Let Hamilton take his schtik to another club to be monitored 24/7.
November 24th, 20124:17 pm
Anybody that doesn’t understand why Southern people like football could watch GA vs GA Tech, FL vs FSU, or Auburn vs Alabama today. Every game will have over 100,000 people there and not one of those people is neutral.
I remember reading that Vince Dooley would not attend the GA vs TN game this year because his son was the head coach of the TN team. He explained he would not be put in a position to cheer against his son.
November 24th, 20124:20 pm
Snow on the ground in Vermont in November and Dentz back in his 7,447th incarnation. The world is pretty normal.
November 24th, 20124:51 pm
Been out of town an offline since Wednesday… new rumors for the Braves?
November 24th, 20124:56 pm
Heath – Nope – same old.
November 24th, 20125:08 pm
UGA vs. Tech was a football game? Guess so, even if Tech just “quit”. They got embarrassed.
November 24th, 20125:10 pm
kL, Dooley’s son could have used some advice from the old man this year to save his job, but it’s too late now. Good for UGA recruiting, though.
November 24th, 20125:19 pm

I wish they’d learn to like baseball. Not ALL baseball, just BRAVES’ baseball would be fine.
November 24th, 20125:26 pm
I lived in Tampa for the past 2 season. Upton is widely despised down there and doesn’t have good off the field habits.
November 24th, 20125:31 pm
kenhotlanta – Vince would tell him to put his best athletes on defense except the running backs, run the ball 80% of the time and to have the very best punters and kickers he could get.
It worked for Vince 20 years.
November 24th, 20125:36 pm
kL: I was shocked to hear them say on TV today that it has been 32 years since Herschel led us to the National Championship…that just does not compute, where in the heck did all that time go?
November 24th, 20125:39 pm
time for Gurshall to lead y’all to another one
November 24th, 20125:50 pm
ken – Dooley’s been gone for 25 years. I know exactly what you mean.
November 24th, 20126:00 pm
A couple of close games and a couple of blowouts in the rivalry games going on right now… this FLA-FL ST game has been a good one.
November 24th, 20126:02 pm
TOBF: You finally said something I agree with. Good show!
November 24th, 20127:04 pm
So with Alabama, Georgia, and Florida winning today…. if Notre Dame loses tonight, the SEC is guaranteed another championship, right?
November 24th, 20127:06 pm
uga – It’s official. Get your Xanax refilled and put on your face paint.
November 24th, 20127:07 pm
Heath – Should be.
November 24th, 20127:12 pm
sad way to end the season for FSU. Get GT next week though, + a bowl-game. 10-2, and possibly 12-2 isn’t too shabby. Need to move to the SEC…
Go Trojans tonight, Dawgs next week. Gonna be rocking in the Dome
John Kincade @JohnKincade
Get the Kleenex, if ND gets upset by USC it will be a BAMA-FLA Championship Game OR a GA-FLA Cocktail Party rematch. Great drama to play out
Florida is “in” if ND loses without having to play in the SEC championship. Would be nice to see UGA/FLA again though…
November 24th, 20127:13 pm
Gattis not on the 40 man roster will be left unprotected? Sure a big “if” of a player, but who knows, mabey he’ll find successs somewhere else. I’ve gotta hunch about ‘em, Hate to lose ‘em.
Jordan Schafer @JordanSchafer
Game over!!!!!!!! Hollar at me FSU fans, u just got that @ss waxed at home!!!!!
@JordanSchafer classy winner… still not a good CF, hope you go to Gwinnett
Lee in S GA
November 24th, 20127:14 pm
for anyone who doubts the SEC …ESPN..take a look at FSU and Florida…this pretty much says a lot for the conference
November 24th, 20127:16 pm
what would that be, 7 straight championships for the SEC?
Bring on the playoff system, I’m sure they can handle that too. FSU needs to get in somehow. You know you want us. Keeps the level of competition up, rather than adding Mizzou.
November 24th, 20127:22 pm
don’t know if i want usc to beat the damn Notre Dame team or not….just as soon let some team in the south do it

Almost half the teams in the SEC are no better than Mizzou.
November 24th, 20127:29 pm
Upton isn’t worth 15 million a year. Those of you who are tired of Ugglas 13 Million a year salary will be getting a worse player in Upton.
We are paying DAN 13 MILL A YEAR? The guy always gives full effort, but at 13 MILL A YEAR he should be ashamed to deposet his pay checks.

