for full yr, not half 2) can tender offer to get draft pick comp if leaves after ‘13 3) outstanding pact ($5M) with legit chance to extend
December 4th, 20122:30 pm
In terms of big trades, has it just been the Toronto/Miami swap, Span for Meyer and Hanson for Walden?
Has there been any other big trades yet?

Let’s get Alex Gordon!

“The Mariners are pretty close to signing free agent outfielder Jason Bay, according to ESPN’s Brock and Salk show. Read more at http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/#MiLf8aGgJRcz0Pby.99“
…Obsessed fans who can’t see reality?
Boring boring boring… no Upton, no other Braves’ rumors, no trades going on around the league… Josh Hamilton progress and some Mariners interest in every available player under the sun… c’mon people! This is day freakin’ 2 of the meetings. Let’s get it going already!
If this were a movie it would be some chick flick with Frank being played by Bette Midler or some other old hag… .and I’d be quickly changing the channel to find a Gold Rush rerun or war documentary.
“there’s not too many clubs out there that have two outfielders that can hit you 30 home runs and steal you 30 bags”
Get Choo and go for the trifecta.
Are you still with us? Are you INCAPABLE of giveing me a answer? Did the truth in stats make you silent?
December 4th, 20122:34 pm
Lemme guess….Hanson/BMac supportist?
You’re in the right circus…..clown.
If the Dodgers remain healthy, they should be pretty darn good next year with Greinke:
LF Crawford, CF Kemp, RF Ethier
3B Ramirez, SS Gordon, 2B M. Ellis, Gonzalez, C Ellis
SP Kershaw, Greinke, Beckett, Capuano, Harang
RP League, Jansen, Belisario, Guerra, Elbert
Ken Davidoff @KenDavidoff
#Giants, with Pagan in the fold, have spoken with Nick Swisher’s reps but are thinking smaller (Ludwick, Scott Hairston).
George just the facts sir for your information on BJ. Just looked it up. These are 8 year AVERAGES. OBP 336. OPs 758. SB 39. HR 20. RBI 75. Could Michael Bourn produce these stats? Maybe the SB but I’ll take these #s AND for less money than Bourn. Now go back to class and don’t forget to do your homework and take out the trash.
December 4th, 20122:35 pm
Alex Gordon would be a great pickup
Are you still with us? Are you INCAPABLE of giveing me a answer? Did the truth in stats make you silent? gg
Hinske signed with D-backs, will mostly PH and play a little 1B.
Jerry Crasnick @jcrasnick
Davey Johnson: “Adam LaRoche is gonna come back. If I have to go to Kansas and take him and all his cattle to Florida, I will.”
Besides, LA has that TJ Simers jerk… stay away.
Would Dickey really get a qual. next year? 14mil at that age
Yikes, that is going to be a monster deal.
It’s the friggin Dodgers. The only thing “yikes” worthy about it will be how easy it is for them to dump that cash on him.
December 4th, 20122:36 pm
Let’s get Alex Gordon! – Bayou Brave
I’m down with this.
December 4th, 20122:37 pm
With an outfield of Gordon, Upton, and Heyward, and Prado and Simmons on the left side of the infield, the Braves could be an elite run prevention team next year. Really, they were elite at it last year, after the first month or so.
Maybe no true “leadoff” hitter, but they’d be able to score enough runs to be a playoff team.
Mixxo, just letting you know I know who your other moniker is. You jerk.
Not that I can recollect Efrim, but that Toronto / Miami trade was one for the ages.
Davey Johnson on 2013; “World Series or bust. That’s probably the slogan this year.”
December 4th, 20122:38 pm
Hows that for stats Georg? Now shut up and go away. You want to get personal thats fine. But, these are facts not your personal bias. Based on what I read on here, no one puts any stock in your nonsense crap anyway. These are facts. Look it up yourself on Baseball Reference. Try it sometime and maybe you wont look like an idiot.
December 4th, 20122:39 pm
#Mets telling suitors will not go Beltran route with Dickey taking 1 star prospct. Want multiples because
1) they don’t realize Brian Sabean only works for the Giants and his spawn is currently negotiating the price for purchasing mainland China.