“I wish they’d learn to like baseball. Not ALL baseball, just BRAVES’ baseball would be fine”
Bobby H — Baseball is just not clicking with the younger generation — that concerns me.
College Footbal is great — I never really appreciated it till I moved South.
I do get why Southerners love college football, but there are other sports out there. And in absoluety no way do I want to disrespect Southerners’ love for College Football — but lets get behind our Braves. And the Hawks and Falcons.
November 24th, 20127:51 pm
Baseball is just not clicking with the younger generation
November 24th, 20127:52 pm
Uggla is going to have a good yr in 2013.
Because I told U so. In Dan Uggla I believe. He worked for the contract he got and will justify it.
And I do believe we will see the good B-Mac again — even if its only for one more yr here.
November 24th, 20127:58 pm
SEC probably wouldn’t be looking for FSU if they wanted to go to 16 teams… already have a market in Florida. If they were going to steal from the ACC, they would probably want Va Tech to get in to Virginia. If I was leading the SEC, however, there really isn’t any major football programs that need to be lured….they’re pretty good in football and baseball. If I were leading, I’d do anything and everything to bring in Duke and North Carolina. The SEC would own the TV rating in football and basetball then. Duke and North Carolina would benefit from more $ in the SEC and EVERYBODY benefits getting to see UK, Duke, and Carolina playing each other at least one time a year in basketball.
November 24th, 20127:59 pm
The BCS is crazy. If Notre Dame loses, Florida could effectively clinch a spot in the championship game before the winner of next week’s Ga/Ala game.
November 24th, 20128:05 pm
Baseball is just not clicking with the younger generation — that concerns me.
I can tell you in one sentence why football is #1 in October to Feb.
The ponds don”t freeze over for hockey in Atlanta and their ain’t nothing and I mean nothing fun about playing baseball @ 32 degrees.
November 24th, 20128:08 pm
I think baseball might actually benefit from shorter seasons–don’t want the baseball season to start during March Madness and don’t want the end of the season to be during the beginning of football.
November 24th, 20128:17 pm
I’m just trying to find FSU a way out of the ACC… the division is pretty bad for football. Our basketball team is decent. But you’re likely right, the SEC doesn’t need us.
November 24th, 20128:27 pm
A&M was a good pickup… getting in to Texas was great for the SEC. Getting UM felt like team they added just keep conference at an even number to so that they wouldn’t lose A&M. The SEC would have been much better off adding Kansas… for the same exact reasons they should try to add Duke/UNC.
November 24th, 20128:28 pm
Brittney Ross @brittebabe15
The fact that SEC fans have to root for Lane Kiffin tonight is sick. I literally feel physically ill about this.
Barrett Sallee @BarrettSallee
SEC fans rooting for Lane Kiffin. The Mayans were right.
I’m in this group… uggh
November 24th, 20128:36 pm
“I think baseball might actually benefit from shorter seasons–don’t want the baseball season to start during March Madness and don’t want the end of the season to be during the beginning of football.”
I agree that it starts too soon — you cannot help it going into the football season some but a 144 to 150 game schedule would do some good.
You sort of have to keep ST at what it is so the pitchers can get their workk in. Only the hard core baseball fans really care much about ST anyways — sometimes its a Florida vacation in March.
I would not do any playoff expanding, even with the WC game what it is. Best of 3 maximum. And I would like the LCS to be 5 instead of 7, but $$$$$$$$$$ will not let that happen.
I wish all playoff series were best of 5 except for the NBA final, Stanley Cup final and WS, that can be 7. Not including football of course — that is always one and out.
November 24th, 20128:38 pm
Hawks are playing some decent basketball — can be 8-4 after tonight.
They better not let this one get away with the fine game they have had thus far after 3 qtrs.
November 24th, 20128:39 pm
I agree Heath. TAMU was a good pickup, they fit right in for football, and the SEC reaches into the Texas market. I just think that there had to be a better option than Mizzou, especially to slot into the SEC East. New market is fine, but they don’t do much for the SEC on the field.
November 24th, 20128:44 pm
Another SEC champion either way. They should have a runner up bowl for the left coast and the rest of the country.
November 24th, 20128:46 pm
Agree completely on UM… not sure they do much for SEC financially or on the field/court either. SEC needs star power on the court now, not on the gridiron. In fact, you could argue that adding any more top-flight football programs to the SEC would be bad for them. If you add enough tough teams (FSU and Va Tech for example) at some point, they best teams will always have 1 loss or even 2 losses and loss teams in the chase for the title. They can only help themselves by adding strong roundball programs now. Need to get UNC and Duke.
November 24th, 20128:55 pm
The braves pursuit of BJ Upton is in part to acquire another African American player. With the loss of Bourn, Jason would be the lone African American player on the team. In a city with a large population of African Americans the braves feel the need to have players to draw the interest of the community.
Hank Aaron among others have talked a lot about the decline of numbers of African American players.
This is not a racist statement but I am sure some will see it that way.
November 24th, 20128:56 pm
USC sucks…no way they are gonna win but that is o.k….bring on the Irish
November 24th, 20129:05 pm
I hope Notre Dame wins tonight (sorry cab and VJ), because I had rather play them in the BCS title game than Florida again.
November 24th, 20129:26 pm
the other community? ah man…….
November 24th, 20129:28 pm
I really don’t get why the SEC added Mizzou.
November 24th, 20129:29 pm
No need to worry, Bama will be playing them anyway.
Duke would have been a good pickup cause of the basketball.
Could all Duke and UNC in the future.
November 24th, 20129:32 pm
DiamondbackMac: Most years, I would prolly agree with you but not this year. You may in for a rude awakening, but it’ll be fun either way.
November 24th, 20129:52 pm
St Louis and KC television markets.
November 24th, 201210:00 pm
We could have added the Raleigh and Charlotte markets with an addition of a Duke and or NC or NC state.
I guess adding the STL and KC TV markets make some sense given that sports in this century is TV driven and that is where the $$$$$$$$$$$ is.
November 24th, 201210:07 pm
Wittek isnt helping….. ah well, the Dawgs will get ready for the overrated Irish.
November 24th, 201210:11 pm
Ugh, let’s not overlook this team from Alabama called the Crimson Tide.
November 24th, 201210:14 pm
Having UM to get access to the STL market is OK. If the SEC wants to create a 16-team league that dominates the national tv markets as well as positions themselves to dominate on the court/field all year, then they need to add UNC/Duke and move UM to the western division.
November 24th, 201210:16 pm
ken – but it’ll be fun either way.
November 24th, 201210:17 pm
Got to take care of business vs the Tide first TOBF and its doable.
November 24th, 201210:18 pm
Wittek deserves to be Booed — He is a BUMB.
November 24th, 201210:19 pm
Maybe the D can take care of business for USC.
November 24th, 201210:23 pm
Just curious – would Dawg fans rather play Notre Dame or Flo-Rida?
November 24th, 201210:26 pm
How goes it?
November 24th, 201210:28 pm
VJ, I already answered that: Notre Dame without a doubt.
November 24th, 201210:32 pm
Would rather have ND — don’t want to play with fire twice with Florida.
Not overconfident with Alabama though.
November 24th, 201210:33 pm
Just curious – would Dawg fans rather play Notre Dame or Flo-Rida?
the Gators….ESPN would be like FOX NEWS after the election…..
ken – that’s what I would think if I were of that persuasion…
Heath – bummed I’m not at game – worked 10 hours today…
But I get to watch Duke-Louisville…
November 24th, 201210:35 pm
If Max Wittek is USC’s future QB, they better get on the recruiting trail ASAP.
For all his talk he has not backed it up — if I were a USC fan I would Boo him. He is not the future — he is terrible.
November 24th, 201210:36 pm
Max Wittik = Julio Teheran.
Big hype — no performance.
November 24th, 201210:39 pm
SOUTH OF THE BORDER
Lead-off CF JOSE CONSTANZA [.318 BA] 1-4, 2 SO.
3B JUAN FRANCISCO [.333 BA] 1-3, 2 RBI , 1 BB, SO….0
3B/1B RUBEN GOTAY [.200 BA] 0-5, 1 SO.
DH CHRIS GARCIA [.278 BA] 0-3, 1 BB, 1 SO.
RF JOSH KROEGER [.297 BA] 1-3, 1 BB, 1 SO, 1 Outfield Assist [2B].
Delayed late game.
November 24th, 201210:47 pm
Wittek no so bad on this drive — he might not be a BUMb after all.
November 24th, 201210:49 pm
MLBTR reporting Upton is looking to make his decision this week. Hopefully Phillies WAY over spend and we get guys that are less sexy but actually produce (sign Swisher and trade for Span).