Gordon is just one of the names floating around, in part because KC has OF Wil Myers knocking on the door.
December 4th, 2012
Mark Bowman @mlbbowman
These are our Braves rumors from the meetings? Not good….Bowman stating the obvious. Exciting stuff.
Constanza couldn’t even get time with the Tribe and their outfield sux. He is a 5th outfielder/pinch runner at best. Why do people not think Meds is a #1 starter. He was the best pitcher in MLB the 2nd half of the season. When him and Tommy came up he had better #’s and yet everyone loved Tommy and no one gave 2 cents about Meds. I think he gets a bad rap because he looks unathletic and he is small in stature. The dude is a bonafide #1 and should never be traded. He may only have a small sample size to go on but look at his minor league #’s as well. He has dominated every level of competition and wants the ball like smoltzie and others did in big games!
December 4th, 20122:40 pm
whats the matter georg? cat got your tongue?
Davey isn’t shy, is he? Overly enamored with his club, maybe, but not shy.
December 4th, 20122:43 pm
OH chip the only two desent seasons he had were his first two full seasons. THE GUY IS A DUD. Our CF stats will be about a .243 BA 15 HR 45 RBI. Are those numbers worth over 13 MILL?
“Mixxo, just letting you know I know who your other moniker is. You jerk.” – CB
December 4th, 20122:44 pm
Obsessed? I’m concerned about the rotation, it’s not elite or great… just solid and full of soft-tossing polish… offense isn’t elite enough to overcome the rotation. Just nervous is all, especially when I see the Nats. Great, elite rotation and a solid offense… they’ll be really good once again.
C’mon, someone float a fake rumor to at least give us something to talk about.
Gordon for Delgado, Ahmed, and Salcedo. That’s what I heard. From… this guy who… well, he knows this other guy who is friends with Wren’s assistant.
December 4th, 20122:45 pm
Frank, do SOMETHING quick!
The kool aid krew is getting restless as he** and ornery too.
December 4th, 20122:47 pm
This offense has the capability of scoring a large number of runs next season if they can ever get in sync. Truthfully, this should be a feared lineup, but too often last season opposing pitchers mowed them down like they were little leaguers.
Hopefully they can figure in out in 2013. Uggla returns to form, BMac wins the comeback player of the year award, Upton finally clicks, and so on.
efrim If the Dodgers remain healthy, they should be pretty darn good next year with Greinke:
i think they have to get grienke. because honestly, i think the team as is is disappointing, based on their payroll. that lineup has some problems, i think.
TOBF, from May through the end of the season, over 75% of the year, the Braves allowed fewer runs than the Nats did, with basically the same pitching staff they have now.
Just an FYI, Alex Gordon is also a decent 3B, 1B, and has even played a game at SS. He’s Prado 2.0.
Don’t forget he’s under team control through 2016 at a pretty reasonable rate. Heyward, Upton, and Gordon together for the next 4 years? Works for me.
Get it done, Frank.
December 4th, 20122:48 pm
Don’t worry about CB he is another one who does not like the truth.
December 4th, 20122:49 pm
The kool aid krew is getting restless as he** and ornery too.
While the rum and coke crew is taking their afternoon nap in a pool of their own vomit.
OK georg now I’m really done with you. Where do you get 15 and 45? His AVERAGES are 20 and 75. Averages means he may put up 25 and 90 with better hitters around him. Sometimes its better to remain silent and be thought an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. I am willing to bet he exceeds his career AVERAGES this year and every year going forward. He is ONLY 27 years old. Thank God you are not the GM.
December 4th, 20122:50 pm
A. Gordon might cost Teheran or Delgado, plus a little more.
I am amazed at how many of you are obsessed with strike-out rate. it seems to me that looking at SO without checking OB % is daft. Uggla had an OBP of .348 second only to Prado on returning players and while lower than Chipper, was tied with Bourn.
While getting on base via a hit has some benefits, such as the possibility of extra bases, walks have the advantage of increasing the opposing pitchers pitch count and getting them out of the game.
The value of at bats is far more than SO..