BRAVES have resigned:
LHRP DUSTY HUGHES and C SHAWN McGILL
They have extended minors contracts to:
RHP JONATHAN SANTIAGO
RHP JAMES HOYT
RHP WILMI FRANCISCO
November 24th, 201210:51 pm
Disgusted – he might not be a BUMb after all
Not a bumb at all, just inexperienced.
November 24th, 201210:52 pm
Notre Dame may be winning, but they’re not playing championship caliber football.
November 24th, 201210:53 pm
There are currently 36 on the 40-man roster. Room for GATTIS before the Rule 5 draft. In addition there are three pitcjhers I see being removed before the season
November 24th, 201210:58 pm
well i guess brent musswhacker or whatever his name is … is happy …he has always seemed to be a Irish fan….
November 24th, 201211:01 pm
ouch sec whips acc fl/ fl st ; ga/ ga tech; sc/ clemson maybe auburn should join acc?
braves should seat tight and sign superstar hamilton- he did miss 3-4 years so he did save his body the bball wear & tear so he’’s young 32
November 24th, 201211:02 pm
Shows you my priorities – flip from ND being close to scoring to go to the Duke game, and forget to go back…
November 24th, 201211:08 pm
it’s a conundrum N Dame vs USC / Lane Kiffen – who am I pulling against the most? maybe a tie would work
November 24th, 201211:09 pm
i am sure USC could not beat Vandy…but the sad thing is ..the Irish might not either
November 24th, 201211:11 pm
Lee is really good…
November 24th, 201211:16 pm
Lee – no offense, but you obviously do not know football…drinking the SEC Gatorade…
November 24th, 201211:17 pm
Lee in S GA: I agree on Brent “Bucky Beaver” Musswhacker …I don’t understand why he is still their number 1 announcer after all these years, there are much better choices out there.
USC not taking the points on 4th? WTF?
November 24th, 201211:18 pm
ND in the title game.
November 24th, 201211:19 pm
The first post meant Marquis Lee, not Lee “I love the SEC no one could ever beat them I want to kiss them all and hug them to my bosom” in SEc ga…
November 24th, 201211:23 pm
Of course other leagues can beat the SEC… look at my cats!
November 24th, 201211:28 pm
Lee – no offense, but you obviously do not know football…drinking the SEC Gatorade…
i know for a team that was ranked # 1 in the beginning USC stunk it up big time…don’t take a wiz to figure this one out Jimmy
November 24th, 201211:29 pm
irish should thrive in the acc now that the terps are leaving
November 24th, 201211:30 pm
Sign Swisher and trade for Span
I’ll take that Heath and so will most of the blog.
A BJ sign is not going to get universal love on this blog. If he were to get off to a slow start I would not want to be in his shoes.
He should be 30/30 in Philly.
Heath – the fun thing for me with BIG FLIPPIN’ TIME college football is, I am completely indifferent – I am happy with my guys in the FCS…just enjoy the blind fealty from everyone who shares the belief that they are all that matters in the entire world…
November 24th, 201211:33 pm
Lee – like I have a deep seated interest in USC – nice try at attempting to say something intellectually interesting, but you are too drunk on loving a conference that has 3 good teams but thinks they are the top 14 trams in the country…no one here confusing you with a wiz…
November 24th, 201211:36 pm
another great dayhas come and gone. and i used no oxygen today. you cannot imagine how good it felt to not have my tether line attached. getting stronger instead of weaker. for an old hermit i made aloyt of church prayer lists/ anyway i beat my first expiration date and they e ven through in an extra 18 months to go now since i didnt die like they said i would in the first 6 months after diagnosos
November 24th, 201211:40 pm
whatever as LEW would say…….what conference wins the BCS every year here recently
November 24th, 201211:41 pm
Sorry – all I care about tonight is basketball – ignore my rants…
November 24th, 201211:44 pm
Lee – self-fulfilling prophecy, given the media self-flagellation over the conference, but, are you also always rooting for NL East teams as if they are your flesh and blood, like the inbred SEC seems to engender in the faithful?
November 24th, 201211:45 pm
dang Pitino lost
November 24th, 201211:46 pm
Duke has looked good early this year so far. In a year where the over-all talent is a little less than last year’s… Duke’s experience and good shooting could take them pretty far this year. I don’t like what I’ve seen at all from my Cats this year. Still not playing defense and the Ryan Harrow transfer has not panned out. (No one is admitting it, but he looks like the light is just to bright at UK for him right now.)
November 24th, 201211:47 pm
#5 beats #2 – all is right in the collegiate world where championships are actually won on the court…
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
